The real reason today’s ladies don’t stay through thick and thin is not independence. I believe it is about understanding mental health. Our Grandmothers were put through an enormous amount of trauma. They were taught to stay even if they are getting their skull cracked. We have embraced the importance of mental health.
Great comment and it is so much the truth. Those marriages mostly were based on survival and women depending on men for their basic needs. That is not the makings of a real relationship. Of course men took advantage and there was abuse, men having whike families doen the street, and overall disrespect. Can't blame a woman for wanting to be sure she is not in a position to be abused like that.
Some of us have also embraced self-love and self-respect. When you truly love yourself and respect yourself, you won't allow a man or anyone to disrespect your life.
That is why I have left past relationships. I refuse to be mentally, emotionally, verbally or physically abused by a man or anyone else, even family members.
I agree; a part 2 is needed. The fact that they have a marriage where if they are upset with one another; they are still there for one another. Granted, because they have been married for a long time, they had to grow into this way of communication. I love it and I am here for it. It’s good to hear a males perspective on marriage and what women can do better to become available for a man and let a man know that we need them.
Just watched this episode and wanted to comment on the “independent woman”. Most women today would rather have a good man that they can feel safe with and depend on however, when we experience heartbreak, disappointment and various unpleasant situations within our relationships consistently, it makes us decide that we can do better by ourselves. No one wants to be alone but sometimes it’s easier being single. I really enjoyed this episode…
He didn't ask his wife what she brings to the table, he said he is the table 🎤drop They accept each other as their genuine self and no expectation of what the world says, and wisdom taken from his parents and grandparents.
I couldn't stop crying laughing he has to come back with his wife. Hilarious! He dropped a few gems for all of us that those who want to get married can cherish. Great job ! Laterras!!!!!
I make it a point to teach my son , chase your dreams now , live by yourself, build your credit, save your money. He doesn't have to depend on no woman to take care of him, he can take care of her. I told him when he gets married, don't have kids rite off the rip. Njoy ur wife, travel and make alot of memories, have ur finances n order and have ur own place and car. He's shown me that he listened. He'll b 32n Feb. Graduated w/his Batchelors (working towards his masters), has a good job n his career field making 6digits, has his own place and car and no kids @ this point. I'm so grateful. I spent Christmas @ his place, he cooked Christmas dinner. I spent the nite, it was a really special feeling... I'm so grateful to God that he got it. He beat the odds and is a successful, independent young man w/goals and determination. I feel so blessed. Wishing U and ur son all the best.

I don’t appreciate this man putting me and my husband of 10 years business out there, lol….swear he hit every point in my relationship….I’m sending this to every couple I know…you all stay blessed…bout to try and binge watch every episode…thanks for your podcast
I took a lot of notes for my Future Husband but also in-laws. That was a hidden gem when he said his mother in-law and sister in-law would call to say they were praying with no judgment or force her on him. 🙏🏾
He got me with the fixing + cooking part! 😄😄 I'm a cooker but I rarely feel like doing it so I do a lot of fixing!! Fixing smoothies, tacos, sushi, cereal, salad, potato salad, pasta etc. It works. No skinny people in my house! 😆 😆 😆
I'm rolling over here 🤣🤣🤣 the combination jokes and knowledge he dropped on us was inevitable. As a single woman he gave me a different perspective on a lot of things 1❤️
First, hilarious episode😂😂😂. Second Marcus said the more independent a woman, the more harder for her to get married. This is exactly why I be calling my dad with my many requests. Trust and believe, I can do almost everything on my own. However, I’m not trying to be or appear independent. I’m not going to be faking it like I don’t require a man because I do.
H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!!! He kept it LIT! Marriage definitely puts an anointing over your lives. Once both parties learn to appreciate the the other’s difference, the marriage “should “thrive. It may not be easy, but in the end you know that he is working all things out for your good.

You knocked it out the park Sir. The fact that you can be married and STILL grow in your differences is everything. I love it! This is one of the most transparent episodes I’ve seen. ❤️❤️❤️
“When you find someone that’s into you like that…” wow…to hear a man who knows his wife is into him AND appreciates and LOVES it…🙌🏾😭🙌🏾Okay, still watching…
Yes, back in the day women tolerated many things because they were so financially dependent on their husbands. Also, people never mention how miserable those women were. And many independent women would love a man to take lead and be there. But why no one addresses the issue of the lack of men in the black community that have no desire to be married or committed to one woman or the men removed from the community due to prison or drugs. Leaving many women to raise children alone or to build alone. We are independent by necessity. When I look at my non black sisters very few are left without a man to protect or help them…a father, a husband or a brother. You wouldn’t believe the number of independent women who are TIRED but keep pushing because they have to.
