Gretzky coming here was big, but hockey isn't a popular sport compared to baseball. Shaq coming here was huge if you were a basketball fan, but it was the Shaq-Kobe combination that made he and Kobe stand out. Ohtani being a two-way player at a high level has earned the respect of his peers and baseball fans on a Global level.
Not really. It’s Southern California, but not really LA in that the Dodgers have the heart of the city when it comes to baseball. The angels are mostly an afterthought.
He doesn't like big cities like LA you guys don't understand he's not American he doesn't like to be the focus of everybody's attention.. la is out or it would be done by now..sorry some team has got in the way and just because a MLB experts say he's going to LA doesn't mean anything
1) JD Martinez is gone, 2) Dodgers new international media exec. starts signing ad and tv contracts, 3) Season seats get scarce, 4) All the sports talking heads that speculated other teams say, "I knew he was going to LA"., 5) Crime goes down or up in LA, depending on how you like to celebrate.
Ohtani comes to the Dodgers. I still think the Braves are the still the best in MLB. We have no SS very iffy at 3b, RF and CF. Bullpen is hit and miss. Unless 3 fielders and an always injured pitching staff is your idea of a team that can win it all then guess Ohtani is the key. To me Ohtani would be a great addition but there are many holes to fill to be a team that’s unquestionably a favorite to win consistently. With Betts, Freeman, and young Bobby Miller and Will Smith that’s a great start but after that I don’t see anything that tells me they are in anyway a favorite to go all the way. But if you’re paying as much as $500m on one player it’ll be interesting to see what’s left to spend on the rest of the squad. We’ll see I guess.

Wayne Gretzky going to La was huge.
Shaq to the Lakers was kind of a big deal.
and Kareem coming to the Lakers in a trade
This is social media era though.
Lebron to lakers
Even then he wasn’t as big as Ohtani. This dude is global on a whole other level.
@@pandemic7 Shaq is bigger than ohtani outside of Japan bro.
Baseball doesn't mean shit this is not the biggest move LA has ever had
Shaq to the Lakers... go watch ESPN 30 for 30 This Magic Moment.
But hasn’t Ohtani been playing in LA the past 6 seasons already?

@@pandemic7fool the angels aren’t even in Los Angeles. They’re in Anaheim, they changed their name for marketing purposes.

As a cubs fan i hope he does go to LA, let them pay that contract.
It’s great when you guys actually talk sports. All the other crap, like Taylor Swift, Fact or Cap, listening to Emily…is truly awful.

Even at 500m+ Ohtani contract will be pedestrian in about 6 years. Soto next contract might be more than that.
