A sunlit March afternoon made perfect conditions for a ride video on the AMT's Mont-Saint-Hilaire line. Once again, thanks to a kind operator, I was able to get footage from the front of the train, in this case lead by a Bombardier bi-level passenger car with a control cab for the pushing Bombardier ALP-45DP dual-power locomotive at the other end. Best of all, this gave a rare view of the Victoria Bridge trackside, as well as entering Montreal's Gare Centrale and switching tracks to the correct platform. All of this accompanied by some casual conversation between operators (and sometimes the cameraman), whom as always I thank for the opportunity. Enjoy the video!
Merci d’avoir cree ce Video. As a child in the late sixties and early seventies every time my family travelled in and out of Central Station the “underground “ maze of track work seemed endless and mysterious in the darkness of it. Back then there were many more overnight trains arriving and departing, more baggage wagons on the platform and even the Turbo on the westernmost tracks. CN till the nineties or even 2000’s stored business cars there after the Turbos disappeared. The bridge is still owned and maintained by CN , correct? Earlier in the 20th century CN charged bridge tolls on vehicles using it.
Moving to central Canada in 1967 I was fascinated by the site of Expo ‘67 seen from the Ocean Limited from Pont Victoria, that marvel of 19th century British engineering.
Great video! I tried once to film a ride on this train line on the front of the cab but I wasn't allowed.
It all depends on the operator I suppose.
Post 9/11? Maybe they didn’t want terrorists filming the approaches :)
Can't wait for a metro cab ride ;)
Awesome!
Excellente vidéo! Mais dommage que l’on doit supporter le ”small inaudible talk”. Le son du train et du chemin de fer aurait été plus agréable pour les visiteurs sur UA-cam!
I did a similar video from the back window, it came out better because the sky was grey and sun wasn't so strong
***** Hi there! There are some train schedules of the new AMT Mascouche line that are now available since the line is opening to the public in December 1st 2014. I've scanned one of those schedules and it is available on my flickr album. You can check it on my links.
How do you easily get permission to film out the front window? It’s harder to do on NJT
I know this is late, but was the driver able to cause loco in back to switch from diesel to electric before entering central station?
There was no need. Since the train didn’t run through to the Deux-Montagnes or Mascouche lines, no switch is needed (if it was an ALP-45DP in trail).
@@BenLomonRail Due to severe restrictions on use of diesels within Central station, I would have though that AMT/EXO would be usig the bi mode locos to switch to electric for a graceful entrance and exit to the station
Oldest Bridge in Canada !
Those NJ TRANSIT Bi Level cars are BadAss.Cheers to CANADA.
REMY SHAND
It was a joint contract between the AMT and NJ Transit. Same goes with the ALP-45DP locomotives.
+The NovaBUS Fan Okay.
This line needs electrification and higher speeds.
How come I all those people in th back?
As I stated, it was the operators chatting back and forth. I wasn't just going to tell them to stop while I filmed. :P
Very slow moving train
It was moving at track for that section of track. It's slower likely because of the Victoria Bridge.
poorly lit station
