I like to think Ganyu set the bar for how power should be when she first popped up, and now that the game has caught up with her, she smiles like a proud parent or teacher, gladly giving up the spotlight! (Ganyu is still one of my favorite and most used characters even to this day)
seeing Vars miss that Hu Tao burst hit me hard, her burst is so deceptively big and small at the same time legit makes me miss my burst a lot of times and times where I question why it hit
istg Hu Tao burst has the worst hitbox and i-frame, i remember hitting my burst to an enemy like 5 meters away from me, and misses the one whose right exactly close to me. And also i died a lotta time when using her burst, where she just died mid animation (i still love her tho)
I think that given how good she still is despite all the new characters and meta being so strong, this is still pretty much a good ending, not a bad one
Well, given the new teams that are lower investment and perform better, i would say she is pretty redundant in one's roster. She used to be good until 3.0. From then onwards, she got replaced by nilou, neuvi and other dendro teams and in single target she is too clunky or not as rewarding as hyperbloom, hu tao, international etc. Her charged atk used to feel broken, but nowadays we have neuvillette and other characters that deal that dmg in an easier manner and more efficiently. Decent character, but definitely one of the lowest pull values rn, imo. Not as bad as Eula or Albedo though.
@@stefanobesliu6458 new units are indeed better, but there's no denying that the very fact that Ganyu still works so well is a good thing. Goku being stronger than Vegeta doesn't mean Vegeta is weak XD
@@mika086 "works well" is an overstatement though. Current abyss rotation makes morgana suboptimal or just not a choice at all. And melt is decent at best. I think the issue consists of her kit being divided into both freeze and melt archetype, instead of being fully focused on melt. Her freeze capabilities are futile nowadays in majority of scenarios
@@stefanobesliu6458 i never mentioned morgana. Kazoo shenhe and zhongli first half is absolutely perfect, and I 36 with Keqing beidou fischl and yaoyao in the other half. Ofc many other characters would be better, but it is no overstatement to say 36 stars in abyss = good
She'll always be my go-to bow character, especially in co-op when I help people fight Oceanid, for example She also makes my skill issue when aiming less obvious It is kinda sad that cryo is now getting left in a ditch with geo and physical
@@noathern exactly. I think the future for cryo is going to be Fridge adjacent teams since cryo and dendro auras can coexist and so cryo can be the onfield alot of the time, barring tsaritsa or shnezhnaya buffing cryo as a whole
@@noathernagreed. I think what Cryo needs is just more melt options. All melt teams require Bennet right now, and the best options for a persistent pyro aura are better for other teams. Melt is the most underdeveloped amplifying reaction now, so hopefully Natlan will give it something.
I haven’t heard the name “Morgana” in such a long time, nowadays people usually just say ganyu freeze, maybe because most of her popular teammates nowadays aren’t members of the Morgana team, with kazuha replacing venti in some situations, cryo sub dps or buffers replacing diona and kokomi being a more reliable hydro option than mona. Almost forgot about it, it was a wholesome flashback you gave me there.
Ganyu Freeze player here and I can kind of confirm some of the things you're saying. I think it also has to do with the diversity of units, where you can replace someone you don't have with someone you do, especially for players that got into the game later. I don't have Diona, so I use Layla instead, some people don't get Mona on standard or 50/50s,but they might have gotten Kokomi on a guaranteed or something. Although Venti is still better for Ganyu's freeze teams, most people don't get him just for her, most people might use Kazuha especially if they spend little to no money because he's more flexible
@@steffy23456 Yup. Venti ofc has a higher ceiling with his superior cc and quadratic scaling with ganyu's icicles, but kazuha will give you more value against enemies that are more resistant to grouping with his damage bonus
no, the only thing that changed about her freeze teams was swapping out diona for rosaria. shenhe kokomi and kazuha is a downgrade because it'd have to be a 20s rotation which doesn't fit ganyu well and also venti is a way better pairing.
The problem I think is why her popularity took a nosedive because of her reliant of charge attack, which is difficult to execute with a bow character when the majority of players are on mobile. So, when people found an alternative like Ayaka, they didn't think twice to switch. Even today you see most of the bow characters get most of the DMG from either skill or ultimate which is easy to execute, hence yelan became so popular even being a bow character, I guess hoyo learned their lesson too, haha.
Yeah, any bow characters are straight-up impossible on phone, and honestly Genshin combat in general is awful on phone. But on PC if you can aim you really don't need any other character. I only have Beidou to deal with ice enemies faster and because she has some semblance of a skill-based ability.
And even for charged shot DPS play style, we have cases like Tighnari having faster charged shot built into his kit design. So people who don't like Ganyu's slower charging time might appreciate Tighnari's faster pacing.
I never pulled until Ganyu’s banner. She has carried me through the entire game. And she rarely leaves my team. With the current roster I use her a lot with Miko, Furina and Kazuha. She will always be one of my favorite characters!
Weird how you didn't mention the fall of Venti, with new enemies being mostly unsuckable by him and bosses, he fell off. And he was the biggest boost to freeze Ganyu, since their burst synergy is insane vs multiple suckable enemies. He literally made Ganyus burst deal several times more damage when he could suck in multiple enemies.
Technically Ganyu doesn't need Venti. People seem to underestimate the AOE on Ganyu's burst icicles. Kazuha usually works better in a modern abyss. The real problem is that even the AOE chambers have less enemies per wave, so there's more RNG to Ganyu's burst damage, which essentially makes her Ayaka without the frontloaded damage. Bascially, she was shadow nerfed to make way for the rest of the cast. That being said. There's mono Cryo, and Furina may or may not make her better if you use the hunter set instead of blizzard strayer.
Through testing, Ganyu still has a niche: trivializing weekly bosses. A good number of them can be hard countered by her charged shot, including the newest one the Narwhal. Of course, this is best done in co-op where aggro isn't always on you so you have openings to land your shots.
She’s still my favorite in the game. I remember when she first appeared in the story and I was like if she became a playable character I would spend money to get her
Her charged shots are so relaxing to use, a much calmer play style compared to melee characters. Plus, she deals with ground and flying enemies alike. I even use her as a main in the TCG, and most of the time not have to worry about swapping characters / giving away the first move.
@@gibran8959 You can I use her with Furina Sunfire it does good numbers and is basically immortal so Ganyu doesn't have to care about health as long as she is alive Bennett and Jean will drag her to full health in seconds while boosting here immensely.
@@abdiabdi3225 That's not the problem, besides she can still get oneshot 'cause has one of the lowest defense stats, getting interrupted is basically what kills her damage, since no CA = no damage
almost 3 years into playing this game I'm still maining ganyu, bringing her into coop when i can and sniping from afar. she will still always be my favourite character in genshin and running a freeze team with her with the newly released furina is really fun
She still has a niche as an overworld unit (bow + high DPS with no ER reqs). People forget exploring the world is 95% of your Genshin gameplay, the abyss is an afterthought for the devs they made to please the sweatiest gamers who want a challenge in a game absolutely not designed to be challenging.
Yeah I still use her all the time in the overworld. Not doing the Abyss anymore, so it's kind of whatever, but it means other Cryo units aren't seeing any field time now.
This is why i puled for Wanderer, until now he's the best for exploration: anemo ressonance, hypercarry and flight skill. He makes your game much much faster.
