Hey everybody, Ryan here at Etrailer. Today we're gonna be checking out the Demco Air Force One supplemental braking system, which is designed to work with Tiffin Motor Homes. Whenever it comes to setting up a flat tow, you're gonna need several components: your base plate, your tow bar, your safety cables, your tow bar wiring, and a supplemental braking system. And right away you're probably wondering, is this kit gonna work with my Tiffin motor home And it really just depends. If your motor home is a 2020 or newer, chances are really good. This is gonna be the kit for you.
And a real quick way to figure out if your motor home is equipped from the factory with the motor home side Air Force One parts is pretty simple. If you see a fitting like this here on the back of your coach, then chances are really good it's already set up and this kit is gonna be compatible with you. What the braking system is actually going to do is apply the brakes in your vehicle whenever you hit the brakes in your motor home, and that way it's gonna help bring you to a more predictable and safe stop. And not to mention too, pretty much the majority of these states are gonna require something like this by law. So this will keep you safe and legal.
And you know, like we talked about, if your motor home's equipped with these parts already from the factory, that says a lot. You know, if a manufacturer like Tiffin has faith in Demco's products and and puts some on their coaches right from the factory, it's really a no-brainer not to use or really a no-brainer to use this kit. You know, if the manufacturer has faith in 'em and so should we. And honestly we do a ton of Air Force One's here and other Demco braking systems at that, and by far they're my favorite. Extremely reliable.
Rarely do we run into any issues with them and they're super easy to use and set up including this one. Once the parts are all installed on your vehicle side, literally there's just two steps that you're going to need to do to get everything paired together. One of 'em is take your air hose, plug that into the back of the coach, and then you're gonna have this orange tether here. Loop that around the safety chain opening on your motor home's hitch. And these will come to the front of your vehicle.
On the vehicle side, the kit's gonna come with the fitting that you need to plug the other end of the air line into it. And then you put your tether on the breakaway switch cable here. And that's really all there is to it. And I guess since we're right here, I'll, you know, talking about the breakaway switch. What this is, this is a safety device and in the event of an unlikely disconnect, this pen would get pulled out of the switch and applying the brakes in your vehicle, helping to get everything back under control. If your motor home does not come equipped right from the factory with the Air Force One side already installed, not to worry. One of the great things about Demco and their braking systems, they have a lot of different packages. If you don't have this equipment already, you can pick up the full kit, the complete kit, it'll come with the vehicle side, as well as the parts that you need to install on the motor home. Or even if you have a different chassis. Let's say a Spartan chassis or something like that, for example, chances are really good there's a kit that'll work with that because some of the other manufacturers are also doing the same thing, having these parts already installed. One of the nice things about the Air Force One is the fact that it is completely proportional. Meaning, however hard you hit the brakes in the coach, that's how hard the brakes and your towed vehicle are gonna be applied as well. So essentially you're stopping as one whole cohesive unit. You know, the vehicle's not trying to drag you back or you know, you're not relying on the motor home to do the majority of the braking. So to give you an example of that, let's say if you're rolling up to a stop sign and you know, your foot's halfway on the brake, your vehicle's going to do the same thing. But on the other hand, if you're going down the highway and maybe there's an accident or something up ahead and you have to come to a stop quickly, really stand on that brake pedal, the vehicle's gonna match that pressure. And so overall it just makes for a much more comfortable and predictable braking experience. This particular kit is also gonna come with this wireless coach link monitor, which I really like. It stays up in the coach, you
