I'm 42, at absolute rock bottom, overcoming alcohol addiction, no job for a long time, dying to get back to work only i've always worked in an enviroment with alcohol, managing bars and restaurants. All my friends have either moved far away or are settled down with kids and mortgages. I've honestly no idea where to go from here. But I think I'll start by following Jockos advice.

Dude I'm from Brazil . I'm 19 . My childhood and teenager years were hell . I struggle with severe depression since 14 . Keep fighting wherever you are . It's a test . I'm going to keep fighting in Brasil . I don't even know you , but stay hard . Watch David Goggins and his life story . Climb hell inch by inch .Also remember the people that live before us. Marth Luther King tried to commit suicide twice. Winston Churchill went to periods of deep deep depression .

Thanks Jocko for everything you do and everything you say. I don’t know if you actually realize how many people you help. Your words change lives and the lives of those people around the ones that listen. It’s infinite. I don’t know if you read these messages much, but I’ll be coming to San Diego soon to hopefully catch a private lesson with you and I also have a gift. Again, thanks for showing the light to people that mostly see the dark..

I'm 39, not long out of a 13 yr marriage, my son recently turned 18 so he doesn't come out much anymore, my mom passed just a short while ago and my dad doesn't seem to be far behind, and my two 13 yr old dogs look to be in the same boat. All of these dominoes started falling within 6 months of each other and they've just picked up speed as they've gone. About 8 months ago 2 things happened right after each other. I found out that what I wanted most in life before I became a young dad had recently become an option again, and I happened across a short video titled "GOOD". It was then that I made the decision to enlist in the military. I always wanted to fly as a kid, mom wouldn't sign the papers when I was 17 tho. I no longer have the eyes for it so I'm not sure what I'm going to do for a job, but I'm leaving soon for USAF BMT.
So thank you Jocko. Your words gave me the kick in the ass I needed just at the right moment. This video would've fit as well. So, at 39 I've been getting ready for basic for nearly a year. And I leave very soon. If this old man doesn't drop dead on a run at 4:45am, I hope to meet u someday just so I can shake your hand sir. Thank you.

I like to view it from the Buddhist perspective. Suffering and pain are two different things. Suffering is self inflicted, and you can control it. Pain is just something that’s difficult to get through. When you’re at rock bottom, you’re suffering. When you are working to improve, it may be painful, but it’s not suffering. Suffering is the enemy, pain is your friend.

I wake every morning..excerise my mental displine. I am also alcoholic at 46 just had a birthday veterans day. Been clean for 4 months..been more stronger mentally from old self. Displine equeals freedom..I ask myself where I am going or do. I look at my goal list to what I want do. I am almost of outpatient in few months. I am going to tackle my schooling to make my life better. I am using my tools to be sober and end of the day is my freedom from drinking. I walk by a beer cave. It doesn't faze me to look at it or go to a bar. I know what trouble get into or hurt my love ones. I pick the dictionary and read the word displine for week. Until it sets it in my mind. Go for the attack to get mentally stronger. I am happy and made the right choice for myself. Thanx

Extremely Motivating - I needed to hear this today thank you Jocko. We all have areas of struggle that often feel like they may break us, but we can choose to fight. "There's lot of ways to "break" you can break physically, mentally, break your spirit, your heart & none of those are fun and all of those are going to leave a mark, but the mark they leave can leave the mark of Defeat - or the mark of Victory, but it's a chance for you to give up and fall apart, OR the opportunity to get stronger, more resilient, get BETTER! Show the world what you are really made of! So if you break, the fight isn't over, the fight is just beginning!"

To people coming to this video for some encouragement, I'm going to tell it straight that Jesus Christ is your only way out of whatever you're in. Jesus Christ is your only hope in this corrupted and broken world. God loves every one of you and He knows what you are going through. The pain, suffering and injustice that you may have encountered has a reason and purpose, and that reason and purpose is in Christ. You can't see it, you can't feel it but your adversity won't last forever and there is GOOD that comes out of it. Don't give up but give your life to Jesus. Jesus knows what suffering is. He was rejected, betrayed, mocked, brutally tortured and finally crucified for our sins so we didn't have to. But Jesus was resurrected and overcame death.
Whatever you are going through, God knows and is with you. You may not know God but he knows you, and loved you first.
Respect to Jocko for his message. He doesn't realise it but it is relatively aligned with Christian theology (in a secular way).
