That said, I really don't know why A-Train nor Starlight did, considering how she was wailing on him there at the end. Other than I know she doesn't like killing. From a writing perspective, it's kind of lazy, but they can explain it away by it would take too much time and Noire would recover. Plus, offing another member of the Seven would give them all the reason to come at the Boys harder.

It's going to hurt when Atrain dies, like he's got an amazing character arc and i've really fallen in love with his character. His is definitely going to be a death of self sacrifice.
- Who would’ve thought that A-Train would be the LEAST problematic of the speedsters in media this year 😅 - I wanna see the scene where A-Train is pacing in front of the flat iron, deciding if he’s gonna help Annie & Butcher or not (and out himself for good as the leak in the process). - I love Michael Keaton, but I do wish THE FLASH movie used Jeffrey Dean Morgan instead as the Thomas Wayne variant of Batman, like in FLASHPOINT, given that they already established him as Bruce Wayne’s dad in the DCEU.
Also, I do love the parallel between Homelander's breakdown on live TV and Ryan's turn to the Light Side on live TV. They both went off-script, Ashley told both technical directors to cut to commercial, and they both heard that command and said "no".
29:33 - *_This twist of the shapeshifter was the SUPREME ABSOLUTE BEST TWIST/REVEAL in all 4 seasons of The Boys!! FANTASTIC moment and so well played to make us forget the shapeshifter for most of the episode after introducing her in the very same episode!_*
Not to pat myself on the back too much, but I immediately got a super weird vibe from fake-Starlight. It was super subtle but it's a great piece of acting. Just off enough from the real character that I could pick it up, but not too much that someone would immediately be suspicious. Also, terrifying implication of the shapeshifter's power: they can copy their target's memories?!?!?! That's a busted power.

After seeing Homelander jump the gun and just laser Anika without getting all the info out of her when they thought she was the leak, you can't blame Sage one bit for not immediately telling him about A Train. Homelander is such a man child. He will never ever be able to pull off a multi layered plan like most villains because he is impatient and would rather just kill everyone in his way. You have to play the long game man!
During the Christmas program, the song told kids to report their parents. Didn't they program the kids in Germany before and during WWII as well to report inconsistencies with their parents?
How does starlights mom know that hughey kept the suit? Why does she have that information? It’s played like Annie didn’t even know so how is her mom in the loop
Maybe she talked to Hughie about it? He probably told her when he was worried about Annie. Partners DO typically have a relationship with their significant others' parents.
When Annie quit Starlight, it was all the way at the end of season 3. Starlight haven't become a bad figure back then so she/her mom and Hughie still got a good relationship
The way the Shape-shifter changed by removing it's skin is another nod to Eric Kripke's other show Supernatural. Where the shape shifters did the same thing except not as graphic lol

Why did Starlight not use her electic powers in the fight against Deep? earlier in the show she had threatened Deep to blind him, if he ever touches her. Why did Neuman not pop some heads? For example that of Butcher?
Sage is too smart not to have a plan B...seems plausible that her shapeshifter accomplice might be bringing the info to her so she has leverage?? Going to be painful waiting a week for the season finale
A-train had such a great episode….his turn around and helping and pretty much talking MM into staying, I can’t help think that he’s gonna get whacked next episode. There’s only 1 left and I think a bunch of people are gonna die. 🤷🏻♂️
SO what do you guys think was on the Maeve notebook that Sage purposefully left there. Obviously, shes been writing plans and stuff in it, and she showed tek knight some stuff in it a couple episodes ago. Im not sure what it could be, or who she expects to find it.
Loved the fight scene, n I got the alleged skinwalker vibe when starlight was talking from a room away. I had shady squinted eyes on it since what the suit really means to her n to wear it to only smash was unlike the character from the jump. Love love love the best season so far.