@@quivanitas Be that as it may, it's still pretty frustrating for certain things to be as meticulously designed as they are. How does "The game isn't supposed to be hard" explain Beidou's Burst not working with Raiden's? Or Dori's segmented kit? Or pretty much anything involving Dehya? The list goes on. If "easy, casual game" is supposed to be the "be-all, end-all", what would Hoyo really have to lose by letting everyone work with everyone else and allowing players be overpowered?
The good thing is Ganyu can work as support/sub-DPS with other hyper carries (especially with C4 and/or C6). I am using Ganyu with Navia atm. Activate both their bursts with hydro = freeze/shatter everything, and quadratic scaling plus the increase dmg for enemies in Ganyu's burst AoE and unlimited shards. That being said, Ganyu easily cleared the current abyss 12 for me as opposed to Navia. Ganyu buffs herself so much with crit and cryo + cryo resonance that I ran her in a blizzard strayer for the first time and 36 star the abyss 12.
The first banner character i actively wanted to pull and then farm for with almost perfect artifacts and then a month later after getting all of that i effectively forgot she even exist till i trying to get a 4-star and got her C1.
what about her playstyle is a pain? gen question. she's a bow user, if you like melee better then obviously you won't enjoy rangers as much but i don't think it has anything to do with ganyu specifically then
you just either succ at range units, or you just hate range in general. Ganyu is one of the the perfect char for range. It can shoot literally anywhere unlike most book and bow char, where they either just pull their ass ulti and switch, or the range is not even that good.
Well if you have Aeonblight Drake boss in abyss or Imaginarium, she would be very flexible. I'm still stuck on about if I should pull for her or Ayaka, since the freeze I have now uses Rosaria and I feel like Ayaka would be strong for it, but Melt Ganyu and Morgana... 😢 Who the hell am I supposed to pull? I mean, Ganyu has a unique bow forging thing so I guess that's cool? But having Ayaka's coop ice bridge... damn, but I already have Kaeya so I'm good
Ganyu Melt is still one of my go to teams for abyss, i didnt even grind for the artifacts cause i got them from bosses😂 i think her damage still stands with newer DPSes the problem is the comfort
@@FireClareI’m not entirely sure what you guys mean by comfort. Like, her play style is boring? Ganyu melt is also one of my go-to teams specifically because it’s so simplistic and basic. Shielding up with Zhongli and then pointing my bow at the enemy point-blank is very “comfy” to me.
@@henryhe5945 her playstyle can easily get old for some. Including me, she carried my account mid game and I enjoyed her charged shot playstyle but it got so repetitive and wanted a faster action pace and/or new playstyle. Another one is her reliant on shield characters because getting interrupted with her while aiming is so annoying.
@@henryhe5945 the aim is what people don't really like, say with Ayaka or Wrio you don't have to worry about being forced to run a shielder, so you can build an optimal team with great damage output, with Ganyu that is limited, combine it with Genshin's shitty ass aim system is just a few reasons
@@henryhe5945 yes, but at the same time it kinda defeats the purpose of Ganyu's kit. (This is just my point of view) So let's look at Ganyu first: 1. has a massive aoe burst that has 100% uptime 2. has a taunt. 3. pretty much has infinite range. So in theory, Ganyu with her kit is able to attack freely from anywhere she wants while distracting enemies with her taunt. So as the kit implies, Ganyu shouldn't need a shielder, and she should keep her distance (as all the Ganyu solo vids show) Now we come to melt Ganyu and why that comp in my opinion is "flawed". 1. Bennett and XIangling, frankly have 0 synergy with Ganyu aside from the fact that the pair is the most reliable way to apply pyro for Ganyu's charged attack. Bennett limits the area Ganyu can move in, and XIangling requires Ganyu to stay point-blank. Which is why Zhongli is needed in this team. So now let us make some assumptions/use our imagination. What does it take to make a "reasonable" melt Ganyu team? 1. We need a ranged and reliable pyro applier, something like a pyro kokomi or fischl. That would open up so many character slots in the melt team comp. Like seriously people are still able to solo abyss 12 with Ganyu alone, so just by having a ranged pyro applier that doesn't restrict your movement/positioning would make Ganyu shoot up a level, and even if you add shenhe to the mix you still have a spot for a healer.
I have used Freeze and Melt Ganyu for the past year on Spiral Abyss always hitting 36 stars. Honestly my most regretted pull was Ayaka cause she just didn't feel as flexible as Ganyu. Lyney fills a similar space, but sometimes I just throw in Ganyu for the fun.
I think it's worth talking about the fall of Cryo, going from a top 2 dmg dealing element to being only better than Geo. Between team como shifts and abyss floors being less and less freeze friendly, I think it's a decent topic to touch on.
Cryo has the same problem as Geo: being excluded from Dendro reactions (or in the case of Geo, all reactions) is completely gimping the element. Sure, you can still set up freeze and melt teams, but they are just much clunkier, and while you won't see the BIG NUMBERS (TM), in terms of over time DPS, Dendro reaction teams and even tazer teams can beat them while being much easier to build and use. Also, people just tend to gravitate towards the new toys, both in terms of characters and mechanics, and Cryo didn't get anything really interesting since Shenhe came out.
@@innnffxxi it's harder to get huge value out of melt for Cryo characters due to the nature of their kits being so multi hit/sustained DPS. Reverse melt ganyu/rosaria/whoever can do good dmg but at this point the it's been power crept in both dmg and set up.
i don't play genshin as often anymore, but as a day 1 ganyu haver, everytime i come back to the game, she's ever reliable on my account- she makes overworld a breeze cuz of her range, trivializes farming with freeze or just big bursts of dmg without the need for tons of set up, and still carries me in abyss when i want to mess around with the harder genshin content. much love to our cocogoat
I find it interesting how I find myself using Lyney more than Ganyu. They both essentially have similar kits and playstyle except maybe the burst. I cannot really explain it but he just offers way more fun and satisfaction especially in mono pyro teams.
Yeah, but that's because mihoyo keeps doing things like not making cryo react with dendro, pushing out freeze meta with unfreezeable boss floors, and refusing to release an off field pyro character that better enables reverse melt.
Despite cyro having the most units it still has not stood out to me. I think pyro and cyro suffer from only having 1 or 2 viable mainstream reactions while the rest arent that great. Shatter is literally only for the cyro claymore and wrio, superconduct is mainly for physical, and freeze is being pushed out with more boss enemies. Pyro literally only has vape and melt. Overload is cumbersome due to the knock back. I'd love to see a pyro or electro nilou that made overload implode so that it can group enemies without anemo and burning and burgeon have very little actually unit support and most of the time are outclassed by nilou bloom, hyperbloom, or spread due to lack of unit.
the only team I currently use cryo that has good damage potential in the abyss is the burning teams with nahida and then Vape with a cryo user, other than that, any team with electro or dendro doesn't do crap with it, it's sad, tbh
haters will hate, but ganyu still has the best no-wind-up DPS. she does extremely high damage even when solo, and she is flexible across many types of enemies (single target or hordes).
I dont really play abyss anymore but the one place ganyu still shines for me is that shes incredibly straightforward for dealing with overworld enemies compared to most of my more complicated or more involved teams, and thats kind of both a blessing and a detriment bc I will find myself playing other teams that struggle or take more time to clear an overworld challenge just to keep things interesting, only really switching her in when I need to point and click the enemy to death. But I think part of that is I built her very thoroughly back when I was playing the game religiously, and at this point Im kind of burnt out on how repetitive involved and tedious the grinding to level a character can be, so I mostly dont. kinda sad that I cant get a good feel for the newer characters at their peak but I really dont want to spend the time needed to get their talents artifacts and what not levelled.
