So guys, who introduced Shaggy to Eminem’s discography???
Fred told me about him; apparently that's why his hair is blonde
@@blazing_cactus Yeah he’s been acting very weird ever since Velma changed her name to Kim 🤷♂️
That's hilarious!!

To Pimp A Butterfly has entered the chat
I stand thoroughly corrected
@@blazing_cactus also "A.G.E The Gawd" check him out sometime 😉
In the song Legacy, I believe that effect on his voice was to represent him having no confidence as he was describing himself being bullied in the first 2 verses, but in the last verse, he has no effect on his voice due to him being much more confident in himself being on the attacking position rather than defensive
That’s exactly correct
2Pac, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye are all good options to check out their discography all have a lot to offer and highly respected
Kanye? Respected?💀
@@fusion9258I mean he was until he fucked it all up. But I think they meant his music and his music pre-2022 is still highly respected
holy fuck 17 minutes into this and i realise you only have 234 subscribers?? youtube keeps recommending me some really underrated channels wtf
I appreciate you checking it out my guy
same i got recommended this and im so haopy💕yt finally doing some justice to smaller creators
I complete agree this is the first one I got recommended solid video
What's fun about Kim, it's actually a love song
yeah the dichotomy of "i don't want to go on living in this world without you" coupled with all the other hateful stuff is really eye-opening; it's a truly cinematic juxtaposition
I'm just playing, you know I love you. BEST UA-cam OUTRO OF ALL TIME!
you are so fucking good at articulating things in a perfect way with extensive and accurate vocabulary so glad i found this channel and really enjoyed (and tbh agreed with most of what u said) the video as a lifelong eminem fan 👍🖤
Thanks so much for the kind words! Glad you enjoyed it :D
Enjoyed listening to your take on this discography. Keep it up
Thanks!
I'm probably gonna comment a lot. In separate chunks. For the algorithm, but because I'm a geezer I may get to add some different perspective.
Slim Shady LP is held and high regard but it didn't really change any landscape as much as ppl like to say, but it did bring a new target audience. The things that you are rightfully admonishing it for, was common in hip-hop at the time; so sonically crossing over one self like that wasn't so uncommon, as for rush rapping to fit the whole verse in was normal (Jay Z and Nas does the same thing in that era). Until rappers like BIG master crossing over bars, and being super specific about rhyme landings. I mean technically Kool G Rap did the same but Kool G wasn't allowed to be main stream and Big L mastered the specific timing in inner rhyming, despite not living very long But Redman (a direct influence for Eminem) and Busta Rhymes perfected a speed version of it in 1998. Out of sync rapping like that didn't become a deal breaker until like 98-99.
held in high regard
Great take on the composition. In depth analysis.
The "I'm just playing, you know I love," you was a nice touch.
relapse is so underrated, im happy you liked it
Great video, I enjoyed the analysis of the albums
Thanks! Glad you liked it
the thing about encore is that it was leaked so it had to be rushed and was only half finished so there are some bangers but also some rushed messes, and the drugs
A little detail that I would point out so he knew is that the songs Kim and 97 Bonnie and Clyde are related, they’re a two part story. First Kim and then id continued with 97 Bonnie and Clyde, I don’t know if he noticed this.
I've been a fan since MMLP was released, and I agree with you for the most part. However, I do think his lyrical genius really shines in his later albums. His flows are incredible, featuring double and triple entendres, but many of these are hard to understand if you're not familiar with his personal life, feuds, politics, and other contexts.
As a Stan myself, I'm biased, of course, but in my humble opinion, lyrically, Kamikaze and MTBM are his best works.
Great video, by the way! Keep up the good work, and you'll reach a thousand subscribers in no time.
It’s great that you share the same love for relapse that I have. It’s probably my third favorite, second being the Eminem show, and first being the Marshall Mathers LP.
If you loved Relapse you have to listen to "Refill" that is the collector version of Relapse that add 8 new tracks if I remember it well. But I think that I even prefer these tracks to the main album that I already love a lot ! "My darling" on Refill is like the biggest Eminem secret gem !
The reviews are fire, thanks
Loved this video. Extremely high quality. Maybe do another video reviewing the deluxe songs from these albums? There's also people who've recreated his scrapped projects very accurately, like for example Relapse 2 may intrest you.
I really respect your willingness to read up on the genre and learning to understand certain things that makes it appealing to fans of it.
