The big question remains why anybody would ever want to play a game that constantly throws impossible choices at you and makes you feel miserable - which is exactly what The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, GTA, Red Dead Redemption and even Disco Elysium do. I cannot get immersed or invested in stuff like that, there is nothing there that attracts me. And especially the Wither is a game that I really wanted to like because I find the character that you play interesting, it just was never meant to be.

These are precisely the kind of games that can help you grow by helping you face your own negative reactions resulting from perfectionism/people pleasing I had and to some extent still have this problem, and purposely just going with the flow and observing my own reactions instead of obsessively trying to make the correct choice and get the best outcome was very beneficial, even though it's hard

Wasn't there mentions of it during the first part of the game game ? I remember something on an island, shorty after we get the lantern, a woman Ghost we escort and end up releasing a plague. Smth to do with the witch we can turn from the emperor to khaer moren
@@EidolonPoet There are mentions of it but there were supposed to be big questlines involving it. As for the woman you're talking about, that was unrelated to the other plague. She was a plague maiden so if you bring her remains off of the isle her essence brings plague in that area.

First part of quest is possible to miss, because encounter is disabled during Ghosts of the Past (Letho's quest), which you'll likely have active when travelling this road for the first time.

It started with weird allergy like symptoms that were inbetween allergies and a cold, that lasted like a week and a half then suddenly it was like i was on deaths door. I was falling over at work, delirious, i was getting that feeling you get as you are falling asleep nonstop while walking and working, couldnt focus at all, my head felt like it was gonna explode. But that was just one day, after that it was just a cold with excessively heavy mucus for about a month. So really only that one day was awful, the rest was just like allergies or a bad cold.

An interesting detail - in the first interaction, he has no interest in burning the corpses and is fine with spreading the disease. In the second interaction, he asks to have his remains burnt. Perhaps after experiencing it he gained a level of empathy.
From what he says in option 1, it is most certainly that his recklessness killed his children because he infected them. So it makes sense that he now fully understands why the remains must be burned.
I failed this mission because I just rode past him and he got killed by the ghouls and it’s crazy to think I prevented this dude from spreading it to his family by leaving him to his death

Damn after countless playthroughs I never knew there was a follow up to this quest. It’s kinda funny thinking of it since Assassins Creed Odyssey had a very similar quest where you had to choose between saving an entire family stricken by disease or letting them die.
I dunno how folks can play through such an epic game but not find exploration type mini-quests, like this one in Velen. One of the best parts of The Witcher 3 is just foregoing the main quests for a while, and travel the world. Explore. Find stuff. Get immersed.
Lesson: if a specialist in safety measures tells you to burn your clothes and clean yourself thoroughly, you do just that, then shave your body hair and burn it as well just to be sure.
Don't shave your body hair, it'd lead to micro lacerations, greatly increasing chances of infection. You began with giving good advice, do what the safety expert says! I'd add "to a tee" to that.

On the other hand, you are correct about micro lacerations, and a safety professional like Geralt omitting shaving probably means he thought those lacerations more risky then the potential of some parasites surviving a thorough cleaning. So yes, that’s a good point.

I love how he says "thanks for the wise counsel" when in reality the bottom line of the entire dialogue in the first quest was like: "Yo dude you're stupid" "No I'm not" "But you're really, really stupid though" "Oh damn you're right, thanks for yer wise counsel" Which is another reason why I think it's cool how authentically they depicted the average peasant in the Witcher universe: Dumb as rocks and twice as dense.
Taken from Witcher wiki: If the first part of the quest isn't completed by the time Ghosts of the Past is started, it will not be available until after Ghosts of the Past is finished. Also this quest is proximity sensitive, meaning if you go too far from the vicinity it will fail. Hope it helps :)
