I baked this cake today and it came out well and was pretty delicious. Although, since noone responded to my query, I solved it all by myself. If like me due to lockdown you can't get hold of baking powder, and have baking soda, The general equation that works is baking soda is 4x stronger than baking powder so 1tsp baking powder is equivalent to 1/4 tsp baking soda +1/2 tsp vinegar (Baking soda needs acid to act) Use this equation to manage for the substitutes and the cake will be soft and fluffy as per desired. Stay home, stay safe
@JN Lalchandani well there are separate recipes of cakes with wheat flour, it would be a much better option to follow them instead of trying it out on this one. However , if you still feel so, you can always try but the basic rule is the batter should be perfect. Neither too flowy nor too thick. I haven't tried this recipe with wheat flour so I cant really advocate the experience. Happy baking!

@@Pearl_tkvj Hi Priyanka ! In my opinion you shouldn't add more sugar as if you do so, the sweetness will overpower coffee flavour ! Also, the cake won't turn bitter by adding coffee it will just give a nice smell, colour and flavour to it :) you can add sugar syrup to the sponge afterwards if you think its less sweet or less moist. I hope this helps ! 👀

Your batter might be very thin. The batter should be thick to get the same design.

You can use whole wheat flour. Sieve with a thin cloth and then use. It's as good as refined flour.
