7:18 , 8:11 To Jaby and For those who doesn't know this .Yess , you are right there is no medium for the sound to travel cuz its vaccume ...but the black hole they showed was in a distance galaxy where the blackhole is surrounded by galactic clouds of hydrogen so yess it is a special case where u can actually hear the sound but the frequency was way too low... nasa took all the data and The audio produced was originally 57 octaves below middle C, which meant the frequency had to be raised 'quadrillions' of times to be heard by human ears.... that's how they got the sound ...
    have a nice day😊

@@mr.zombzo actually this is half true about the gas surrounding space objects and half false where he says we can hear sound through the gas . Actually we didnt 'hear' but we "saw" the vibrations in the gasclouds through radio wave telescopes . In signal processing terms everything are basically waves . Any wave can be converted and outputed in any form . so a light wave can be converted and outputed as a sound wave and vice versa . Even MIT engineers have made a highspeed camera that can decode sound in a distant room just by observing the vibrations of specific objects in that room .

For those interested…@cinedesi the sound in space can’t can’t be heard because you do not have air to bounce off but if you calculate the frequency, you can then artificially generate that sound on earth. Because that essence sound is a frequency in space it does not have a medium calculate the frequency give it a medium in a controlled environment on earth and you can understand what space object makes what kind of noise

@Learningfordummies the black hole at the center of the Perseus galaxy cluster is the black hole they said they got the sound .... actually in that galaxy cluster the black hole is surrounded by galactic clouds .. and it has jets of plasma shooting into space through the hydrogen clouds ,,..now u got a medium whic is gas.
A new sonification turns X-ray data of “light echoes” captured by NASA's Chandra and Swift X-ray observatories into sound. but the requency was way too low... nasa took all the data and The audio produced was originally 57 octaves below middle C, which meant the frequency had to be raised 'quadrillions' of times to be heard by human ears.

Black holes, by their very nature, don't emit sound waves in the traditional sense. Sound waves need a medium, like air or water, to travel through, and space is a vacuum, devoid of any medium for sound to propagate.
However, scientists can use a technique called sonification to translate data about black holes into sound. This involves assigning specific sounds to different aspects of the data, such as changes in the intensity or frequency of the radio waves emitted by the black hole.
For example, NASA has used sonification to create audio representations of:
Light echoes from the black hole V404 Cygni. These echoes are caused by the black hole's gravitational pull distorting the light from a nearby star. By assigning different pitches to different wavelengths of light, scientists were able to create an eerie, otherworldly soundscape.

What they are likely experiencing is a sonification, where data from other wavelengths, such as X-rays or radio waves, is converted into sound. It's a way to make complex astronomical data more accessible. Keep in mind that you're not hearing actual sounds from space since sound doesn't travel through the vacuum of space. Instead, it's a creative representation based on scientific data.

7:23 so some of the fast moving things which are close to a black hole, but not too close, form an orbital around it, which is called an accretion disk. These are very hot and things inside it are moving violently, it is turbulent. There are charged particles moving inside. And as we all know moving charges produce a magnetic field.
So the accretion disks produce very strong and unstable magnetic fields, which throw material from the inside of the disk. The material is launched as Jetstream at high speeds. These are like pressure waves that hit the surrounding gas and dust, creating ripples of pressure waves.
These are very low frequency. Scientists can observe these low frequency waves and get data on that. Now simply they convert this data to audible sound waves. I think it's called sonification, converting pressure waves to audible sound.

The pictures you see of distant galaxies in space of black holes aren't actual pictures taken from a camera. They are digitally created by doing an analysis of the "recording" of the electromagnetic waves received from that point.
It's the same for sound. They record a ton of data of different aspects and turn it into sound on earth. They're pointing a sound recording mic to the blackhole.

@12:00 they were saying english terms, and then to say the Punjabi words for those terms, they were saying Punjabi numbers.. confusing but here's an example that might help.
So the Punjabi word for brother is Bayi.. and the punjabi word for the number 22 is also Bayi...
    Another one..
The Punjabi word for sleep is 'Sau'.. the punjabi word for the number 100 is 'Sau'...
The Punjabi word for quick is 'Cheti'.. the Punjabi word for the number 36 is also 'Cheti'..
So 'sleep quickly' becomes Cheti Sau (3600).

Yes and no for sound stuff.. Every object which is not at absolute zero temperatures do vibrate.. We humans could hear the sound of an vibrating object which gets coupled through a medium which we call it sound of an object. Even without a medium we can predict the object and it's vibrations as we can still get information of the object through EM waves. Also, these synthetic black holes sounds are distorted to put them into interesting human audio frequency range. Chances are these sounds are distorted or selective in nature and not the raw vibration data.

8:10 that's not sound coming out that's electromagnetic waves coming out from Interstellar space
Scientists converts that wavelength to wavelength for vibrations and hence we can hear it
Which means the sounds are not exactly literally to be taken
But rather the sound shows relation of constant radio burst coming from those celestial bodies it's just that we sense those radio burst through ear as a sound rather than sesing it via other means
That is various frequencies are convertible, which means we can convert the frequencies at which humans can see to frequency for sound(frequency for light converted to frequency for sound)
I dont know if i am correct but this is just my guess

To Jaby and For those who doesn't know this .Yess , you are right there is no medium for the sound to travel cuz its vaccume ...but the black hole they showed was in a distance galaxy where the blackhole is surrounded by galactic clouds of hydrogen so yess it is a special case where u can actually hear the sound but the frequency was way too low... nasa took all the data and The audio produced was originally 57 octaves below middle C, which meant the frequency had to be raised 'quadrillions' of times to be heard by human ears.... ......!!!that's how they got the sound ........!!!!!!!!

Sound needs a medium to propogate but light doesn't need a medium to propogate. Vacuum is term for no medium(particles).

So Jaby, everything that's happening around the black hole has a sound but it can't travel as sound wave due to the void. But it travels like in the forms.. that is radiations of different spectrum. This spectrum are captured and analysed to hear how it may sound.

in space the terrestrial objects like planets, stars , black hole do not make sound they release certain frequency which later converted into sound

Actually black hole sound cant be heard outright by ears since its in form of plane waves of gravitation and same for most of it

In space, there is no air or medium for sound waves to propagate in the traditional sense we experience on Earth. Sound requires a medium, like air, water, or solid materials, to carry the vibrations from a source to our ears.
However, in astrophysics, scientists use the term "sound" metaphorically when referring to pressure waves or oscillations in certain cosmic structures, like galaxy clusters. These are not sound waves in the audible sense but rather variations in density and temperature that can be observed through different forms of radiation, such as X-rays.
When researchers sonify data from these cosmic structures, they map the variations in temperature, density, or other properties to sound parameters for human interpretation. The sonification process doesn't involve the actual propagation of sound waves through a medium; instead, it's a way to represent complex data in a form that can be audibly analyzed and interpreted.
