This was tough! Mixing three dark colors and yet bringing them all out! Stunning! I am following this recipe minute by minute in India. And what do I say about the fragrance? Simply divine! I wish you come back to soap making, the boss! We newbies could do with you around. God bless!
Very nice. That first bar had a dragon in it. You can never have too much glitter. Thank you for helping me pass the time in the emergency room waiting to be admitted.
Hi Dean. Checking in from the US again. Hope all is well with you and your family. Two things: 1. You're 100% right. It IS your soap. So I say put as much glitter as you want. You could always write in the label it has a hazard of turning people into disco balls. 😄😄 2. A few months ago, I was watching another of my favorite soap designers on UA-cam and she was using Brambleberry FO named island escapes and her description of it made me order some for my melt and pour soaps and wax tarts. If you haven't tried it yet, (and it won't blow your budget sky high with shipping costs), I think you'd LOVE it. Lastly, I have a question about using coffee grinds in soaps. Have you gotten any complaints from people about coffee grinds or anything like that kind of exfoliating item from the soap clogging their pores and/or their plumbing drains? I have been meaning to ask for a long time. May you have a blessed weekend ahead of you. ~Theresa
Hi Theresa, I label the soap with biodegradable glitter. I normally just buy FO from Australian supplies, but I will check out my local and see if they have it. If you add coffee grounds to melt and pour it will turn brown but if you label it as an exfoliant then it should be fine. Off all the sales where I have sold soap with coffee grind, I have not heard any complaints.
DEAN! 🤩 This looks incredible! It’s like segmented radiography images! But with glitter! ✨ “Not enough!” 👏👏💟🖤 And A+ on including the scent profile! V thorough.
Love it! Great video showing all the pouring and remelting, it takes time and timing to do these swirls :) I’m guessing the fragrance had a bit of vanillin but with dark colours it takes the worry of discolouration away. And honestly, all soap could be purple in my world. Silver is just a bonus.
Hello Dean, so happy I found your channel 😀😃 I am so so new to soap making, actually so new I haven’t even made a bar lol. Dean quick question can you add together a number of soap bases together ?
Wonder if you used a metal skewer, and heated it like over the gas stove or something, or maybe left it sit in a jug of boiling/hot water. If that would let you do the feathering on top?
Amazing drop swirl technique for a M&P base. I've just got 2 assessments in melt & pour, I might get the chemist to add on suspending base aswell as yours has turned out really good. Sometimes I like to do M&P aswell as CP soap. Have you tried popping your jugs into a bowl of hot water to keep them fluid, save keep microwaving them? You can get little heated bain Marie's...that might be helpful? Sharon 🐑 Xxx
@Dean Wilson Oh OK, you got to do what suits. I'd be doing the hokey cokey with mine. I can only get one jug in at a time...in out, in out! Fab result. Xxx
Gorgeous! Glittered too. Hey, try pouring from up high, drop swirl style, the weight of the goop, the velocity and whatever 👊will fill holes. Up high pouring, yeah. But those bars are xquisite. Make me wanna change my bathroom colors to match it. 😁 Awsm. Thx 😍👆💯🇺🇸
Hi Dean These look amazing. I am about to embark on my soap making journey and wondered: do you need mica or can you use just the dye? What is the difference? Thankyou
Your need to use skin safe dye. Found only at soap suppliers or places like Amazon. But if it does not say skin safe, dont use it. Mica is fine for a solid color but if you want to use with clear liquid dye is also fine.
Wow! I love this. Your soaps always come out amazing. I've also noticed you now use plastic pitchers. Do you prefer the plastic pitchers (Microwave Method) over the aluminum pitchers (Double Boiling Method) for melting soap?
Thanks so much. Yes for me the microwave was a step up. But I had 2 microwaves. One for my food and one for soap. Before I didn't have that option, but I do prefer the speedy process of the microwave.
@@DeanWilson Yes, of course! Thank you for your reply. If you don’t mind me asking, where did you buy your plastic pitchers? I haven't been able to find good quality pitchers that are durable for the microwave, and I'd want to give these a shot.
That turned out totally awesome 👏🏻 & it’s a definite yes to the glitter from me! Quick question: how do you get the soap liquid enough to pour but still cool enough for the colours to stay separated? I find if mines cool enough it’s all blobby.
That is the trick i think, finding that perfect temp where the colors will not merge but stick together. Normally under 130F will be perfect for this in most bases, but check with your supplier first.
The supplier of the base provides the base ingredients then I just add fragrance oil into it. But please check with your state and country laws. Each country is different.
Dean what kind of mold are you using it looks like the one that I have that I bought off of Amazon but mine's holds 1500 G whereas yours holds 1090 grams I ask because whenever I try to use your Gram count my mold is always short..
I purchased from an ebay seller. I can't find her now, but I think it's called the 1kg loaf mold. I know the 1.5kg your talked about, I think it's a little wider.
@@DeanWilson I would love to be able to send you pictures of the soaps I've done in my attempts to re-imagine your creations, I dont sell them but i do give out to friends and family, i'm more of a hobbyist right now.
I'm screaming yes to the glitter!! lol you can never have too much glitter!!

Yes, another person said they saw a dragon. How cool is that.
Looks really good for melt and pour! You can get the swirl effects you were looking to try a lot easier with cold process.
Yes, some times it works. I think I was luck with this one :)

Hello Dean, so happy I found your channel 😀😃 I am so so new to soap making, actually so new I haven’t even made a bar lol. Dean quick question can you add together a number of soap bases together ?
Thank you and welcome Annette, Yes, it should be find but when you label the soap to sell you have to include all ingredients from all bases.
Wonder if you used a metal skewer, and heated it like over the gas stove or something, or maybe left it sit in a jug of boiling/hot water. If that would let you do the feathering on top?
That might work. yes
Use activated charcoal for the black color you want.

I loved this!!! QUESTION: What was the liquid you poured into the colors? Was it alcohol? Also, the glitter...is it sugar based?
The spray was rubbing alcohol. It helps mix in the mica to the base. I don't think the glitter is sugar based. Just normal biodegradable glitter.
It is a fantastic lam from Egypt and I am very interested with your soap
Se le extraña!!!
Muchas gracias. lo estoy haciendo bien.

That is the trick i think, finding that perfect temp where the colors will not merge but stick together. Normally under 130F will be perfect for this in most bases, but check with your supplier first.
So does the suspending base allow for the swirls more so than regular premium clear?
Yes, for sure, it doesn't merge as much with colors.
Do you just copy the ingredients off the container for labeling? Ty!
The supplier of the base provides the base ingredients then I just add fragrance oil into it. But please check with your state and country laws. Each country is different.
Nice!!! What temperature did you pour the Stephenson base?
It would have been under 130F. I don't remember the exact temp.
@@DeanWilson thank you

I have never tried. I think so but I dont know how.
@@DeanWilson I just wanted to make it better for my friend, her grandson has psoriasis, Bless his little heart he's only 8
So jealous of how straight your bars are. My cuts are never that straight.
Practice makes perfect. Keep trying. Look down the blade rather than from an angel.
So you don’t mix the mica in alcohol at all
You can, either way is fine but if you want mix the color in quick then mica+rubbing alcohol is the best option.
Why didn't you use the purple skin in the mold... kind of like a wave? Push it to the middle!
