I just did a 80% purge of my makeup, perfumes, purses, clothes, shoes, accessories. It was harder than I thought. Im moving forward with choosing quality products that I will actually use.
Right I grew up with the mindset, if it’s in sale by it, but I nipped that in the butt real quick, I don’t buy unless I feel it’s 🤩 when I try it on!!!
Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for checking out the video. I hope it’s relatable on some level. So, I have to ask, have any of you ever bought some expensive meat or salmon and put it into the freezer only to later discover that the freezer basically cooked it? 🤦🏾♀️ After that happened to me a couple hundred times I stopped buying meat in bulk to store in the freezer. I also laid off buying vegetables to store in the refrigerator unless I’m planning to cook them within a few days. I got tired of throwing them away. Can anybody else relate to this? Love you all so much. Have a great week! 😘😘😘
I try NOT to freeze meat / seafood / poultry and if I do it’s no more than a few days. And, I prefer fresh veggies because my grandmother had a garden (with acres) back in the day. She set the tone for eating FRESH as much as possible…never veggies or fruit from a can - - a mortal sin according to grandma!

Girl, I recently looked around and realized that I buy everything excessively. I am a shopaholic. I started going through clothes and shoes and I donated probably 600 pounds of clothes and shoes ( a lot with tags still on) to a local charity. It felt so good to get rid of all of that stuff. I used to be addicted to eyeshadow palettes. I had to have all of the new releases but I rarely wear anything more than an eye contour so I quit that a few years ago. Now on to the books…I love, love, love books. But I do re read certain ones and I develop an attachment to them and can’t seem to let them go. You’ve inspired me to purge some more of my things and quit buying so much.

Girl I came to terms with my makeup addiction a few years ago. I was influenced by so many people online to buy the different brands, just to have them sit in my makeup drawer. Makeup does go bad after awhile and when I realized I was wasting money, I did a big purge and only purchased items I KNOW I would use on the regular. Too much excess hurts all our pockets. Girl! 💯 on all! I purged my kitchen of a lot of water bottles and plastic containers. I've started buying food as I need it and not for the sake of filling my fridge. I also made a decision to use all hair products (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, gel etc) before buying more. Candles is another. I have some that serve decorative purposes but for the most part, I'm burning them out before I purchase more.

I just wanted to add something, I am getting married soon and was thinking how will I ever afford the rings? Love, love the video. As you get older you really start to realize what's important in life. What do you really need. Kudos to you, Alicia!! I can totally relate to the frost bitten food. I too only grocery shop for what I am going to cook for the week. I find planning a menu and shopping only for those items save a lot of money, no waste.😊❤
I'm sorry, I'm just so confused like only shopping food, perishable stuff to eat, for only a week and not longer in advance is an achievement? How long in advance did you use to buy food? Are y'all American or what's the matter with your food?
"We don't see 'em girl......." 😂😂 That's crazy! I had a friend lose an engagement ring in my front yard. My husband found it and returned it to her fiance. I always think about the karma.
All through covid lock up, when I had to do my own hair, I bought everything you can imagine for my hair. Like you with the skin care, I have now forced myself to stop and I'm trying to use up what I have. I feel you.
Girl you read me like a book. I have a shopping addiction and go from one item to the next. I occasionally filter them out but only to buy more. I have to make a conscious effort to stop! Thanks for your video.
Perfect timing on this vid! No more perfume, eye palettes nor blushes & bronzers for me. How many can I possibly wear before they go bad? Plus, I really paid attention to your latest vids on thinning out our clothing collections. I have so much stuff I no longer wear just hanging in my closet- it is all going away! Thank you for the extra motivation & EXCELLENT ideas!
Love your videos. This one was great. I hoard EVERYTHING and still keep buying. I’m going to watch this video over and over to help me clear out and stop buying. xx
Great video! I decided end of last year to refrain from hair products since I have so many and it’s saved me a lot of money. I went into this year cutting back from skincare. I’ve been also more selective with my clothing options and perfumes, like where would I wear this? That has helped e fight the spending urge. I had to stop buying meats in high quantity too due the freezer burn 😩😩😩. Great video!
