It was memorable for sure! Definitely more fun to look back on … and if I were to do it again I think I’d choose a warmer month with more daylight (this was a March hike and the sun was setting between 6-7pm)
I don't like hiking in the Fall with all the leaves down. It is too hard to see rocks and roots. Isn't this trail. in Far Out? That would tell you if you were on the trail. Ahh, M&M's. My fav's are M&M Peanut. Ugh! A water crossing with a steep bank on the other side. John from MI
It is in FarOut however the app was having issues where if I zoomed in at all the red line would disappear, so I couldn’t really check against the maps at all because for the most part it just showed my location arrow and no trail line… I think they’ve fixed it since, but at the time the maps were effectively useless
Despite the rain and multiple creek crossings, i hope you are enjoying the trail. The OHT was my first thru hike, I hiked it in 2021
Oh yah, the bird is a red tail hawk

Great to get an update! Was beginning to wonder if you had just built a boat 😂 Hope you enjoy that pizza you’ve certainly earned it ❤
A boat would be nice 😂