A woman always needs to be independent. If you find a good man.. most certainly go for it! 100% but I didn’t like the fact that they talked about the men having families down the street.. and the women stayed.. is that what is wanted? Hell to the no
I get it..but I'm going to play devil's advocate just for a second. The cookie can't be enjoyed unless a woman gives it away/shares it. I think the conversation should also include men who don't want to commit because so many women are so easy, so in his mind he's thinking "why do I need a committed relationship when women are throwing it at me left and right". Then if you look further into this you get people like Future, the rapper (multiple children, different women). At some point women have to have discernment.
I think your letter idea is so beautiful! It rejuvenated my hope that there is a sentimental, nerdy, reading and writing black man out there somewhere for me.
I've been married 37 years. Even though there were lots of laughs and jokes, there was so much wisdom and truth. I really enjoyed this episode. My husband and I even saw him in person at our church. What a blessing. I love the part about being free and reading the Bible for oneself. Depending on what church a person attends, there can be total bondage. Thank God for the spiritual leaders who are really preaching God's word and showing compassion just like Jesus.
Absolutely loved this podcast. So glad to see them hit 25 years! I’m still looking forward to that many! He is coming. “ a whisper “ I’m 55 and want to release this beast” sadly and I’m literally meaning sadly been abstinent almost 10 years. BABIIIIIIIIIIIIII, the withdrawal is a terrible thing! I thought for a while I was gonna go to prison for scrape. While praying the Lord remove that desire from me while I’m waiting it got super hard to tears many times! But God pulled me through! DEAR FUTURE LOVER MAN- take all your vitamins cause she coming for ya! Be blessed family. Love you LaTerras
Sis I understand your pain. I’ve never ask God to remove the desire but just to calm it. I’ve been abstinent 25 yrs 😡🤦🏾♀️😢. I ask to please take me off the waiting list and send my future hubby on. Yes he’s going to need vitamins for this 64 yr young Queen for real. LORD send out husbands please
@@roslyngraham5883 On one accord! I’m asking now Lord if you know I’m ready to please take me off the “waiting list” and come on with my honey boo man. Thanks sis I never asked. I just kept saying I’m waiting patiently.
"But since I'm here, listen to me." 🤣🤣🤣 And the way he was pronouncing coconuts. Hilarious. This podcast is amazing. Men need to shift if they want to be needed or wanted, women did for protection from controlling/abusive/lazy spouses, for choices, for an education and ultimately out of necessity. There is nothing wrong with being wanted, because need sounds exhausting to me. I do not want to marriages or dynamics in the relationships my parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts had/have. Things have shifted, and men will be hard pressed to find women that need them unless they are much young or literally off the street.
When he explained richer or poorer maaaaan 2 marriages later I finally hear it!!!! Loved he had his grandad and dad’s teachings and they stuck in his mind.
My favorite part was when he broke. down the wedding vows. Truth received. I never thought of them along those lines. I love when my mind is challenged and makes me ponder. Good job👍🏼
I randomly clicked on this video, 1st time coming across this channel. I wanted to listen to something with substance as I cook dinner for my family…goodness gracious, I was crying laughing and agreeing to all the truths Marcus shared. Enjoyed this tremendously!
BY FAR, THE FUNNIEST, REALEST, MOST LIT, PHENOMENALLY AND HYSTERICALLY UNIQUE, TRANSPARENT, LIVEST, SELF CHECKING EPISODE ON THE WHOLE INNANET!!! OMG!! I laughed, I cried, I watched it again and again and again! Thank you Laterras for having Marcus on the show!! He blessed my entire soul. I don't even know what I'm gone have the choir sing at my funeral, but Baby, I done put Marcus name down to do my notices and announcements, I don't need no Eulogy after this, get your life and laugh while you doing it!!!