I think, going through the pandemic, we (OK...I) got a bit clingy with objects around the house but now, I realize that I simply MUST start purging, and as you've pointed out.......not adding to the collections. I also need to learn how to better cook for (1) person and cut out the mad waste on those perishable!!! Thanks for the affirmation.
Gurl "the big purge" I'm right there with you! I have been on this journey for the last 12 months. I was done what you say, "Gucci me,Chloe me, Louis me but it won't be your 🪙 coin". I hear you sis. That was an awesome and very informative video Alicia. I too have been getting rid of stuff. Given it away or donating them. And I still have stuff! Will continue to keep purging until I am comfortable living with what I have left. Thanks for sharing.
I started a goal last year of donating at least half of my stuff to charity. I read to look at items that you don’t use in terms of money that could’ve been in the bank earning interest.
Hell...I get my sunglasses from WAL-MART..... foster grants, etc..I will NOT pay over 20.00 for sun glasses...also, certain goodwill stores has New sunglasses for purchase!!...I LIVE a nice, healthy, downsized, debt free, spirtual lifestyle!...I REFUSE to spend thousands of dollars for NONSENSE!.....Even....cars, trucks, etc...I get great furniture pieces..BUT only when it's marked down 30 to 50 %..... I have and do purchase GOOD quality items, when NEEDED and few items I want...BUT I am blessed to wait for sales, Mark downs, etc...and I pay cash for EVERYTHING!
Excellent list. Tfs❤️. This literally could be my list🙂. I wholeheartedly agree on eye shadow palettes and big purses. I’ve recently threw away my eyeshadow and donated my big purses. I prefer crossbody bags. As to sunglasses,I have a friend in the optical industry and she says inexpensive sunglasses block the sun just as good, sometimes better depending on the UV level, than expensive ones. On the cologne, after I noticed that folks, even strangers, were always complimenting me on how good a certain fragrance smelled on me, I started buying just that one fragrance. Oh my goodness,I feel attacked 😂, I stopped buying books, too, have so many books to donate
Hi Parker, FYI... you are forcing your freezer to work harder than necessary by not defrosting it🧐. You are so on point about everything, the only thing I don't have issues with are the prints, I buy so many solid pieces I was actually thinking about incorporating some Prints🤔
💟. Yes indeed Felicia, same with me as far as having to put the brakes on buying !!! It's been a little while now since I've been more mindful of my over buying...but it's so gratifying to know that I've actually overcome that ridiculous & uncontrollable shopping habit!!! I like to focus more on donating my items now! Thanks for your honesty & inspiration which others can gain insight from! 💟💜💟
I am so glad to hear you are on it with vintage purses. When my mom passed I received all her purses and I have been collecting vintage bags ever since.
I realize I'm a shopaholic. I do NOTHING in moderation. Shoes, boots, purses, jewelry, perfume, makeup, I have wayyyyy too much of everything!! I refused to give anything away in the past but just recently gave away 4 contractor size trash bags full of stuff I rarely used or never wore and I'm not done yet. I don't need to buy another thing. I do have a vintage designer bag addiction, that's the only thing I see continuing to adding to my collection. I don't need to waste 💰💰💰 on anything else!!
Roberta- Some of us are recreational buyers! What if we found a group of girls who we could buy stuff for? It would help alleviate the need to shop and help someone else who may appreciate it.
I don't know what it is!!! But I like you, have started purging and fine tuning and scaling down on the things I have in my life. So I can simplify my wardrobe, and overall life. This video is definitely essential. Thank you for this video!!
Great eye-opening video that I stumbled across at the right time. I too have excessive necessary stuff I was wasting money on. I'm purging and fasting on buying stuff going into 2023 as my resolution!
This was a good, sensible video.. I'm definitely doing a list of items I'm going to stop buying.. Although I need to stop buying perfumes, I know I'm not so I won't even fool myself .. But you have a great collection, I would love to see a video on them..
I like sunglasses from Shein for when I’m walking my dog- cute but if they get destroyed in the park no worries. I feel you on pajamas- how many sets do we need??!!
