Thanks so much Bob! This was honestly a video that I had a lot of fun making as I filmed clips and tracked things very closely throughout the week - so definitely making more of these videos in the future Thanks for the gold star shoutout to Jackie as well!
Haha I was a bit shocked that the total came out to $2,500 - but also this was a week with spend that ended up being a bit artificially higher because there was a lot of business spend and one-time expenses. But that's the fun part with videos like this because I can easily look at things that I maybe could have been better with - and I definitely wanna make more videos like this regularly to then track things more over time
Daniel, thank you for the transparency and day to day breakdown! The details were excellent and it allowed everyone to see how to truly use the cards as intended for maximum value! Great video as always!
⭐Awesome breakdown, always great to see others' lifestyles and use of cards! Totally agree with the gym and fitness. If you can afford to do so, if spending more on a "nicer" gym or fitness activities is what gets you enjoying and dedicated to it, that's 1000% worth it! Can't really put a price tag on health & fitness
Thanks Kevin! Yeah this was a fun video to make so I wanna do more of these in the future. The nicer gym has been very much worth it for the amount of use it gets! That's become one of my rules around money - no limit on health/fitness spending that we want to do
🌟no judgement on your spending habits...i would b shocked that u lived beyond your means and created all of these video on finance!😅 It did make my head spin seeing all the different cards you used for all the different multipliers and benefits😮 im taking it easy as i build into my points/miles journey. Im following the KISS principle of keeping it simple...and using a spreadsheet! Shout out to Sebby and Mandy...luv those guys❤
Yeah obviously this was only expenses and didn't go over income which gives the full picture. Plus a good portion of the spend from this week was business spend, but still wanted to include everything here. Haha yeah the many cards that I use just comes naturally at this point since I love the hobby of it all and I talk about it for a living as well! But I like that KISS method for most things related to personal finance honestly. Sebby and Mandy are great! Had a fun time chatting and hanging out with some fellow creators that week
Thank you, glad you liked it! This was definitely a fun one to make so I'm planning to make more like this in the future. And thanks for the gold star shoutout to Jackie!
Fantastic video-thanks for sharing such valuable insights! Your spreadsheets are incredibly helpful! It would be amazing to see a breakdown of the spending amounts and points earned per card, including the percentage breakdowns, for easier comparison. Maybe you could include this in your next newsletter or in the video description? It would add even more clarity for viewers.
Thanks for watching! Yeah that's honestly a great idea! The next time I do a video like this, I'll track the numbers like this in the video and then get into even more detail in a newsletter that week
First off I want to give Jackie her gold 🌟 for being acceptable to your needs. But I wish I could have a weekly spend of $2500. Heck, I need to get right. Thanks for the transparency!
Thanks so much America! Definitely need to check out your content as well (I'm using VidIQ as I see this comment haha) Lol yeah Jackie has been amazing with giving up peanut butter, so thanks for the gold star shoutout to her!!
Thank you so much for continuing to watch - that's always what's most important vs commenting haha. Glad you liked it! And thanks about Cody - we love him and he's a great dog!
Great video! I loved the breakdown you shared of your spending across your cards. Thank you for sharing this with us! It’s crazy that you’re getting charged a fee if you want to pay for your cell on a credit card.😢 I have AT&T and use credit cards since 2019 to pay with no fee. Been using the Ink Cash to get 5% back for the last year with no fee. I am curious if you ever considered getting the Blue Cash Preferred? With your streaming set up and groceries you’d probably get a lot of cash back. I get between $50 to $60 a month back on that card. Sometimes more since Apple apps and in app purchases also code as “streaming” and also give 6% back. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for watching, glad you liked this one! And yeah it's kind of annoying that Verizon charges the fee on internet. For the Verizon cell phone, they just give a slight cash discount - but the Amex Business Platinum credit + the cell phone protection I get on that card makes it worth it to at least put my iPhone bill on my credit card And the Amex Blue Cash Preferred can be a great card for cash back! I'm more into the points and miles stuff for travel right now vs cash back - so with groceries earning 4x amex points usually becomes more like 8% back in value when redeemed for travel which beats the 6% on the BCP. But it's different for everyone, so honestly I do like what the BCP and BCE offer for cash back cards!
