This an updated version of my old Epson Artisan. It lasted 14 yrs! I was able to print on fabric, card stock, velvet paper, vellum etc. Great photo print quality too. This is a must for crafters. I found the lower models to have too small a screen to be functional.
How? It only has 6 tanks.
mine just gave up the ghost almost 16 years! stupid me bought all new ink for it . Then it wouldn't print out ink anymore no matter what I did. Picked up this eco tank on sale today and got an additional l $100 off at best buy for briniging in my old artisan.
They're not "over-delivering" in ink. When you put the ink in, after your "prime" the lines, you'll find your ink level will drop by almost 25%. So after you prime the lines, then you must go back and put the remaining ink in and you'll find then you'll be topped up to 100%. You're welcome! And I'm not even an owner of this printer....giggle... :)

Do you always clean the print head before reselling a printer? And do you discard the used ink and include new 3rd party ink?
We just purchased this printer and all it does is print blank pages help!
You need to do a printhead cleaning, either through the system or by using a kit.
Hi if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it. I just bought this printer and boy is it way more complicated than expected. I want to use the top paper loader for my normal printing documents and things I send from my phone, but it keeps automatically selecting the slide-out tray 2 instead of the top tray. I have googled and looked to try and get help on how to get it to automatically select the top paper loader? anyone HELP it's driving me nuts. thank you in advance
Hi is the DVD/CD discs be tacky out of this printer? We have ran a pp-100ap Epson disc machine but has died as it's over the 5 year manufacturer life span an doesn't make financial sense to replace it as the content we produce is moving to streaming online. But would still like to offer the opinion till it's ran out but we had an old Epson photo 6 colour printer many years ago that had the option to disc print but it was quite something the tray was flimsy and lost the discs in the machine an prints that did print came out sticky even after dry which made playing them in players near impossible hence my questions.
I'm having trouble connecting it to my computer wirelessly it keeps asking for me to enter the (password for administrator) I don't know where to find that.
I would recommend you Google this one, I am sure someone else has had this before. I have not dealt with it before, so I am not sure.

sadly I have served Google all over apparently nobody has had this problem with this specific printer and I was unable to resolve it so I just switched to a USB connection
t is asking you for the administrator password of your PC.
The user you are using is not an administrator, so you do not have permission to install it.
Enter your pc as an administrator and you will not have problems, or ask the one who installed the windows for the administrator password.

Than for the video. Finally an Epson ECO Tank with a decent touchscreen LCD screen. Not cheap though. Looking forward to the rest of the videos especially the one printing on to a CD/DVD :-)

I just took my Artisan 710 printer to Best Buy today to recycle and I purchased this eco tank. Still need to set it up. new ink for the artisan down the drain because , as you said, blank pages and the more I did head cleaning the worse it got. I'm hoping I will be able to give away the lightly used ink from it. used only in head cleanings. the trays on this eco tank are flimsy
Yeah, the artisan models are not that great when it comes to the printhead, I remember working on them frequently. Just make sure you're printing often with this Epson Eco tank printer and you shouldn't have the same issues.

I’ve seen people say that printing on anything above 300gsm cardstock creates roller marks, even using the rear tray. Have you found this to be a problem?

Hi, I want to copy old family photos onto the printer to scan and download to save to digital. Is this printer good for that or can you recommend one? We have a lot of old albums that we want to save! Thanks very much
Most printers with a scanner will be able to do that. You just want to make sure you have the right presets in the settings and try researching a software you can use on your computer specifically to copy older photos.
this printer or the workforce pro 5890 for quality prints? the workforce had 4x800 nozzles, the 8550 only 6x180

Little confusing. Can you or can you not print A4 from the front tray? I couldn't see any of the guide markers saying "A4".
You can input A4 in the rear tray.

Could you advise me as to how to reset the ink. Monitor settings as I just need to top up the ink tanks with rest of ink. Left in bottles. Can you help. Read manual but unsure what to do.