Laterras was dying on that chair… lol sliding off and everything. This is one of the best episodes I’ve watched… lots of gems 💎 and so great to watch… I enjoyed it! I can totally relate… being married (12 years) and now divorced (4)…
I LOVE how honest he was about marriage…great job! Let’s have him come back with his better half! I remember him at a comedy show at my church. He was hilarious!🔥🔥🔥
I must've watched this 7 times. This morning in traffic and on my 7 mile walk. This is quite possibly THE BEST marriage dialog I've ever heard! I forgot to play it for my husband last night.
I love Laterres’s laugh, I’ve become addicted to this podcast, he makes people feel comfortable and free to laugh, cry, pray, and sing, I’ve seen it all and it’s edifying to to the soul. I thank God for leading me here 😍🥰
I sent this to my brother and his girlfriend. I loved every second of this conversation. I laughed so hard. It was funny, honest, thoughtful, respectful and responsible.
Hello Kings!! WOW!! This discussion is sooo good!! My husband and I are going on year seven. We are definitely still evolving and growing together. We are not the same people we were six years ago. We are actually better despite our differences. We embrace what we do have in common and love each other no matter what. May God continue to lead and guide you Laterras! I hope that my hubby and I can go on your show and share our story in the future. We do plan to save some money to attend one of your retreats in the near future. 🙏🏽💯🙌🏽❤️
This was enlightening & hilarious from beginning to end. I’m a first timer, I’ve never heard of this podcast but GOD allowed me to come across it on a TikTok reel on FB & I came straight to UA-cam to watch. I’m a fan now!
Hi there this is my first time listening in and I just want to add that some women would love to not feel the need to be completely independent in today’s society but at the same time would like to have a man that can be trusted, that respects himself, his family and is God fearing… it’s just not that easy all the time! It’s not a cut and dry situation! Great show by the way!
Great information on marriage and hilarious at the same time. I also like the fact that he stated that he is the table and doesn't worry about what she's bringing.
I hope Marcus is able to incorporate this material into his stand up acts, maybe he has already. I was literally in tears from laughing so hard. He was dropping so much wisdom but in such a funny way. As Laterras said, when you open your mouth to laugh the message drops in as well. I choked a few times but it was still FUNNY and TRUE!
I am CRYIIIING🤣😂🤣😂🤣 "Just Hold me....Can I be the little spoon now?" This was a FANTASTIC, realistic, and hilarious episode. It just keeps getting better and better Laterras. Great episode🙌🏾
I love the way you laugh. I'm laughing at you laughing at him. The way you fall out laughing is so contagious. This episode was funny but so insightful.
I dont watch nothing over and over again. no movie no series, no sermon. so when I say I am watching this over and over again lol. this is my favourite interview.
I literally almost spit my coffee out when he said…. (then we will end up doing it)…. 😂😂😂 He is sooo stupid! Great podcast and relevant for such a time as this. Thank you “Man of God” for being a vessel and sharing and allowing US to heal through this portal!🔥🔥💕💕💕
Marcus is hilarious. Had to empty my bladder from non-stop laughing listening to this show. Marcus dropped some real gems of wisdom and truth that hit my heart, mind, and soul. Would love part #2, 3, 4, etc. with Marcus and his wife. ❤️🙏
I loved this episode!! Mr. Wiley kept it all the way real! He gave me something to think about while preparing for my Future Husband meaning when he talked about the Bible preparing you for marriage and his testimony. I took so many notes! What also rang true to me is that Mr. Wiley pressed that I have to do the work. I have watched this one three times now! STILL! I want my future husband to say that beautiful four letter word, STILL.
Laterras! U did it again! I love Marcus Wiley, he is da truth & he has always kept it LIT in his comedies, have heard him live several times! I agree with another listener who said to bring his wife on for Part 2! We needed this Laugh & LIT episode! Look, for those of us who are brides in waiting, hang in there, this is the Year of the Bride! God is about to blow our minds!🙏🏿🙏🏿👏🏾💪🏿💪🏿❤️❤️
Laterras When Marcus said , YOU NEED A WIFE THAT CAN READ🤣🤣my belly was hurting from that one and then he didn’t quit 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🔥👍🏼Great show 🔥Great show 🔥👍🏼
This episode did not disappoint! I’ve been a fan of Marcus Wiley since the days of the Yolanda Adams show. He is full of wisdom, honesty and keeps you laughing. I LOL 😂😂😂 so much and I needed it today! This is the first time I ever hit the replay button immediately. I don’t know who else this applies to, but since the very first episode, it’s been the letters 💌 for me! Each one gives me hope that my days are drawing closer to meeting my future husband. 💖
I feel the same about the letters. I always look forward to them, and Laterras never disappoints there. I find them encouraging, and they give me hope.
