Recently been playing battle cats unite for the switch, and it actually uses a simular idea. The game condences each campaign (EOC, ITF, and COTC) into one 48 stage chapter and honestly the pacing just feels super good so far.
note to yourself that using your catfood on non guaranteed pulls and your tickets on banners that arent fests is not the best idea if you want to maximize your uber chance. My discord has every upcoming gacha and advice on whether you should pull it or not.
I have the exact opposite problem. I have maxed EoC energy treasures and around halfway + levels for energy, yet I find myself only having around 3 or so leaderships that I want to save. Despite that, I have hacker cat, Jurassic cat, painter cat, hip-hop cat, shrimp cat, and weightlifter cat along with some decent Ubers.
I like the idea of shortening the chapters, but i think making the initial chapters that challenging is not the way to go. Note that new players are just in the game to spend time on this goofy game, they don't want to strategise as much in the early game. Also keeping the buffs consistant will make the players less frustrated, because imagine beating an hippo easily, then you just drop a x2 hippoe. They will get frustrated because that easy enemy they have beaten us now a pain in the ass. Also note that the super strategy stages may not even be possible, since in the early chapters you don't have that much levels, new players will normally just throw all their xp on ninja or distribute it and have 5 cats at lvl 4, and maybe the base upgrades at 6. And even with 2.5 xp, you still don't get as much xp
I just want to say I tested the stages with the minimum levels I believe any normal person would have at that point, with no gacha cats, very limited special cats and no treasures. I do agree with the magnification point, if I could I would add some text wall explaining how they work as well as possibly indicators for magnification strength, but these are things you will have to grow accustomed to eventually. Maybe it shouldnt be right at the start of the game yeah, but the jump in sol isnt really linear either
Yeah sure, but it certainly makes it better designed for new players, as chapter 3 is usually the biggest road block for them, only for them to realize you have to grind the first 2 chapter’s treasures to actually tackle the final boss.
How? Whats the charm in suffering through 3 identical chapters and spending hours grinding just to get the basic stats needed to survive the rest of the game? Maybe its nostalgic, but you have to realize stuff like this is why new players are turned off.

Also I feel like the game NEEDS to be pretty simple and straightforward early on, because of the large amount of young kids playing the game. Some of the ideas are pretty good tho.
I 100% agree, I can so easily see envision new players getting frustrated at these snakes that they used to kill without a hitch, now tearing down their units.
I think once you finish the first three chapters of empire of cats it all of a sudden opens the legend stages and into the future which makes it much more interesting with more options

I think you missed the part where I mentioned every stage will you give you around 2.5 times the xp to make up for there being less stages. I also tested the stages with lower unit levels than what the average player would have. valid concern though

I’m finishing EoC 3 superior treasure cleanup (I already have superior moon) and the hardest thing for me is the energy cost. I often run out of energy after like 5 stages, and I have all superior Energy treasures along with + level 5 energy.
For everyone who hates treasure grinding and stuff I suggest waiting for the half sale event and then buy speedups for 25 catfood I mean 25 catfood for 9 speed ups is so goated

Anyways, since like half the comments are people lamenting their gacha luck, allow me to share my story. My first, second, and fourth ubers were First Love Myrcia, which I have literally seen on top ten lists of worst ubers in Battle Cats. Unfortunately, I had no idea what talents were or how they worked, since this was before I had even really started working on ItF chapter 1. Thus, I stare at my +2 First Love Myrcia with seething rage every time I scroll through my ubers.
There really is only one problem for battle cats and it's the account saving system many player like myself have lost there account for various reasons and can't recover them because the recovery system sucks .I wish they add a new feature where you can save your account like register a email or something
trust me sol is quite fun when you get to around the 20s to 30s it can feel like a slog but anything before that aint too bad and everything after is kinda annoying but still
Early SOL is boring and basically the same thing, however later stages of sol begin to require thought on how to tackle it, some are puzzles like grotesque gallery being a notorious chapter. Then ZL is..... Idk how to describe it, maybe early SOL but with a twist?
My suggestion for chapter 2 is to make it have a bit more stages Change the boss to not be too boring Maybe add a special cat or a normal cat or two with some new enemies maybe modded maybe not
Good try, I always hated that first three chapters are almost exactly same. I agree that the battle cats content is very repetitive but I think that the Empire of Cats is the least annoying. Bigger problem is Stories of Legend. You have to beat each chapter at least four times. And you can't use treasure radars to speed up this process. And the most annoying are some of the event stages, because they are pure grinding: very easy, not interesting, the reward is usually wothless.
I kinda disagree, sol is not as braindead as eoc and itf are, especially when it comes to treasure grinding. Sure you can say its annoying to have to change your lineup for every stage then create a new lineup for 4* but at least most of the stages are fun especially when the post mina diffspike kicks in. There's also a decent chance your strategy will change a lot between 1*, 3* and 4* so there's a decent bit of variety in there

Another thing: When the Unit is a boss it‘s extremely OP for example: The cat god when you fight against him literally one shots everything you have. And when you get him urself and use him he can‘t even one shot a elephant wich my Uber Rare Cake Machine already can 💀💀💀

For early to mid game, treasures and the repetitive nature of stages really hinders the experience. I’m find with having long chapters, but cmon. I would like it that in after chapter 1 of the main story chapters, you battle different locations then the previous chapter with different level design. And also as a bonus, why is the first half of the chapter so easy? The main story chapters are kind of a mess

I literally rolled 9 cat capsules and got no rare ticket and with the chances between capsules and cats there's around a 50/50 chance

I think having easier access to leaderships very early on could be great
RNG isn't really a factor. Depending on your skill, using even only non-rng based units can be enough to complete almost any stage in the game.

The Switch version fixed that, but I felt a bit of bias toward the original and had said "No, that's not-" way too many times.
