The gravity technology on the Fist of Rukt (the first Gravity hammer, as you put it) was added to the hammer well after the Brutes joined the Covenant. The original hammer was just a large stone head on what amounted to a stick. When Tartarus rose to power, the Prophet of Truth had the Fist of Rukt outfitted with "gravity impellors", making it into the hammer we see in Halo 2. Other gravity hammers used the Fist as a template. EDIT: Still, good video and fun to watch :)
@@GAZAMAN93X well that's a bit hard to say really. I mean even humans have very little chance at figuring out gravity manipulation. Remember what happened to the first guy who ever suggested the doctors wash their hands before delivering babies? He was fired
For those who wants to know the background music used: 0:25 Thrillseeker 3 by Gustavsson & Sandberg Next song was Thrillseeker 2 by Gustavsson & Sandberg, again. 4:30 Thrillseeker 1 by Gustavsson & Sandberg I don't know the last one but it kinda sounds like Really Slow Motion made it. I. Chrome A pair of hunters is colony of worms so when you killed one of them you are literally killing half of them hence why they go berserk when the other die.
they work like the geth from mass effect, they have a kind of hive mind where each of the worms communicate with each other to effectively create a single being
In the lore, the Brutes had achieved Tier 4 technology as according to the Forerunner's Technological Achievement Scales. This was the Space-faring age, when a species can travel away from their homeworld. This tier was where the Jiralhanae had reached, until their warlike nature got the better of them, and they would enter a very bloody civil war, which would set them all the way back to Tier 7 [neolithic or at least pre-industrial].
InsayneDaRoss it bounces cause it needs to arm itself before exploding. also cause the magentic fiery plasma casts a field for it to bounce rather than explode
the hydra is right we have/had missiles that would arm itself after a set time after launching. with the fuel rod cannon it most likely measures the distance to what ever it is being pointed at and makes adjustments to when the projectile will be able to explode on impact this would explain why it bounces off thing when firing at something far away but explode instantly when shooting it off near you, like so many have when looking straight down the fist time they used it
damn i needed more motivation to continue making my halo game. red vs blue got me started the books kept it alive and the series gave me an idea how glassing actually is like and once i get past making the mechanics of the game i want to add glassing
Wouldn't a Button (a device of the distant future of 2017) suffice for activating the Thrusters on the Hammer? Yeah, you can't realy make one out, but it could be realy small or be inside the grip (like the speculated iPhone finger sensor). Also a second press on the Button or just a impact sensor (also "future" technology) would suffice to activate the Gravitation thingy. Love your vids :3
TheGekey77 Yeah, I just don't get how that justifies the use of a Gyroscope. You couldn't see one in the Hammer, but he thinks it's using a Gyroscope. And he even says that the Brutes are not that intelligent, so why shouldn't they use a Butto... oh right, because they are not inteligent.
The most amazing thing about this is how much thinking actually goes into the design of the weapon. If someone told me to make a warhammer, I'd just put a big blob on a stick.
really neat video, I especially love your own take on RvB, I also really enjoyed your little pop culture references littered through the video (Shockwave from G1 Transformers, Sonic Boom Sonic etc)
I think including negative radiation pressure as part of the theory on the attraction could be interesting. I'm not familiar with the Halo series, but it there seems to be some light when the hammer is used to pull things.
How about a Gunblade? How can it shoot a bullet and still work as a sword (functionally without breaking the chamber). I kinda figured it out, but a video explaining it to the masses would be great. It could be Squall's, Seifer's, Lightning's or maybe the trio from Advent Children, Yazoo, Kadaj, and Loz. Since I'm sure they would all work the same, but Light's is more complicated since in can fold in on itself.
I've got a few suggestions for weapons for the next video -Mass Shotgun (form Enter the Gungeon) -Technology X (form The Binding of Isaac) or any other of the Technology items. -Xenopopper (from Terraria)
Now, I have an idea. How about you do a video on how the Concussion Rifle or the Energy Sword work, or why the UNSC downgraded their pistols over time? Great sciencey theory, by the way! Good luck in your future videos, Dr. Knoggin! -Wolf
Very awesome vid. If you want to do any more of these, I'd love to hear about the Covenant Cabrine and the Fuel Rod Launcher. I believe they work fairly similarly, so iDK if it'd be too hard to do a two-fer.
we have/had missiles that would arm itself after a set time after launching. with the fuel rod cannon it most likely measures the distance to what ever it is being pointed at and makes adjustments to when the projectile will be able to explode on impact this would explain why it bounces off thing when firing at something far away but explode instantly when shooting it off near you, like so many have when looking straight down the fist time they used it reason a lot theory channels that do do halo weapons don't really cover it much is because besides a few things it is easiest to understand and figure out
The inside of the hammer during the inspect animation looks a lot like speakers, which could definitely be used to produce a shock wave (and a sonic boom in the most direct way possible) as well as a build up and release of internal pressure.