Take a moment to look at Annie's facial structure as the shapeshifter, in the moment she had the suit on, th elaugh etc, she had a younger looking face, she showed more Annie than the original Annie herself, then again, this was only an observation, because I was suspicious of the facial structure mostly and the moment had an underlying suspense to it. A hallucination that isn't a product of your imagination, i think Becca was a 'real hallucination' so to speak, Joe Kessler is gaining control of Billy's brain and now that he's got more power over him he's speaking with Becca's avatar through Butcher's imagination/hallucination. Kessler is a parasite/symbiote that's hijacking his body like venom. I would not be surprised if we don't see Becca again until butcher is struggling to stop him from doing something very bad. She will probably be suppressed by Joe but in butcher's darkest moment, she'll appear again to rally his willpower
My issue with a supposedly genius character(s) is (and always was) they're only as smart as a person(s) who wrote them... I'm still waiting when Sage's "genius" finally shows up. She's supposed to be at least two steps ahead before everybody, yet she does stupid mistakes and lets herself to get caught off guard multiple times. Writing for this show just isn't what it used to be. This is the first episode that actually moved forward somewhere and it's the penultimate... Gen V was so much better that I just don't get this, because both must have been written around the same time. And to me doesn't really help this season is just too heavy with its political messaging that it actually became way too preachy, and I'm not even being made fun of most of the time... Almost everything that has happened up to this point was just for a shock value, disgust even more and actually straight up insult a half of paying audience, which is not cool. It used to be more balanced, nuanced and even thought provoking at times... In the previous episode Hughie was actually assaulted, but it's "funny" and "okay" when it happens only to men apparently, when the first episode of this whole show actually started with that? Only reversed... Like really? This hypocrisy really pissed me off, I know I'm not the only one and for once doesn't really matter what's your politics... Anyway, a fun reaction at least. I always enjoy your commentary, for the most part. 🙂
Please don't have an opinion on things if this is what you take from the show lmao Hughie was not assaulted. It was a consensual as Hughie was undercover as Webweaver and he did not know Webweaver's safe word. Once it turned non-consensual (Tek Knight finding out it's Hughie and wanting to cut him up) the tone very CLEARLY changed and it was not shown in a joking manner. Hughie also was shown very openly being shaken by it, so there's very obvious repercussions to what he experienced. Nowhere does that scene say it's "okay for men to be assaulted". You just want to look at it that way. You honestly sound like a rightwinger considering you're so offended so idk why you even watch this show that's very obviously liberal and always has been The reason this season is "more political" is because it's about politics. Victoria Neuman is trying to become President. Homelander is trying to use the political influence to get his way. You also have no idea what Sage's plan is, so you cannot yet have any opinion on it. It was genius of her to have A-Train feed misinformation to Butcher and the Boys. The whole plan to get Victoria into presidency was hers. Hughie was there to bug (hehe, literally) things (which he actually managed to do) and for information. Bs number 1 The show creator actually said himself, when asked about this, they thought it was "hilarious." Bs number 2, unless you didn't know he actually said that... You can find that for yourself, it's on the internet. I'm not "offended" that it happened, because I've come to expect this from this particular show (that I enjoyed, up to this season, very much), only by that hypocrisy (as I said) how it was treated in comparison to Starlight in the first episode of this entire show... What pisses me off is this double standard. If it wasn't obvious to you... Maybe not bs number 3, if you just misunderstood. You tell me... No, this show was always very liberal, you're right about that, but up to this season (even Gen V wasn't like this) it was more balanced, nuanced, subtle... However you wanna call it. Since the previous season it was pointing more left than right more obviously, but still not that heavy handed and pandery... It wasn't always this much political and preachy, but almost exlusively only pretty much one sided. Until this season happened... So you're right only about the fact that this season actually IS mostly about politics, but also mostly one sided, which wasn't always the case. It's really shi.ty. Especially because that's a half of your entire country and they're paying customers, too. Or did you really think this show was such a succes because only left wingers watched it? Not straight up bs, but kinda "gaslighty." Or maybe just, respectfully, kinda dumb... Again, you tell me. As for Sage, and the genius characters in general, there are actually rules you MUST follow if they should be actually believably portrayed as smarter than everybody else... You must be obviously very smart yourself. They always must be prepared for every possible contingency. They simply cannot be caught off guard (like at least twice in this episode and once in the previous one). They always must be a several steps ahead before anybody (unless there is someone even smarter). So no plot conveniences... Like in the previous one, when Sage was literally suprised (you can actually see that on her face) to see MM and Kimiko (caught off guard by them), when she should have predicted something like this might happen. Especially if she knew about A-Train to be a mole (who was actually also in there, so he could be obviously the one who'll tell them about this party, how to get inside, etc.)... And she also really couldn't predict with an absolute certainty that MM will try to (and succeed) shoot her in the head and not to the heart or to anywhere else... There's also the fact that MM (he said so himself) knew she isn't bulletproof (how) and didn't know her brain is gonna regenerate (how did he know about the first example, but not about this one). The plot convenience, but also a little nitpicky... He could have known about her being bulletproof because he's working for CIA, but it's still kinda questionable he didn't know about her brain for the same reason (maybe they knew about the first example, but not about the second). As I said, a little nitpicky, but details matter... Not necessarily bs, but there are rules how to write characters like Sage for a reason all the same. That's my point. And for me having opinions I know nothing about? This is honestly just dumb. How else did you think I've made my opinions without thinking about them? Opinions are always based on something... Obviously. It only depends based on what... If they're actually your own and how well you can actually reason with them and articulate them to make sense and without sounding stupid. So, on what exactly did you based yours before you wrote them to me? You obviously don't know me, my experiences and what I actually know (or don't) overall... I can obviously say the same thing about you. So, who's dumb here?? Maybe you should have actually asked me first why and how did I reach to my conclusions, before straight attacking me (without any provocation on my part) and basically calling me stupid just because you don't agree with me... It's either great acting and makeup, or MM is sick in real life. Everything about him seems off, even when he's just stood around. It reminds me of the later seasons of Vikings when King Ecbert is aging. Genuinely looked frail. Speaking of, I'd love it if you watched Vikings as one of the next series you do! It's fantastic.
He's tired of this life. He said it himself in this episode. He's not happy and the stress is affecting him even physically. The actor losing weight was a good choice to emphasize how depressed and constantly worried MM is.
@controlman7490 been reading up on an interview he did and it seems the weight loss is a personal life choice he's made just to be healthier, joking that he'd eaten too much pizza - which makes it funnier in episode 1 of the latest series that Kimiko tells him he's not eating enough. I'd wager the weight loss presented an opportunity for the show to really emphasise the stress the character is under. And it also shows how good his acting is that he's perfectly healthy yet passing off that tired and worn down demeanor. Guy really had me questioning his health 😂😭
Can’t lie, when Crazytown came on the radio, I started laughing so hard cause whoever allowed that in the show must of hated that band, and song more than me cause Shifty Shellshock JUST passed away!!! No FvCkz given in this show at times 😂🤷🏻♂️🤣
Overall I loved this episode. However I really was disappointed with the end result of the The Deep & Noir attack. What I mean is I really think The Deep's story has run it's course at this point & who is in the Noir costume doesn't really matter. The Black Noir mantle can be plug & play and no one would know any better even if it was a different person everyday. Therefore I felt both were expendable and they should have died in that scene. It would have raised the stakes and drew a new line in the sand. Aside from several minor characters that were basically 1 & done in their first episode appearance we haven't had a major Supe death in a while. There shouldn't have been any circumstance where The Boys would have allowed either to get away and report back to Homelander.
Why did they have to end this episode on such a downer they don’t have a weapon to kill Homelander and starlight is locked up somewhere and Kimiko almost died and finally Bucher is dead or in a coma

