this is why I fucking LOVE the writers of this story. They dont make the mom look like the victim. Notice how the mom immediately stops crying when mafuyu stands up for how she feels. The mind games mafuyu's mom plays on her. Its so realistic, its insane. This is why mafuyu is my biggest kinny. The realism here, it makes me think someone on the writing team has been through this.
i on the other hand think it would be more impressive to write and a tougher situation to deal with if we could sympathize more with how mafuyu feels about her mom instead of making her a complete bad guy but i guess thats not the point so.

That isn't the case, the mother is emotionally abusing her. Often, in these relationships, the victim will feel guilty for lashing out, as it's implanted in them that their abuser truly wants the best for them. It's not being good, it's suffering from the trauma.
im gonna sound crazy for this and its okay if you dont agree with me but i don’t believe mafumom’s feelings of wanting mafuyu to have a bright future are a lie. After raising mafuyu for 16 years, of course she truly wants the best for her. However, she’s so stuck in this stubborn mindset that mafuyu HAS to succeed that it led to her being emotionally manipulative and abusive. It is not her fault she cares for mafuyu, but it is her fault for stubbornly refusing to understand mafuyu’s feelings. the voice acting in psekai has always stood out to me. I think you can notice it the easiest with Emu but even quieter characters who's lines are more subtle are performed insanely well and make the character sound very real
Fr You can really feel how she's feeling just by the tone of her Her voice is a lot softer when thinking about the connections between her and her friends, but when she thinks of home, her tone becomes a lot rougher and disturbed It's crazy how it's so impactful, despite her voice being so quiet
The way Mafuyu let out her emotions had tears running down my face but GOD DAMN DOES THE MOM EVEN HAVE EARS WHAT THE HELL. She be contradicting every word she says and trying to guilt trip her. Even as far back as the flashback in Lost Child, Mafuyu's mom made it about *her.* It was a great effort, but... someone that selfish wasn't going to listen.

The whole situation with Mafuyu's mother has always been so, so surreal to me. It is almost as if someone wrote a character directly based off myself and my own mom. It's insane how similar our situations are. I never realized how toxic my own mother was until I seen that people were saying Mafuyu's mom was terrible.
Please tell your mother about how you feel, if you don’t at least get it off your chest you may regret it. At least try to see a counselor, or talk to another trusted adult. I know it’s hard, but we’re all here rooting for you. You can do it!!

"mafuyu, i'm sorry for nagging you about everything, not allowing you to do what you want..." at this point sorry doesn't even come CLOSE to making up for it. Man, Tanabe Rui did such an amazing job in this event. She's so good at conveying Mafuyu's pain, and hearing her when she's telling her mom of how she feels almost made me cry. It's just so real. Talented voice actress

Luckily my parents weren’t strict or anything but they were incredibly overbearing. With this in mind, I feel so much for Mafuyu. Having your favorite things taken away so you’d do better, having a curfew, not feeling heard when you finally stand up for yourself
“Only thinking of the fun things in front of you” is the absolutely craziest take I’ve ever hear. Mafuyu doesn’t make music because it’s fun. None of n25 does, Kanade, rest her soul omg she literally has been doing this for so long without break because she thinks it’s her fault her father almost died and now he doesn’t even remember her, it’s not fun. It’s work. Ena, oh dear. Ena found an outlet through Kanade for her artwork after her father basically destroyed her dreams in one fail swoop and even then she works so hard for even an ounce of appreciation and approval and it’s cost her almost everything. And Mizuki, Mizuki is well, Mizuki. She’s always been ‘Weird’ or crazy to people and that’s heartbreaking, the people who you thought were friends now talking behind your back saying that you are odd and unconventional is so heartbreaking, so she stopped going to school about 75% of the time and poor girl fights with herself and the music she helps make conveys feelings she probably wouldn’t know how to put into words. Last but not least mafuyu, she’s only making music because it’s the only thing that makes her feel anything. Music is an outlet to all of them, mafuyu is so tired of constantly being perfect for her mother and her dreams of being a nurse being immediately shut down in her own mind because she “Musnt disobey my mother” is terrible. She wants to help and heal she all of them, Kanade, Ena, Mafuyu, and Mizuki. They must all heal for themselves before they help others. And that’s the toughest battle there is.

