You know what? I wish that SCG would make a special token card for the winner of each season. Imagine Justin on a wizard token or Stephen on a hound/dogo token. It would be marvelous.
I feel like you guys do a lot for the SCG youtube (and SCG in general), so it would be awesome if you got some sweet recognition like that! It's not like you're not recognised around the network anyway... #SCGcWinnerTokens
(Jeremy) We're back this week with the second trip to the Randharmonicon for the season. Each of us received a second pairing of random partners to add some chaos. Will anyone be able to stop me from earning negative points again this week? Watch to find out!
Star City Games jeremy you were playing 2 azorious chancery?? (UW Bounceland) in your deck. While demonic tutoring from around 21:40 to 21:47. Correct my if iam wrong
If you go to the timestamps that I posted, you can see them if you pause real quick... I'm not like bustin' your balls or anything, I promise. I think you guys are awesome!
justin could likely have won after he played mind over matter with niv-mizzet, kydele and reito lantern out. by drawing and shooting with niv, tapping and retapping kydele for ever larger amounts of mana he can bottom all of his own discards with the lantern to combo on the spot edit: he loses a point for beating them all on one turn, this way lets him spread it across his and jeremys turns.
It won't beat out a life-gain deck, but I suppose it's fair enough as far as moderate level play is concerned. 250 damage out of a combo is usually good enough.
I really appreciate moments like at the beginning when you all took a second to acknowledge and analyze deck building with partner commanders. Always interesting to here how people view deck building with different restrictions and I have had mixed feelings about partner but this helped clarify that using a second commander could just be a means to unlock another color(s) that could synergize well with the commander you intend to build around.
@59:58 Justin you were right. At 54:28 Jon was at 28 life. He tapped City of Brass for 1 white mana to cast Path to Exile on Drana and took one damage from his City, putting him at 27 life.
Jeremy consistently fails to read the real threats "that Atheros" when Stephen hadn't played more than 3 creatures the entire game, like it was going to matter anytime soon, very frustrating to see everyone throw ever answer imaginable at Stephen when they were all just big dumb attackers while Justin just sat their and assembled Kydele Voltron.
Since the new archenemy is coming out and you guys play planechase regularly. Why not at the end of the season once the winner is announced, perhaps during the break between seasons, have an archenemy game where the archenemy is the season winner? Just a random thought and a new way to play the game for you guys and everyone else to who watches.
I feel so sorry for Stephen, one moment he has a board full of threats and comes out of the gate swinging, next minute he has nothing and everyone is politicking against him even though john has a better board state and Justin parnel is over there with 2 draws a turn and everything else he wants his deck to do ... #TeamGreen
I would to see decks built around alternate win conditions, like Darksteel Reactor. Extra points for actually pulling off your alt wincon, minus points if you eliminate a player in a normal matter.
For the last game of the season, do something similar to S3E7, where everyone played with decks that had won before. The only catch is that you can only play with Decks that you have personally piloted. Think of it as a "Best of" for Commander Versus. Always love watching you guys and I'm looking forward to the next video.
Because watching someone get hated out of the game is horrible to watch. Why even have him there if everyone is going to target him out of the game the first 4 turns anyways?
Gshelley170 its just the same bad threat assessment. like yeah Stephen was strong on board but 3v1 him out of anything and let Justin like combo off in 5 different ways. its more they always let him live to combo they need to stop doing that
Gshelley170 everyone teamed up on stephen because he had the potential to do 30+ combat damage in one turn. with a board state like that, people will put a target on you until that is taken care of.
Justin, I put Mycosynth Lattice into my Kydele/Vial Smasher deck to get around the coloured mana problems. Plus opens up artifact shenanigans, though I haven't done that yet.
Really want to see Jeremy play with an Omnath, Locus of Mana. It goes really well with his plan for the next week. Either that or for the fan round. It just does his #1 favorite thing (that I know of) in magic: Ramp! Omnath, Locus of Mana is the king of ramp.
