It appears that the phone calls, videos and press releases we did yesterday (6th Jan 2024) halped to resolved most of the issues. I will explain this saga in the next video due out shortly.
Good new but it shouldn’t have to come to you posting a video highlighting the flaws. If I order can I bank transfer. This way you get 110% of it. That or I’ll come in person.
They're quick enough to take their Paypal Charges for every transaction that's made through them, which amounts to thousands of pounds from us - they just don't want to escalate the problem and get it resolved. Official complaint has now been raised with the Financial Ombudsman so let's see what happens now! Thank you for all your support 😄
I used PayPal for purchasers until I had some money took from my bank from paypal for things I did not buy. They was not very helpful so stopped using them. Bank was helpful and did refund some of my money even though it was only small amount.
It’s amazing how companies run their business. My wife worked in medical field as a Respiratory Therapist for 25 years. She told one business if she did her job like they did theirs everyone would be on life support.
I have found PayPal to be a real pain in the ass, too, but fortunately I haven't any funds held back. As a small business owner, I can truly sympathize with you. Cash flow is crucial for any business, but especially so for small businesses. I just turned PayPal payments off for our ecommerce and POS sales. Thanks for the heads up on this. Best of luck Wendy!
Keep it switched off Cal. I switched them off a couple of yeas ago when they started cancelling merchants because of political opinions. We don't need that AND financial ineptitude too.
Cal, I'd gladly bother with a direct wire transfer for your products if it came to it. Put whatever service lets you keep the most coin at the top of the list. Many of us can pay in any of a half dozen ways and just click whatever is obvious and fast. Make it clear one way is best for you and we're likely to pick it if it's not much more hassle.
Thanks for the heads up! Sorry for your troubles. I still have no hesitation being one of your customers. In fact, their action spurs me to by from you. PayPal has gone downhill. Just ask the PayPal Mafia... they would probably tell you that Stripe is the way to go anyhow. XRP is the preferred crypto payment method of the future. Shocking things are about to hit the fan.
Sorry for your troubles with PayPal. Small businesses run on such a narrow margin, a glitch like this is so disruptive. PayPal seemed like such a good idea way back when I was doing dozens of eBay purchases. PayPal was touted as another layer of security like a firewall you kept your bank cards behind. I curtailed using eBay when the mail order shipping charges got higher than the cost savings. Nothing works forever and this is why we can't have nice things.
Cal, I totally get how frustrating this is. These financial organizations are quick to take your money but resolving an issue or getting your money is nearly impossible.
I'm pretty sure anyone who does business with paypal has a contract that has fine print that specifically doesn't allow that kind of recourse. This isn't their first rodeo.
Well done for highlighting this Callum - It is very painful when this happens, cashflow is King no matter how small many business's fall over due to delayed or non payments by large corporates. Maybe PayPal will review their process as the message gets out - I hope you get it sorted soon.
I have had the same. Not sure it was Paypal's fault but it cost me 6 months to get my account fully working again. I do not ever attach my bank or credit card again to that service.
You are not alone. I abandoned PayPal some time ago. Sorry I can't offer any advice, only sympathy, and I know only too well that won't pay the bills. I hope you get it resolved soon.
I dropped piss pal because they have a rule that YOU agree to that THEY can FINE you if the decide you said the wrong thing. Minimum fine for that is $2500 and they take it right out of your bank or card and there is nothing you can do about it. Screw that.
Best of luck, and yes it's always the small businesses that suffer in a situation like this, the really large ones may have an individual assigned to them that is higher up the chain of command so that they don't have to escalate things up through the system to get things done, I've worked in a couple of places that have run similarly and unfortunately unless you can speak to someone senior it's very hard to get anything resolved quickly. Wish you all the best in getting a quick resolution.
Quite a timely video as I have been looking to set up small business payments and keep changing my mind between paypal and sum-up, there appears to be horror stories about both so I am still unsure.