To be honest, Ganyu has been a staple character in all my 36-star abyss runs to this day. Ganyu, Venti, Mona and Ayaka. Destroys any small mob AOE floor in seconds consistently. She's also in my dailies party because she can snipe mobs and one-shot towers in commissions like 'Increasing Danger' making them done within seconds
Ganyu was my first well-built main. As I enjoyed the overworld exploration more than anything else, Ganyu was great for me (I actually got her from lvl89 to lvl90 on battle exp alone). I got her C1 sometime later, and now I kinda regret it. Furina makes so many teams viable that I may turn her into a burst support unit for freeze teams... with crowd control, that "quadratic scaling" comes into play.
Yeah and even if you dont use her charged shee its still uselfull, ofcourse you may be remplase her with sheene but damm, i wanna use her with navia to generate particles and crystals
Sad, The fact that I have to use her with a 2nd healer already makes her not viable for any team I want to build, because I don't usually use healers. I feel like she might be a little overrated?
@erryCocoaPowder Tbh, I dislike Bennett's gameplay. Putting down red circle on the ground for a few seconds and that's it. I don't find that interesting. The characters I want to see be good (eg. Kujou Sara, Eula and Dehya) are technically made useless by Mihoyo and we are forced to use Bennet and Nahida loli for meta.
I can’t remember the last time I fired off a frost flake arrow, but I still use her fairly frequently in abyss for her burst. It’s so fun to pair it with Ayato’s.
My friend who brought me to Genshin earlier this year recommended me to pull for Ganyu because her knowledge of the meta was very outdated. I was lucky enough to get her in 7 pulls, she carried me through most of early game and is still a vital part of my 36 star clears of "easy" abysses now. I even got Hu Tao on super lower pity while trying to pull some good 4 star cons, gave her Ganyu's artifacts and she hits like a wet noodle with my F2P investment in compatison, lol.
Got her at her 1st release and she is my main DPS ever since. She is C6 in a melt team with Zhonglu and no other team of mine comes close to DPS. For 3 years she is constant 1 side of abyss team and almost always yelds best results. My favorite Meta-waifu! :)
Man remember when Ganyu's skills were leaked and we all assumed she was bad bc the description of her abilities said she was basically ice Amber, those were the days
Most players take for granted Ganyu's range, which is one of the things that set her apart from the other heavy DPS. She can hit targets at distances no other characters can hit
Ganyu has been powercrept, no denying that. But she's still one of the few C0 characters than can solo the abyss, and imo one of the most satisfying ones to do it with. :)
I actually found her a new role/spot. In a Neuvilette team with Kazuha and Zhongli. Built her as a support with Favonius Bow . ER above 200 hundred and she becomes a very good cryo applicator, decent damage and wide aoe range. I tried her for fun and actually ended up surprised how good she can be.
Yeah she is amazing as a freeze support I use her with wanderer kokomi and kazuha sometimes with Neuvilette. I use skyward harp with her tho and an er sands and can keep her burst up 100% of the time and she does decent damage too.
@rirururu4697 i couldnt agree less. Lyney lacks the aoe ganyu has, access to freeze, cryo resonance, and pretty much any reactions to make overworld content completely trivial
Most of the time I play Ganyu/Furina/ Shenhe/Kazuha and while the numbers do check up, HP drain from Furina and lack of other healer makes playing a mess due to constant switching between healer and damage Furina.
@@janek1031 Get Jean or any rapid healer but Sunfire makes it insane purely by how many reactions all go to feed into each other with the additional buffs makes her hit like a brick.
I still 36 stars every abyss with solo c0r1 Ganyu even now. I am very thankful that Hoyoverse that they made neuvillette an abyss solo friendly unit like Ganyu, with his compliment, i solo one side with neuvillette and the other side with Ganyu.
She was a good cocogoat and thats what counts. The timing of this video is is quite good considering my dusting off of ganyu to give her a proper meme team. Hopefully the combination of xinyans shield and 2-3 layers of aoe damage plus overload thanks to kuki and xiangling can allow me to comfortably play mid range shotgun bazooka ganyu with ease of mind. Need to farm some higher level talent materials but I look forward to seeing xploding cocogoats in action.
Ganyu is true to her lore. She can do multiple roles. Buffer, cryo applicator, CC, DPS, sub-DPS. Especially C4-C6 Ganyu. Also, for modern content: -frontloaded burst DPS = non-Zhongli melt teams. -easy melt team = Zhongli melt teams -easy cryo team = Blizzard Strayer -sub-DPS and support = slap her in any team with another hyper carry (with C6 you can sneak in those instant blooms every rotation too). 14:08 actually the expectation players had was that all of the characters would be power crept. The fact that I slapped Blizzard Strayer on Ganyu to delete abyss 12 and get 36 stars in 4.3 abyss without even relying on reaction damage multipliers is the surprise when she's one of the oldest DPS characters. Abyss 12 made you bring hydro for those pyro shields, so I was like "how about no reaction damage?" I looked at Ganyu's kit and it buff after buff after buff. I'm like okay let's try. Deleted all enemies in a flash. (note I always use melt Ganyu so it's even a first try lol) But ofc, my C6 Raiden Shogun is my strongest DPS character.
Ganyu will always be my fave character. I actually got her to C6 last 2022. I don't often use her now in explorations. But i often use her in abyss with reverse melt team and her charged attacks really hit big. 🙂👍
She is still the GOAT for most of domains and events. And even today (4,2) there is always one side of the abyss that is a mob rush. I cleared latest abyss with Morgana (well fake Morgana anyways) on one side and International on the other. And I have been doing the same for years now. Yeah, you could use other teams but seeing Ganyu and Venti shred enemies to pieces is still some of the best GI combat has to offer.
I just finished her Story Quest and love her character, really want to pull for her on her next re-run so this video came at a perfect time for me to watch lmao
Ganyu main here, if you like her, use her. She's pretty cheap to build too, especially if you use her in freeze. You don't need a high crit rate and her ascension stat is crit damage. You'll need some good supports tho, regardless if you use her in freeze or melt
@@steffy23456 thanks for the tips :) supports is really where im struggling in Genshin at the moment. I'm still fairly new to the game so my account is slacking in some areas, I dont even have a single healer apart from Barbara lmao

A consequence of rising enemy weights means that all these AOE focused characters will be unviable compared to their counterparts. They are starting to come back down with the Fatui operatives, but a lot of enemies are still "UnVentiable".
You don't need to press Q with Ganyu ever, her double charge can hit individual targets for 50k when she's not even optimially built, and is itself a targeted AoE
@@Troopertroll tbf her charged shot is so slow so that justifies that dmg a bit, but other teams like minimal invest Hyperbloom can simply deal 30k per seed and hitting 2-4 times by the time Ganyu finish her charged shot.
You can actually pull most heavy enemies into Venti's vortex if you freeze them since freezeing reduces their weight. If you combine freeze with Jeans charged attk (which also reduces weight) you can even pull a lawachurl into his burst.
The next two areas will literally buff her for sure, she will become more relevant with the melt and fire buffs from Natlan and when Tsaritsa comes that’s another guaranteed Cryo buff.
ayaka is only slightly more powerful than her in freeze, and that too more in scenarios against bosses and less wave heavy content. Usually ganyu freeze can outdps ayaka freeze in multi-wave and mob heavy content due to her burst's quadratic scaling and overall higher sustained dps output vs ayaka's frontloaded output. in raw kit value there's also more versatlilty to Ganyu, the main advantage ayaka has is that 50% of genshin players play on mobile so Ganyu is out of the question for them even without any other factor@@saiba726
I’m surprised you didn’t mention that Ganyu got a major enhancement to her team building capabilities with Furina, as she offers a way to get a good Morgana team going without Mona, and in theory could give Ganyu a lot of power given how broken she is and how much she gives to her team that Mona just can’t. Or so I’ve heard, I don’t have Mona and I lost my 50/50 pulling for Furina. NB: I still like Ganyu a lot, and I still use her from time to time. She’s just not fully built yet.