Lifetime Fitness is amazing. Sadly, like everything it seems like they’ve increased the prices and reduced what you get. Like it’s harder to get multi-club access for a acceptable cost. For pets, I have a Banfield Wellness Plan. It’s a set price per month and I get unlimited visits to see the vet, discounted tests and meds, and dental cleaning and annual blood/urine testing. It has been great knowing our dog gets the care they need without an emergency causing a hiccup in the budget.
Yeah I've been going to LifeTime for a little over a year now and I love it compared to my last gym! I'm sure it's changed over time, but so far I definitely think it's worth it. Thanks for the recommendation on the per insurance stuff! I was hoping to get some good info by mentioning that here in this video, so I'm definitely going to look into any of the suggestions here in the comments. Appreciate it!
Hey Dan, interested to hear your thoughts on airline status. Platinum Pro seems like it’s no easy task. Did it take a tactical effort on your part to obtain it? Keep pumping out great content man!
So funny enough this Platinum Pro status was a 4 month "trial" that I got an email about (I think because I'm Hyatt Globalist and Hyatt/American have some partnerships). I've never been someone that's tried super hard to get/maintain airline status, but now this has me thinking about finding ways to get back to this status in the future. I'll definitely share more here on the channel as I do that!
I have pet insurance. It is 100% worth it if you ever have to go to an emergency vet. For regular vets it depends on how your vet bills. I have had one vet that added an extra $100 charge to every visit (it is the change that comes with a vet that is open nights and weekends) and it didn't count towards the deductible because of how it was coded. With our new vet it has been working pretty well.
Good to know - yeah I'm definitely going to get pet insurance and just looking at options now. I've heard that certain things are covered or not covered depending on how the vet bills, so I'm sure I'll try things out and see how it works
@Daniel_Braun we have been use Spot for our insurance and so far had a good experience with them both with submitting claims and calling customer service. Pet insurance doesn't cover as much as human insurance, but it comes in handy when it does kick in.
Great content again! About the pet insurance, my wife and I, we have a dog (2yo) and two cats (3yo and 1yo), and none of them have pet insurance. We think pet insurance is just not worth the money when the pets are that young. They don't have any health issues at all so far. One stomach issue for our dog in the past 2 years. Puppy is a little bit tough say, but when Vespa (our dog) was a puppy she did not have insurance as well. We only go to the vet for vaccinations and spay/neuter which are not really covered by the insurance without a sky high premium. ⭐
Thanks for watching, glad you liked it! Very good to know about your view on the pet insurance, thanks so much for sharing! Yeah my wife and I are looking into it right now, so it's been good to hear some comments like this as we consider it. We just got our dog a little over a month ago and he's still only 9 months old. We're exploring options, pricing, and seeing what's even covered so thanks for the comment!
Pet insurance is ALWAYS worth it. A major surgery could cost you thousands, and the wellness coverage gives you license to do more preventative care. Highly recommend everyone get pet insurance.
😂 I hear you! Funny enough I don't think I've had a Celsius since the week I filmed this video 2 weeks ago. I'm mostly a 1 cup of black coffee guy in the mornings, but just needed some extra caffeine for a few select times this week specifically lol
Thanks Jesse! I actually didn't even get to include "Jackie only" spending here, so she does use that card occasionally as well if we just need a good catch all option. But the focus for us lately has also been earning back more Chase/Bilt points for Hyatt transfers, so we've been leaning more towards the CFU for that recently. I'll gladly take 1.5x vs 2x because we've pretty consistently been getting 2-3 CPP+ on some Hyatt stays. I still wish Chase would make CFU 2x on everything though, but that's just me being hopeful
I really feel like exit rows should be a discounted upgrade if you’re over 6’. Like if it’s usually a $100 upgrade it should be like $50 for tall peoppe
Haha yeah Jackie deserves a ton of credit for giving that up (along with nut butters, Nutella, etc.). I don't know any different myself because of my allergies, so sunbutter is good to have at least
Yeah I'm getting more selective at the moment as well because I've spent the past 6 years or so building up to the 22 cards I have right now. Thanks for watching!