How about the Fuel Rod Launcher that both the Hunters and Grunts have that can also be affixed to a stand to become an anti-vehicle weapon? Or even the energy sword.
Nice vid, as for the weapon I want: How bout the Mega Buster and the Variable Weapons System. The VWS is literally just a small electronic chip thing, but how does it actually create whole new objects or blasts with just that and a lemon shooting buster?
Little lorebyte that supports the "Maybe they did invent gravity powers" component: The Brutes are a race constantly at war with themselves, and forever in a state of both technological advancement and regression. For instance, there are many recorded instances of Brutes discovering interstellar travel, then warring themselves down to such a point that space travel was a thing of the past. It's possible that in the past, Brutes were able to make Gravity Hammers, and leading up to their discovery by the Covenant, find an old Gravity Hammer, reverse engineer it, and make new ones. Alternatively, the Gravity Hammer could follow the same ideas as the Brute Plasma Rifle in Halo 2, where it is existing Covenant tech that was modified by the Brutes to suit their needs. This isn't too far fetched, as the Ghosts, Spectres, and Wraiths all utilize some form of anti-gravity technology, inversing the effects so instead of levitating above the ground, it pushes nearby objects away, is within the realm of plausibility.
If the offer is still valid, I would love to see a dissection of the grass spike thrower from Mass Effect 2 and 3. That gun doesn’t get enough love. It doesn't even have to be a full video, I would just be grateful for the response. Take care, and be blessed.
Research the Torque Bow next! I could never figure out how a normal, if highly advanced bow, could shoot a seemingly normal arrow, that if pulled back long enough, will explode on you(or if drawn for a much shorter time, its intended target). And there's the fact on how it can sever heads.
This was great! the only thing that I'd challenge is the jet on the back. There could just be a button on the hilt. otherwise, great vid. Also: do the energy sword.
The Rodin (weapon) from Bayonetta. Or maybe something on how weapons get switched out in Ratchet & Clank; the older games feature some sort of transformational animation, so there's that.
Great theory, but I'm leaning more towards the explanation that the covenant forced the engineer slave to create to gravity hammer using ancient forerunner secrets.
A better explanation for the thrusters is using a accelerometer where moved fast enough it will turn on. This is already commonly used even in headphones
Personal hypothosis I've stuck to since its inception. The gravity hammer has a large mass of metal in the head, probably iron, and I would guess around 200-500 pounds, as this weight is easy to carry for both Spartans and Covenet. The user starts a swing and turns on 3 magnets towards the front end the head, the striking area. This accelerates the metal towards the magnets and as they impact a metal sheet inside(to protect the magnets) they accelerate the hammer as well. There is a guy who made a Captain America Shield which I would use as a perfect example of what the hammer would look like on the inside. This would also explain the pushing and pulling, as the last part of this video would be perfectly reasonable with this build.
I was just watched the halo wars 2 ad with the car dealership.....now a halo theory on the epic gravity hammer. I never played halo in awhile. Most of the time I occasionally play at a friends place who has an Xbox. Using it to crush flood, pesky grunts......the one who had the hammer first.
You can also use it to kill the brute while the brute is wielding it... by the way it does require another weapon, basically you use the downswing to boost your jump.

another theory. that ball in the head spins perpendicular to the side of the gravity hammer and when it stops the centrifugal force slams it into whatever youre hitting. kinda like if you left a chuck wrench in a chuck and it started spinning and you stopped it it would keep going, or another example would be if youre on a marygoround and it stops suddenly youd keep going smashing into things
Just want to correct something. While the Fist of Rukt did far pre-date the Covenant it was upgraded by the Prophets when the Brutes joined. Gravity Hammers are just regular war hammers prior to the Covenant.
I think for the thrusters there's a small trigger, same for the shockwave... a remote detonation of some sort, which would explain why it has limited uses but that's what I think
For whatever reason I was thinking the GH (gravity hammer) had a black hole system inside that ball, like the voids tear and the delta beam rifle, but then none of that would make sense
I'd like to see an analysis of the Plasma Rifle from Halo (As well as the other weapons that also use plasma) and an analysis of the Pulse Pistols used by Tracer from Overwatch. I get the feeling that they might both use similar tech to produce the projectiles
Also, after doing some quick research, the Brutes didn't equip the Fist of Rukt with the Gravity Hammer tech, it was equipped to it after Tartarus became the Chieftain of the Brutes and inspired the design of the other Gravity Hammers.
The Brutes may be in a dark age, or they have a class/caste or scientist and engineers who are probably heavily suppressed or even eliminated, which would lead to their dark age. But an extreme mastery of electromagnetism makes more sense, and would be wildly more energy efficient that artificially generating gravity.
if you look on some of the older hammars they have a lever so that could be the trigger and maybe it uses the same anti gravity technology from the banshee