One good thing that keeps Ganyu going even to this day is that she does not feel very far off from the best options currently available. Take Diluc for example: Although still strong, he does feel considerably weaker when compared to Hu Tao or Lyney, whereas Ganyu does not feel that much different than Ayaka or Wriothesley in terms of damage output. Fair, her game style may not be for everyone, but it is comfortable (not so much on mobile devices) and easy to use, specially for players that simply do not want to bother with team comps, rotations, reactions and so on. She may not be the best option for abyss, but for anything else she is still a solid character to use, assuming you find no issues with her play style.
@@steffy23456 Is that so? I would have imagined that aiming on mobile devices would be a nightmare, but it's true that fingers are a bit more accurate than joysticks. Perhaps it's actually worse on console instead. One thing about Ganyu is her explosive arrow so it's not so bad anyway.
@@necasa4919 I tried aiming on a PlayStation and it was really bad lmao. If you have experience woth mobile first person shooters, aiming on mobile isn't that bad. There's also shielders to use to make it run smoother. Also aiming with Ganyu is more forgiving than for example Nari or Lyney
The game just caught up with her. She's still fantastic and my favourite character, theres just now a whole bunch of characters on her level to use along with her.
Not sure why he's saying people just played random characters together when tge game came out. There was a lot of consideration put into team building and charecter synergy since genshin 1.0.
It's bizarre. He acknowledges National, International, Melt Ganyu, Morgana and Double Geo Hu Tao... 3:15 "I think most of us can agree Ganyu was the first character to jump start team building and meta development" And then says this: 6:10 "Raiden Shogun who changed the entire landscape and established the first widely used meta team."
Ganyu is still an absolute queen of physical machine gunning, outdamaging pretty much anything in single target, so who knows, maybe we'll see her in a bit ;>
If her c6 was part of her base gameplay, even with the corresponding damage reduction to not be overpowered at C0, she would be played a lot more, Even when she first released and had little competition, the gameplay loop of hers is so boring and so restrictive, it can be offputting, which is sad because ganyu is a very interesting liyue character and I love her character design
The skills I learned with Ganyu would be carried on to Tighnari, Lyney, and Neuvillette in understanding how to play a charge shot character unshielded. Its gotten to the point that when people talk about how you might need shields for charge shot bows, it takes a second for me to recall why. So thank you Ganyu.
mihoyo need to release a "xiangling" that shields (not too bad like dehya and that doesnt relyes on NA only like thoma) so it can replace zhongli in the burnmelt team
Literally nothing happened to her....But dendro has no reacts so maybe she is not part of as many teams as before but she is very much still useful. One of the best Ults in the game. One of the only usable bow and arrow characters too (that actually uses her bow and arrow not relying on R2)
Yeah and that's part of the problem "nothing has happened to her", she hasn't receive any buff with units. The way to go with melt is still Xiangling Bennett Zhongli, a three years old team, freeze has gotten better you could say, with Kazuha + Shenhe but most abyss content is bosses and heavy enemies (so Venti gets nerfed to the ground), the Venti and Ganyu's interaction that gives quadruple scaling is the only thing that makes her better than Ayaka, but that interaction is most of the time useless on abyss 11 and 12. She NEEDS an indirect buff with other characters, and it has to be with the melt comp 'cause Ganyu just cannot compete with Ayaka.
I still use her regularly, I just used her today to fight the Scara Sumeru boss so that she can hit the turrets during his meteor attack, as well as buff Wriothesley’s damages with her burst
Didn’t even mention the increase in competition with Wriothesley, another all-purpose cryo unit with comparable damage and performance, as well as an arguably more engaging playstyle.
As a Ganyu-haver, really the only reason why I don't use her as often as I used to anymore is because I got bored and tired of using her charge attack gameplay. Yes, it's strong but I just got tired of it. Tighnari is my new favorite charge attack character because of how fun, quick, and easy it is to use.
I love Tighnari to bits, but sometimes when I play him he's even... too quick lmao. I end up with silly downtime where I don't know what to even do. Maybe my team is TOO quickswappy with other units too lmao.
I'm a console player. I couldn't aim a bow to save my life, so despite people telling me time and time again that Ganyu was an amazing carry, I ignored it all. Aiming with the right stick while holding X is so difficult that it wasn't worth it and I just ended up strafing instead. Melee units were simply faster because the controls didn't feel good to use. And Ayaka and Kaeya were both strong enough that I didn't feel like I was missing out by not having Ganyu. Imagine my frustration when 3.6 came around, I pulled for Kaveh, and ended up with both Baizhu and a c1 Ganyu instead. Baizhu was great but what am I going to do with Ganyu? Why couldn't my surprise double 5* have been on Baizhu's banner? Aiming at the ground didn't make things better despite what PC players told me. I slapped 4pc Noblesse on her and used her as a support for Kaeya. She ended up being slightly worse than Chongyun on his team but with more coverage. Kokomi, who I picked up in 3.8, made things a little better, but Ganyu still did not feel great to play and I soon returned to using Chongyun on my Kaeya team. And then 4.0 came. And with 4.0 came the update that PC players don't talk about, because it doesn't matter to them: gyroscope aiming became available for console players. Suddenly, Ganyu was...playable? And so I have the relatively unique experience of having a pretty stacked roster and playing Ganyu (as intended) for the first time in version 4. And I'm loving it. She isn't in my Spiral Abyss teams, which most recently contained mono hydro, Itto, and hyperbloom. If I'm going for a freeze team, I've already got Ayaka and Kaeya (not together! They are each optimal with different supports). The last melt team I played was with Klee. I'm good there. But what Ganyu gave me was an incredibly comfortable overworld experience. With a friend joining my world, we can knock out all four daily commissions in less than 5 minutes. Archery puzzles are easy because of her tremendous range. I can hunt for fowl without missing or scaring away stragglers. *There is so much more than DPS that Ganyu brings to the game and I'm really happy I have her now.* I find it ironic that 4.0's gyroscope aiming gave DPS Ganyu more life for me even as cryo is quickly becoming used not as DPS, but as support for fridge and hyperfridge teams. But Ganyu does something that can't be done in hyperfridge: she can solo when I've split up with the other players in my world. She's not meta in endgame content but she is top tier in co-op.
Idk man I've been playing the game for a bit above 2 years and i gotta say I'd pick ganyu over wriothesley and ayaka. I still love the charged shot playstyle and whenever i get the opportunity to use her on other people's accounts or on events I'd be having a blast. Most likely I'm the odd one out from all the comments, but I still love her playstyle and I love using her both on pc and mobile 🤷
I think the only thing she really lost was some popularity, because dmg and performance wise she's still the same and I daresay with a few upgrades even, now that we have more characters
I hate that I pulled her during one of her reruns because she was still so hyped up, then immediately after everyone just goes "yeah she's mid now", her being unfun to play has made her the only character I've ever regretted pulling in all of genshin
I think it’s quite bittersweet seeing how strong she was at the start to how there are now characters that would be better than her. She has indeed ran her course but it was definitely a good one
At some point there will come a character thats gonna be crazy good with Ganyu and she will be meta again. I mean, as a Noelle player since day 1, the release of Furina really made Noelle bonkers. And thats just for a 4* character so imagine what would happen if Ganyu gets a match made in heaven pyro support for her? We could potentially see nuclear melt bombs go off in the future.
