I might have talked about it a bit during the run, but veteran on cod is actually a pretty weird dificulty, just casually playing the game to completion isn't really as hard as some more commonly known challenging games, but as you get better at the game and find more exploits, there is really less to do with veteran because you can die so quickly and so randomly, so it gets pretty weird to speedrun lol, and might be legitimately one of the hardest difficulties of any game in that respect.
This game was and is stil amazing. The story arc, graphics, gameplay, levels, everything is so well designed. The 1st time i saw this i was like whaaaaaaaat 55:30
I remember playing the shit out of CoD 4 when I was 6 and being shit at it; it still holds up in 2022 and veteran is so satisfying to play on. It's a shame the CoD series has never quite hit the same heights of quality since - my only regrets from playing this game is that I keep wishing there was more of it. My first run through on veteran after 11 years was only 7 hours long, and my second one took half as long :(
Well quality in general was fine, even better when we all play as kids and nostalgia hits hard, but same year Tom Clancy's GRAW have better graphic, also that dumb moments when you are in Heli being immortal. I guess there's low amount of perfectionists in game Devs :D
You can go play them and encourage others who have nostalgia for these games to play them. Call of Duty has so many great games we should routinely play a certain one for 2 to 3 weeks and than cycle to keep the multiplayer fresh.
@@XR_Rocketid have to disagree on your point about graw having better graphics - it’s far too cartoonish and has that murky bloom that so many mid 2000s games suffered from. Cod 4 has a really unique look that fit the setting so well - it did away with the sludgy brown bloom of earlier games and was less bright/cartoony than the games that followed it (Even by 2009 the cartoonish look had started to set in with mw2). The OG MW has a cold, sharp and desaturated aesthetic that felt like footage from the bush-era conflicts of the time, and is similar to the gopro footage coming out of the current war in ukraine. The game bodycam also has a similar aesthetic which I think is a big factor in it’s realism
@@fleurdesaint mile high Club is actually one of the easiest missions on Veteran. Compared to the random shots qnd nades that kill you on war pig or charlie don't surf's big room with all the screens in it
Late reply, but normally when you reach red screen, which is 1hp, you have a small invulnerability window, on recruit this lasts for 4 seconds, on veteran it is 0.1 seconds. In the section where you carry the pilot, it lasts 10 seconds on any difficulty, so it's nearly impossible to die. This can get bypassed by things that insta kill you like grenades or car/barrel explosions. Or if you take enough damage to skip past the red screen, like getting shot to around half hp, and then getting meleed, or fall damage. I'm less sure about your health when carrying macmillain, I thought it was fairly normal, but I honestly rarely take much damage there, so I've never really thought about it too hard.
1:08:39 - did you know that there are neutral to you dogs in the pool, you can trigger them by stepping near, and they will run and kill next two enemies, so that you shouldn't place McMillan and kill them by yourself.
Idk why I never replied to this, but late response why not I guess. That is a commonly known thing, but it's random if the dogs kill the 2 guys, or if the guys kill the dogs, so it's not a reliable strategy, it saves something like 6-8 seconds if it works, but it probably only works 20% of the time or less.
You can make the final part of one shot one kill much easier. The enemies spawn behind an initially closed door. To open it an animation of enemy kicking the door open should first be played. However you can kill that enemy and then the door would stay closed till the end of a mission and no enemy would be able to leave their spawn. To do this you can place a claymore really close to the door and it will explode and kill the openning enemy. I found that out when I tried to collect the intell in one of their spawns but in order not to bother with enemies themselves I placed a claymore very close to the closed door. The claymore exploded killing the first enemy who should have opened the door but did not get time to do so. The door stayed closed till the end of a mission and I had to replay the whole mission to get it open.
I think cod veteran deathless is a lot harder than halo legendary deathless lol, nowhere near with all the skulls on though. Afaik no one has done any cod veteran deathless.
Lol I was just thinking about watching your previous cod4 veteran world record. Then I thought well let's wait a little more he's probably gonna beat in a couple of days... And there it is way sooner that I thought
@Rand it is not, or at least the minor difference on jump_slowdownenable is significant from a speedrunning perspectave, makes the movement completely different, waw is also much more prone to softlocks due to level design.
This game is so forgettable! I never got into call of Duty because i played this one and MW2 all the way through on hard mode or whatever its called back in the day and I couldn't tell you a thing about them. Not my thing really but was curious to see what a speedrun of it looks like.
I would never pretent like cod is a premium casual experience lol, you're honestly prettymuch correct. The main reason I speedrun them is the feel of the game, the smoothness and responsiveness, etc, among the best of all first person shooters.
If that's an issue then just mute the video lol. I went for years just playing shorter levels rarely with my voice in them, you're the first comment I've seen that doesn't like the change.
@@geoantony6133 I mean that's just actually not true lol. But anyway if you want only gameplay of cod speedrunning, then watch any of my videos from pre 2020.
@@geoantony6133 You are just a weirdo mate. I am incredibly interested in what the runner has to say. Especially on WR videos. This is a recording of a stream anyways, ofcourse he is going to talk to his audience. It is not like he has an annoying persoanlit either or something. And what do you want to hear the game for anyway? A lot of it gets skipped and because of the sprinting by phases you only get 1/3 of the dialog and a lot of the dialog is spoken while the events have never unfolded or already past. The story gets distorted for someone that does not know the game and whoever knows the game has seen it already anyway. Your point of criticisism just holds very weight.

That has to be the best One Shot, One Kill I've ever seen, not just in a speedrun but generally. Nice work!

I spent about 2.5 times as long doing “No Fighting in the War Room” on veteran the first time as he did playing the entire game on veteran.😐
Also, I like how Griggs drags Soap out into the open and gets himself shot.