If you don't understand how a card works, please either read it carefully, ask someone, who does know how it works or don't play it at all. Seriously, how hard is it to understand Ludevic? If any player other than the controller has lost life in any way, the player whose turn it is gets to draw a card at the beginning of his end step. That is it. Simple and easy to understand... And it's just as easy to understand why the card is rubbish but that is another discussion. Ludevic has not been in play for a full turn yet and people were already oblivious to its trigger or how it works. John tapped a City of Brass for mana at 19:50, therefore he lost life. Since he is not the controller of Ludevic, him tapping his city of brass matches the condition on Ludevic's draw trigger, so he gets to draw a card during his end step.
Justin Parnell's comment about leaning towards one of the partners holds true in my partner deck. I have a Jeskai artifact deck under Akiri and Ludevic. When building it, I knew Silas Renn would've been great, but there wasn't enough black I wanted to make it worthwhile having a 4th color, (mainly only new Daretti, Sharuum, and Marionette Master) and even then, I could've run Breya instead (probably because Marionette Master is incredible with her). Point being, Akiri was the obvious leader, but which Izzet or Azorius partner would be good as a second? Ishai is just too good in my Atraxa deck (obvious reasons), and Kraum doesn't really synergize with the toolbox strategy. So figured Ludevic's draw ability would work decently with the Akiri's aggression.
DeviltoGeorgia34 I know it's not nearly the same, but I have a temur good stuff deck with thrasios. I tested with ludevic and Kraum and IMHO Kraum beats the pants off the other izzet legend. you may get some value from ludevic, but in late game I was regularly drawing three cards per rotation because each of my opponents were casting more than one spell. even if Kraum isn't really on theme, give him another look. the value generation is bonkers.
Hey guys!! Just wanted to remind you of the awesome commanders you guys should be playing! Justin: Meren, Clan of Nel Toth Stephen: Omnath, Locus of Rage Jeremy: Damia, Sage of Stone Jon: Breya, Etherium Shaper Still love the series guys and I hope you guys consider my ideas!! I think they fit you guys perfectly and I can't wait to see what you guys do next!
I dont know if anyone else has mentioned this, but can you play one of the cards you drew off Rishkar's Expertise with the expertise? It looks like Justin did at 1:01:22? #conspiracy? # maybe?
Gabriel Fuselier Yes you can. the draw cards is the initial effect that resolves, then the cast a free spell is the second effect of the card that resolves. It's kinda like tooth and nail in a sense with entwine. You search for 2 creatures put them into your hand then put the on the battlefield.
I made a Squirrel(Nantuko Shrine)/Shadowborn Apostels/Karador Deck. If I put my list up will one of you bless the play mat with squirrely goodness =]??
Unless I'm wrong, around 1:30 can't Justin just win with mind over matter, niv-mizzet and labaratory maniac? Draw with Niv, discard to mind over matter, keep doing that till he can't draw and win. Even better they'd all get fourth too therefore only get 1 point.
I don't know if i missed something, but I don't think the infinite card draw worked in the end... justin had like 200 Mana (max) what wouldve been enough to draw 40 cards. Each card he draws needs to be discarded for mind over matter to untap the staff. He would need to untap his kydele in between to regain some mana but he only has 2 tries because at beginning the combo he had 2 cards in hand. So he needs to draw a card draw spell, which is very likely, but maybe you saw something I missed.
Shouldn't Jonathan have drawn another card at minute 20:18, because of Ludevic? He took damage from City of Brass. Or am I missing something? Oh well. It's a may. I'll just assume he didn't want another card.
Okay, this totally makes me think that a full group hug game could be had at the same time as these hidden roles stuff. Jeremy would run a mass ramp into hydras. Stephen obviously runs a walker pillow fort game (using some group hug draws?). Johnathan could easily be running a certain Grixis commander. And lastly Justin would obviously be running the Hyppo Hype Train!
Halophilic NC Or sit in order of points each week, first always goes last. Would be different anyway, would have to figure out tie breakers for even points
As a player who recently discovered how broken Krark-Clan Ironworks + Scrapheap Scrounger is by accidentally playing solitaire for ten minutes before combiong off, I was a big fan of Jon's deck.