She was probably the first character I was truly looking forward to since that little taste we got of her in 1.0. I'm proud to still call myself a Ganyu main. She helped me reach my first record of 6 digits, forced me to learn dodging mechanics because I refuse to get a Zhongli, and gave me the most adrenaline rush moment when I cleared my first Abyss solo with her back in 3.3. Now that I finally got a Dehya on my way for Furina C2, I can give Xiangling a rest and not worry about closing the distance to hit those melts. Despite having too many options for teams now, I always find myself coming back to her just for the comfort I get in her playstyle. All in all, I'll always treasure those little moments only she was able to give me.
the thing about genshin, that these videos should include is that any characters in-game are still viable one way or another and abyss is just a small way to play this game. so don't restrain yourself from playing whoever characters you like. whether they're usable on abyss or not or they aren't meta anymore
Ganyu's greatest value is for dealing with those annoying flying phases that they've been throwing into Abyss. Nahida Melt Ganyu is a team that can hit Melt shots from any distance, and this is the niche that I think Ganyu has over many other characters. Ganyu is still the best pure Charge Shot DPS in the game, and being able to free-aim at enemies has situations that Ganyu becomes the best option. Wenut, Golden Wolflord, and even this Spiral season's Seahorse boss all have moments where they fly up, and Ganyu can just shoot at them and not worry about them being out of range. I used Nahida Melt Ganyu for the Seahorse to full clear Spiral Abyss these past few seasons.
@@Seulji My go-to Nahida Melt Ganyu team is Ganyu, Nahida, Bennett, c4 Yanfei. Usually Bennett is starting the fire. Nahida skill/burst -> Bennett burst/skill (feed energy to Yanfei) -> Yanfei burst/skill -> Ganyu picks up Bennett's Sapwood leaf and Charge shots When using Nahida Melt Ganyu, you need to either be really fast or really slow with your charge shots; being in the middle makes you drop burning. Being fast enough lets you melt while it's still a Burning aura and not a Pyro aura, while being slow enough gives enough time for Trikarma to hit the Pyro Aura and turn it back into Burning. If you find yourself missing your opportunity to get your fast shot, it's better to wait for the slow timing for your next shot; you can kind of mix the fast and slow timings together depending on the situation, though obviously the fast timing is better dps-wise. c4 Yanfei is mainly there for the shield, though she's nice to have as a backup Pyro to restart burning from a distance if I drop it or if the enemy is far away. She's also very Energy hungry, so I run 2pc HP, 2pc ER on her and an ER sands. Weapons can be Prototype Amber if you need energy help or TTDS if you're confident in your Energy Requirement (I use TTDS with 200 ER, and I still sometimes need a couple extra Bennett skills to charge her back up). If you don't have Yanfei's c4, Dehya is also a respectable option (I don't have her myself. It seems like you may have uptime issues with her skill, though). Xinyan is kind of the desperate pick. I do not recommend using Zhongli as your shielder for this team. If you do, his pillar can crystallize your burning which triggers Nahida's Trikarma at the wrong time which can make you lose burning, and if you're far away from the enemy so that the pillars are a non-issue, then you're not getting the res shred he provides, so there's no real reason to run him unless you just want to save materials from not building another character.
@@crocworks I'm honestly so unga bunga I would have tried using yoimiya to start burning from afar over yanfei but i should probably care for her shields lol i don't think i have c4 yanfei yet so for now i'll probably do bootleg to practice the charged shot intervals as you mentioned with yoimiya if there's nothing to beat my ass in and zhongli if there is but they stay relatively far away from the pillars ty for the info!
as a ganyu main, i totally agree on this. but what if, ganyu is just introduced to this version with her same old kit. will this perspective or view be the same? i think “usage” fatigue is one of the major factor why people dont use her anymore.
I still play Ganyu. she may be slower but her hits is still strong. the meta has shifted to faster rotations in the abyss but I'm very comfortable playing Ganyu in the overworld and bosses.
Im a ganyu main since day one and one thing that made me stop using her in abyss and overworld is because the only viable team for her is freeze and it’s just a reaction I don’t like I’ve tried using a melt team with xiangling but xiangling is just so annoying to use because she cant create particles by herself and you need to be close to your enemy for pyronado to hit Im just waiting for the Yelan/Xingqiu version of pyro
The coordinated attacks of both Yelan and Xingqiu only trigger upon normal attacking.. so a Pyro version of either of them would do nothing for Ganyu lol
I still use her weekly (since I stupidly do ALL weekly bosses each week even though some are really not needed to be done anymore, want more billets...) Ganyu's still the best for - Dvalin (just shoot him and he's dead. No need to go through phazes or climb him) - Childe (again, just shoot him and he's dead, no need to chance him down or dodge things, just walk sideways and everything does missis and you shoot him) - Azhdaha (easily stand back on any phase and shoot him to death (long fight no matter what you do, but Ganyu solo's it with ease) All 3 of these are easily solo'd by Ganyu and are arguably the best thing to use on them. Great when friendship farming 3 others. - Scaramouche On him, Ganyu's not soloing it generally, but she's by far the best to use when he summons his black hole and you need to take out those 4 devices. Two charged shots to each and they all pop, making that part of his phase simple. At least, those are the main things I use Ganyu for no matter who else is released because she makes those fights so easy. OH, want to point out something she does that no one else can (whether it's useful or not is another thing). She's the only Cryo character with a 100% uptime possible on a large field (yes, specifically a large field mentioned, as Kaeya can do it around the character at short range, but does require c2 and to kill enemies to do so....). For amazing Cryo application. *(edit, forgot about Layla, love her design, but she's so niche and really need cons to use right, but her burst does have 100% uptime...)* Her CA2 is also still quite different from other's (all assuming no c6's, or else Ganyu gets her's too and her's is amazing). Yelan generally only can get one off. She cannot easily get more in a fight as she can only build a new CA2 at a 50% chance on each use of her skill. Tighnari's is purely a single target situation (and his teams are more limiting in general, essentially locked to Aggravate teams and kind of needs the reaction for damage.) Lyney's are on a delay, as the first use of a CA2 just sets up the blast, and needs subsequent ones to force his cats to explode. (He's also locked to pure mono-Pyro teams.) Yoimiya's CA2's are useless other than for shooting down targets in mini-games. Not even really worth mentioning..... Ganyu's CA2 is the only one that can easily be used on demand and deals easy AoE damage at any range. Ganyu's selling point is really that she has so many options. She can be the main focus of a team and be in a Freeze or Melt team. She can even be placed as an off fielder if you want because of her Burst and all that Cryo with 100% uptime on said Burst. She makes great use of the Blizzard Set and Shenhe if you have them as well (just like Ayaka, but ranged). She does enough damage to oneshot all small enemies with just a single shot of her CA2 and take out large enemies in just a couple from a distance even before reactions are needed, making her great for killing things along the way before they even notice you. Taking out groups at the same time. Other CA2 users either cannot build their CA2's reliable (Yelan) in combat or require reations (Tighnari) or aura's with setup (Lyney) or just don't do any damage at all (Yoimiya). Of course things change a bit with c6. Like Yelan's are insane, but does require energy since it is tied to a burst. While Ganyu's c6 can quickly pop off two CA2's in an instant with her skill and no energy needed (3 in rapid succession by pre-charging the first).
she is still a broken unit, problem is that Ayaka has a better Q DMG and that CAs for archers take so much time; in fact if Neuvillette didn't have a way too launch his CA faster he would have been droped like her and Yoimiya. What she needs is a CA support that makes CAs been launched faster

this may be unrelated but what do you think about Navia and the possible change to Geo Character designs going forward?
