@@bobbypukes605 A brilliant system to record of the radio, especially because of it's very precise editting options where you could easily cut out all commercials and DJ clatter. In those times not everyone had broadband or the means to store huge mp3's of livesets.
@notsorandumusername Really? I didn't even know that. I just remember buying a mini disc and mini discs for a while, until it just suddenly pooped out and people were then mostly downloading and stuff
@@bobbypukes605 I've used it for years around the millennium and over the last two or so years started using them again for fun. But is was never a format for the masses sadly, first because of the competition from DCC (digital cassette), then from CD-R and it was Napster and the downloading of mp3's that killed any chance that MD had. But it dit have it's fair share of loyal fans though and from it's inception in 1992 was supported and updated by Sony until 2012. Twenty years - that's actually really impressive for a digital format. It still works very nice and there is some wonderful retro-futurism about it. If only Philips never went with DCC and had teamed up with Sony and their MD system, things would have worked out very different indeed.
Excellent video, that mix of music and seeing the trip filled me with nostalgia and made me shed a few tears, blessings and greetings from Torreon Mexico
The good old days of Pete Tong's Essential mix, with the likes of Paul Oakenfold who for me was as good as it could get for mixes that really were like a story being told with music. The Goa mix will always be the one mix that defined Paul but all of his live mixes where class. Pete Tong was not to shabby either.
Thank you for posting! What a terrific set. I feel lucky to have seen Oakenfold live in San Diego around this time. This road gives me many great memories as well. Every year I fly in to Ontario from Denver and drive out to Joshua Tree National Park while listening to music like this. I love seeing Morongo Casino and the windmills, that means I am getting closer to my favorite place.
Would ve been awesome to put some 2000's footage on the background. Like those kind of highschool cam corder moments or some American Pie footage. I think those were the days of innocence for me. Also the days when i started to lose my innocence.
Mixes that i did'n listined was felt... are so cool. Thank for all this great goood sounds. I listebed in 202?. Thans for all good feels and sound. Have a good life .
I probably shouldn't drive and listen to Paul's music because i feel like I just dropped a acid trip,,I only drink n ìm sitting in my garage watching everything started moving around sorry Paul but im glad im not driving right now dang your music is awesome but scary too because i haven't taken acid since I was a kid n I feel like I'm on a blotter very relaxing as well 😊
Great upload. I have to say though - you do have control over where the ads go... It's under the monitisation settings. I'm happy to watch through ads to make sure you get the ad revenue - but if you're not just saying this, and truly didn't know - then make sure to uncheck the box that has "During" the video when it comes to monitisation.

I often seem to notice errors in Oakenfold's beat mixing. Sometimes he's way off. Was he really that mashed each time he did a set? Saying that, he knew his tunes. Mashed or not, most of the battle is knowing what tunes to drop.
Not sure being mashed had anything to do with it. He was pretty straight back then when he was at the peak of his powers. He was never good at mixing. It was his selections, programming and popularising trance that set him apart.
I don't think so....because (a) he's been driving this car for a few years now, probably before Model 3 was available (b) I've seen him pull out of gas stations in several other videos and (c) he does some long drives, probably more than the range of a Tesla. Not sure what he drives.
Here we go again , Paul Oakenfold , Essential Mix around the turn of the Millenium. Can't be beat
This mix was done a day after my 18th birthday. I'm sure you all find that absolutley fascinating. Cool mix.
I remember recording this live off the radio onto MiniDisc back in 2000 when I was 14. Good times!!
Haha, mini disc lol 😆

Almost positive he’s got no ability to control the ads. This video is likely not even monetized because of all the third party copyrighted content

Nope. The hood is different shape than at Tesla. It could be Porsche 911.