Hi guys. Love the show. Real great entertainment. Just wanted to make a suggestion: could you do a quick recap of the previous episode when you announce the points? I for one forget what generals were played and how the winner won. Thanks!
MoM + Mizzet + Kydele + Reito actually does pretty much kill everyone, guys. After drawing some 60 cards, just put the graveyard at the bottom with Kydele, no problem.
4 Pre - Selected Red Commanders... 4 Different Themes (Like dragons, Goblins, Artifacts, Enter the Battlefield, Elementals, Etc.)... Chosen at random... so finally the red commander wins!!!
So here are my deck recomendations. Justin - Kaervek the Merciless Jeremy - Experiment Kraj Stephen - Xenagos, God of Revels John - Rasputin Dreamweaver
(Jeremy) I was really close to playing that in the Core Set challenge, but Stephen posted his mono-blue list before I finished mine, and we already knew Justin and John were going to play green, so I decided to change it up. I've got a poll on my twitter for what I should play if you want to vote, and I'll keep Jalira in the back of my mind :) twitter.com/jeremynoell/status/834121621141147648
Okay, real talk, I have a good theme for an episode. Color Pie Breaks! I'm talking decks like this www.gatheringmagic.com/jules-robins-iname-life-aspect-commander-edh-elder-dragon-highlander-112612-the-aspect-of-life/ . A deck that's green technically, but might as well be blue for what it does. What can you guys come up with?
the momen Justin played Mind over matter he had lethal, he can just draw the whole library shot for all the damage then make mana with kydele put cards on the bottom of his library with reito lantern and repeat.
hey Jon! know who is a really good commander for drawing cards? Tomorrow, Azami's familiar! and with possessed portal you have tons of time to set up a needlessly massive draw!
You guys should do an episode where you each use one of the lorwyn tribal reveal lands for your colors... like Gilt-Leaf Palace Golgari elves. Or Primal Beyond 5 color Elementals. Or Murmuring Bosk Abzan Treefolk... Rakdos Goblins, Azorius Merfolk, Boros Giants, Mono white Kithkin, Dimir Faeries
I'd like to see John or Jeremey play a grixis all copy/borrow/steal deck. Everything either copies ( clone, twin cast, body double, mirrorpool, etc) borrows ( memory plunder, various act of aggression type cards, etc) or out right steals cards/spells ( take possession, gonti, commandeer, etc)
Jon, use Selvala Heart of the Wilds on a Malignus or Serra Avatar, then Momentous Fall that creature. You could make it interesting and build the deck around Mayael the Anima, instead of using a commander with blue or black, since those are typical card draw colors.
The final episode this season should be another random episodes except the partner commanders can be any commander. Feel like if balanced commanders are choosen for the pool it could be fun :)
technically with psychosis crawler in play, drawing your entire library would have caused jeremy to die from damage. i think justin loses points for wiping opponents on a single turn, right?
You know what? I wish that SCG would make a special token card for the winner of each season. Imagine Justin on a wizard token or Stephen on a hound/dogo token. It would be marvelous.
Feel free to keep repeating this over and over again and telling your friends to do the same!
I'm with ya! #SeasonWinnerTokens
I feel like you guys do a lot for the SCG youtube (and SCG in general), so it would be awesome if you got some sweet recognition like that! It's not like you're not recognised around the network anyway... #SCGcWinnerTokens
For flavor, I feel like they should be monarch tokens. But keeping with the tradition of picking a token is also great.
Yes!
You are correct. At 21:43 right behind Mana Vault is Chancery #1, at 21:45 right after Anguished Unmaking and Island; Chancery #2 is there.
(Jeremy) Huh. Possibly it should have been another bounceland.
If you go to the timestamps that I posted, you can see them if you pause real quick... I'm not like bustin' your balls or anything, I promise. I think you guys are awesome!
Star City Games where are the decklists???
When the camera zooms in on Suarez tapping Wooded Foothills for mana
Gavin Skittles let's just imagine he used that sandsteppe citadel he had untapped instead
I think Jon is used to Justin always having an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth in play.
Justin shooting down Meren was one of the most heartbreaking things ever to happen on commander versus
Francesco Gulisano it's like being in a zombie apocalypse and running into your spouse as a zombie and having to put them out of their misery.