I am the same way with the eyeshadow palettes. I use the same 3 during the week and a few color ones on the weekend. Due to the pandemic I stopped wearing a lot of makeup so time for a no buy! Loved the video!
The thing with prints..girl I'm on a whole elevation journey period so I've been trying to define and find my own style and really trying to getore into meeutrals and plain clothes that can be re worn alot and often and I find when I'm shopping I'm drawn to prints either. Because they were are pretty or colors that are pretty but not necessarily to wear lol I end up with these grand prints that would have looked better on house items smh ...I'm trying the last time I shopped I literally heard your voice saying no prints lol
A few years back I started making a point to USE what I have and STOP buying more. Makeup, perfume and candles were my first 3 things to STOP buying until I use up what I have..
Girl, when u said big purses I almost feel out, I used to buy the big homeless lady bags and I don’t even use them. I love me a mini bag especially in the summer I’m just trying to have the essentials now in the winter I do seem to carry a little more items but a crossbody will do. Love your channel your definitely one of my favorites. Keep up the amazing work and thanks for sharing your time and thoughts with us 💕💕
You're wearing the flower earrings I saw on Shein. The outfit you are sporting would be great to attend a wedding reception 😀 Years ago I discontinued buying Meat plans bcuz defrosting meat delayed me satisfying my taste buds😌 secondly, I tossed many trays of meat that I may not have felt like cooking that particular day. I do not freeze meat. Each Wednesday I purchase 3 or 4 trays of meat then cook daily Thursday thru Sunday. Sundays I restock for the next 2 days. Once per week I go meatless.
I can definitely relate. I'm on the process of pairing down to because i just be buying stuff to buy it. Need to update my personal list because I've been slipping lately.

Thanks for this list, I'm on track girl. I've been purging for the last six months and it feels SO GOOD!
And..the cost of gas
Gurl "the big purge" I'm right there with you! I have been on this journey for the last 12 months. I was done what you say, "Gucci me,Chloe me, Louis me but it won't be your 🪙 coin". I hear you sis. I will be buying my first home by end of 2021. My credit cards are just about paid off. My savings is boomng. No longer living to buy pointless stuff I don't need or use. I feel really accomplished and proud of my financial future. Good luck sis!
I feel you. I have been purging my clothes for about 4 months. 🥰🥰
Love the tulip earrings.
I love the two chairs behind you!!! 🍇🍓🍉🍎🍒🫐🍑🍊🥭🍍🍌🍋🍐🍏🥝🍈
Now why do I love your channel already?! I just found you today and now am binging and I have am exam Monday, Tuesday assignment due, Wednesday lab report due , Thursday assignment2 due and and Friday test. Just wow!!
You know what else I stop buying a lot of...linens and blankets. I have about 3 sets and a few blankets. Those things take up space.
ONE OF THE BEST VLOGS ON UA-cam, MAKES GOOD SENSE, VERY HELPFUL SIS. AND APPRECIATED. THANK YOU❤️
Sis I'm loving these declutter videos. Thank you again for your vulnerability with this. I think a lot of us need to admit that we have a problem in certain areas (me included) and say enough is enough. This is motivating! Question- would you do a haul for your shoes? Shoes can be so hard to get rid of!
You are my mentor for giving up prints. Its a crutch for me. Watching your videos helps so much. Thank you!
I'm happy for you. I wish you all the best...I made the decision to buy intentionally and stop wasting my money a while back...It was outta hand 🙄 you got this 🎉🎉🎉
That was an awesome and very informative video Alicia. I too have been getting rid of stuff. Given it away or donating them. And I still have stuff! Will continue to keep purging until I am comfortable living with what I have left.
Thanks for sharing.
Pajamas & robes, large designer/luxury handbags, luxury designer sunglasses and lipsticks are my wasteful guilty pleasures… I am over prints as well.
I believe the same few companies make the cheap and expensive sun glasses...the only difference is what label they glue on them.
