Who paid for this production? Why the manufactured poor of course as always - ever-increasing technological advances mean that the poor can support more and more people to do this sort of energy-hungry non-work. Obviously however - this is at least potentially-edifying non-work. The majority of people in the rich West are involved in non-edifying, *destructive* non-work that actively keeps the manufactured poor in poverty & doing all the body-breaking toil that provides for the idle rich in offices, via capitalism. I absolutely love Robert Lawrence Kuhn’s interviews with cosmologists and physicists. I just can’t get on board with the theological perspective. To remain focused on what is “really real” and knowable, it’s best to stick to science.

The only thing any of us actually know for sure is, "I think, therefore I am". I don't even know that other people exist in the same way that I know myself to exist. And I don't know what "I" am as such - only that something is going on (as opposed to not going on) that I think.of as *me, myself, I*. I could be completely alone in the Universe and I wouldn't know it. So Science only ever tells me (+ you if you genuinely exist too) what *seems* to be going on. Consciousness is the only reality I truly *know* of as TRUTH. (Dot).

I for one am not even convinced of the premise of 'fine-tuning'.
We know that we don't yet understand the 'ultimate' laws of physics, so how can we even assume such a thing about the nature of reality?
And why are we putting our form of life, of all things, at the centre of importance? What if it just is. And were the universe slightly different, there would simply be other things in existence. No problem about it.
So this whole discussion is just baffling to me. I was hoping for more of a discussion of whether life/mind is inevitable, given this universe.

The whole science of nature - physics, chemistry, is based on the principle of energy conservation and equilibrium. The amount of energy in the universe do not change, but preserved. It changes its form, from one energy type to another and preserved. Every complex of particles reaches equilibrium, based on the principle of energy conservation. This is fine-tuning.
If you look, at the complexity of molecules that build matter and see how they all are fine-tuned to equilibrium and working synchronically each second of our life - that is a miracle.
It is just unbelievable, how it all works together. And it is doing it all by its self.
    How does it all happen?
If we could take a magnifying glass and look closer at every material or our own body for example, to the particle level - it will be a mind opening experience.
We are all part of a very fine-tuned plan and though by someone. By a creator..

