I was out at the Stumps same time. I was permanent personal NCO at MCCES, CSSD 13 what turned into 1st FSSG Forward. Did too many CAX to count. Good old Bandini Lake runs and sweltering beers at the camp Wilson PX. Lol.
This is awesome, I was a 2531 89-93. It's very important to learn basic radio communications, Antennas and maintenance. Those knowledge that I learned and applied in practical uses gave me the push thru becoming a RF and Test Engineer.
@@cwulfe1 In the Corp we were held in the stone age it seems back then! I was back in garrison one time at Las Pulgas on Camp Pendleton and this guy stuck his head in and said he had been in Comm in the Army and had joined the Corps and switched over to Motor T. He looked around and said he had never seen anything that we were using and got a weird look on his face and left. :)
use / make , just for fun / perspective angles , them old style 'communicators' where it a shaped bit of wood on the end of some rope and you spin it around at speed in it makes a vibration in the air that can be heard ages away . Bullroarers .

I was there in the winter of '75; there wasn't much there and only one flashing 4 - way stop light in the town.
I figured Comm had changed quite a bit since my time of PRC 77's and PRC1077's along with 292 Ant. back in the mid to late 80's.
