I 100% agree with you. When they did Ali on autopsy it really opened my eyes because he had been secretly going to the doctor from the time he made his comeback. He had been feeling there was something wrong with him two and a half years before he fought George Foreman and it just kept getting worse. Mayweather on the other hand never had to deal with physical problems so it's easier for him to say he was better. But Prime for Prime Ali was the best.

Muhammad and Floyd both are in my top 10 boxers of all time (without ranking) but the difference between them was outside the ring Floyd life is about gambling and parties Muhammad's was about civil rights , counter racism and national peace (iraq 1990 and Vietnam ) so I can say Floyd was one of the greatest to enter the ring and ali was one of the greatest to walk on this earth

Just because Ali lost his boxing license for years and didn't come back with the special skills he once had, it should not be included in the deciding factors that he was not the the greatest. Before Ali went to jail from refusing to go to a unnecessary war, he was never defeated before that. We need to calculate his records before he lost those 4 years. He was not the same fighter when he came back. He was still good and still beat some of the greats but he was not the same boxer that was almost impossible to get hit. Your accomplishments should not be judged when you get older and can't fight like you use to, should not overshadow your earlier greatness.

Both different weight classes, different challenges as one wanted to keep his perfect record intact, the other wanted to beat the greatest boxers around to be the greatest, so a bit hard to compare for sure. But we all know Ali is the greatest and appreciate his style of boxing more in an era which was frightening. But I do admire Floyd’s defensive ability as well. Can’t they both be GOATs of their respective weight class? We can only speculate who would win in a match between the two if the grounds were fair but we’ll never know, though I doubt Mayweather would consider it until Ali is past his prime, Ali was scary fast.

People seem to forget that when Ali first came on the scene and even a decent amount of time into his career people did not like him. Other fighters did not like him, they felt he talked too much shit. It wasn't until everyone recognized how great he truly was that he started getting his dues. Same goes with Floyd. It won't be until he is gone that people will truly realize how great that man was.
I was about to post something exactly like this and then I read your comment. It's so true, Mayweather may not be better than many fighters in P4P. But so was the case with Ali, No one gave him chance against Liston. And when Ali began Sugar Ray, Dempsey and Marciano were considered legends and no one considered Ali in their light.
