Ahhh...I miss the golden age of quads...around 2005 or so. You could buy so many brands of sport quads it was crazy (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawie, Can_AM, KTM) and all were great. Now, we have only one left still making a new sport quad, YAMAHA.
Same. That's part of what drove me away from the sport. Life responsibilities more than anything, but seems like the sport is so boring now. I miss the days when they had to actually qualify to even run the pro class because there were so many riders.
Yeah, I miss that era too. It seems like the popularity of sport quads goes through cycles. First there was the golden era in the late 80s, and then it came back in the mid 2000s. Hopefully it will come back, but side-by-sides have really taken over the recreational market.
My son raced superminis against Joel and Jeffrey for a couple of years. Back in the WPSA days. Those were the days for sure. Miss seeing all the factory support for this sport like it used to be, hoping it makes a comeback for my grandkids!
I remember the Hetrick trailer from Mapleshade. I honestly don't know if he frequented Holeshot(pymatuming) or Pine Lake TT in Ashtabula. But I pitted next to them a few times at Mapleshade...good people.
So as long as my displacement CC matches up against the competition, I can show up with any quad I want or is it like moto where you have to ride current models and no later then 5-7 years old ?
im pretty sure only pro class has to be current models . you wont have to worry about that in C , B or A class . you can run a trx250r in A class if youre good enough
@867diesel nah pro class is what joel races in. There is a production only class I think... But this is clearly not it as there's 17 year old Hondas and Suzuki's racing haha.😂😂
Are you okay in your head? Wienen has almost as much years of experience as ford has lived… Also ur basically saying that wienen has a shit engine compared to him which is also one of the dumbest stuff i’ve ever heard. Try riding and thinking with your head before commenting stuff like this…
Quad racing is dead. I only see two paths, one bring back custom chassis to elevate the equipment and riding. Or two the sport needs to pivot, I’ve been saying it for years they should transition to supermoto. 4 wheels will excel on asphalt compared to bikes and could actually become the preferred version.
@@Ripitupfilms what numbers? I am certain the pros salaries have not gone up. Even in terms of ad revenue the money brought in by OLN during the early 2000s probably far exceeds what’s happening on Racer TV today. I’m not throwing shade I’m just recommending that change is needed to elevate the sport.
@AYanez27 Tell the tracks to quit banning quads then. There should be no quad days just make it open to the public for atv's all week. And by numbers he means racers and spectators. Yes they have increased substantially over the past few years.
The ATV racing scene is still rippin! Have my '10 YFZ450 in the garage. 💯👍🏻
i think ( the ride ) is better than watching live . Ripitup is MVP of the sport
Thank You!
I watch supercross, and normally don't watch quads, so I didn't know the start was even more chaotic, this sport should probably have more fans

I miss it too. I raced GNCC not moto but it's a shame how different it is now

That's Yamaha is a great one though! They just have zero reason to innovate anymore. Get it while ya can & KEEP IT.
@@Davido50 I owned a 2006 YZF450 Bill Ballance model. Probably the best quad I ever had.
ATV MOTOCROSS,,LETS GOOOOO,,👍👍👍🙌🙌🙌👋👋👋

The achilles heel of Hetrich has finally been put to rest!!! Daytona!! Sick job!
Joel was a local, great family behind him as well to get him to where he is at. He was on mini's last time I raced
You from the clarion area also?
@@appalachianwilds1146 I grew up in suburbs east of Erie(North East). So Mapleshade, Holeshot, Pine lake
He is super humble too if you ever talk to him

Man Joel's speed is insane.

The music selection is killing the vibes for me :(

The numbers have gone up every year, far from dead