I ordered my DX Commander Sig 12.4 via DX engineering and I hope you still made a good profit from that business…Us American patriots hate to see these corporations make life difficult for small businesses. Let us know if we can donate / support you in any other way, let us know where we can buy stickers or other things to bring in funds for you. You can mark them up for fund raising if needed…Thank you for your family owned business you’re doing great service for Ham Radio around the world 🙏🏻
I don't like using PayPal business for another reason. In Romania you can't use the statement they make available at the end of the month for book keeping as prof for the PayPal fees to be deducted as spendings. And they do not give a proper and legal invoice for those fees each month as Stripe does for example or any other legal business in EU... except PayPal. I really hate that.
If it’s held as a balance within paypal put a packet of biscuits on PayPal as buy it now for that exact amount then immediately buy it from yourself. As long as there are no charges incurred it sounds like it would work.
I use to have Paypal for buying but stopped using it after I had some money took out of my bank from Paypal. Paypal was not very helpful but bank did pay back money I had took out. Was not huge amount but could of gone more if I did nothing. Some how someone was able to use my PayPal and take from my bank.
WOW! This is not your problem, PayPal should advance you your money from THEIR bank, and once the issue has been resolved Jan 28th, they just take that money as reimbursement. Are they offering to pay you interest on your money that they have on hold?
Paypal doesn't do current exchange correctly...they tried to screw me when i bought a product in euros the exchange rate was no where close to reality...
You had to rob Peter to Pay....Pal ... Do what you gotta do to get paid! As a small business owner, sometimes it is such a damn hassle to maintain cashflow. We will keep buying your products no matter what service you use Cal!
Just finding PayPal threatening my business account with restrictions on transfers until I give documentation on transactions from 10 + year subscription clients. Some really bizarre stuff going on. I suspect that your issue may not be a technical issue as a result. Also planning to move to stripe.
You got someone on the phone willing to discuss that issue with you which is always a plus. You ended the conversation on your clip talking to Paypal in the same manner as I talked to Ebay for 20 years and possibly with the same result I got. It aged me and along the way nothing changed at all just a different month and a different person to go over similar grounds with. With Ebay I also had my money witheld over 30 days we are talking thousands by the way. Also no reason cited as to why. I don't believe Paypal are being straight with you on this - not at all. Saying that I must say that I never had an issue with them myself. You always seem very calm but at the end I cn see the frustration in your face you hold it back but it's not good for your health. We need people in Ham radio like you only stressed by the falling derrick not stuck on dealing with accounts! I can assure you whatever they say thay don't give a damn. I'd put my money on it but after your clip maybe not with them!
Sorry to hear this Cal. PayPal are a bunch of shysters. Stay strong and keep going best you can. On a side note, just checking are you guys IOSS registered? Make sure when it's all hopefully over, to note times and dates of everything down, then do a SAR and FOI request under GDPR legislation, then take them to small claims court, or other channels if the monies withheld are significant. Don't give up. DE EI3LH. 👍
My ADHD would normally have had me losing my cool after the first 15 min of that phone call. Not sure how I would be now that I am medicated again but glad I haven’t had to call anywhere for a complaint in a while.
never had a problem with them myself , but say for instance someone buys a product from you using there debit card and it is faulty can ebay still take the money back from the seller .?
Total scumbags. They could give a fxxk less about ever doing the right thing and if you’re not a huge customer you might as well not exist to them. I’ve had issues where they admitted I was right and the other party was lying and in the same breath said “except this is the policy”.
It always manages to be that PayPal has the money and can't get to it for some reason - one way traffic - just imagine the amount of money that they have tied up globally. Good business for them anyway - but very sharp practice.
PayPal is desperately scrounging to accumulate as much money as possible because of the tidal wave coming their way in the form of the Honey lawsuits. PayPal are screwed six ways to Sunday, and they deserve every bit of turmoil coming their way.
Sounds like Paypal needs to save all the money, so they can afford the lawsuits that are being filed for the whole Honey situation that was uncovered! 🤷♂🤦♂
Good ol' "we're not a bank so we don't have to follow the rules" Paypal. "Oh, you're website had some fraudulent purchases recently? Your account is now flagged and your balance was transferred to our investment account, we might give it back to you at some later date once we've run out of bogus "technical" excuses to keep it from you."
It appears that the phone calls, videos and press releases we did yesterday (6th Jan 2024) halped to resolved most of the issues. I will explain this saga in the next video due out shortly.
