The other singers are very good singers but those styles have been around forever it is so wonderful, beautiful, different, with Iam Tongi. He is different. The rest of the singers are so regular. Everyone sings that way. I am tired of hearing that ways of singing. It is so beautiful and steady and silky, his voice is so beautiful.

As long as America is voting, it's a popularity contest. I agree with everything you say about his voice. He doesn't have the greatest voice, but he has heart, soul and passion. He has a presence about him. He has a charisma about him. He has an innocence about him. He has just the right amount of everything that makes him special. He doesn't need to dance around. He doesn't need to shout, but he's been projecting more and his voice is more powerful than he's let on.
Iam is young and with no professional voice training he did so well is my personal opinion. Now there’s much more opportunities for him to grow and give him time.
He needs a vocal coach like you, but you have to remember that Iam family was living paycheck to paycheck and could not afford to send him voice lesson and that why they move from Hawaii to Seattle because they were price out of paradise and move to a cheaper State. Iam was just and everyday boy off the street who love music will hopefully win as he said earlier in the show his father use to push him and now, that he is in American Idol is pushing him and is grateful for the show. Iam Tongi will listen to anyone's advice in a heat beat. He is not ashamed to admit if he screws up notes in front of the judges. His truthiness is what make him so lovable!

While I fully understand and partly agree with what you're saying, I also disagree. We relate and connect with Iam hugely because he's NOT using his full potential. It makes him real and vulnerable, authentic and it allows him to connect with his emotions. Sure, at some point I'd love to hear him tap into his voice ability greatness, but those things are not what makes an amazing singer as far as I'm concerned. If it was we would all be rooting for We Ani or Megan Danielle. While they are fantastic and amazing in every way, vocally and emotionally, it's still Iam most of us connect with, and that tells us something very important about singing. Personally I absolutely love when he sings in his lower range, and while I also love him singing in his upper range there's no need to rush anything. He's not supposed to be have reached his prime and height. We want something to look forward to, the build up a song translated into the build up Iam as an artist. I don’t think every artist needs to belt out their vocals or become the next Mariah/Whitney, every artist is different.. I think this is just his style that people already love, I don’t think he’s ever had a vocal coach so I don’t think he’s fully shown all his capabilities yet but he’s already being himself /authenticity and can clearly show that he knows how to convey emotion in his singing and that’s why I think America loves him.

For Iam's finals performance, my choices are: a. James Blunt's "Monster". Iam sung this as tearful, touching ballad in his audition. I'd like to hear a different rendition, this one as a validation of Iam having done his dad proud. A song of promises fulfilled. Quite a challenge, huh? But Iam is a great storyteller. b. Diamond Rio's "One More Day". I'd like to see Iam sing in a little higher chord than he's been doing lately, but still stay within his comfort level. This is a song Iam has sung countless times before and has sufficient room at the top to let loose his vocals. I believe that it has the bones to take Iam over the top.
I love that song as well❤️❤️👍 and many of his videos singing were great, however in my opinion his voice his just starting to mature. At a certain age young mens voices crack for up to as many as 6 years. He is starting to come into his own!! He’s not yet realized his full ability, but he’s getting there. And believe me, after this show he’s going to have doors open in every direction!! Vocal coaching and the whole 9 yards!! He’s got more in his tank, believe that!! I agree with your assessment. He was a little too comfortable with this rendition. Not that he needed to belt out a completely different version. Just that I expected a "little bit more". I would have been satisfied if he had simply finished by holding that last high (E) note a couple of seconds longer, instead of finishing with the anticlimactic final refrain that was much lower.
You know he’s self taught only by his dad actually who taught him how to play guitar and sing songs together and it was more of the ballads he’s never had any professional voice coaches so if he does get one .. at this point I’m sure he’s working with one plus you got to remember he just graduated high school he’s 18 yrs old he got so much in his future 💯
I just noticed you never reacted to "Bring It On Home To Me" bc this is the song where he shone the most & went all out (so react to that). He can sing loud but he's scared to do it. Also, react to "Sound of Silence" or even Lionel's "Stuck on You". Iam is the best singer in the competition bc he has that sound from the 80's and 90's when music was good not what we have now. He also connects with people bc his voice is soulful, heartfelt and empathetic. He is everything we are missing in the music industry. That's why he is the BEST. PS - Listen to his duet with Oliver too bc they nailedt Ed's "Photograph".