Francesco Gulisano Top 10 anime betrayals.
Still waiting for the #CorsetChallenge
118bone season 6 episode 4
+William Fontaine
You might want to check the specific spelling of 118bone's original post. It's not what you think it is. ;)
So is it just me or could justin just have won with Niv Mizzet, Lab maniac and mind over matter?
He knew he could but chose not to do it
He made that comment after he won
justin could likely have won after he played mind over matter with niv-mizzet, kydele and reito lantern out. by drawing and shooting with niv, tapping and retapping kydele for ever larger amounts of mana he can bottom all of his own discards with the lantern to combo on the spot
edit: he loses a point for beating them all on one turn, this way lets him spread it across his and jeremys turns.
It won't beat out a life-gain deck, but I suppose it's fair enough as far as moderate level play is concerned.
250 damage out of a combo is usually good enough.
I think he even had enough cards to just shoot people with niv + MoM. no need for any other cards
Justin bring out his 1000$ Timetwister card when he's 1 point behind first place.
Do what you gotta do man.
^ This guy xD
What a relief
@59:58 Justin you were right. At 54:28 Jon was at 28 life. He tapped City of Brass for 1 white mana to cast Path to Exile on Drana and took one damage from his City, putting him at 27 life.

Combo beats aggro
Such a good show. I wait every week to watch some commander action.
I love Jeremy's expression in the background as Parnell speaks to the camera! Might be the best part of Commander Vs!
I love the disclaimer, it's perfect
Couldn't Justin have won on the spot with Niv mizzet, lab man, and the untap enchantment?
Yes but he missed it
I have no idea why John exiled stephen's creature to save justin. Justin acts like he has nothing every game and they always fall for it.
@32:00 I like that Jon makes a point of saying which land types Windswept Heath can search for after Arid Mesa debacle last week.
I love the Trogdor reference at 1:09:10.
Brings back good memories...
I'm a simple man I come, I like, I share, I comment
28:55 I appreciate that Whispersilk Cloak Alter
I don't know why, but "Money Please" at 57:20 cracks me up
I feel so sorry for Stephen, one moment he has a board full of threats and comes out of the gate swinging, next minute he has nothing and everyone is politicking against him even though john has a better board state and Justin parnel is over there with 2 draws a turn and everything else he wants his deck to do ... #TeamGreen
I would to see decks built around alternate win conditions, like Darksteel Reactor. Extra points for actually pulling off your alt wincon, minus points if you eliminate a player in a normal matter.
Me too thanks that's all I build
@22:52 Justin to Jon, speaking about Stephen - "Can you clean up the dribble on his mouth too?" So much salt. Hilarious :)
For the last game of the season, do something similar to S3E7, where everyone played with decks that had won before. The only catch is that you can only play with Decks that you have personally piloted. Think of it as a "Best of" for Commander Versus. Always love watching you guys and I'm looking forward to the next video.
I don't understand how Justin is allowed to ever take more then 4 turns.
Because watching someone get hated out of the game is horrible to watch. Why even have him there if everyone is going to target him out of the game the first 4 turns anyways?
Anthony Jarrell well everyone teamed up against Stephen when he tried to stop it.
Gshelley170 its just the same bad threat assessment. like yeah Stephen was strong on board but 3v1 him out of anything and let Justin like combo off in 5 different ways. its more they always let him live to combo they need to stop doing that
robert poxson I dont get it either. When Jeremy chose Athreos over Kruphix... Really.
Gshelley170 everyone teamed up on stephen because he had the potential to do 30+ combat damage in one turn. with a board state like that, people will put a target on you until that is taken care of.
@41:52 Stephen didn't draw from Sword of Fire and Ice or from being the Monarch.
Justin, I put Mycosynth Lattice into my Kydele/Vial Smasher deck to get around the coloured mana problems. Plus opens up artifact shenanigans, though I haven't done that yet.
I don't think I have seen a game where one player was targeted as much as the green one was this game, really shows the power of that deck he made.