I have never seen such accurate character development in my life. After what feels like years of suffering from her own mother, Mafuyu finally stood up for herself, yelled out her true feelings and even ran away from her mom. I can't help but wonder what will be next for Mafuyu after this event story.
There’s fewer things more soul crushing than when you take the large step to be vulnerable and open to a loved one, only for them to rip you apart from the inside out.
This really hits close to home. My mother is exactly like this, the quick changes of emotions, vocals changing and so much more, I can’t even explain the amount of guilt tripping I had to and still put up with now. But sadly, things got so bad my mother moved out. I just wanted to share because I’ve had to live with this sort of anguish in my heart for years because of her, I’d give anything for my mother to be sincere even for a minute. But sadly she’s not a good person, so if your mom is the complete opposite and genuinely cares, PLEASE cherish it.
You and I are kin. Everything is the same or similar. Some days I wonder if her being alive would be better or worse and it's torture to miss and hate her all at once. While I do hate that anyone has lived a life like this, there is a selfish part of me that is grateful to not be alone anymore. Thank you

The more I see Mafumom, the more I'm convinced that her mom also had that childhood and they have some kind of generational trauma. MafuMom never had light in her eye, whenever we saw her. It's a shame that this didn't work as well as Mafuyu thought but then again i didn't expect anything either considering what kind of person her mother is. I guess this is the closest to a good ending this situation will have.
Now I am NOT a MafuMom apologist. What she has done to Mafuyu is awful, and is abusive. However, by simply watching how she interacts with Mafuyu, something tells me that this is more than just MafuMom. I have a feeling that ahe was treated like this when she was younger, because unless she’s a psychopath, this doesn’t come naturally. I feel as if she DOES somewhat care for Mafuyu, but she sees the abuse as caring, and not how to care in a healthy way for Mafuyu. I think that the pressure Mafuyu is feeling is something that she felt when she was Mafuyu’s age. And maybe she doesn’t want Mafuyu to fail because maybe SHE had failed? She might’ve suffered abuse because she failed the exam, or failed to meet HER family’s expectations. This is just what I think, and I’m not anything close to a professional. Again, I don’t excuse MafuMom for the torture and abuse Mafuyu is going through, I just don’t think it’s out of pure evil.

This is why proseka has the best people to write the scripts. I swear they convey emotions so well its like your actually in the situation and it makes you connect with the characters. This game has so much good writing that I never realized. The whole dynamic of Mafuyus relationship with her family is so realistic and really, really relatable. I have a great mom who I love dearly, and she would never treat me this way but for some reason I still relate so much to Mafuyu and her struggles.
Truly if Mafuyu never got any equipment to begin with Im 100% sure she would have offed herself from the pain her mother has costed her. Usually in media, there will be an argument section (commonly the villain and hero) where the villain says their opinions that are actual facts to reality, while the hero counters it EASILY with what he or she believes in (with what the hero experienced) But in the case of Mafuyu (the hero here) who has HER LIFE manipulated by HER MOTHER. She was sympathetic to her because she is indeed grateful for her preparing her for the perfect life. But inside, she had a convinction. To create music together with Kanade and the rest. Mafuyu is afraid to say it, but she did it regardless. And a word from me, you are ALREADY strong. Really. Even if you aren't confident in what you're doing, y'all did it. And i'm proud of you for that. Strength is not limited to your physical ability, but realizing what they have done to you while still being yourself is already a strength in itself. You kept going.

I may have not gone through this, but as someone who had a friend who had gone through the experience, I deeply understand.
listen here any "strict" parent, if your kid do something they love and still fulfilling their "duties", that doesn't mean they didn't care about your feeling, instead they really care about you that they give extra energy to everything they do so they can fullfill both side. But if you consider that "extra" activity as slacking off, you just broke their trust and don't expect they will "cooperate" with you smoothly

I had the exact same situation as her. And I even did tried talking about my feelings to my mom but she denied everything and told me everything was for my own good. Then she managed to turn the story and make everything about her. I gave up trying to fix our relationship and was swayed by her tears. I realized I’ll never have a mother-daughter relationship like my friends have with their mom. My big sister admitted she felt the same. Even if I won’t and probably will never have those type of relationships with my mom, I still had my sister and friends supporting me. Thank god, and I’m not saying my mom is all bad, but this side of her hurt me the most… and she couldn’t even managed to apologize or admit her mistake properly… the sad thing is, its because she was raised that way (my grandma told me) so she never knew this kind of thing is toxic. What’s ironic is that she studies phycology and almost become a therapist as it was her dream, but decided to back down because of her daughters. How could I not forgive her? I completely understand Mafuyu’s feelings. It’s not as simple as that. And that’s why she is my favourite character