Daniel I know you've made some videos about investing via 401k and brokerage but I'd enjoy a video about specifics. Are you all in index funds and etf's or do you own any individual stocks? Might be a interesting vid.
Definitely going to cover some of that stuff in my own personal finances in a future video! I'm currently mostly invested in index funds and have been automating investing into that. Would love to start getting back into some individual stocks here and there but don't have too many at the moment just due to lack of time to put into research But yeah definitely going to cover my strategy very soon on that stuff!
Do you always use the Discover IT card for cash back in the rotating categories? Wouldn’t you get more value out of putting those charges on a chase unlimited card to get chase points?
Thanks for watching! So I just booked the return flight with 11,000 American Airlines miles that I already had in my account. I have taken advantage of the 35% points rebate feature on my Amex Business Platinum card though which I love having for when I fly first/business or any class on American Airlines (my selected airline for that benefit)
Need a recommendation on my next credit card. I have the amex gold, bilt master card, and citi double cash. Should I go with the citi custom, citi strata as I don't have a travel credit card yet, or amex platinum?
Personally I think it's best to pick up the Chase Trifecta cards first if you don't have them yet - just because there's a ton of value from the sign up bonuses alone with low annual fees. Then I'd say to look at Capital One if those interest you (Savor and Venture/Venture X). If those don't interest you then yeah Citi Strata Premier and Custom Cash are great options as well. I went over the optimal order to get credit cards in this video that explains more: ua-cam.com/video/8k8FdXGjtWY/v-deo.html
Please please please get pet insurance. I have a cat and I didn't have pet insurance. I figured he's an indoor cat, he's not going to get hurt or sick. Plus I grew up with cats and never had an issue. Well... My cat decided to get a herniated disc. With the multiple vet visits and tests and scans to diagnose him, and then the surgery to repair the disc, it put me about 15k in the hole. Luckily I had an emergency fund. You can customize most insurances. You can choose your deductible, how much the insurance covers (70-90%), preventive care, etc. For a 14 year old cat with a 1k deductible and 90% coverage, I pay a little over $100/month.
Oh man that's sounds awful for the cat and for your wallet! Definitely hurts the emergency fund when there's an event like that, but good thing you had the right savings in place to get through it. Good to know about the pet insurance stuff, thanks for sharing! What insurance provider do you use for that? I'm going to be looking into some
I got embrace. I haven't had to use it yet, so can't speak to its efficacy, but it had good reviews Spot also had good reviews, but was a bit pricier than embrace.
I know a lot of this is businesses expenses and you're going to write them off but i do feel you spend a lot of money bro. Such as having way too many subscriptions and spending a lot of money on celsius. You could easily save a couple of hundred dollars if you remove some subscritpions and drink coffee at home instead of clesius. Other than that great video bro. Thank you
@MeganW_88 he just made a video like 1 or 2 weeks ago about the same going on a business trip where he spent around the same so I think it's becoming more consistent. Like I said I know it's business so he writes it off but I meant that he can cut off on a couple of tv subscriptions and buying clesius and he'll save a couple hundred dollars a month.