This podcast meant so much to me! I actually have a box that says BELIEVE where I write my letters from my heart. This is very encouraging! Thank you! #RuthInWaiting
This was genuinely a great episode. I have watched some great interviews here but this was both hilarious and I learned a lot. Thank you for this amazing podcast. Laughter is indeed the best medicine.
As a single woman not ever being married and listening to your moments of appreciating the journey of a relationship made me think of who really knows me enough to say yes I do want to walk that journey of marriage with me and I hope he wants the same.
Omg, this had to be THE FUNNIEST episode ever. I love Marcus Wiley and everything he said was definitely on point. Much blessings to him and his wife as they continue to grow 🙏🏾
This segment was sooo dope!! I enjoyed listening and laughing with you. There were sooo many valuable nuggets of truth mixed in with this beautiful and funny interview. Thank you both!!
This episode was AMAZING!!! He touched on ALL the things that married life comes with. I've learned a lot about myself and walk away with a better perspective on my husband's experiences. So grateful!! 🌱🙏🏽
This was very fun to watch and listen. I felt like Marcus was really telling it like it is and not trying to appear like marriage is perfect and all great. Really enjoyed this. He really did keep it LIT
I had to watch this twice. Marcus is hilarious and so very LIT! The biggest takeaway I got from this episode was, "Still". We often think of marriage in this fairytale sense and I'm glad he kept it real regarding the things we don't like being amplified in marriage. Marcus, blessings to u and ur wife. On to 25 years and forevermore🎉🎉🎉 Laterras, when u find her, my prayer is that each day u will both wake up to one another declaring 'still' over ur marriage. Be blessed.
I've seen one or two of your episodes but this one not only caught my attention to start watching last night, it was the 1st thing I watched this morning. This was one of my favorite podcasts episodes ever! Thank u! Also, I'm trying to figure out why you haven't met your wife yet. That letter was breathtaking. God speed in your journey to her.
My stomach is hurting, I need CPR, this was hilarious and informative 🤣🤣🤣. He has given both sexes the REALITY of marriage. I would love to hear from his wife, she must be just as hilarious as he is. I love his transparency and honesty 💯💯💯💯🤣🤣. I pray God's blessings of many more anniversaries to celebrate wirh good health, love, happiness and laughter
I Love this show!! 🤣 LOL But I will say the reason alot of us women especially me as a single mother, have to get homes and do things alone is because men will not step up in our lives. I want so much to be able to let go for once in my life and allow a man to lead and provide and submit to his leadership but it's like you cant find a man who wants to love you in that way and wants to provide and take on that responsibiltiy. This is what I find hurts us as women becasue we want to be able to support and surrender those responsibilites. I certainly need what God created in the man for my life, to cover me, pray for me, love me, and provide for me not just finacially but emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. I love everything about this show and even the comedy in marriage that you just have to laugh at sometimes! Relationships are work but I belive it is worth it!
😄Hilarious! I actually clapped at the end of the episode. The life experience he shared is essential. In reference to what he said in the beginning, we readers are out here. Bookworms, standup! Thanks to your guest.

Some of us have also embraced self-love and self-respect. When you truly love yourself and respect yourself, you won't allow a man or anyone to disrespect your life.

When he said “black love is day to day” after being married 25 years… I almost fell off this treadmill😅😂😂😂
This was the best episode ever! I laughed and gained so much. We need a part 2 with his wife. To ask her how does she deal with all of this 😂😂😂😂
Yes please to the part two!!
Agreed!!! This was great, part 2 please!!!!!!
Yes, pt 2 P L E A S E!!!🤣😂😂

Speaking to the “shortage of men”. I believe “Mass incarceration “ plays a major role in black male shortages. :)
So true. Wonder why people never talk about that.
Met Marcus at The Hope Church of Orlando when our Bishop had him there. What you see on the episode is what you get in person. Such a humble guy.
