    I don't record music but just doing podcast and voiceovers for videos showed me how much work actually goes into audio and audio production and now that I want to get into music I have so much more to learn and your videos are incredibly helpful

    i'm a little surprised that people skip the performance parts. that's exactly why i like your videos! i need to have a good idea of how they will sound in *actual* use, and it's something i don't get from other channels.

    Holy shit, congratulations on the partnership with Neat. I was an early adopter of the KB mk1 and I'm a huge fan of it for spoken word stuff.

    From this and another reviewer, I really liked which seemed like an ability to get closer to the mic without a pop filter (which I hate using) with the King Bee 2. Really, really like this mic, and would at twice the price. Thanks for the great info you give in each video, and used your link for the purchase.

    Thank you so much for this video, I've had this mic since September of last year, but I really didn't have time (better said didn't make time) to record any music. I've spent the last few months learning more about production and mixing & mastering so now I feel a little more confident in my ability to do so. My goal is to have a single out by the end of the year so I truly appreciate this. I just subscribed, I pray you reach 100k subs this year.

    10:43 The string tension is equal along the entire string. The brighter tone is due to the most low-end end information only being available at the middle of the strings, while top-end information is available all along the string, therefore being much more prominent at the bridge.

    Great video. But something about the main microphone that you're using sounds odd to me. It's like a combination of the sound being too nasally and too sibilant which made it distracting

      I think a lot of that is just the "room noise" due to the mic being a condenser and also a bit further away than usual.

    • @AudioHaze
      @AudioHaze  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry to hear! Perhaps it may be because its a condenser in a somewhat reflective room

    Hey man. I’m a fan. Watch most of your videos. I really find your stuff informative. However, on this one I feel somewhat compelled to offer a little friendly constructive feedback. The fact that this is a big commercial for Neat mics really detracts from the quality of the content IMHO. When micing up an acoustic/vocal, there are a lot of micing options you might consider. The fact that you are only using their mics removes all discussion of the pros and cons of various mic selection options. For instance, I feel like many times an optimal combo on acoustic is an SDC on the neck to catch the brighter tone and a large diaphragm condenser at the lower frequencies (I wish you had doubled up the micing on the acoustic. I know that would equal more vocal bleed, but the acoustic felt kinda thin to me). However, you offer zero discussion on mic selection because that has been done for you here by the folks paying for the video. Bummer. I get that you need to make money, but it seems that being able to trust you as an unbiased source is your best route to making money (or at least your best route to me continuing to watch your videos 🤷‍♂️). This makes me question what you are saying in this video. As an example, there are ALWAYS pros and cons to selecting the mic you select. It’s painfully obvious that you didn’t discuss ANY negatives with these mics. In fact, everything you said about them was flowery goodness. We all know they are not the best mics out there. Maybe good in their price point, but not without drawbacks and I am relying on you to give me both the good and the bad. That’s really the value you have to offer. Sorry man, but I feel like you missed it here. Again… I really mean that to be friendly and I have enjoyed your content up until this video. In fact, if I didn’t like your stuff, I likely wouldn’t have said anything.

    • @AudioHaze
      @AudioHaze  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for leaving the feedback! That said, I would have never made a video in collaboration with a partner I didn't already feel confident collaborating with. There have been several instances where I have both reviewed the King Bee II and used it in productions, and I have come to the conclusion that this product is worthy of being displayed in an educational video. I frequently rate it among the highest microphones in this price bracket.
      Let me share with you some of my thought process when making videos like this: A company cannot, will not, and will NEVER sponsor a review. If a company wants to sponsor a video, it MUST be educational, and said product MUST have had a positive review prior to any form of sponsorship.
      That said, educational videos are financially much harder to produce (they frequently receive HALF the amount of views as review-based videos, if that). Educational videos are my favorite to make, but the channel takes a hit in performance when I publish them. Most viewers are here to watch reviews, less are here to learn production.
      So, in order to produce such a video, branded sponsorships provide a buffer in channel performance by making up lost revenue. In my eyes, this is a way to make educational content a viable series when the majority of the audience isn't necessarily here for primarily educational content. What do you think? Is this a flawed method of thought?
      I would push back on the idea that this is just a huge ad for Neat, although they sponsored this concept, 80-90% of the content here is mic'ing techniques and the subsequent production that follows.
      I know its a bit of a vibe killer to hear about the more "business-y" side of the channel, but I always want to be transparent. Anyways, hope this is at least informative!

    • @tomsiegel9759
      @tomsiegel9759 Рік тому +1

      @@AudioHaze Thanks for the reply! So, yeah... I get that and don't mind at all hearing about the business-y side of the channel.
      I understand that you gotta make money for sure. What I was not aware of at all was the fact that the educational videos are less popular by as much as you say and that they tank the regular traffic to the channel. That's a bit laughable to me that people want guidance on what mic to buy, but don't really want any information on how to use them. Oh well...
      So, yeah... If my take on it is worth anything, I would offer this: Yeah, the sponsored educational video is not going to kill me. Maybe a little explanation (like 10 secs) that you won't be discussing the drawbacks of the mic or that you are working within the constraints of these mics only under a hypothetical scenario that these were the only mics one might own and this is how you would work with that. Maybe Neat would be ok with you discussing what the limitations are when your selection is reduced to one brand? I don't know... something that gives me that truly educational feel where the mic selection is part of the education would be nice IMO.