I clicked this video on a whim and I have to say, I really enjoyed it. It's nice seeing somebody's opinion on Eminem who isn't a long time fan, through the lens of modern sensibilities. Definitely keep it up, I'm subbed
Thanks so much!
loved the video, as a huge eminem fan for over a decade i was looking for a review like this one, Em has a crazy catalogue, and its the most interesting one ive seen in hiphop. Dope video

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Great commentary & analysis.
this is an AMAZING video only part way through it but you definitely deserve more subs you have an amazing personality, the more i get through the video the more i just love everything about it you’re definitely one of my new favorite youtubers
Wow thanks for the kind words!
We have quite different opinions when it comes to Eminem’s catalogue. On most of the albums you said which song was your least favourite and on two of those albums, your least favourite was a song in my top 5 on that album. Though I’ll give you credit because your points were actually very well thought out.
Really nice work! All the best 🤘
Thanks man! Likewise
Great job for a first listenning of such a rich catalog. Now let everything grow on you. In time, you will feel different with lots of songs that you didn't like. You have a great journey ahead of you 😉
I'm glad you did research and tackled on Infinite, not a lot of people know that this is his debut album.
Dude this video was awesome! So great to get an outsiders perspectives on all the albums! I totally agree with your Relapse takes, it's just so so good! I'm a HUGE fan of Music to be Murdered By as well... I'd love to see your Album Tier List once the new album drops. Other rapper to check out, I'd highly recommend NF. Visceral visual storytelling, dark tone, very reflective and improvement based, and experimentation with style and vocal. The run from the NF EP, to Mansion, to Therapy Session, to Perception, The Search, Clouds, and then Hope is like watching a story unfold via lyrical progression. Would love to hear your thoughts on his. How do you not have more subs too btw? This was an absolutely terrific phenomenal video with punchy comedic editing, and your tone and style are incredibly endearing! Bless the algorithm for sending you my way today! Keep it up!
Thanks so much for the kind words and the recommendation! Glad you enjoyed the video!
WOW. That's a lot of info! Good job.
Thanks for checking it out!
Eminem doesn’t use autotune lol layering yes but it’s not autotune
Yep, he probably thought the voice sounded weird because of bad autotune, when it's just Eminem messing with layering his voice (I'm not a fan of the way he does it either)
Ehhh most artists use auto tune to some extent. Just not usually to the extent they sound like a vocoder
@@ghostfrag8303not eminem, he tunes but it's not autotune
great review, definitely do a follow up vid on his upcoming album this month :)
I absolutely love seeing people, particularly musicians, go outside of their wheelhouse and have that revelation as to what the genre in question can offer. Rap especially, as it's so historically misunderstood and mischaracterized (and vice versa... watching rap fans discover metal or folk or whathaveyou is equally exciting for the same reasons).
Keep exploring, man! I'm coming up on 40 scarily quick, and I've discovered some of my absolute favorite genres and acts just in the past few years. Stay digging, and you'll never run out of treasure to find.
Great mindset! Thank you for your wisdom
Im rewatching this once a year to refresh my memory of Eminem catalog
This is a great and very fair review! Fair play to you!
I also LOVE Relapse! So underrated. Eminent men fell off when he took the criticism for that album too seriously and changed him forever!
the thing is, when i found this video, i was in the middle of listening to every album
Eminem during Encore was at the peak of his drug use. I still like it though. Not his most polished but still has some great songs. Relapse is awesome. Stay wide awake is incredible the flow while telling a story like that with those rhyme patterns is unmatchable.
You missed the extra songs on MMLP2 deluxe edition they are also unreal probably better than the main album
Baby, Desperation, Groundhog Day, Beautiful pain and WICKED WAYS
Also, Legacy is distorted and builds as he gains confidence just as he does in the song goes with the emotions. Worth another listen.
Chloraseptic remix was the first response to the revival hate.
MTBMB has a side B as good or better.
Eminem D12 album Devils Night if you liked relapse similar but not just Eminem, they also have D12 world.
Then you have 50 cent albums
Other Em songs.
no apologies, stimulate, Guts over fear, don't approach me, best friend, Thats all she wrote and plenty more.
I enjoyed your review. But if these were a first time listen and then a review you probably were over stimulated and missed a lot.
I still find things in his music after 5-10 years plus that i never picked up and I listen to it all the time. It has so many layers to it.
Like walk on water or believe. Can I recommend you watch Knox Hill or Flawed Tv one or both of these songs.
Thanks for the insight! I'm sure I'll continue to discover things about his music for years to come.
Good job man !! 🎉🎉🎉 keep doing
Thanks man!
OH MY GOD HE SAID "I'm just playing, you know I love you." He did the thing! He did the thing!