Can you add sections so that we can skip the annoying ad?
I like to think Ganyu set the bar for how power should be when she first popped up, and now that the game has caught up with her, she smiles like a proud parent or teacher, gladly giving up the spotlight! (Ganyu is still one of my favorite and most used characters even to this day)
THIS!! I LOVE THIS!!
I can't believe i would cry for a comment, but you did it... My goat are a proud mother right now :')
big true. Ganyu is too kind and caring to be mad that the spotlight is off of her. Our cocogoat is a team player!
She's probably happy to have a break maybe now she can get that much needed nap
great mindset!
seeing Vars miss that Hu Tao burst hit me hard, her burst is so deceptively big and small at the same time
legit makes me miss my burst a lot of times and times where I question why it hit
At least he hit the enemy behind him
This is why Im always face hugging with her before I use it.
istg Hu Tao burst has the worst hitbox and i-frame, i remember hitting my burst to an enemy like 5 meters away from me, and misses the one whose right exactly close to me. And also i died a lotta time when using her burst, where she just died mid animation (i still love her tho)
@@arcofhell same I don't know why but her Burst i-frame doesn't actives the second you press burst unlike other characters
This is what taught me to always dash towards the enemy after every CA (I have C1).
I think that given how good she still is despite all the new characters and meta being so strong, this is still pretty much a good ending, not a bad one
Ganyu is for those who can aim !
(FPS players mostly)
Ofc many other characters would be better, but it is no overstatement to say 36 stars in abyss = good
She'll always be my go-to bow character, especially in co-op when I help people fight Oceanid, for example
She also makes my skill issue when aiming less obvious
It is kinda sad that cryo is now getting left in a ditch with geo and physical
snezhnaya buffs copege
prolly not copege actually
I mean I don't think cryos as bad off as geo and physical thank god I just think that people are focused more on dendro at the moment
@@fran99080 ig if you wanna stay without a healer, sure.

copuim
@@tomfoolery7797There’s a reason why Morgana is still a well used team
Yelan is not bow playstyle, it's five star Xingqiu switch charge shot character mode
@@Troopertrollskill issue(mobile ganyu main)
And even for charged shot DPS play style, we have cases like Tighnari having faster charged shot built into his kit design. So people who don't like Ganyu's slower charging time might appreciate Tighnari's faster pacing.
@@dojiz7242 except isn't good mono element raw damage
I never pulled until Ganyu’s banner. She has carried me through the entire game. And she rarely leaves my team. With the current roster I use her a lot with Miko, Furina and Kazuha. She will always be one of my favorite characters!
Weird how you didn't mention the fall of Venti, with new enemies being mostly unsuckable by him and bosses, he fell off. And he was the biggest boost to freeze Ganyu, since their burst synergy is insane vs multiple suckable enemies. He literally made Ganyus burst deal several times more damage when he could suck in multiple enemies.
He fell off 2 years ago when Kazuha came out
Gosh, i just lold at the word "unsuckable".
Venti is good in the current abyss tho. At least the pyro abyss lectors are 'suckable' 🤧
well, its a ganyu vid, not venti
If you're using a shielder yes, but if you aren't then def not
@@gibran8959 You can I use her with Furina Sunfire it does good numbers and is basically immortal so Ganyu doesn't have to care about health as long as she is alive Bennett and Jean will drag her to full health in seconds while boosting here immensely.
THANK YOU! genshin wasn't designed to be hard. genshin is not spiral abyss. just play the characters you like
Even in the abyss you still have chambers that are good for her. I love using ganyu freeze to trivialize the monolith defense.
Ganyu was my first 5 star, and she’s also my favorite character, so no matter what happens to her, she’s still going to be my go-to
The good thing is Ganyu can work as support/sub-DPS with other hyper carries (especially with C4 and/or C6).
Us man
The first banner character i actively wanted to pull and then farm for with almost perfect artifacts and then a month later after getting all of that i effectively forgot she even exist till i trying to get a 4-star and got her C1.
Ganyu carried me through the early game. But holy crap I didn’t realize how much of a pain her playstyle was until I got melee characters
what about her playstyle is a pain? gen question. she's a bow user, if you like melee better then obviously you won't enjoy rangers as much but i don't think it has anything to do with ganyu specifically then
you just either succ at range units, or you just hate range in general. Ganyu is one of the the perfect char for range. It can shoot literally anywhere unlike most book and bow char, where they either just pull their ass ulti and switch, or the range is not even that good.
for me she has a very relaxing gameplay. also, if you have Venti and pair him up with her, his Q helps hit all of the enemies at the same time
Well if you have Aeonblight Drake boss in abyss or Imaginarium, she would be very flexible.
I'm still stuck on about if I should pull for her or Ayaka, since the freeze I have now uses Rosaria and I feel like Ayaka would be strong for it, but Melt Ganyu and Morgana... 😢
Who the hell am I supposed to pull? I mean, Ganyu has a unique bow forging thing so I guess that's cool? But having Ayaka's coop ice bridge... damn, but I already have Kaeya so I'm good
Ganyu Melt is still one of my go to teams for abyss, i didnt even grind for the artifacts cause i got them from bosses😂 i think her damage still stands with newer DPSes the problem is the comfort
She very much can content with some of the best DPS's in the game in damage alone. Her problem really is like you said comfort not her damage.
(This is just my point of view)
So let's look at Ganyu first:
1. has a massive aoe burst that has 100% uptime
2. has a taunt.
3. pretty much has infinite range.
So in theory, Ganyu with her kit is able to attack freely from anywhere she wants while distracting enemies with her taunt. So as the kit implies, Ganyu shouldn't need a shielder, and she should keep her distance (as all the Ganyu solo vids show)
Now we come to melt Ganyu and why that comp in my opinion is "flawed".
Ayaka can be played in hyperfridge so she has gotten flexible too with Dendro
I recommend Ayaka Hyperburgeon, use Thoma Nahida and Water and you see more bloom exploding!
It should rise again when we go to a Cryo region
I don't understand. Melt.
@@innnffxxi it's harder to get huge value out of melt for Cryo characters due to the nature of their kits being so multi hit/sustained DPS. Reverse melt ganyu/rosaria/whoever can do good dmg but at this point the it's been power crept in both dmg and set up.
@@Za_Phantom 300k melt kills every abyss. Not hard. C1/R2
i don't play genshin as often anymore, but as a day 1 ganyu haver, everytime i come back to the game, she's ever reliable on my account- she makes overworld a breeze cuz of her range, trivializes farming with freeze or just big bursts of dmg without the need for tons of set up, and still carries me in abyss when i want to mess around with the harder genshin content. much love to our cocogoat
No one can match the pleasure of exploring an open world with a character who kills groups of monsters when they still look like dots on the screen.
I find it interesting how I find myself using Lyney more than Ganyu. They both essentially have similar kits and playstyle except maybe the burst. I cannot really explain it but he just offers way more fun and satisfaction especially in mono pyro teams.
because he doesn't just stay still spamming charged attacks and hoping to not get hit so he doesn't get nterrupted
I feel like Cryo as a element has this "you can use it but it's not the best option" type feel to it.