Just a little reminder, no matter where you live on earth, what color your skin is or religious beliefs, we are all immortal, spiritual beings of light, who love and cherish each other. You have just forgotten who you are and where you’re from and that we are one collective source of energy from a different realm and dimension. Your consciousnesses and your soul are one in the same.
Earth is not your true home and the ‘real you’ wasn’t born here. The place your consciousnesses goes when you die or cross over, as some like to say, is going back to your ‘real home’. It’s simply a matter of closing your eyes here and reopening your eyes there, It is instantaneous to us.
Every human on the planet will all eventually see what I’m saying is absolutely and undeniably, 100% correct and true. Again, one day you will all see that every person on this planet comes from the same realm of existence and have been around since time immemorial. All of us are one collective source. Think of yourself as a raindrop and everyone else as the ocean. Again, we are all one.
You have lived many, many lifetimes through reincarnation, hundreds or possibly thousands of times. More than likely, you have been every race, gender and lived from every time period. Again, you are immortal and have died many times throughout history.
When it’s time for your soul to return to earth, you and your soul guardian (Spiritual Guide) will pick your life’s blueprint of what you’re going to do and accomplish, including who your parents are going to be. Your aren’t meant to remember this in your human life, but discover these lessons throughout life. God will put people in your path to help you along your way. The journey to achieving success and fulfilling your goal’s will help grow your soul immensely.
If everyone was just told what they had to do, or easily remembered, they would just rush to get through it and go back home. They wouldn’t be able to properly get what was needed out of life. The one thing I do know for absolute certainty, is that the core learning for each soul, is the ability to love one another and show compassion for each other, no matter who they are, or where they’re from.
For each of us, once you have accomplished these goals set by God, your Spiritual Advisor and you, you will only come back if you want to, and if you feel like you lack in some other area of your life.
Please stop the wars and fighting amongst each other and start to love and cherish one another. Pray to the Heavenly Father daily and read his book and his message daily. Spread his word of love and repent any sins. Ask him to come into your life and guide you on the path of salvation and healing.
We are spiritual beings having a physical experience, not physical beings having a spiritual experience. The last words Jesus spoke on the cross: ‘Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing’.
If you need any other perspective or guidance, watch the episodes called: (The Ghost inside my Child), and NDE’s, (Near Death Experience) testimonials. A lot of these are on UA-cam, but you can also find some on the premium’s as well. I watched complete episodes of ‘Ghost’, on Prime. All the NDE episodes, I watched on UA-cam.
My first testimonial I watched about a year ago, was of a Neurosurgeon named, Eben Alexander. He was in a coma for 2 weeks and died several times from meningitis. After listening to his hour long testimony, I just started watching everything I could find on the topic, before long, I was a changed person.
People that were born blind or deaf, could see and hear perfectly during their NDE. This one woman I saw had died on the operating table for about 5 minutes and had been born deaf, when she was brought back, she was able to tell all her family and doctors, exactly what they were talking about in the operating room, the whole time she was clinically dead. She wrote down word for word what each of them had said and done for 5 minutes.
They were all in shock, how could she know what they said if she was dead and deaf since birth? These testimonies are simply amazing.
If you’ve ever had a family member or close friend die accidentally, perhaps from drowning or on the operating table, for example, ask them if they had an experience on the other side. Most have, they just don’t like talking about it because of the ridicule. Even doctors don’t want to hear about it, cause it goes against everything they were taught in school.
For most people, it’s the same as believing or talking about aliens. They just can’t except something that goes beyond what their mind can comprehend. I can totally understand that to, cause I use to be the same as them.
Watch as many of the episodes as you can, because you will get a broader, more detailed understanding of what it’s all about and what’s to come. Everyone has a different experience and will witness and see a vast range of environments, it’s all determined by what god feels you need at the time of your NDE. This will completely change your life for the better and you will never fear life or death again. It will give you a complete sense of peace and perspective, that you have never felt before. I use to believe that when you died, it was just lights out and that’s it, nothing more. Good grief, was I wrong!
You will become exponentially more compassionate towards people and animals. You will learn to love yourself first and foremost. I completely understand if you can’t and/or won’t initially except some of what I’m telling you at first. But I do hope and pray that you will try to expand your mind from what you’ve been taught.
I’ve had some ask me about the situation with babies or young children and cancer or illness, disease and ‘why god takes them at such a young age’. Saying, ‘how’s that fair, they didn’t do anything to deserve that’ or ‘why would they pick a life just to turn around and die’.
I initially had issues with all that as well, but over time and learning, it became clear that sometimes the life blueprint that’s picked, is not always about you, but those you choose to be born unto. A mother or father may need to experience/learn humility or sacrifice and yes, sadly the suffering for the loss of a child, just to name a few.
I know it sounds cruel but for whatever reason, it was ultimately necessary and Gods plan. We’re not meant to know or understand everything, that’s essentially in Gods hands. I was a devout nonbeliever and hardcore sceptic, (as most people are these days) when I first heard about this, but the more knowledge you learn and acquire, the more you will realize it all to be true and not just a ‘nice story’, as one guy responded back to me recently. Please don’t ignore this, it has everything to do with why you’re here.
Some things are true whether you believe them or not. I would like to say though, that I’m not in any way an expert on the subject or claim to know everything, not even close. I encourage you to do your own research and come to your own conclusions. Sorry this was so long, I’m just really passionate about this topic now. God Bless You!

Before anyone can decide or guess that the universe is one of an infinite number, or if we are fine-tuned or not, we have to prove or disprove the "observer effect" in quantum mechanics. If the observer effect is proven, then this is not the argument they should be having. If we create reality, if observers forces the waveform to collapse, why the need to know if this universe is fine-tuned or not. The universe is created, formed, and changes by through an observer.

We are all still the expanding bigbang. Just a more complicated pattern of the first waves. So we are all just one big ripple. So is our consciousness really one. We just have our perspective of our one. Because its merged with the human form. Reincarnation is merly the same consciousness manifesting in a different pattern. The theological explanation for fine-tuning cannot be an explanation as much as some may want it to be for two very important and rather obvious reasons:
    1. If there's fine tuning required, then it's not really a God that's deciding, it's the laws above HIM that have already decided. He's just dialing the knobs because it can't seemingly be done automatically.
    2. Who designed or fine tuned the God to be allowed to make us? What makes him so special?
These two statements completely remove the theological explanation of a designer.
Most likely the universe is the way it is because that's the only choice and dialing of knobs is a just a mathematical consideration, nothing more. Or they all happen in multiple universes.

Sea water is not like a normal water we drink here on surface of a planet, it full of tinny organisms, minerals and organic materials, eroding everything and turn what is left into a sea mud. I know, it takes a lot of imagination to visualize a giant symbiot like that, but this is what life is in purest form. Those organism covered all land and air long ago, who knows what oceans are capable of other than giving us weather, seasons and oxygen to breath, no mater how much nature we destroy. Oxygen level is always about the same and fills all air, that's very, very weird, super fine tuned chemical reaction.

