I’d rather win a frag from your tank!
I mean she’s literally buying corals off eBay from Cornbread which is Notorious for extremely high prices and very small pieces. This guy lives 10min from me and refuses to do local pick up and insist on having it shipped to me. He’s also known for changing the names of corals to whatever his heart desires then charge more for it.

Cool haul! The new Avatar was a great movie I thought as well lol. I do want to offer some advice for dipping though, when I dip corals especially acros to kill red bugs or AEFW I do bayer dip, iodine dip (inspect and brush plug) and then rinse. Bayer kills literally anything on any coral that isn’t the coral, iodine heals any damages and prevents infections. Rinse ensures no contaminants and brushing removes anything you might not see. If the plug looks in “bad shape” (algea eggs etc) I’ll dip just the plug in hydrogen peroxide for 1 minute limiting exposure to the coral. If it’s zoas you can dunk the whole plug in for up to 1:30. That literally kills everything and anything . Coral may bleach out a bit but recovers fine and algea will disintegrate by morning. Here are the measurements and times for anyone who is reading this. It is safe for all corals!
1. Bayer dip: 30mL to 2 cups tank water baste for 15mins
2.lugols iodine dip: 3drops (brightwell) to 2 cups, gently swirl for 10 mins
3. Hydrogen peroxide (optional): expose only non flesh parts of coral for up to 1:30 zoas and acans are ok to submerge but will bleach.
4. Rinse in tank water
5. In the tank😋

Feel the same way about having to win enough auctions to make it worth. Makes it more stress than it’s worth lol I did it once with WWC. Got 3-4 corals from their eBay and one from their store. There were a handful I was banking on getting that I was outbid on a second before it ended

Take the Monti out from the top. Find a place that's lower towards the bottom.Only going to cause trouble later for your High end SPS. Question why didn't you place them in QT Frag tank until you got clue. Never like leaving someone plug in DT. Never know what eggs possibly on it. Living dangerously... good luck...
I'll just keep it trimmed, I like it growing on the back wall. I dip all my coral before going in there but yea I guess ya never know what you could get 🤷🏻♀️
I recently had my first major losses / tank crash. I had intentionally waited a long time before adding anything expensive or temperamental.
Needless to say in time I became comfortable. Ended up with a great collection and eventually added a Dragon Soul Torch among other more expensive pieces of LPS. Watched everything flourish and grow new heads and skeletons getting chunky. It was a wonderful year of watching growth.
Then tides shifted from smooth to disastrous.
The financial loss is tough but harder yet was the psychological costs. I am very attached to the creatures under my care. I attempt to be pragmatic as possible and follow QT procedures for all livestock. But none of that matters when you’re trying to emulate the Oceans Reefs inside a small contained environment. Inevitably something will happen/change/go-wrong.
The torch went through polyp bailout as well a Frogspawn and an Octospawn I had.
Parameters remained consistent and other corals remained seemingly healthy… until they weren’t.
I thankfully didn’t lose everything and have been battling the last few months to restabilize my system. Dealing with some algae but otherwise things seemed to have balanced.
I was ready to throw in the towel and try starting again down the road. However, Jake Adams wouldn’t quit and would certainly take everything as educational. No matter the frustration and costs. So I will continue to fight and come Spring time I have a Waterbox 130.4 I’m going to upgrade / add into the collection.

That's not how to win a bid and keep the bid low. Bid $0.50-$1.00 initially just to get in the bid race. Then 20 seconds before the bid is about end, go a few bucks above highest bidder, and if someone gets a higher bid after you, with 6-8 seconds left, put in another bid just a few bucks higher. I've won 50+% of my bids this way, mostly losing to Ebay timing out 2-4 seconds too early or Ebay freezing up in the final seconds.

Im skeptical on spending too much on coral or large colonies now. I bought a dragon soul torch head and it brown jellied before it ever even went into the tank... Acros are cool though
