Hugely enjoyable video! I went to Limnos at the end of September ('23) after a particularly stressful summer. It was the most relaxing holiday I have had in a very long time. Not too touristy, pleasantly scruffy in many parts, which shows that the island is primarily a place to be lived rather than visited. I rented a scooter from the company near the museum and pottered all over the island with a stupid grin on my face. A quick shout-out to the cyclists I met at Therma (sadly closed). I believe they were staying at the Mark Warner resort on Platy Beach, just south of Myrina.
Thanks for your nice comment. I was also there in September. It's a lovely place if you want to relax. I would be happy to live there if I didn't have to work anymore :)
Lemnos is where one popou and two yiayias came from before migrating to the United States. My other popou imigrated from Samothrace. I feel a kinship with this place. I remember the love in my father's eyes when he talked about Lemnos while I was growing up. At 74, I feel that I must travel to Lemnos and enjoy my roots.
All 4 of my great grandparents are from Lemonos. Psomas, Hitsous, Harami are the family names that I know of. This summer 2024 will be my first visit. I'm hoping to find long lost family.
Great heavens! Visited 13 times!? I have always wanted to retire to Menorca, but Limnos is incredibly seductive. When did you first visit the island, dare I ask? Has it changed much?
@travelbugse2829 Hi, my first visit was in September 2000, lots of changes since then, especially the beach! It's a lot more crowded now. Manolis has extended his beach bar hugely over the years + various other bars have extended/sprung up!I wouldn't travel there in July/August when it's absolutely packed! It's very popular with Northern Greek mainland residents for their annual holiday. There is very little change to the main town, except the small harbour frontage has been tidied up since the main ferry port moved across the bay. It was great fun sitting in the cafenion watching the chaos as the big HGV's tried to negotiate through the narrow choke point where there are now traffic lights. Obviously, lots of shops and tavernas have changed names/owners over the years, but the same staff just move around, it seems! This year I did notice a lot more Scandinavians (3 or 4 flights each weekend in season) I would love to live there and if money was no object I'd pop back to UK just for July/August! I'm hoping to do a split month next year, half on Lemnos, the other half at my other favourite place, Kalyves on North Western Crete...I just need a lottery win to fund it😉
Haha, that's hilarious (not the fact that you keep getting wiped out). Can't believe they made Myrina Lemnos a place in a video game! Went on holiday there for a couple of weeks. Nice quietish island. Do you think other players of the game might find the walkthrough interesting? I might add 'Altis Life' to the description if so. Does it look very similar in the game? Myrina is the main (biggest) town on the island (they call it 'the city'). Is the castle in the game? Still got to make edit that video and put it on UA-cam (as well as some othe towns). Anyway, you can get past this level, i have faith in you. keep going! :)

It's a lovely place. The worst that could happen is that you could have a really nice relaxed holiday. Nothing to lose :)

Thanks! Very interesting. Lemnos seems to have a ‘short sharp’ season and then go back to its slumbering life. I stayed at Hotel Diamantidis
Thank you for covering Limnos. One of the loveliest islands