Thanks for watching! Yeah admittedly the overall total spending number seems high at first for this week - but there was a lot of business spending and "one-time" expenses built into that as well. The next video I'd like to make it budgeting for an entire month to look at the full financial picture of income vs expenses, as well as savings and investing. But @fernyferny5547 I actually didn't make a video like this 1 or 2 weeks ago, so maybe you're thinking of another creator? For everything else like the subscriptions and Celsius, they're very minor expenses and it all fits very well into our budget vs our income. Could easily remove those if needed, but not a concern at all right now. I'll probably do some sort of "financial housekeeping" in the near future though because I would like to get the spending down a bit to optimize things even further! Thanks again for watching though, always good to hear feedback because yeah the spending was sort of artificially higher this week haha
@daniel_Braun hey Daniel yea sorry man it must've been another creator or an older video of yours I can't recall lol. But I get you bro it was an abnormal week especially with your pet getting sick and yea maybe for you, yea you can afford all of that and I'm glad you can. For me tho I can only afford one tv subscription which is netflix ($7 a month) and I save so much money with just drinking coffee from home lol. I used to spend $5 almost daily buying from Starbucks. Great video bro
So the AA status was actually a "trial" status that I got I think because I'm Hyatt Globalist and Hyatt/American partner on some things. Unfortunately it'll be going away for me next month, but I'm going to try going for some American status in the future now that I've been able to try this! And I don't have any Delta status because I usually don't fly Delta too much - just happened to be flying into Atlanta so Delta made the most sense on the way there
Haha agreed! Maybe they'll see this and send some to me. Honestly I don't drink them usually this much, but only when I need the extra caffeine like I did during this week in this video 😂
Do you ever feel that the interest rate out weigh the points? After the promotions whats the point of keeping it? (Aside from from getting a higher credit score)
The interest rate shouldn’t matter because rule number 1 with credit cards is to never carry a balance past the due date. Paying off in full by then every month will avoid interest entirely If you’re paying interest then yes that will outweigh the points earned
So Jackie has the Venture X in our 2 player strategy and she uses the occasionally as well as a catch all card. I only covered my spending here, and spending that I do for the both of us - but she'll still use the Venture X for certain things. However, lately we've both been leaning more towards using the Chase Freedom Unlimited as our catch all card to refresh out balance of Chase points because we love transferring to Hyatt with Chase. So in many scenarios, I'm fine with earning 1.5X on the CFU vs 2X on the VX (even though I'm hoping that Chase will eventually bump up the CFU to 2X as well in the future to be more competitive)
Honestly it just comes naturally to me at this point because I'm deep into the credit card game over the past 6 years haha. So I just know which card to use in different scenarios. It's not always perfect, but I love optimizing things as I've built out this setup
🌟⭐️✨ You guys are a lovely couple! Also your videos have made me officially begin to start since beginning of this year guard my 5/24 rule instead of getting new cards with subs. Me and my fiancée also plan on getting a job at Amazon which will increase our income by 2.2x easily combined!
Oh yeah 100% agree! It's been a game changer switching over to LifeTime from my previous gym. Such a nice place to go to and they've got everything I need
Yeah this week ended up being more than normal, so it was a good exercise for me to go through and track this in detail as I made this video. A good portion of the spending was for the business as well though, and I'm also not going to a conference or flying every week, so the average weekly cost here was definitely above average. Maybe I'll track my spending over a month next to get more accurate numbers over a longer time period. Thanks for watching though!
This is more of a personal question my man but with the amount of flying you do, I’m assuming turbulence does not phase you? 💀 As much as I’m into the travel game and have used points for travel, I can never shake off that turbulence feeling on a plane
Yeah I know that turbulence can be tough for some people to get past mentally when flying. It's never bothered me personally, but I've also never really experienced any truly bad turbulence. For me as a numbers guy, I always take comfort in knowing that flying is statistically way safer than driving. I'm more nervous when driving honestly because of worrying about other drivers making mistakes on the road
Jesus Christ brother get pet insurance. It’s saved me and my wife tens of thousands of dollars. You never want to need it, just like normal health or car insurance, but you need it
Yeah very much agree with you on insurance! We got the dog just over a month ago, so we're in the process of exploring pet insurance for him now. Any recommendations of which insurance company to check out?
We have used PetsBest. They’ve been incredible. You pay up front and they reimburse. Never a single claims issue, and man we’ve had more than we could have imagined with our poor little dude, but they’ve been fantastic. Very quick to approve claims, and when more info is needed they’ve contacted us and our vet very quickly to get it all resolved
For some people it's too much, for others it makes sense. Always important to see what fits best into your own life, and so if using just the CFU for everything is what works best then that's great! 👍
Yeah very much looking into this because other people recommending this too. We've had him for a little over a month so we're exploring different options 👍
Mad respect to you for having the balls to use actual spend and sharing something so incredibly personal. ⭐️
Agreed. Wouldn’t mind seeing one of these types of videos again
Thanks so much Bob! This was honestly a video that I had a lot of fun making as I filmed clips and tracked things very closely throughout the week - so definitely making more of these videos in the future
Thanks for the gold star shoutout to Jackie as well!
If I spent over $2500 a week I would be broke by week 2 because I only make $3400 a month
High end credit cards like Amex platinum are for high earners .