“Cause I have zero doubts, that this whole worlds bout to turn into some Girl Scouts”
That is certainly one of the bars of all time
Great vid, would love to see the same thing but for DMX albums 🙌🏻
This is the only video ive seen where someone acknowledges relapse as a top tier album. Thank you for explaining it too. Definitely respect that opinion for sure.
im so glad you like MTBMB, i love that album
I'd say that another standout in recovery is cold wind blows, everything from the intro to god's interruption from the hook feels so compact and smooth even with the hard delivery... definetly a top 3 song of the album
Amazing vocabulary. I wish I could express myself so eloquently. I foresee a lot more subscribers in your future
Thank you man, that's so sweet. It definitely helps to have a pre-written script in front of me; otherwise I would be like, "umm the beeps and boops of this song make me go brrrr"
Dope video bro 🔥
thanks bro
Very well done video and great review. Enjoyed seeing your thoughts on these albums. Definitely would like to see more of this kind of content.
While this isnt related to hip hop, I am curious to see what your thoughts would be on Jamiroquai's studio albums. While they have done different genres they are most known for doing Acid jazz and funk. I think you might enjoy some of their stuff.
It's unfortunate that you didn't like If I Had and Rock Bottom because those two are some of my favorite Eminem songs, and the Slim Shady LP is by far my favorite as well. But that's okay, this video was a great idea regardless!
U should also check out other eminem projects like : 8 mile soundtrack, D12 devils night, D12 world, Re-up, ShadyXV, Hell: The Sequel and maybe the slim shady EP.
Nice analysis and I really enjoyed it!
Thanks for the recommendations! I recently watched 8 Mile and really enjoyed it
“So you don’t have to” but IM GONNA
Yo you deserve so many more subs keep growing man ✌️✌️❤
You owe it to yourself to read the comments of the official “not afraid”. If you do you’ll get what I mean. So if you have neighbor who is playing too loud on a loop you may want to be patient and realize that somebody may going through something and they are trying to be strong. I always liked the song but didn’t realize until recently what it means for some people. Good video man, thanks
Dude I’m not gonna lie I was definitely ready to hate at around 4 mins in but you’ve slowly won me over!! I’m 26 mins in and I’ve just realised you certainly have a good ear. Relapse is fantastic!! lol.
I'd recommend the notorious big. He's my favorite artist ever.
You really should listen the songs in order. I feel like they complement each other insanely well and paint a picture which you will miss if you only listen to few most played songs.
Best review on UA-cam
"So you don't have to" I already did 😩🔥❤
Oh bud we have a long way to go.
I’m at the Recovery segment and I’m not sure if you bring this up way later for some reason but Relapse has like a pretty big deluxe edition of 9 tracks called “Relapse: Refill” and I think you’d like to check it out cuz yk…it’s more Relapse
Also MTBMB has a huge deluxe edition just called “side B” and I think you’d rly like the last song “Discombobulated.” Cuz it’s kinda just Relapse.
Don't know if you mention this in the video since I haven't/can't finish it right now, but if you liked relapse you should listen to relapse refill. honestly I can't imagine listening to vanilla relapse just cause of how much I like the additions
You really should have covered Music To Be Murdered By's deluxe edition called B Side.
It adds 16 bew tracks and is a huge improvement over the standard edition.
Subscribed. This was a great video. I admit I'm one of those fans that dipped out after anything beyond TES, because nothing has grabbed me since, but you've convinced me to check out Relapse again.
For another artist to check out, you can't go wrong with MF DOOM. His songs overall had a light hearted, playful tone to them with lyrics that weren't afraid of being silly, but then when you really start to pay attention to the word play, you begin to realise this dude was one of the best lyricists in the genre. Also his production is the type of stuff I personally prefer in hip hop. Just an all around super creative dude. RIP DOOM.
Thanks for watching! I'll definitely check out DOOM
31:30 this shocked me cause Beautiful is often considered the best song of the album and a fan favourite but it's your opinion
Nice video👍
congrats on 300 subs bro
Thanks! Love the profile picture btw, I just watched Superbad for the first time and adored it
Honestly, it's about damn time Relapse got a little more love. It was never as bad as people made it out to be.
Please do more videos like these but with different rapper's!
Loved this video, you should check kendrick lamar and tyler the creator’s discographys next
Amazing review! As far as suggestions for other artists I feel like you would enjoy Kendrick Lamar’s (much smaller) discography and also would like to see your analysis of the beef between him and drake. On Kendrick’s side at least, I feel like the musicality and content would keep you interested
this video deserves more views
Good job. I enjoyed this.
Thank you!