Yeah, but that's because mihoyo keeps doing things like not making cryo react with dendro, pushing out freeze meta with unfreezeable boss floors, and refusing to release an off field pyro character that better enables reverse melt.
Welcome to the neglected elements club.
Geo's been here for a while.
@@OC_ physical is right there with Geo
the only team I currently use cryo that has good damage potential in the abyss is the burning teams with nahida and then Vape with a cryo user, other than that, any team with electro or dendro doesn't do crap with it, it's sad, tbh
haters will hate, but ganyu still has the best no-wind-up DPS. she does extremely high damage even when solo, and she is flexible across many types of enemies (single target or hordes).
@@OkSearnot even Bennett? 💀
@@OkSearskill issue on your part tbh. Everyone should have multiple healers built. Even sayu on furina teams is superior to kazuha and bennet.
I have my Ganyu triple crowned, and needless to say she aint going nowhere lol
I can’t remember the last time I fired off a frost flake arrow, but I still use her fairly frequently in abyss for her burst. It’s so fun to pair it with Ayato’s.
Same. Perma freeze
Lolol still to this day I go into abyss floors 9-11, set up Morgana on one side and turn off my brain after throwing everyone's bursts up
Is Ganyu's burst alone enough to keep the enemies frozen? Or should I build Rosa
@@BluecoreG ya pretty much, if you can afford to swap out to burst on cooldown. It's cooldown and duration are both 15 seconds
@@BluecoreG diona better if you are going double cryo, shield + battery + heal
Neuvillette is the new Ganyu, Ganyu practically tripled Diluc's DPS, and now Neuvillette just outclassed the other hypercarries by like 2x
Reaction hypers included
A bad level design, I see
My friend who brought me to Genshin earlier this year recommended me to pull for Ganyu because her knowledge of the meta was very outdated.
I’ll forever play Ganyu, she’s adorable and I’m definitely getting her skin when it comes out in 4.4
I actually found her a new role/spot.
She still is my favorite character for overworld, no burst required to do damage, and ability to do ranged damage from safety is good
Ganyu is still the best at it but the fact that Lyney can overworld snipe now too also takes away some of the niche she had.
@rirururu4697 i couldnt agree less. Lyney lacks the aoe ganyu has, access to freeze, cryo resonance, and pretty much any reactions to make overworld content completely trivial
ganyu been my number one since her first release. she still goes crazy in abyss and she'll never be not used
I'm actually excited to see what she can do with Furina
I use her and furina, I'd say its actually fine for freeze teams, using Furina like a replacement for kokomi
Not shit
Also, for modern content:
-frontloaded burst DPS = non-Zhongli melt teams.
-easy melt team = Zhongli melt teams
-easy cryo team = Blizzard Strayer
-sub-DPS and support = slap her in any team with another hyper carry (with C6 you can sneak in those instant blooms every rotation too).
(note I always use melt Ganyu so it's even a first try lol)
But ofc, my C6 Raiden Shogun is my strongest DPS character.
I can't wait for the Cryo Archon to be launched in about 2 years and create a whole new Cryo META.
With how lore is going I find kinda hard we even could get the cryo archon
As someone who hasn't played genshin for over a year. Ganyu is still my main! And she's still good!
She will come back when we reach snezhnaya
ganyu carried me all the way starting from AR 20. idc what anybody says. She is the best char I've ever had. Triple crowned + amos. F2P btw
I just finished her Story Quest and love her character, really want to pull for her on her next re-run so this video came at a perfect time for me to watch lmao
If you liked her, just go for her, she is much better than this video tries to make her looks like xD
@@NamelessOden if you want to do melt with her, the standard comp is Ganyu-Bennett-Xiangling-Zhongli. If you don't have Zhongli, Thoma is second best I think. You could also go with Diona or Layla, but that's nit recommended, since you only want Ganyu to be the one reverse melting. If you're going freeze, the standard comp is Ganyu-Diona-Mona-Venti. If you have Layla or Rosaria, you can replace Diona with them or even with Kaeya if you're short on units, although I wouldn't recommend the latter. You can replace Mona with Kokomi or Furina, but anyone else doesn't work that well. You can also replace Venti with Kazuha, Sucrose or Lynette, not recommended tho
@@steffy23456 Layla is fine but she'll only be an e bot because of how long her shield stays on she's the only one close to Zhongli in that matter which means have one of them and the other one is free for something else like Hu Tao double hydro.
Some players with an actual skill still managed to solo spiral abyss 4.2 floor 12 second half with C1 Ganyu. So what happened to her? Nothing?
Day 1 ganyu player here, never got bored once and clear abyss in
x2 I have her from day 1, i have cleaned the abyss with her since then and i will continue playing with her all the time. She is way better than people try to make her look 🥰
Clearing Abyss in over 40 seconds really does not say anything. Could take you 7 minutes as well.
same
@@RaffoPhantom">40" it's "under" not "over" man
Under 40second?! Must be a huge skill issue for me
They should change Ganyu’s C5 to increase normal attack talent instead of her skill like Fontaine Dps characters.
Ironically, i have been using Ganyu again lately after having her benched for a loong time. And it's 100% due to the Narwhal fight.
What's your team for that fight? It takes a loooong time to finish it.
I just run good old melt with Benny, Xiangling and Zhongli. I poke the whale with frostflakes until it eats me, fight the boss inside normally, then have enough damage to finish the fight in the window you get when it lets you back out again. Tho the fight is always going to take some time, with how it is designed @@valrond
@@cava208 Thank you. Yes, the fight is made to be long, which sucks, but it's better is we can make it shorter. There a reason why Childe is my most killed weekly boss. 😂
i still use ganyu to this day, first character i triple crowned. getting amos on standard was a sign i should continue using her
A consequence of rising enemy weights means that all these AOE focused characters will be unviable compared to their counterparts. They are starting to come back down with the Fatui operatives, but a lot of enemies are still "UnVentiable".
Inazuma has the majority of enemies that cannot be ulted by venti I remember the first time I saw my ulti become useless, I felt the fear lol.
You don't need to press Q with Ganyu ever, her double charge can hit individual targets for 50k when she's not even optimially built, and is itself a targeted AoE
@@Troopertroll her Q has a 6000% scaling total I think its pretty strong as an aoe. basically why shes venti's best partner
Ganyu hasn't left my team in years, and she probably never will
The next two areas will literally buff her for sure, she will become more relevant with the melt and fire buffs from Natlan and when Tsaritsa comes that’s another guaranteed Cryo buff.
But remember ayaka is still far better than ganyu in all aspects. Unless ur specifically using ganyu ayaka would outdps.
ayaka is only slightly more powerful than her in freeze, and that too more in scenarios against bosses and less wave heavy content.
I get 36* on abyss using Ganyu always and use her in overworld team
She ain't gone by any means
I’m surprised you didn’t mention that Ganyu got a major enhancement to her team building capabilities with Furina, as she offers a way to get a good Morgana team going without Mona, and in theory could give Ganyu a lot of power given how broken she is and how much she gives to her team that Mona just can’t. Or so I’ve heard, I don’t have Mona and I lost my 50/50 pulling for Furina.
NB: I still like Ganyu a lot, and I still use her from time to time. She’s just not fully built yet.
Something Ganyu will always have over Ayaka: she is more beautiful.
