  • "Magic Hands" - a project about handicrafts, community life, women empowerment, and intercultural dialogue and peace in Serbia and Kosovo.
"Magic Hands" consisted of two international voluntary workcamps that took place in Tavankut (Serbia) and Plemetina (Kosovo) in July and August 2015.
Activities were focused on creative art works that are traditionally made by women from Tavankut and Plemetina. Women from the local communities shared their knowledge and taught international volunteers how to make traditional handicrafts. Participants were documenting the creation of handicrafts as well as the role of women and lifestyle of people in these specific communities. All these materials were used for publishing a book that appeared at the beginning of December 2015 in Novi Sad.
The project was organized and implemented by Gaia Kosovo (SCI Kosovo), VCV (SCI Serbia) and SCI Switzerland who are part of a worldwide network of peace organizations (SCI International). SCI coordinates volunteer exchanges and implements peace and community building projects all over the world.
"Magic Hands" was generously supported by Swiss National Youth Council's East Project fund.