@@blazing_cactus Relapse is also one of my fav Em albums. I like how he was experimental and just doing what he wanted to do and not trying too hard to go for the mainstream like he did with some other albums. So… do you like hip hop now? lol

I came in to hate because i thought you would hate, but fair points and criticism.
Edit: I finished the video just now. Good job. Great points and I didnt notice any unreasonable or stupid takes.
Phew! Glad to hear it
Do an album review on Nas, he's one of the long time rappers like Eminem, I would love to see your review on his discogography.
The reason steve berman mentioned 2 albums in his relapse skit was because originally em made relapse, and relapse 2
But after the backlash he got from relapse, he scrapped the sequel and made recovery instead
Hes talked about this in many interviews
Ah. Thanks for clarifying
@blazing_cactus
Also, when relapse 2 was scrapped, 5 of the songs were thrown onto 'Relapse: Refill', an extended edition of relapse, and in 2011, a bunch of songs from the relapse and recovery recording sessions were leaked,
Back in 2022 em confirmed that even with all the leaks and songs from Refill, there is still a full Relapse 2 album that no-one has heard anything from.
I started listening to rap in the past few years as well, and eminem is tied for 1st with 3 other people for me as the goat. I think the mmlp is his best work but recovery was amazing and is #2, with relapse at 3, and beautiful being the best :) I loved the vid tho
Great vid. Relapse is honestly my favorite. If you want to do this again for another artist I would like to suggest Insane Clown Posse. They're real old school and have history with Eminem. Lots of creative music using circus related themes. Funny but can also be serious at times.
Sounds interesting! Thanks for the recommendation
Nice man.
Thanks!
I went on a similar journey when I was younger. Dismissing hip hop as bad music. Eminem was one of the first rappers I was exposed to. The others that really got me into the genre early on which I think you should check out are Ludacris and Game which I think you'd really appreciate their early stuff in their discographies.
Loved this! Relapse is definitely among his best. If you want a taste of what Relapse 2 would've been, you should check out Relapse Refill.
For other rappers you should check out, Kendrick Lamar should be towards the top of that list. It is crazy how consistent his discography is. Also, he has named Eminem as one of his major influences so it kinda makes sense to listen to him next.
He didn't use auto tune on beautiful he layered his voice same thing with every other time he uses "autotune"
Just like how you said the things people hate about relapse like accents are what make it good, for me the production makes mmlp2 good.
Firstly it's probably because I'm a huge fan of rock/metal and i feel like on mmlp2 those elements were very well done unlike on revival. Second, i feel like it fits the theme of the album, it has all of those older samples that take you back through time and give you nostalgia like Em intended to, while simultaneously it shows off the fact that as he is now older, he doesn't need to have all of the same standards as he used to in his earlier music.
Mmlp2 shows change in his character, shows how much of him has changed and how much hasn't in the span of 13 years, so the production being like half nostalgic beats half rock beats or whatever, fits it really well imo. I wouldn't complain if it was Dre produced obviously, but you can see that with mmlp2 he wanted to make it innovative in a way, not just rehashing old moments and that's it, plus it is supposed to feel like a modern album since it was new, and in 2013 everyone was dropping experimental albums, that's arguably the year when hip hop evolved the most, so he was trying to make it both old and new at the same time.
Very interesting; thanks for this
I beat you to it, I listened to all Eminem albums in February
This video makes me speechless (in a great way).
Loved the video dude! I would absolutely recommend Kendrick Lamar's discography. I especially think you'll resonate with To Pimp A Butterfly and Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers, but the production, arrangements, and instrumentation across his discography are immaculate (lots of Dre collaboration interspersed). That's not even getting into his masterful wordplay, rhyme schemes, and flow. There's a reason Eminem himself holds Kendrick in such high regard (just check out the story behind how he was featured on "Love Game: in MMLP2).
I'll check those out, thanks!
@@blazing_cactus Awesome! I understand your hesitation to breach a genre that seems to have different priorities when it comes to delivering a musical message too. I think you'll find, though, that depending on the artist you find, you'll see aspects like melody and harmony showcased to varying degrees. Ben Shapiro once dismissively stated that Hip Hop shouldn't even be considered music because it "only has rhythm while lacking both melody and harmony". I know that's not what you were saying, but I just wanted to highlight an example of how some of those early assumptions you had about the genre can bloom into completely braindead takes about the art form. Much love and godspeed on your musical journey!
@@timothyeverett603 wow, Shapiro's really showing feelings over facts on that take. All of the comments on this just goes to show how much hip hop has to offer beyond rhythm
Just leaving a comment for the algo.