Yes, Yes! And Definitely yes to all!! I need to do it all!! Thanks for giving us motivation to do better❤
Come THROUGH with the Shein earrings!!!
Girl go to your local public library!! You can ask them to purchase a book!
Hey, do you still rock your crossbody bags on corporate/office/formal outfits?
Amen to all of that!! Especially eyeshadow palettes, large purses, FOUNDATIONS!!! Thank you for the encouragement to purge
This video has certainly got me to thinking and I will be limiting or not buying a lot of these items as well. Such great ideas.
Your earrings are GORGEOUS!!! You look so pretty!!!
Thank you so much telling us where you got those beautiful, tulip earrings. I ordered mine.
I just gave away twelve eyeshadow Palette’s to my coworker . During the Pandemic I went crazy I kept a few but like you I reach for the same ones.
I agree 100% I started this journey last year way too much stuff!
Hi Parker, FYI... you are forcing your freezer to work harder than necessary by not defrosting it🧐. You are so on point about everything, the only thing I don't have issues with are the prints, I buy so many solid pieces I was actually thinking about incorporating some Prints🤔
You are so right about the sunglasses! I am addicted to buying nice ones but what a waste of money. Need to stop
💟💜💟
Girl first I love the earrings 😍. I understand and agree. I had throw out food that had went bad. 10 of your things I have came to same conclusion.
Okay I had to watch twice cause them earring had me mesmerized 🥰
Pls buy me planners , from SA
What a great idea.
You wanna buy me a tiny house?
Guilty of all except for the books. I'm an avid reader and love all of my books! Great video!
I LOVE your earrings!
Thanks for the inspiring list. I love small vintage purses too..Can't let go of them..but plenty others.
I can 101% relate. And the inflation is making me realize that more these days.
Great video!! I have going through all those things. I buy food when needed because it was going to waste. Keep up the good work of eliminating.
I needed this! And omg...your earrings 🥰. Yes, I have found that I only like crossbody and small bags now. I keep 1 large bag as a tote for work.
Just send me some before they go bad 🤣🤣
The thing with prints..girl I'm on a whole elevation journey period so I've been trying to define and find my own style and really trying to getore into meeutrals and plain clothes that can be re worn alot and often and I find when I'm shopping I'm drawn to prints either. Because they were are pretty or colors that are pretty but not necessarily to wear lol I end up with these grand prints that would have looked better on house items smh ...I'm trying the last time I shopped I literally heard your voice saying no prints lol
I agree no more expensive shades 😎 for me
Yes I stopped buying books years ago and donated them...I miss reading and I started going to the library
Love this list, love the purging. I've been looking around my place just trying to find where to put things I don't use. Thanks for the ideas.
Did the same with makeup, perfumes and clothes - I purged everything and just kept my expensive makeup - quality over quantity
I heard that Vee. You are so right, quality over quantity. ♥️
Thank you dear, I'm stopping my useless purchase of makeup, perfumes etc it's a lot
A few years back I started making a point to USE what I have and STOP buying more. Makeup, perfume and candles were my first 3 things to STOP buying until I use up what I have..
Thank you for enlightening me on some things I need to get rid of, and yes, some things I need to stop collecting.
I almost purchased more pj's yesterday, but I have quite a bit, so I put them back. I love pj's
Keep up the amazing work and thanks for sharing your time and thoughts with us 💕💕
Fellow pajama addict here. It's not our fault, there's just always so many cute patterns and styles out there! We can stop anytime we want!
Great advice on a lot of these items. Very happy to hear you utilize your public library. I even take my grandkids to the library they love it too
You're wearing the flower earrings I saw on Shein.
What a GREAT LIST. I was like 'yep! Me too' through out
I can definitely relate. I'm on the process of pairing down to because i just be buying stuff to buy it. Need to update my personal list because I've been slipping lately.
Girl you’re right. Since I retired I don’t need all of that stuff but please tell me the name of that wig. It looks beautiful on you. 🔥🔥
Just yes to ALL OF THESE!!! Loving your videos!!!
Girlfriend you have to use the purse your brother give you😂😂😂😂
It’s really pretty. He did a good job.