Don't blame you a bit Callum!! I also no longer use them. PayPal is no longer a pal! Great Video! 👍👍👍
Good new but it shouldn’t have to come to you posting a video highlighting the flaws.
If I order can I bank transfer. This way you get 110% of it. That or I’ll come in person.

I wouldn’t hold your breath re the Ombudsman.
should be elevated to court.
Bloody PayPal is like Google: it's essentially a robot out of control surrounded by fools who know nothing and care less.
100% spot on..!
And eBay! I’ve given up. I sell on my own website, I send pro-forma invoice, customer pays by bank transfer, I post goods.
I have stopped using PayPal for our club for similar reasons. PayPal is good for purchasers, but a living nightmare for merchants.
I used PayPal for purchasers until I had some money took from my bank from paypal for things I did not buy. They was not very helpful so stopped using them. Bank was helpful and did refund some of my money even though it was only small amount.
Give them the Bud Light treatment!
It'd be nice if the Honey lawsuit puts PayPal out of business.
THIS!
PayPal is horrible! I gave them up several years ago when they wanted to fine users for what they deemed thought crimes.
This has limited my use of their service as well. I still use them, just not very much.
This was also my final straw.
Keep it switched off Cal. I switched them off a couple of yeas ago when they started cancelling merchants because of political opinions. We don't need that AND financial ineptitude too.
Thanks for the heads up Cal.
We’ve had our problems with customer support also.
Lots of places have dropped PayPal, you don't need them.
Good Luck Callum. I hope you can resolve the issues that have transpired. All the best with the big business slow wheel.
Paypal will need YOUR money to cover the fines and compensation that courts will award them over the Honey scandle.
Cal, I'd gladly bother with a direct wire transfer for your products if it came to it. Put whatever service lets you keep the most coin at the top of the list. im very sorry to hear this, keep strong
Good for you Callum!!! Horrible company!
Are kidding? WOW! what a drag!! sorry to hear this Cal. You guys are the best company around and sorry you have deal with these people!!😠
Paypal is a scumbag company.
Good riddance to PayPal. I was so tired of the endless phone calls with their arrogant "customer service" in Germany.
Cal, I totally get how frustrating this is. These financial organizations are quick to take your money but resolving an issue or getting your money is nearly impossible.
Good to know. As a customer I will no longer use them. Inexcusable behavior which should be subject to some regulatory action and penalty.
Take 'em to court for loss of earnings. Add up the interest per day and estimate a claim amount.
I'm pretty sure anyone who does business with paypal has a contract that has fine print that specifically doesn't allow that kind of recourse. This isn't their first rodeo.
Most of these big corporations are so difficult to deal with when there is a problem.
lets go back to placing an order and then calling the seller to pay by card. 10 more minutes won't kill us and it's good to talk 🙂
I stopped using PayPal years ago I had a similar issue when I was selling surplus NOS Land Rover parts.
We use auto withdraw Cal, it's an overnight transfer. Limits the risk.
Same trouble here. They accused me of money Laundering
I had similar experience over nine years ago when I owned my company before retiring. It appears that they have not changed much. Sad.
What a pain! My only use for them was to avoid credit card foreign transaction fees.
Well done for highlighting this Callum - It is very painful when this happens, cashflow is King no matter how small many business's fall over due to delayed or non payments by large corporates. Maybe PayPal will review their process as the message gets out - I hope you get it sorted soon.
6 weeks delay should come with mandatory compensation
I feel your pain, just as a consumer every time I used PayPal my credit card was hacked, so I can only imagine what it's ike on your end
I have had the same. Not sure it was Paypal's fault but it cost me 6 months to get my account fully working again. I do not ever attach my bank or credit card again to that service.
Over the years I’ve seen this story over and over again with different small companies. Time to move away from PayPal
I wonder if people are targeting PayPal in response to the Honey scam.
You are not alone. I abandoned PayPal some time ago. Sorry I can't offer any advice, only sympathy, and I know only too well that won't pay the bills. I hope you get it resolved soon.

