I had that exact model Ibanez LP gold top back in 1980 it was my work horse for several years. I believe it was built in 1978 and of course Gibson sued them or whatever happened back then. That just brought back a flood of memories, wow. I’m getting old in a hurry. lol 🎸😳🙏🗽🥓
That Melody maker has been modified. The headstocks are always narrow like that though. Melodymakers usually have single coils and wraparound bridges. It’s possible that year they did a tune-o-matic and tailpiece but, the vintage ones from the 50s-60s are wraparounds.
Chicken and waffles. It’s a black thing, invented in the early 1930s when black musicians wozuld stop atROSCOS in Haarlem NYCITY would want something after a 3am gig
So after looking, touching many “new” guitars at NAMM, you go to GC, and buy a used Ibie lp. So what did we really learn, pretty colors and hundreds of switch combinations mean nothing, what is old and used is now new. Simple….NAMM = SCAM…..cheer’s Andy.

Nothing beats shopping a vintage Ibanez with an Ibanez product specialist and nerd!
You scared me for a moment there when you said chicken and waffles and then showed the Denny’s sign. 😂
I love that Denny’s 😂
that was fun. like, totally pointless but so much fun. it was like hanging out with my mates at a guitar shop. heaven! thanks
Cheeky 'Hell is for Heros' riff tucked away in there - noice 👌
Yes, good spot! One of my faves. The Neon Handshake has so many great riffs and songs on it. Good times.
This was great. Thanks for taking us along for the journey. Love these videos.
6:09 classic song! Loved Hell is for Heroes when I was a kid 😊
This was such a fun day out 😊
Now that I’ve watched your NAMM coverage, I almost feel like I was there.
More of this content for me. Loved you and pals just hanging.
I heard that Hell is for Heroes riff reference in there
Yes, checking through to see if anyone spotted it. One of my all time favs 😎
Great vlogs Andy.

I’ve got a black Melody Maker with a P90… it’s perfect.
Blues man and Jazz player breakfast. Congrats on a really cool namm series.
Would come with, if I was there. Nice vid.!!
That little melody maker is cool, put stainless steel frets on it.
Dude! Was that the "Harp Lady" who walked past at 3:44?
What’s the big red arch top on the wall behind you? Two to the right from the Brian May
That MM is cool.
6:34 How would you say they've improved? What makes a guitar shop good/bad? Selection and price, staff, or something else?
Mariachi oriented guitars. Welcome to LA. lol
Aw. Why didn’t you buy the melody maker? I’ve just bought one off reverb and I’m awaiting the customs bill…..😮
The Humbucker in the Black Tele looked like a Dimarzio Super Distortion. Looked nothing like a Duncan Invader.
Yeah 👍 that was not a Seymour Duncan invader you can tell by the poll pieces 🤘🤘
Hombach shredded

That’s a very cynical evaluation. Most of the gear I saw is not available yet.