After seeing Homelander jump the gun and just laser Anika without getting all the info out of her when they thought she was the leak, you can't blame Sage one bit for not immediately telling him about A Train. Homelander is such a man child. He will never ever be able to pull off a multi layered plan like most villains because he is impatient and would rather just kill everyone in his way. You have to play the long game man!

Maybe she talked to Hughie about it? He probably told her when he was worried about Annie. Partners DO typically have a relationship with their significant others' parents.
When Annie quit Starlight, it was all the way at the end of season 3. Starlight haven't become a bad figure back then so she/her mom and Hughie still got a good relationship

A hallucination that isn't a product of your imagination, i think Becca was a 'real hallucination' so to speak, Joe Kessler is gaining control of Billy's brain and now that he's got more power over him he's speaking with Becca's avatar through Butcher's imagination/hallucination. Kessler is a parasite/symbiote that's hijacking his body like venom. I would not be surprised if we don't see Becca again until butcher is struggling to stop him from doing something very bad. She will probably be suppressed by Joe but in butcher's darkest moment, she'll appear again to rally his willpower

My issue with a supposedly genius character(s) is (and always was) they're only as smart as a person(s) who wrote them... I'm still waiting when Sage's "genius" finally shows up. She's supposed to be at least two steps ahead before everybody, yet she does stupid mistakes and lets herself to get caught off guard multiple times. Writing for this show just isn't what it used to be. This is the first episode that actually moved forward somewhere and it's the penultimate... Gen V was so much better that I just don't get this, because both must have been written around the same time. And to me doesn't really help this season is just too heavy with its political messaging that it actually became way too preachy, and I'm not even being made fun of most of the time... Almost everything that has happened up to this point was just for a shock value, disgust even more and actually straight up insult a half of paying audience, which is not cool. It used to be more balanced, nuanced and even thought provoking at times... In the previous episode Hughie was actually assaulted, but it's "funny" and "okay" when it happens only to men apparently, when the first episode of this whole show actually started with that? Only reversed... Like really? This hypocrisy really pissed me off, I know I'm not the only one and for once doesn't really matter what's your politics... Anyway, a fun reaction at least. I always enjoy your commentary, for the most part. 🙂

Hughie was not assaulted. It was a consensual as Hughie was undercover as Webweaver and he did not know Webweaver's safe word. Once it turned non-consensual (Tek Knight finding out it's Hughie and wanting to cut him up) the tone very CLEARLY changed and it was not shown in a joking manner. Hughie also was shown very openly being shaken by it, so there's very obvious repercussions to what he experienced. Nowhere does that scene say it's "okay for men to be assaulted". You just want to look at it that way.