I wish I knew what card Jon played @ 26:38
Referenced again @ 47:27 and still nothing to tell us what the card is
Really want to see Jeremy play with an Omnath, Locus of Mana. It goes really well with his plan for the next week. Either that or for the fan round. It just does his #1 favorite thing (that I know of) in magic: Ramp! Omnath, Locus of Mana is the king of ramp.
Jeremy just continuing the list. Still love the idea of Randharmonicon
So where did jermey get the second white at 22:00?
Chromatic Lantern
"It's my fun! And I want to have it." Great episode, well played team.
He had a chromatic lantern
Does Jon get a point for saving Parnell at around the 55:00 mark
I fell inlove with Parnell's deck. I need it!
If you don't understand how a card works, please either read it carefully, ask someone, who does know how it works or don't play it at all.

Oh wow. I'm actually really looking forward to next week! I love building decks with a single goal in mind!

I suppose. Also, a 4/4 flyer isn't to be taken lightly.
DeviltoGeorgia34 I have won games with beats.
Hey guys!! Just wanted to remind you of the awesome commanders you guys should be playing!
Justin: Meren, Clan of Nel Toth
Stephen: Omnath, Locus of Rage
Jeremy: Damia, Sage of Stone
Jon: Breya, Etherium Shaper
Still love the series guys and I hope you guys consider my ideas!! I think they fit you guys perfectly and I can't wait to see what you guys do next!
I dont know if anyone else has mentioned this, but can you play one of the cards you drew off Rishkar's Expertise with the expertise? It looks like Justin did at 1:01:22? #conspiracy? # maybe?

I made a Squirrel(Nantuko Shrine)/Shadowborn Apostels/Karador Deck. If I put my list up will one of you bless the play mat with squirrely goodness =]??
I would love to see Suarez pilot a Marath goodstuff deck (limited combo) with a midrange control sort-of feel.
Unless I'm wrong, around 1:30 can't Justin just win with mind over matter, niv-mizzet and labaratory maniac? Draw with Niv, discard to mind over matter, keep doing that till he can't draw and win. Even better they'd all get fourth too therefore only get 1 point.
I don't know if i missed something, but I don't think the infinite card draw worked in the end... justin had like 200 Mana (max) what wouldve been enough to draw 40 cards. staff and kydele infinite together without the mind over matter staff untaps kydele and itself for less mana then kydele produces
Staff can untap itself for 1 mana
When you combo off so much that your opponents get tired and let you do whatever you want. Even when you were pretty much out of colored mana XD
Shouldn't Jonathan have drawn another card at minute 20:18, because of Ludevic? He took damage from City of Brass. Or am I missing something?
Oh well. It's a may. I'll just assume he didn't want another card.
I've been playing Mind Over Matter for some years and it's simply absurd. The most powerful blue enchantment ever in my opinion.
Would godsend trigger if the creature is sent to the command zone?
I'd love to see a commander game with as much randomness as possible, so something like Grenzo (mono-red), Jalira, Yidris, and Arjun.
What a relief
jeremy noell will you play my xenagos deck for the fan episode?? how do i send my decklist to you? it is on tappedout
Jeremy Noel's smile is so contagious...keep being awesome
Any thought to randomizing the seating order?
Halophilic NC Or sit in order of points each week, first always goes last. Would be different anyway, would have to figure out tie breakers for even points
I really hope you guys do updated C16 commander decks
I'd love to see what Justin would do with yidris
I just realized that Wes is missing. I didn't catch the middle seasons, is there any reason he's not playing here?
So Justin, a deck with a power of 9 and infinite loop with redundancies is a causal deck? Playing infect next week?
Can someone tell justin that mind over matter can also untap lands ?
From all my fellow Johnny players out there, thanks for this episode XD
As a player who recently discovered how broken Krark-Clan Ironworks + Scrapheap Scrounger is by accidentally playing solitaire for ten minutes before combiong off, I was a big fan of Jon's deck.
Hi guys. Love the show. Real great entertainment. Just wanted to make a suggestion: could you do a quick recap of the previous episode when you announce the points? I for one forget what generals were played and how the winner won. Thanks!