That's such a manipulative thing to do, pushing your feelings into the other person's feelings, then offering something new that could strengthen your bond with somebody, when in reality it's just a wordplay. Especially saying "mom", just basically manipulating the other person into doing whatever you want to do, giving them a complicated decision to make. I seriously hope she dies.

alright so i might be projecting (though i do heavily relate to mafuyu in general) but this feels so accurate. from the mother's guilt tripping, feeling guilty after the mother seems upset, to the sudden change of emotions, "i care about you," and so much more. the only difference i have from mafuyu is that i forgive my mom and care about her way to much to even tell her how i actually feel lol.
As someone who relates and feels comfort in Mafuyu I am very happy for her, I also have a bad relationship with my parent and I'm happy Mafuyu manged to tell her mother her true feelings, one day I also hope I'll be able to tell my parents my true feelings.

These stories are what made me love Project Sekai, they're simply natural and they kinda made me heal my teenager self as there are many situations where you feel highly identified with the characters. As for this one, damn, kudos to the writers, I always knew Mafuyu's mom was a narcissistic person since the group's main story, I really love what Kanade and the other girls are doing for her, in the end, friends help you overcome different difficulties.
As a person who has a similar problem to mafuyus ive never realised untill now how toxic and abusive the relationship with my parents has been and still is, its surreal almost as if someone wrote a character based of off my story and it made me realize a lot of things

this is why I fucking LOVE the writers of this story. They dont make the mom look like the victim. Notice how the mom immediately stops crying when mafuyu stands up for how she feels. The mind games mafuyu's mom plays on her. Its so realistic, its insane. This is why mafuyu is my biggest kinny. The realism here, it makes me think someone on the writing team has been through this.
i on the other hand think it would be more impressive to write and a tougher situation to deal with if we could sympathize more with how mafuyu feels about her mom instead of making her a complete bad guy but i guess thats not the point so.

Man, Tanabe Rui did such an amazing job in this event. She's so good at conveying Mafuyu's pain, and hearing her when she's telling her mom of how she feels almost made me cry. It's just so real. Talented voice actress

Luckily my parents weren’t strict or anything but they were incredibly overbearing. With this in mind, I feel so much for Mafuyu. Having your favorite things taken away so you’d do better, having a curfew, not feeling heard when you finally stand up for yourself

“Only thinking of the fun things in front of you” is the absolutely craziest take I’ve ever hear. Mafuyu doesn’t make music because it’s fun. None of n25 does, Kanade, rest her soul omg she literally has been doing this for so long without break because she thinks it’s her fault her father almost died and now he doesn’t even remember her, it’s not fun. It’s work. Ena, oh dear. Ena found an outlet through Kanade for her artwork after her father basically destroyed her dreams in one fail swoop and even then she works so hard for even an ounce of appreciation and approval and it’s cost her almost everything. And Mizuki, Mizuki is well, Mizuki. She’s always been ‘Weird’ or crazy to people and that’s heartbreaking, the people who you thought were friends now talking behind your back saying that you are odd and unconventional is so heartbreaking, so she stopped going to school about 75% of the time and poor girl fights with herself and the music she helps make conveys feelings she probably wouldn’t know how to put into words. Last but not least mafuyu, she’s only making music because it’s the only thing that makes her feel anything. Music is an outlet to all of them, mafuyu is so tired of constantly being perfect for her mother and her dreams of being a nurse being immediately shut down in her own mind because she “Musnt disobey my mother” is terrible. She wants to help and heal she all of them, Kanade, Ena, Mafuyu, and Mizuki. They must all heal for themselves before they help others. And that’s the toughest battle there is.

This really hits close to home. My mother is exactly like this, the quick changes of emotions, vocals changing and so much more, I can’t even explain the amount of guilt tripping I had to and still put up with now. But sadly, things got so bad my mother moved out. I just wanted to share because I’ve had to live with this sort of anguish in my heart for years because of her, I’d give anything for my mother to be sincere even for a minute. But sadly she’s not a good person, so if your mom is the complete opposite and genuinely cares, PLEASE cherish it.