Whenever someone says Ganyu isn't comfy on mobile I feel like I'm insane because I prefer playing her on mobile
3:15 "I think most of us can agree Ganyu was the first character to jump start team building and meta development"
And then says this:
6:10 "Raiden Shogun who changed the entire landscape and established the first widely used meta team."
Ganyu is still an absolute queen of physical machine gunning, outdamaging pretty much anything in single target, so who knows, maybe we'll see her in a bit ;>
If her c6 was part of her base gameplay, even with the corresponding damage reduction to not be overpowered at C0, she would be played a lot more, Even when she first released and had little competition, the gameplay loop of hers is so boring and so restrictive, it can be offputting, which is sad because ganyu is a very interesting liyue character and I love her character design
love how a ganyu vid can explain all the history with such soothing music
GANYU MENTIONED RAAHHHHH 🗣️🗣️
The skills I learned with Ganyu would be carried on to Tighnari, Lyney, and Neuvillette in understanding how to play a charge shot character unshielded. Its gotten to the point that when people talk about how you might need shields for charge shot bows, it takes a second for me to recall why. So thank you Ganyu.
I think she'll see some love eventually. It's just a matter of a new character coming out that can take advantage of her kit
mihoyo need to release a "xiangling" that shields (not too bad like dehya and that doesnt relyes on NA only like thoma) so it can replace zhongli in the burnmelt team
Melt Ganyu is still dm insane in dps, the problem with her is that slow charged attack, hard to use and get cancelled everytime you get hit.
Shield
She's Still one of the very few rare charecters that can 36 star abyss with C0+F2P weapon
Sitting on the throne since her release 🥴🥴
*There is so much more than DPS that Ganyu brings to the game and I'm really happy I have her now.*
I find it ironic that 4.0's gyroscope aiming gave DPS Ganyu more life for me even as cryo is quickly becoming used not as DPS, but as support for fridge and hyperfridge teams. But Ganyu does something that can't be done in hyperfridge: she can solo when I've split up with the other players in my world. She's not meta in endgame content but she is top tier in co-op.
Thank you, Cocogoat, for everything. You deserve a long rest, also to escape the overwork in Ningguang's offices. 🙏
She is not done. She does 300k melt in the abyss. Still going strong as she was before. C1/R2
My Decently built Ganyu is still part of my party loadout. specially for Hydro related boss (like the boss for Furina's ascension materials)
I think the only thing she really lost was some popularity, because dmg and performance wise she's still the same and I daresay with a few upgrades even, now that we have more characters
Can we appreciate how they tried their best to make this amazing video for us 💖💖💖
I hate that I pulled her during one of her reruns because she was still so hyped up, then immediately after everyone just goes "yeah she's mid now", her being unfun to play has made her the only character I've ever regretted pulling in all of genshin
I still use her in abyss if there's small/suckable mobs. Ganyu, Ayaka, venti and mona(w amber)
I think it’s quite bittersweet seeing how strong she was at the start to how there are now characters that would be better than her. She has indeed ran her course but it was definitely a good one
Ganyu is still amazing if you use her as a sub dps just for the burst. Probably the best cryo applicator still to this day.
Who do you use to start the fire? I want to try! Or just tell your full team? Sounds fun~
@@Seulji My go-to Nahida Melt Ganyu team is Ganyu, Nahida, Bennett, c4 Yanfei. Usually Bennett is starting the fire. Nahida skill/burst -> Bennett burst/skill (feed energy to Yanfei) -> Yanfei burst/skill -> Ganyu picks up Bennett's Sapwood leaf and Charge shots
When using Nahida Melt Ganyu, you need to either be really fast or really slow with your charge shots; being in the middle makes you drop burning.
@@crocworks I'm honestly so unga bunga I would have tried using yoimiya to start burning from afar over yanfei but i should probably care for her shields lol
i don't think i have c4 yanfei yet so for now i'll probably do bootleg to practice the charged shot intervals as you mentioned with yoimiya if there's nothing to beat my ass in and zhongli if there is but they stay relatively far away from the pillars
ty for the info!
as a ganyu main, i totally agree on this.
but what if, ganyu is just introduced to this version with her same old kit. will this perspective or view be the same?
i think “usage” fatigue is one of the major factor why people dont use her anymore.
I still think Ganyu is better than Ayaka, people are just biased because they prefer Ayaka’s playstyle
Thats just not true tho, the numbers are just better for ayaka
Ayaka's burst my guy
Also most of the enemy rn can just teleport away from ayaka burst 😂 and its a pain getting her burst back
I still play Ganyu. she may be slower but her hits is still strong. the meta has shifted to faster rotations in the abyss but I'm very comfortable playing Ganyu in the overworld and bosses.
Im a ganyu main since day one and one thing that made me stop using her in abyss and overworld is because the only viable team for her is freeze and it’s just a reaction I don’t like
I’ve tried using a melt team with xiangling but xiangling is just so annoying to use because she cant create particles by herself and you need to be close to your enemy for pyronado to hit
Im just waiting for the Yelan/Xingqiu version of pyro
There is the reverese melt ganyu build with bennet and nahida where you trigger burn, buff ganyu and blast people with 6 digits charged shots.
The coordinated attacks of both Yelan and Xingqiu only trigger upon normal attacking.. so a Pyro version of either of them would do nothing for Ganyu lol
Try zhongli, nahida, bennet and ganyu, thank me later
@@raderelcaroman1403i tried it, had fun scorching the geo lizard

Ganyu's still the best for
- Dvalin (just shoot him and he's dead. No need to go through phazes or climb him)
- Childe (again, just shoot him and he's dead, no need to chance him down or dodge things, just walk sideways and everything does missis and you shoot him)
- Azhdaha (easily stand back on any phase and shoot him to death (long fight no matter what you do, but Ganyu solo's it with ease)
All 3 of these are easily solo'd by Ganyu and are arguably the best thing to use on them. Great when friendship farming 3 others.
- Scaramouche
On him, Ganyu's not soloing it generally, but she's by far the best to use when he summons his black hole and you need to take out those 4 devices.
*(edit, forgot about Layla, love her design, but she's so niche and really need cons to use right, but her burst does have 100% uptime...)*
Her CA2 is also still quite different from other's (all assuming no c6's, or else Ganyu gets her's too and her's is amazing).
Yelan generally only can get one off. She cannot easily get more in a fight as she can only build a new CA2 at a 50% chance on each use of her skill.
Tighnari's is purely a single target situation (and his teams are more limiting in general, essentially locked to Aggravate teams and kind of needs the reaction for damage.)
Lyney's are on a delay, as the first use of a CA2 just sets up the blast, and needs subsequent ones to force his cats to explode. (He's also locked to pure mono-Pyro teams.)
Yoimiya's CA2's are useless other than for shooting down targets in mini-games.
I remember when Ganyu was considered an absolutely broken unit 😅 she’s still very good tho imo
she is still a broken unit, problem is that Ayaka has a better Q DMG and that CAs for archers take so much time; in fact if Neuvillette didn't have a way too launch his CA faster he would have been droped like her and Yoimiya. What she needs is a CA support that makes CAs been launched faster
Nah she fell off, she's replaceable by other units in all her teams
She fell what? who can do better burnmelt 100k per charge shot these days? ayaka? with what investment? lmao@@memoriesbrokenthetruthgoes9105
Ganyu melt or freeze still the same team from 1.3 version common hoyo throw a support for my baby
Every character getting supports or artifacts but with ganyu case not even one cruel
Ganyu and Keqing will likely remain my only triple crowned units, not many kits are balanced as well between all talents like them
Neuvilette and Lyney happened😭😭