I print onto a canvas sheet made for ink jet printers. I have an old Epson Artisan 810 that I print onto the canvas sheet with but the colors are not vibrant. Do you think this 8500 would produce more vibrant colors? The designs I print are "cartoony" type with bright vibrant colors. I do not want to have to change over to an art like sublimation printing.
Yes absolutely. I would say that the 8500 far superceds the Artisan in many ways.
Thanks for this video! I am wondering if you know how to “wake up” the touch screen? My touch screen is not lighting up when I turn it on…but I hear a beep when I tap the blank screen.
Try looking into your warranty, this seems like a malfunction.
you can easily change the MAINTANCE box but you never say if its has a reset button or we have to pay to have it reset.??
Maintenance box have chip then you don't need to reset because printer will know there it's new fresh maintenance box installed.

Change the "Paper Source" from Auto Select to the tray you want to print from when prompted in the preferences menu.

Hi , if you load A5 paper in down tray and A4 paper in up tray , and you give command to print only A4, the printer will take only from up tray or always it will go down tray please need this info ?
And same if you give command only for A5 , is the printer will print in A5 size papers ?
You will need to select the tray you want to print from. If you only command the size it will not work, it has to be the tray.

Good video. I have been trying to find out what paper feeder to use for Avery business cards. The paper is 80 pound and about .011 inches thick, or .28 mm. Should I use the rear feeder or the rear slot? It is my understanding that the rear slot is for papers 0.61 to 1.3 mm thick. Also, do you know if the rear feeder can be used for printing on both sides?

Yes the back feeder would be your best option to print on business cards. Also yes the back paper tray can be used for double sided printing.
Do you have to clean the head before filling up the tanks again and does the head cleaning use up much ink in the process. Thinking about buying one of these printers but as I do not do a lot of photo printing perhaps this model might not be for me
Yes the cleaning process does take up a lot of ink but most Eco Tanks will do that.

At the price of this printer it needs to automatically push out the tray and have multi page double sided scanning capabilities. Why is epson making us scan one sheet at a time?

When I insert paper, can I use the regular 8.5x11 papers to test the print quality report because for my art print is going to be on ultra-premium photo paper luster 8.5x11. When I print ultra premium photo paper luster, which favorite paper setting do I choose, 1 to 5?

I just purchased this printer (ET-8500) through Dell. The website shows 8.5" x 11" paper handling, but I am unable to find where and how to load this paper. Will someone please tell me where / how to load letter sized paper?

This printer gave me nothing but issues straight out of the box. It broke after 5 small prints.. leaving black smudges on the edges of my super expensive art paper. Luckily, Dell has amazing customer service and they sent me a new one OVERNIGHT. So I'm going to try with this printer again today, and hopefully have better luck with the new one..
Also, this printer burned holes in the paper during the test pages after it started messing up. Big headache.

@@rieekeerey5902 no. They sent out a new one and that one started having problems within a week. Big black blobs on the prints, both on sticker paper and any prints I made. I ended up giving it to my husband who is a tattoo artist so the prints he does don't need to be perfect. I got a canon pixma pro 200 and I've only had one small issue with it which is after not using for a while it will make a few black blobs on the edges of the paper. But that's the only issue. No connection issues, no paper jams and the color and quality is amazing and beautiful. Highly recommend

Thanks for the whole set of informative videos! An extra question of paramount importance though: Does the output tray extend automatically (like when the printer is in another room-do I need to attend to it before printing? What happens if I start printing before opening it?
mine extends automatically but doesn't always close automatically via the app but only when you tell it to via the screen.

You will save $2,000 by using bottled ink vs ink cartridges.
This thing is poor. I can't get it to print from the rear at all. This printer has OCD with tray 2. Beyond that it has very few paper sizes pre-loaded. If you are looking to print A5 like me this printer doesn't have it.

I bought because of all the great reviews on UA-cam and returned the 8500 the same day I got it. Would not function no matter what I did brand new out of the box and Epson “ technical help” disconnected me two times after holding for a very long time. I consider myself to be reasonable and this was the last straw. If you can’t make a product that works than don’t make a product. I will never believe a UA-cam review again I believe they are working for the manufacturer!

The reason I gave 4 stars for tech support (which I don't think this would classify as tech support) is because once you turn the printer on, it does require a little bit of start up time which may bother some who are in a hurry to quickly print something. To offset that though the printer prints very quickly. I would definitely purchase this printer again.

Also got the "Epson Photo+" app from Epson website. Cannot believe how well this works. Also trying "Epson easy photo print". Do believe this is the photo printer to have.