Haha I was a bit shocked that the total came out to $2,500 - but also this was a week with spend that ended up being a bit artificially higher because there was a lot of business spend and one-time expenses.
But that's the fun part with videos like this because I can easily look at things that I maybe could have been better with - and I definitely wanna make more videos like this regularly to then track things more over time
Bros not even sponsored by Celsius. Just downs two cans for the love of the caffeine game.
I really should have messaged them for a sponsorship prior to this video 😂
Maybe they would have at least sent me some free product!
I luv Monster Watermelon. Haven't tried Celcius yet.@@Daniel_Braun
After talking to some coworkers I realized how rare it is to budget regularly. Big thanks to u for your template Daniel!
Yeah I agree, most people that I talk to don't really budget either but I think it's important to do it. Thanks Jake, appreciate it man!
Daniel, thank you for the transparency and day to day breakdown! The details were excellent and it allowed everyone to see how to truly use the cards as intended for maximum value! Great video as always!
I watch a few too many CC you tube videos. This is a novel presentation. Thanks for dropping it.
Thanks Rohit! Yeah I had a lot of fun making this and tracking my spending, so I'm probably going to make more of these videos in the future 👍
⭐Awesome breakdown, always great to see others' lifestyles and use of cards! Totally agree with the gym and fitness. Fantastic video-thanks for sharing such valuable insights! Your spreadsheets are incredibly helpful! Thanks for watching! Yeah that's honestly a great idea! The next time I do a video like this, I'll track the numbers like this in the video and then get into even more detail in a newsletter that week
Who decides to pay for lunch when you all are probably credit card content creators? 😜 lots of C’s
Hahaha yeah we all would easily love to pay to grab the points for something like that!
Daniel, u enjoy life to the max, congrats !
Always trying to live life to the fullest! Thanks for watching!
Definitely pet insurance is worth it. We use Fetch. Especially when they’re puppies they can get sick more often
Good to know about Fetch! I'll definitely look into that one as we explore some pet insurance options. Thanks for watching and commenting about that!
Your on top of your game! Dave Ramsy would be proud.
lol I think he would have a heart attack when he sees all the cards🤣
@@GideonR-r7she is so ANTI
I'm sure he'd be proud of how I track my spending, but disappointed in the credit card use 😂

Love the video! Haven't commented in a long time, but I still watch your videos pretty frequently. Also, Cody's really cute. :)

Daniel, please be careful with your heart with all the Celsius! Don’t need the best personal finance man on UA-cam getting A-Fib by 35!
😂 I hear you! Funny enough I don't think I've had a Celsius since the week I filmed this video 2 weeks ago. I'm mostly a 1 cup of black coffee guy in the mornings, but just needed some extra caffeine for a few select times this week specifically lol
I've been using ASPCA's pet insurance and have loved using it for my two dogs!

Great video Daniel! I’m curious as to why you don’t put spend on Jackie’s venture X and instead use your CFU? Does her venture X get much use? Thanks!

@Daniel_Braun I got my 15 in just the past 2 years. So I think I need to slow down lol. 2 years ago I didn't even have a credit score
Would love to start getting back into some individual stocks here and there but don't have too many at the moment just due to lack of time to put into research
But yeah definitely going to cover my strategy very soon on that stuff!
🌟Jackie (or Jacky)!
She gave up peanut butter for you, not for sun butter lol.
Do you always use the Discover IT card for cash back in the rotating categories? Wouldn’t you get more value out of putting those charges on a chase unlimited card to get chase points?
Hey nice video..... did use the portal for your return flight making you eligible for 35% off or back?
Thanks for watching! So I just booked the return flight with 11,000 American Airlines miles that I already had in my account. I have taken advantage of the 35% points rebate feature on my Amex Business Platinum card though which I love having for when I fly first/business or any class on American Airlines (my selected airline for that benefit)
@@Daniel_Braun ohhh okay i was confused you used the card for your fees not the flight thanks for responding...
Let’s go birds!🦅🦅
Got fetch pet insurance. Great and easy to use for my dog
I’ve seen pets best being the best option. Why’d you go with Fetch?
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely look into that one 👍
If Pennstate didn't have their starters sit, we would've won against Ole Miss. Maybe im just coping.