Thank you Laterras for stating why women had to be independent, out of necessity. I am happy I’m able to have the balance that you mentioned.
Absolutely!!
Lol
@@moniquedependable3782 we’re in agreement for our husbands amen hallelujah thank You Jesus for Your glory
What a good story teller. I could listen to him the whole day
"But since I'm here, listen to me." 🤣🤣🤣 And the way he was pronouncing coconuts.
Not even young
I can't with Marcus D Wiley!!! He said "it seems like I got to let her have a boyfriend"🤣😂
I laugh non stop with this guy. He is a real comedian. "Just hold me, i will be the little spoon"😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣😆🤣🤣 i watch this podcast 3 times 🇯🇲
When he explained richer or poorer maaaaan 2 marriages later I finally hear it!!!! Loved he had his grandad and dad’s teachings and they stuck in his mind.
Most couples that are married forget the vows, when things get tough in a marriage... The Truth And Nothing But The Truth 💯🎯
Same exact thing happened to me!!!
Wow, I loved how he explained the meaning of the vows, poor and richer, sickness and health… profound
This was the BESTTTT poscasttttt I have heard. I was rolling and it was great gems. Thank you for having him!! Blessings! 😊
I'll be the little spoon🥄🤣🤣🤣, laughter does a heart merry... every episode is a different gift and blessing 💜💜💜
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. Laughter is good medicine. Laterras' laugh cracks me up every time. Great work!
Laterras was dying on that chair… lol sliding off and everything. This is one of the best episodes I’ve watched… lots of gems 💎 and so great to watch… I enjoyed it! I can totally relate… being married (12 years) and now divorced (4)…
I had so much fun. Lol
The fact that he said the “Oven is preheating on 350 for 2 weeks” 😂😂😂
And “yo wife is FIXING” 😭😭😭
I LOVE how honest he was about marriage…great job! Let’s have him come back with his better half! I remember him at a comedy show at my church. He was hilarious!🔥🔥🔥
This guy is dropping knowledge in thee most hilarious way ever!!! 🤣 I love it!
“I think it gets better because the people in it get better.”🙌
I must've watched this 7 times. This morning in traffic and on my 7 mile walk. This is quite possibly THE BEST marriage dialog I've ever heard! I forgot to play it for my husband last night.
This was SO good! I love hearing from married men in regards to marriage. This was full of laughs & SO many gems.
I laughed and I cried. One of the best conversations ever. I could listen to this guy all day. So many gems. You've got to bring him back.
😂 “my wife went from a fixer to a cooker” 😂 I love love ❤️
I'm 37:30 minutes in and said "this man is too funny, he has to be a comedian".. read the description and YUP. I have laughed (and learned) so much.
Barely 6 minutes in and I’m so appreciative of the laughter I’ve released already. 😂
New subscriber. I wish I found this channel sooner, but I'm happy I found it at all. It came at the right time in my life.
I love this episode 😆😅🤣. Ya'll kept it so LIT
Marcus is hilarious. Had to empty my bladder from non-stop laughing listening to this show. Marcus dropped some real gems of wisdom and truth that hit my heart, mind, and soul. Would love part #2, 3, 4, etc. with Marcus and his wife. ❤️🙏
By far thee best episode ever. Funny and educational at the same time.
I HAVE WATCHED THIS 5 TIMES! So transparent with humor.
Thank you soooooomuch.
PERIOD! Yes it is!
Thoroughly enjoyed Marcus' honesty, comedy and listening to his marriage journey!❤❤
Today so many single adults are afraid to just lean on each other to develop something more. I'm so happy for y'all
Love seeing the host fall out laughing😅😂🤣🤣
As a single woman not ever being married and listening to your moments of appreciating the journey of a relationship made me think of who really knows me enough to say yes I do want to walk that journey of marriage with me and I hope he wants the same.
Love that he STILL wants his wife.
Welcome to the journey
My stomach is hurting, I need CPR, this was hilarious and informative 🤣🤣🤣. He has given both sexes the REALITY of marriage. I would love to hear from his wife, she must be just as hilarious as he is. I love his transparency and honesty 💯💯💯💯🤣🤣. I pray God's blessings of many more anniversaries to celebrate wirh good health, love, happiness and laughter
Wisdom coupled with humor🤣 Top-tier teaching. This was profound.
