Middle school! I really hope they are paying the staff really really good. I have never seen a middle school produce a group so talented, so WELL TRAINED, consistent, and mature, especially at such a young age. HIGH SCHOOLS can't even figure out the formula to produce success like this. A lot of time went into these students for a fact. Continue to give this staff whatever they ask for, show your appreciation, and thank them for what they have done for this program. This is absolutely the first to hear of a middle in SCH OPEN. Keep up the hard work students and know the person/people who are teaching you, are very patient and AMAZING. GOOD JOB GUARD STAFF. I tip my hat to you.
According to an article, the director was able to convince the school board to have their color guard classes as a physical education credit rather than an elective credit, so the director and possibly the staff get full teacher salaries.
@Loyalty Of The Moon that is wonderful! The instructors, wait let me correct myself, TEACHERS are doing an amazing job. I hope they get a good stipend at the end of each semester also!
@@LoyaltyOfTheMoon oh, they are from California, the entire state of Florida has colorguard as a class during the day. So that is nothing new. I taught colorguard in Florida high schools. I they are a charter middle school which typically means they have more money for their program because they are a charter school as they pay to go to that school. But the colorguard program alone cost around $40,000 to make it to Dayton. They have one incredible instructor named Jose, they have three ColorGuard’s and one middle school. He also teaches Fantasia, Blue, Devils, and Palm Desert high school. He did leave teaching Palm Desert high school for the past three years, and was the Director of Shadow Hills High School. Palm Desert high school wanted him back as a lot of his kids were graduating from the middle school and leaving colorguard all together as they weren’t happy with the high school program. So now he’s a Director at Palm Desert high school and will see a lot of his middle school students from six grade all the way through their senior year. This program you see right here in this video, is sixth seventh and eighth graders. They are the only middle school to ever make WGI Scholastic a finals in 11th place. That was in 2022. In 2023 mid season, they were bumped to open class and still made scholastic open class finals 12th place. They are incredible!
Wow! Just wow! in all my 39 years in this activity I have never seen anything quite like this. 26 Middle School students with such talent and discipline and strength and dedication and with such a high skill level. I just cannot fully wrap my head around how this is reality and not a dream. Congrats to these students and their coaches and their parents/guardians. This is simply amazing and the dream of every single director ever. I cannot wait to see how these kids grow and blossom. These kids are the future of this activity.
They have it goin' on!! Absolutely beautiful performance. This is kids who believe in themselves, understand being part of a team, and adults that have set the bar high and then gave them the tools to blow past it!!
Shocked to see that have such a wonderful guard out in that desert. What a wonderful instructor and congrats to these girls for being so excellent. How does it feel to be as good as some independent guards and better than most high school guards? Amazing
Can someone tell me why their high school program is smaller than this??? I mean they have TWO groups for their middle school and they are both huge so it’s weird how it dosent carry over to high school
The middle school actually has three full Guards. Workshop Guard JV Guard in A Open guard in Open. Three full guards and they still have to turn away who auditioned. 6th-8th graders. Palm Desert HS is a little different where area Palm Desert Charter Middle school is a charter school.
@@JGramazio12 I get that but what exactly makes it different besides being a charter school??? Does the high school have different schedules that make it harder for them to do it??
Hello, I'm actually one of the members in the team. The high school team most of us don't go to it because of the program itself (also something about the instructor) and some of us are just done with doing color guard. Although it is fun performing in the middle school the last few years, the high school team didn't appeal to a lot of us or the past members, but there will definitely be more for the 2024 winter season (bc smt is happening to the program) and I'll be trying out.

A middle school in open class is unheard of! Amazing job to this entire team!
Gorgeous and stunning. A score will never define what this team achieved.