People say that the Universe must be exactly right for life, but actually the universe is a fractal so it will always end up the same way every time. The fractal comes when you push spherical objects together such as pool balls. You always get 6 sphere around 1 sphere of the same size. This fractal creates the periodic table, and all physics in the Universe. If you look at a snowflake for example it has that fractal. If you look at a human it has the same fractal with a missing tail, but humans did evolve with a tail, and evolved to lose the tail, so we originally had the snowflake fractal. Our hands, and feet have the fractal if you include the wrist, and ankle. So this repeating pattern from sphere pushed together is everywhere, and it changes chaos into order. It's quite obvious therefore that the Universe is a simple repeating pattern with nothing complicated, so life will appear every time.

Evocative as always. My take is that you don’t need a multiverse if you have a repeating universe, or if universe one can spawn universe two through white holes, for instance. Then all you need is infinite time, as universe after universe is created, until the parameters are perfect for our kind of life. The Multiverse concept just makes it happen much faster, perhaps almost instantaneously, perhaps an infinite number of times. God is not required but also not prohibited, although this god would likely be literally outside of the universe and unable to affect anything past the moment of creation. In short, bearing absolutely no resemblance to any of the thousands of gods on earth.

We have heard and believe the gospel-that we are sinners and God gave His Son up to take our punishment.
We have weighed all of these things carefully and believe that God exists.

Believing in a creator means that something as complex as a creator can exist without emerging from simplicity over time. This is very familiar, but hard to accept for those of us who are dazzled by the wonders of evolution and of mechanistic natural law.
The best secular hypothesis I can come up with requires an incomprehensible number of universes with natural laws that vary innumerably in calibration (many more universes could have inconsistent natural laws, or laws that could never lead to what we have through calibration); and the inexplicable coincidence that consciousness, which has no affect on the universe, seems to anyway. Consciousness "appears" to be finely-tuned as well--perhaps it is often not present, or usually does not enable the kind of apparent clarity and correspondence we have.
A third possibility is that there is perhaps just one universe, that all substance is conscious, that more complex levels of consciousness coexist with less complex levels. Natural laws can be understood as well-established conventions of entities [or some word for generic lives] pursuing their preferences, being reinforced by the mental activity of more complex entities. A universal psychology would need to be developed to make this more plausible. I believe this is correct, and see this as mechanistic. I know this will seem far-fetched to most. I rely partly on mystical experience, including my own sense of the presence of God (loosely defined) during times of meditation, when transported by sublime beauty, or when appreciating the phenomenon of true love/compassion. There is the obvious possibility of my believing what I want, since we tend to do this. If I am deluded, it is a useful delusion.

Religions say that God is limitless, boundless. Then, it follows that he created countless universes in the "past", and will continue to do so. This implies that God doesn't need to intend anything for those universes. Some will produce life and minds, most won't. Life and minds are not fundamental forces, so they won't develop in most universes.

  • @garychartrand7378

There is supposed to be no such thing as a dumb question but this one comes close. For those who don't believe in God - you can drop out now. I happen to KNOW that God IS for sure, without a shadow of a doubt. God Created the Universe from His own BEING and so it is not inaccurate to state that God IS the Universe ( including US). Consciousness is the Mind of God. Its a mind shared with us (made in His image) and is only limited in us by our level(s) of consciousness. When we talk of evolution, it can be used as evolution of the body(brain) AND consciousness of the soul - which is somewhat dependent on the evolution of the brain in order to perceive our consciousnesses levels.
I do NOT buy into the multiverse. Possible other universes only exist as possibilities in the Quantum field. This Universe is the only one that we need to concern ourselves with. 🙏❤️

Robert - you caved in too quickly on this notion that fine-tuning can not be experimentally established. In fact, the fine-tuning theory, is an example that relies almost entirely on mathematical analysis which yield probabilities that no one has successfully challenged. Fine tuning is one of the best scientific theories of the modern age. Unless, of course, you want to insist on the unlikely, being the sole criterion of a truthful scientific theory. That is absurd. As for the minister that claims the new support for multiverses somehow discredits fine tuning as being a support for theism - that is demonstrably false. In fact, the existence of a multiverse cries out even more for a fine tuning explanation. What is the mechanism that can generate so "finely tuned" a phenomenon as the multiverse. The multiverse is an even more elegant example of the need for fine tuning.

@@michaelstevens8143 that does seem more plausible to me, to be fair. Remember, if energy is eternal, it wouldn't need a cause, because there would never be a time before it existed, so there's no point saying "without cause". You can't cause something to exist if it has always existed.
So, in my mind, it comes down to - what's more likely to just exist, some basic natural process (such as energy) or a concious perfect maximally good/powerful/trustworthy etc being with desires, and who has an interest in creating universes.
Now, perhaps our thought process is different, and you think the second option is more likely to just exist for no apparent reason, but, if I had to guess (and that's all we can really do with the information we have) I would guess that energy is more likely to exist for no reason, rather than anything concious let alone a perfect God.
