I’m in America and I always thought there was something wrong with me for wanting to be upfront about sex. I felt like if I didn’t say my intentions early on then I’m leading the girl on. She's merely checking out certain culture that is affiliated with young people and general attitudees and I like it however there is within certain groups of Iceland still the pressure to get married and have kids and be in a relationship. It is usually not talked about and is even more of taboo subject but it's there.

@@bunnystrasse Faithful? None of these people are in a relationship, that's the thing, once they settle I think it's just like in any other country. I think it's more positive that people stay single and fuck around than be in a relationship and constantly be unfaithful.
These people are missing out on one of the absolute best things in life: courtship. The process of meeting, getting to know each other, long conversations, that first holding hands, that first romantic kiss, the excitement and anticipation of when and where will you have sex for the first time. Sadly, Iceland has turned sex into the equivalent of having a cup of coffee. It seems boring, cold, sterile, and transactional.
Wait, so, because Icelanders are generally sexually liberated and don't frown upon casual sex, we don't have romance, excitement, nor connection? Your perspective on courtship seems too narrow and more informed by Hollywood movies than the lived realities of people here. Having sex just for fun early on in a relationship in no way precludes you from building upon it and making it into something magical.
Hell, I'd argue it is it's own form of courtship, just not the sort that you are personally comfortable with or interested in.

Maybe some people in very conservative areas of the country think this way, but I tend to think that in any city of reasonable size that you'll find lots of people engaging in casual relationships. Maybe not quite as casual (or at least not as straightforwardly) as in Iceland on average, but this Jensen guy doesn't sound like a typical American to me.
Blue Lagoon looks like a real mellow place. If I ever get a chance to visit Iceland, I'll keep these videos in mind. Dating in Iceland is different from dating in Miami. Great video beautiful!

I get it. She is only interviewing the young extroverted demographic and is basically putting out a bias view of how most people really are over there. This kind of culture where everyone just has sex no strings attached can be found everywhere. In the US it's called "friends with benefits". Those prices seemed to me quite high, so I checked the average monthly income of Icelanders which was 534,000 ISK (5,030 USD/4,290 EUR in 2017 ). Now it all makes sense!
My POV on this 2nd video. At 9:36 and onward, the bartender says "If it's gonna work out it will, if it won't...it won't." So...since Icelandic people are brutally honest, I'll be too. Things in life are NOT always "if it will, it will and if it won't it won't". That's absolutely narrow-minded, stupid and immature. Humans have the capability of showing Empathy, Understanding, Forgiveness (among other things), and these are necessary IF one loves a person and to have a good relationship. Life will throw many challenges that will test couples' love and capacity to show these qualities. Funny how they're so "open" but feel so awkward if asked to kiss (although dating!) in public!...????

Íslendingabók has many other features than just checking if you're related to whoever you're about to bang. Most people don't even use it for that (although you can check just to be sure). You can trace your ancestry back many many generations (as far back as the 14th century or something) see different statistics about your family and stuff; what names are the most common, who's the youngest and oldest member of your family and many other things. It's pretty common to check if you're related to people you know, friends, famous people, and your crush. It's pretty fun to find out you're 4th cousins with Björk or something like that.

Íslendingarbók aka the cousin app was originally a web-site created in 2004 that showed the relations for Icelandic people. It wasn't really an app for people to use when to have 1 night stand but eventually became that.

I was born in the wrong country. They have my personality traight forward personality that i have to always hide because people can't handle facts or thruth.