Nice vid as always. Future idea: Why not use the 4 planechase anthology legends: Kondo, Vela, Wanderer and Thromok?
The next Steven Green troll deck for Justin: Cards that point towards something.
Doesn't ludevic trigger regardless of whether or not justin took damage?
So here are my deck recomendations.
Justin - Kaervek the Merciless
Jeremy - Experiment Kraj
Stephen - Xenagos, God of Revels
John - Rasputin Dreamweaver
Edit for Stephen Green - Sedris, the Traitor King
that kruphix God with Mind over Matter is a pretty sick combo.
how did Jeremy tap an island for dispeller's capsule
Jeremy, I would love to see you play a jalira master polymorphist deck for the fan vid.
1:11:24 nice tapping of a fetch for mana
Justin: "Mind over Matter and Niv Mizzet wasn't the intent..." Can we have an award for the most BS statement ever uttered on Commander VS?
does stephen green not know chromatic lantern taps for mana?
Anybody else notice at around 42:00 stephen attacked with reyhan and it hit nobody
Did he get an assassin token while he was still the monarch? Or do I not have 20/20 vision?
he missed a trigger and was fixing it
Bruse Tarl + Ikra Shidiki for a life gain deck would be nice....swing with Ikra for +20 life while only dealing 6 dmg sounds fun right?
In commander you can draw if you go first? Is this just a commander rule in general or is it a Commander VS thing that these guys do?
deathbycoleslaw it's a rule if there are more than 2 players in a commander game.
the momen Justin played Mind over matter he had lethal, he can just draw the whole library shot for all the damage then make mana with kydele put cards on the bottom of his library with reito lantern and repeat.
hey Jon! know who is a really good commander for drawing cards? Tomorrow, Azami's familiar! and with possessed portal you have tons of time to set up a needlessly massive draw!
artifacts, artifacts everywhere, we got equipment, we got sac artifact shenanigans
Stephen missed his (Non-Optional) first strike damage trigger on Drana +1/+1 counter on each creature he controls.......
So, Justin loses a point for killing everyone in a turn? Or was that on Jeremy's upkeep?
i want one of you guys to make a deck with one or more of the epic spells from the kamlgawa
Saskia also says 'if you deal combat damage to Justin Parnell, deal that amount of damage to Justin Parnell.'
jon tapped wooded foothills for mana. did no one catch that?
My guesses:
Justin will have Zedruu
Jeremy will have Bruna, or Uril
Stephen either Atraxa, or Angus
And Justin either Niv Mizzet or Azami
notice me senpai @22:50 jeremy casted a dispellers capsule for the one white then used a blue manya to play a enlightened tutor?!?!?!
OctopussPrimez chromatic lantern makes lands tap for any color
He has a chromatic lantern in play. That allows his lands to tap for any color.
Chromatic Lantern
OctopussPrimez. he has a chromatic lantern
OctopussPrimez He had a cromatic lantern on the field, which means mana from lands can be any color
Jon, use Selvala Heart of the Wilds on a Malignus or Serra Avatar, then Momentous Fall that creature. You could make it interesting and build the deck around Mayael the Anima, instead of using a commander with blue or black, since those are typical card draw colors.
Gotta respect Stephan's four-color legends deck. But Kydele wheel is a real #Parnell thing.
Tapping City of Brass gives Suarez a Ledevic trigger.
The final episode this season should be another random episodes except the partner commanders can be any commander. Feel like if balanced commanders are choosen for the pool it could be fun :)
@36:25 8 - 2 - 3 = 3 mana floating. Not 4. Math is hard :P
I loved how they gave Stephen crap about Ludevic and then Jon immediately missed a draw from City of Brass damage after that.
technically with psychosis crawler in play, drawing your entire library would have caused jeremy to die from damage. i think justin loses points for wiping opponents on a single turn, right?
So John saved Justin, does he get +1??
the dmg was not lethal it was 27 out his 29 life i think so no...
Around 22:47 jeremy taps an islands for white mana....
(Jeremy) I had a Chromatic Lantern out early and it ended up in my lands pile.
Decklists??
