Stop the Bleed - NC S.A.F.E. 2024

Duke Trauma Center started their Stop the Bleed initiative in 2017. This national program was developed by the American College of Surgeons to educate laypeople about the basics of bleeding control so they can save lives in the minutes before emergency responders can arrive.
The training goals include teaching participants how to identify life-threatening bleeding and stop the bleeding using direct pressure, wound packing, and tourniquets.
Duke Trauma has trained nearly 2,000 community members and hosted dozens of Stop the Bleed trainings in Durham and the surrounding counties.