I haven't had to use it yet, so can't speak to its efficacy, but it had good reviews
Spot also had good reviews, but was a bit pricier than embrace.
Good to know, thanks! I’ll check those out
I know a lot of this is businesses expenses and you're going to write them off but i do feel you spend a lot of money bro. Such as having way too many subscriptions and spending a lot of money on celsius. You could easily save a couple of hundred dollars if you remove some subscritpions and drink coffee at home instead of clesius. Other than that great video bro. Thank you
They make good money. So it makes sense they spend more overall to enjoy life.
The thing is that this was an abnormal week. He had to go out of town.
Great video bro
how long does it take you to pay your bills each month?
Daniel, show us how you got AA Platinum and Delta Status, thanks
So the AA status was actually a "trial" status that I got I think because I'm Hyatt Globalist and Hyatt/American partner on some things. Unfortunately it'll be going away for me next month, but I'm going to try going for some American status in the future now that I've been able to try this!
And I don't have any Delta status because I usually don't fly Delta too much - just happened to be flying into Atlanta so Delta made the most sense on the way there
@Daniel_Braun thanks for the response Daniel, I really appreciate it, so did you get the Globalist through AA?
You should be sponsored by Celsius 😊
Haha agreed! Maybe they'll see this and send some to me. Honestly I don't drink them usually this much, but only when I need the extra caffeine like I did during this week in this video 😂
wow amazing
Do you ever feel that the interest rate out weigh the points? After the promotions whats the point of keeping it? (Aside from from getting a higher credit score)
The interest rate shouldn’t matter because rule number 1 with credit cards is to never carry a balance past the due date. Paying off in full by then every month will avoid interest entirely
If you’re paying interest then yes that will outweigh the points earned
@ thanks for the info 👍
Have you pulled the Capital One cards from the rotation?
You didn't say where you got your AA miles from. Previous Bilt transfer? Citi AA card?
Had them from earning AA miles with American + a welcome offer on a Citi AA card last year. I have 100,000 or so miles there right now

First comment as always! 🥇
And thanks for the gold star emoji shoutout to Jackie!
How can you remember or know which card to use to get the best reward
Honestly it just comes naturally to me at this point because I'm deep into the credit card game over the past 6 years haha. So I just know which card to use in different scenarios. It's not always perfect, but I love optimizing things as I've built out this setup
@Daniel_Braun 👍
Once you go to a Life Time Fitness, it’s hard to settle for anything less 💪🏽
Oh yeah 100% agree! It's been a game changer switching over to LifeTime from my previous gym. Such a nice place to go to and they've got everything I need
Way too much juggling of different cards for such a marginal gain.
✨
You spend alot in a week and month. Wow
Has anyone heard of penfed pathfinder? Is it any good?
Personally I think there's better cards that earn more valuable points than that card
This is more of a personal question my man but with the amount of flying you do, I’m assuming turbulence does not phase you? 💀
As much as I’m into the travel game and have used points for travel, I can never shake off that turbulence feeling on a plane

Thanks for the gold star shoutout to Jackie!! She appreciates it haha

Daniel why don't you own a house yet? & children yet?
It's all part of the plan over the next few years! Waiting for the right house and very happy renting in the meantime 👍
SEBBY!!!!!
Good eye! Was a lot of fun hanging out with him and other creators at FinCon!
@Daniel_Braun That's awesome. Much respect to both channels. Both are very well done.
Did you misspeak on the 5x on the Amex biz card for the flight expenses? Isn’t the biz card only 5x for purchase on their site?
Me on the plane
😪😪
Not a fan of flying?
@Daniel_Braun I'm a fan. Just seems like that's the best sleep you'll get lol.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is doing too much. I’ll just stick with using my freedom unlimited for everything
For some people it's too much, for others it makes sense. Always important to see what fits best into your own life, and so if using just the CFU for everything is what works best then that's great! 👍
sorry if it came out as “hating” didn’t mean it like that.
@@EfLuis Not at all, you're totally good! I agree that it definitely can seem like it's too much at times haha
Seriously get pet insurance. Itll save not only your wallet but your best friends life.
Yeah very much looking into this because other people recommending this too. We've had him for a little over a month so we're exploring different options 👍