Don’t blame you Sorry to hear this Wish I could help
Best of luck, and yes it's always the small businesses that suffer in a situation like this, the really large ones may have an individual assigned to them that is higher up the chain of command so that they don't have to escalate things up through the system to get things done, I've worked in a couple of places that have run similarly and unfortunately unless you can speak to someone senior it's very hard to get anything resolved quickly. What he said. What bit of merch has the best margins for ya? I'll go buy some right now.
Make sure to charge them 3.5% interest for the duration that you don't have access to your funds.
Best of luck Mate. Hope it all works out in the end. Ciao!
I prefer to use PayPal for international transactions but, in light of the complications, thank you for the explanation.
I don't like using PayPal business for another reason. Hi Cal, finger crossed it all gets sorted PDQ
I dropped PayPal a couple of years ago. They are out of control

Their behavior is outrageous.
Dont blame ya Cal, cheers, gd luck getting it solved
Paypal doesn't do current exchange correctly...they tried to screw me when i bought a product in euros the exchange rate was no where close to reality...
Hope it all works out for you. Good luck. 73s
Six weeks of PayPal skimming interest off of your money.
You had to rob Peter to Pay....Pal ... Do what you gotta do to get paid! As a small business owner, sometimes it is such a damn hassle to maintain cashflow. We will keep buying your products no matter what service you use Cal!

PayPal is not a reliable service
And if it goes on past that time, might be worth getting in a lawyer (no win no fee basis).
Typical of big corporate. No service to small business. Good luck with things Cal. -B
After the "Honey" scam, we all learned that we can't trust PayPal as far as we can throw them.
Don't blame anyone for not doing business with any company that behaves that way. Simply unacceptable in today's climate.
PayPal are the worst. Like eBay, and similar legacy providers. They’re simply terrible.
Wishing you the best of luck with PayPal… unfortunate events.
Please do not switch it back on!!!
In support of you, Callum, I am no longer doing business with PayPal, either. I am joining your boycott, Sir!
It's always something ! Take care Callum, 73 Joe
This isn't anything to do with eBay. Only PayPal. And of course, with a credit card, you are still protected anyway.
@@DXCommanderHQ ty for the eads up.
When I deal with people I don’t know online PayPall gives me comfort. I’m not willing to use charge card online .
are they turning chinese? they dont have a good reputation and are getting sued from all directions.
Why don't you use the EU equivalent of PayPal?
Total scumbags. They could give a fxxk less about ever doing the right thing and if you’re not a huge customer you might as well not exist to them. I’ve had issues where they admitted I was right and the other party was lying and in the same breath said “except this is the policy”.
I hope you get Interest on your held money. The least they can do.
I’ve not been hearing good things about PayPal.
unfortunately, the customer service reps don’t give a sh!t about customer service. it’s just a job that they probably hate anyway.
good move....PayPal is corrupt Garbage
Wise decision leaving PayPal.
good for you.
paypal are just not worth it now.
ebay does not like paypal payment now.
It always manages to be that PayPal has the money and can't get to it for some reason - one way traffic - just imagine the amount of money that they have tied up globally. Good business for them anyway - but very sharp practice.
PayPal is a rip off in every country. Never trust them again. Just as bad here in America.
So maybe we as customers of online stores should be careful paying with PayPal.
wow. Terrible customer service. Hope it resolves soon Callum.
Cloudflare is awesome! Sounds like paypal needs to step it up!
PayPal is desperately scrounging to accumulate as much money as possible because of the tidal wave coming their way in the form of the Honey lawsuits. PayPal are screwed six ways to Sunday, and they deserve every bit of turmoil coming their way.
They are about to loose alot of money due to the honey scam they are being sued by a lot of creators..
I hate PayPal and have not used them for years.
Let them go. Not worth the hassle.
I understand
Sounds like Paypal needs to save all the money, so they can afford the lawsuits that are being filed for the whole Honey situation that was uncovered! 🤷♂🤦♂
Just sent large sum from PayPal to my bank account
We would do away with PayPal if we could, they are a pain my lads business could do without.
PayPal are the worse.. avoid them like the plague.
I wonder if PayPal cares?
To err is human. To really screw things up requires a computer.