The reason this season is "more political" is because it's about politics. Victoria Neuman is trying to become President. Homelander is trying to use the political influence to get his way.
You also have no idea what Sage's plan is, so you cannot yet have any opinion on it. It was genius of her to have A-Train feed misinformation to Butcher and the Boys. The whole plan to get Victoria into presidency was hers.

No, this show was always very liberal, you're right about that, but up to this season (even Gen V wasn't like this) it was more balanced, nuanced, subtle... However you wanna call it. Basically treating every conservative as a backwards moron and an enemy just for different beliefs and way of thinking... I personally tend to think of them still as people and even friends... That's how inclusive and tolerant (in other words, liberal) I really am... And it might actually suprise you, they treat me how I treat them... So, no. It wasn't always this much political and preachy, but almost exlusively only pretty much one sided. Until this season happened... So you're right only about the fact that this season actually IS mostly about politics, but also mostly one sided, which wasn't always the case. It's really shi.ty. Especially because that's a half of your entire country and they're paying customers, too. Or did you really think this show was such a succes because only left wingers watched it? Not straight up bs, but kinda "gaslighty." Or maybe just, respectfully, kinda dumb... Again, you tell me.
As for Sage, and the genius characters in general, there are actually rules you MUST follow if they should be actually believably portrayed as smarter than everybody else... You must be obviously very smart yourself. They always must be prepared for every possible contingency. They simply cannot be caught off guard (like at least twice in this episode and once in the previous one). They always must be a several steps ahead before anybody (unless there is someone even smarter). So no plot conveniences... Like in the previous one, when Sage was literally suprised (you can actually see that on her face) to see MM and Kimiko (caught off guard by them), when she should have predicted something like this might happen. Especially if she knew about A-Train to be a mole (who was actually also in there, so he could be obviously the one who'll tell them about this party, how to get inside, etc.)... And she also really couldn't predict with an absolute certainty that MM will try to (and succeed) shoot her in the head and not to the heart or to anywhere else... There's also the fact that MM (he said so himself) knew she isn't bulletproof (how) and didn't know her brain is gonna regenerate (how did he know about the first example, but not about this one). The plot convenience, but also a little nitpicky... He could have known about her being bulletproof because he's working for CIA, but it's still kinda questionable he didn't know about her brain for the same reason (maybe they knew about the first example, but not about the second). As I said, a little nitpicky, but details matter... Not necessarily bs, but there are rules how to write characters like Sage for a reason all the same. That's my point.
And for me having opinions I know nothing about? This is honestly just dumb. How else did you think I've made my opinions without thinking about them? Opinions are always based on something... Obviously. It only depends based on what... If they're actually your own and how well you can actually reason with them and articulate them to make sense and without sounding stupid. So, on what exactly did you based yours before you wrote them to me? You obviously don't know me, my experiences and what I actually know (or don't) overall... I can obviously say the same thing about you. So, who's dumb here?? Maybe you should have actually asked me first why and how did I reach to my conclusions, before straight attacking me (without any provocation on my part) and basically calling me stupid just because you don't agree with me... Would you call this a smart thing to do if, and when, you actually don't know someone at all? Again, you tell me...

It's either great acting and makeup, or MM is sick in real life. Everything about him seems off, even when he's just stood around. It reminds me of the later seasons of Vikings when King Ecbert is aging. Genuinely looked frail.

He's tired of this life. He said it himself in this episode. He's not happy and the stress is affecting him even physically. The actor losing weight was a good choice to emphasize how depressed and constantly worried MM is.
@controlman7490 been reading up on an interview he did and it seems the weight loss is a personal life choice he's made just to be healthier, joking that he'd eaten too much pizza - which makes it funnier in episode 1 of the latest series that Kimiko tells him he's not eating enough. I'd wager the weight loss presented an opportunity for the show to really emphasise the stress the character is under. And it also shows how good his acting is that he's perfectly healthy yet passing off that tired and worn down demeanor. Guy really had me questioning his health 😂😭

Overall I loved this episode. However I really was disappointed with the end result of the The Deep & Noir attack. What I mean is I really think The Deep's story has run it's course at this point & who is in the Noir costume doesn't really matter. The Black Noir mantle can be plug & play and no one would know any better even if it was a different person everyday. Therefore I felt both were expendable and they should have died in that scene.
It would have raised the stakes and drew a new line in the sand. Aside from several minor characters that were basically 1 & done in their first episode appearance we haven't had a major Supe death in a while. There shouldn't have been any circumstance where The Boys would have allowed either to get away and report back to Homelander.