Iam has consistently led social media polls. I'm not sure where he stands with American Idol votes. He certainly gets the biggest live audience reactions, but that only represents the West Coast fan base.

The past few years have been country singers who have won. Colin is cute and sings well. We Ani is in a class by herself.

For Iam's finals performance, my choices are:
a. James Blunt's "Monster". Iam sung this as tearful, touching ballad in his audition. I'd like to hear a different rendition, this one as a validation of Iam having done his dad proud. A song of promises fulfilled. Quite a challenge, huh? But Iam is a great storyteller.
b. Diamond Rio's "One More Day". I'd like to see Iam sing in a little higher chord than he's been doing lately, but still stay within his comfort level. This is a song Iam has sung countless times before and has sufficient room at the top to let loose his vocals. I believe that it has the bones to take Iam over the top.
I love that song as well❤️❤️👍 and many of his videos singing were great, however in my opinion his voice his just starting to mature. At a certain age young mens voices crack for up to as many as 6 years. He is starting to come into his own!! He’s not yet realized his full ability, but he’s getting there. And believe me, after this show he’s going to have doors open in every direction!! Vocal coaching and the whole 9 yards!! He’s got more in his tank, believe that!! Up until now he’s just sang the melody and harmonized with his dad. It’s progress not perfection. All things in due time!! Stay tuned cuz Iam got pipes he’s not yet realized or discover🙏❤️👍🏆🥰🔥💯

I wise beautiful Mentor had said “When he sings he sounds like he’s lived a million lifetimes” When Iam sings people recognize his voice cause it’s his signature. I don't agree what he says singers stick what they know on that show Iam has done all kinds of songs and maid it his own there not going to go out and do other songs they can't do Iam sings anything and makes it his own and I agree with some of ya comments he just going to get better as time comes even singers that have one Grammys sound like crap live cause it's not in a studio he sounds pretty dame good live now and he's very humble when he screws up he says it just like one of ya comments had said but let me tell you he's lot better then whats on the radio now theses days way better

I agree with your assessment. He was a little too comfortable with this rendition. Not that he needed to belt out a completely different version. Just that I expected a "little bit more".
I would have been satisfied if he had simply finished by holding that last high (E) note a couple of seconds longer, instead of finishing with the anticlimactic final refrain that was much lower.
Yet Alanis said he did it even better than they planned???
I think that is what make Iam different his voice is like a Roller Coster ride! Just listen to the audience reaction enjoying the ride with IAM.

You know he’s self taught only by his dad actually who taught him how to play guitar and sing songs together and it was more of the ballads he’s never had any professional voice coaches so if he does get one .. at this point I’m sure he’s working with one plus you got to remember he just graduated high school he’s 18 yrs old he got so much in his future 💯

I just noticed you never reacted to "Bring It On Home To Me" bc this is the song where he shone the most & went all out (so react to that). He can sing loud but he's scared to do it. Also, react to "Sound of Silence" or even Lionel's "Stuck on You". Iam is the best singer in the competition bc he has that sound from the 80's and 90's when music was good not what we have now. He also connects with people bc his voice is soulful, heartfelt and empathetic. He is everything we are missing in the music industry. That's why he is the BEST. PS - Listen to his duet with Oliver too bc they nailedt Ed's "Photograph".

Iam has consistently led social media polls. I'm not sure where he stands with American Idol votes. He certainly gets the biggest live audience reactions, but that only represents the West Coast fan base.
From my opinion He is what I needed to hear. He is what the world needs to hear. That’s what i call music it touches your soul. Now a days what they call music is having better runs or who can scream the loudest and etc. Nobody did what Iam did. He connected with the listeners.

The only trained singer left is We Ani who has been training for years. She and Megan were both on The Voice and did not win. Iam is just 18, Colin is young, Zach is 19 years old. The past few years have been country singers who have won. Colin is cute and sings well. We Ani is in a class by herself.
