When I watched him and the Blackhawks dominate the league in the early 2010s while my Wings were beginning their decline, I never thought in a million years that he would end up on our team. I thought he would be a Blackhawk for life and even after seeing him on the Rangers last year, the possibility of him being here never crossed my mind. It is such a joy and an honor to have one of the titans of the league now in a Wings uniform.
I know exactly what you mean. I never really followed his game closely on other teams because its kinda like having to look at what you havent got especially when you'd love to have something like that or really need it like we have in recent years (jealousy is the word I'm looking for here). Being able to get a real close look at a trully elite player has been a real gift. I hope we can sign him up for a couple more years at least, he makes me really look forward to hockey games and I cant take my eyes off him, he's hynotizing to watch. I wasn't having a bad time watching the Wings this season before he signed, it was pretty fun the way we were going this year but now I'm having some real fun for sure. Kaner was what we were missing before we even knew we were missing something, thats the best way I can put it. For years I've been hearing fans whine about how were we going to get the elite player that we obviously needed if we cant draft #1 and then boom baby.....thats how.
Awesome feature, Thanks for the upload! Welcome to Hockeytown Showtime, Looking forward to watching you comprise highlights that live alongside all the other legends, that donned The Winged Wheel! LGRW
Kaner is a perfect Wing. Remember the last legend that came to Detroit and won cups? He wore #7 and just praised Kane at his own Celebration ceremony. Cheli is total class, minus the elbows.
I will never forget when we traded for Chelios. I was 14yrs old in 1999. 3 days later, my dad bought me a Chelly jersey. I still wear it to this day. It fits better now that im an adult. It was a little baggy when i was a kid.
He shouldn't ever have any sweater on but the Blackhawks i will never forgive the ownership for doing that to me and other fans,it's like trading Howe to the Blackhawks, sorry sob wertz family
I don't think ownership did it, but they definitely allowed it to be done, including everything leading up to it/forcing it. The main mover(s) behind forcing out everybody seemed to be Davidson and Faulkner.
I’m sure he only had a few suitors seeing how risky his surgery was. No real contender can take a bet on the potential dead cap space if he hadn’t panned out. Out of his options. Detroit could very well have been the best most competitive. Especially when he signed. Went on that loss atreak after he was signed and we had injuries/suspensions.
@@LPMIJARES This is a common misconception, according to insider reports from well after Kane signed, he turned down Boston, Vegas and Florida among others. They all offered him at minimum top 6, and top power play. Boston promised him playing w Pastrnak. He chose Detroit. I don't think for a second he thought Detroit was any kind of Cup contender this year. But he certainly thought they were a legit playoff contender, and he was right. He was this year a very very low risk signing bc of the low price, one year deal being an option, and the ability to stash him on LTIR if things fell apart quickly. The losing streak after his signing was (like the March losing streak) due to the Larkin injury. And then both times it even took the team some time after Larkin got back to get back into the groove. Those 2 injuries wrecked the season.

Life long hawks fan and I can say that there is no way kaner thought the wings were a cup contender. Be real
