    Of course it is a pastiche of the vocal production of second empire and Adolphe Adam is better known as composer of famous ballet’s music especially” Giselle la quintescence du ballet romantique” and of course le corsaire.

    This music makes no sense.

      Maybe because the role of the tenor here is.. to be a brillant tenor, it's like that in thelibretto xD But I agree, many too effect and useless harmonics "emprunts", even in the orchestra, so I understand x)

      But music has no sens, it's human sensitivity that is able or not to associate feeling to music. In this case it is true that the aria has no good phrasing and harmony. But to understand better the propos of the musician, we have to know that this part is a pastiche of tenors of the time, French second empire, whose taste in artistry is not always considered as the best one !
