We rush, often mindlessly, through a myriad of activites on a daily basis. Our schedules are both tightly packed and somehow we always feel guilty for not doing more.
Every once in a while, we must remember that we are people. People can be confused, lost, scared, sad, happy, estatic, joyful. We have the right to stare at the night sky and feel a sense of beatitude that overwhelms us. We can let our minds wander on adventures. What's over the mountain? Is there a treasure in that deep lake?

Ah I see you are weary as well…. Rest well fellow adventurer’s, for your journey has become all but finished. there is much to do until your true last rest.
I just finished my final medical rotation (in pediatrics) after switching every five weeks from emergency medicine, family medicine, inpatient psychiatrics, a rural emergency medicine, OBGYN, surgery, internal medicine and then pediatrics. I don't feel proud yet until I get my final test grade back (to see if I passed) and then the boards of course. BUT- what I do feel is obliterated. I am broke, eating one thing l a day losing weight, highly caffeinated, and narcotic lately in trying to be perfect for my preceptors (the MD's) who berate me if I answer a question wrong. I fell asleep on the couch....finally... after my last rotation exam, I was able to sleep. To dream. To close my eyes. To be held by the couch cushions and a blanky. I have gotten 3 hours of sleep consecutively and I just find myself thinking....what have I done by choosing medicine.....The way the opening song makes me feel is healed....finally healing....me.....listening to my heart. My breathing. My needs. and letting me know that I'm sorry I haven't been there for my own body. Rest. Peace. That I too am aloud to be a human and make mistakes and not know the answer to something. I put way too much pressure on myself.....And you know what I think about? Is having a pet bunny, a vegetable garden and a rocking chair. Before school I wanted a stupid Porsche. Now I just want to be a human again. I've become machine. detached. This song brings me back to everything I once was. innocent. perfectly human. Listening to this song and dozing out on the couch is holding two middle fingers up to the stress and expectations. F*ck it. I am safe now. In this space. Even if just for an evening.