It's a shame that this didn't work as well as Mafuyu thought but then again i didn't expect anything either considering what kind of person her mother is. I guess this is the closest to a good ending this situation will have.
Now I am NOT a MafuMom apologist. What she has done to Mafuyu is awful, and is abusive. However, by simply watching how she interacts with Mafuyu, something tells me that this is more than just MafuMom. I have a feeling that ahe was treated like this when she was younger, because unless she’s a psychopath, this doesn’t come naturally. I feel as if she DOES somewhat care for Mafuyu, but she sees the abuse as caring, and not how to care in a healthy way for Mafuyu. I think that the pressure Mafuyu is feeling is something that she felt when she was Mafuyu’s age. And maybe she doesn’t want Mafuyu to fail because maybe SHE had failed? She might’ve suffered abuse because she failed the exam, or failed to meet HER family’s expectations. This is just what I think, and I’m not anything close to a professional. Again, I don’t excuse MafuMom for the torture and abuse Mafuyu is going through, I just don’t think it’s out of pure evil.

This game has so much good writing that I never realized. The whole dynamic of Mafuyus relationship with her family is so realistic and really, really relatable. I have a great mom who I love dearly, and she would never treat me this way but for some reason I still relate so much to Mafuyu and her struggles.
Truly if Mafuyu never got any equipment to begin with Im 100% sure she would have offed herself from the pain her mother has costed her. But in the case of Mafuyu (the hero here) who has HER LIFE manipulated by HER MOTHER. She was sympathetic to her because she is indeed grateful for her preparing her for the perfect life. But inside, she had a convinction. To create music together with Kanade and the rest. Mafuyu is afraid to say it, but she did it regardless.
And a word from me, you are ALREADY strong. Really. Even if you aren't confident in what you're doing, y'all did it. And i'm proud of you for that. Strength is not limited to your physical ability, but realizing what they have done to you while still being yourself is already a strength in itself. You kept going.

God i know nothing of Project Sekai but this conversation with her mom reminded me so much of my mom my mother is JUST like this the amount of uncomfortable i felt listening to this is just surreal. Alot of people just tell me im overreacting but it HURTS, it hurts so much to be treated this way by your own mother. And yet through all her guilt tripping i still cave in i STILL listen to every word she says, sacrificing my own happiness because i want my mother to be happy, i want her to feel proud of me i want her to not see me as a failure compared to my successful brother. I want her to look at MY feelings for once i want her to understand and yet i can't seem to ever achieve any of this 💔

I had the exact same situation as her. And I even did tried talking about my feelings to my mom but she denied everything and told me everything was for my own good. Then she managed to turn the story and make everything about her. I gave up trying to fix our relationship and was swayed by her tears. I realized I’ll never have a mother-daughter relationship like my friends have with their mom. My big sister admitted she felt the same. Even if I won’t and probably will never have those type of relationships with my mom, I still had my sister and friends supporting me. Thank god, and I’m not saying my mom is all bad, but this side of her hurt me the most… and she couldn’t even managed to apologize or admit her mistake properly… the sad thing is, its because she was raised that way (my grandma told me) so she never knew this kind of thing is toxic. What’s ironic is that she studies phycology and almost become a therapist as it was her dream, but decided to back down because of her daughters. How could I not forgive her? I completely understand Mafuyu’s feelings. It’s not as simple as that. And that’s why she is my favourite character
I really really afraid that after Mafuyu confronts her mom about her own feelings they would try to redeem Mafuyu’s mom, so I’m really glad they didn’t go down that route because that would have been a terrible path to take

Man, that's actually really realistic. Especially the part at 6:36, it actually made me feel bad for her atleast for once. That's such a manipulative thing to do, pushing your feelings into the other person's feelings, then offering something new that could strengthen your bond with somebody, when in reality it's just a wordplay. Especially saying "mom", just basically manipulating the other person into doing whatever you want to do, giving them a complicated decision to make. I seriously hope she dies.
Yet you're still falling for that"wordplay(s)". If you're really this self aware, then why don't you also grow out of it and be finally honest and clear for once.
alright so i might be projecting (though i do heavily relate to mafuyu in general) but this feels so accurate. from the mother's guilt tripping, feeling guilty after the mother seems upset, to the sudden change of emotions, "i care about you," and so much more. the only difference i have from mafuyu is that i forgive my mom and care about her way to much to even tell her how i actually feel lol.
As someone who relates and feels comfort in Mafuyu I am very happy for her, I also have a bad relationship with my parent and I'm happy Mafuyu manged to tell her mother her true feelings, one day I also hope I'll be able to tell my parents my true feelings.

These stories are what made me love Project Sekai, they're simply natural and they kinda made me heal my teenager self as there are many situations where you feel highly identified with the characters.
As for this one, damn, kudos to the writers, I always knew Mafuyu's mom was a narcissistic person since the group's main story, I really love what Kanade and the other girls are doing for her, in the end, friends help you overcome different difficulties.
