"Milky Way" is a cover song from BoA with new arrangements, and that video was the first appearance from Wendy since her accident (like 1 and a half years RV without Wendy) and i do believed at the end of that song when they smiled at each others is just that they're happy to see Wendy healthy again :') I remembered thay i cried (in a happy way) when that video out 😭

I listened to every popular Kpop gg during the pandemic. I checked them all out (I was trapped in a single room apartment for weeks.) I'm not trying to be mean but other girl group albums sounded like high school projects after listening to Red Velvet's. It's the sound engineering, the way these women harmonize and sing in unison like 90s girl (and boy) bands. There's so much layering that you notice something new in a song after listening to it for umpteenth time. They're so so good!!!
Yep, not many GGs have b-sides that are with such excellent composition, multiple genres, with lot of hidden vocals and harmonies and give strong competition to becoming title tracks... Some of the other albums of various GGs I've heard over the years, straight sound like filler tracks just to sell physical albums :/
I love sm for that!! They work with such great producers (western and Korean ones) and their productions always sound so full, for all their groups. And then add the vocals of the girls and their different, beautiful and unique tones and you have masterpiece after masterpiece!
That's exactly what I saw frm them and to be said it many times... Idk how to but the song of them are really not typical kpop songs but literal kind of real music frm artist in western Girl group like pussycat dolls, destinys child, so on so forth even if u side with Little mix era all of them have the same magic touch. Maybe it's bcoz RV vocals are lot of layers to do, unlike som kpop grps nor GG out their that try to avoid that instead they make noise girl crush music and rap... For real when u herd RV music it feels like u listen to 2000's era artist songs even these days even if they makes new era type of song RV signature touch are there u cnt take nor replace that.

NOOOO I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS THE END, We need another week of this! I am so glad that you guys reacted to more of these all of the songs are INSANE and PHENOMENAL, like Would U has to be one of my favorites but you guys should have checked out the Acoustic Version of it because WOW they were all so stunning (sadly Joy wasn't there) and their Vocals were Amazing (not to mention the WenRene stares). I can't get enough of Rebirth and Milkshake I always start smiling when I hear them they both are so catchy and again the Vocals are absolutely insane. And their cover of Milky Way will always have a special place in my heart I am pretty sure it was their first performance right after Wendy got back from her hiatus and as you can see they are all glowing and smiling because all of them are back together and again not to mention the Vocals and visuals just WOW!! No, I noticed that too from a few people I know who before just knew RV as a vocal group but didn't really realize how true that is. Red Velvet are truly singers. They're a group who would choose singing over anything else even Seul who's a main and just a great dancer in general would give up dancing just to sing all her life. You wouldnt realize how much effort they put on recording their songs unless you listen to their whole discography and/or watch their recording behinds, they have for years have had say on their songs and how to record it, from the background vocals to the adlibs and the layerings. They're just amazing.
I was a K-pop fan during SNSD, 2NE1, BIG BANG, Shinee days. When MVs didn't come with subtitles; when skinny jeans were all the rage. I slowly lost interest and became a casual listener as time went on, as I age. But RV's Perfect Velvet album sucked me right in. (Nothing can top RV'S Holy Trinity) I was aware of the group and their songs prior to listening to the 2nd album. I know they had BIG hits but also misses. This was the time girl group songs started to climb and stay in the charts more so than boy groups'. And at that time RV had 2 to 3 title tracks on every Korean music charts but they weren't as notorious in terms of gaining international noise like Twice and BP. So, I guess that piqued my curiosity and went on a mini investigation. You might've come across comments saying RV is critically acclaimed. Music critics LOOOOOOVE RV's work. They've won at KMA. Billboard crowned them as the best idol group alive and Perfect Velvet as the favorite girl group album of all time. Their latest mini sits at #2 highest rated Kpop albums on Pitchfork (1st was a boy group album from 1992). There was a critic during Russian Roulette or Dumb Dumb era who pointed out that RVs appeal to the public might also be their fatal flaw: They don't repeat concepts. If you were obsessed with their recent release, I hate to break it to you, there won't be something like it again, at least not from RV. The girls said in an interview, If we don't like their new song, it's okay. We can come back when they release the next one. They understand that people have different tastes and they won't like everything they come out with. The article also mentioned how the group stood out from other girl groups because they don't come in flashy outfits and constantly do fan service on stage. RV came to perform as artists. And THAT sentiment hit the target. Joining the fandom never felt like a "must". Red Velvet as an entity never felt like a rabbit hole you SHOULD jump into. It doesn't feel like they want to hold you captive. And for the Kpop fandoms' cultish behavior nowadays this is surely a negative trait but for casual Kpop consumers it's just perfect. They rarely do fan service, their stage outfits sway more towards costumey. They don't follow up on their hit songs, which would be the smartest of ideas, but instead they hit you with something totally different for the next release. It's like at the end of the day what's important is people heard their songs and listen to them. That's it. (I would like to point out that out of all the Red Velvet songs, save for the latest one, Feel My Rhythm; they never put a Red Velvet tag on any of their lyrics. they don't say it. UNLIKE LITERALLY ALL KPOP GROUPS.) Though, I don't religiously consume everything RV, I still listen to their songs and new releases. I occasionally watch their MVs and music show encores (I prefer them singing live comfortably and in celebratory mood). I'm telling you, there won't be another Kpop group like RV ever again. In the long run, their core concept, that thing that probably caused them a bigger fan base and a bigger domestic and international success is what still makes people anticipate every RV comeback. Even in their 8th year they are still growing. I seriously can't wait for their projects this year. I'm hoping for a world tour so I can finally watch them live.
Anyone can kill it for one song or one performance; few groups can do so consistently; the fact that Red Velvet does so every time AND over such an extensive discography is unreal. I fell in love with their velvet side, and only after that did I really start 'listening' to their red side tracks. That's when I realized that they never 'just show up': their vocals and their arrangements are on full display on every track. Also: they didn't dominate during the "Psycho" era: Wendy fell almost 6 meters while rehearsing for an awards show 3 days after "Psycho" released. She was hospitalized for months and was unable to do any promotions for almost a year. Almost all the stages from that era are Yeri/Joy/Seulgi/Irene. That song was critically received and popular, but it didn't garner the global exposure it could have (or should have). There is this invite-only live performance hours after the release ua-cam.com/video/Pg7nBHXQCCA/v-deo.html (The reason the members seem so surprised by the fan chants is because the song was literally 3 hours old and the audience already knew the song and had come up with a fan chant) That's a large part of the reason behind Irene & Seulgi's "Monster"/"Naughty" sub unit - Wendy was unavailable.
Red Velvet are one of the most beautiful group in Kpop but still, their vocals is the thing that pulls you in the most. THIS IS HOW GOOD THEIR VOICES ARE 💗💛💙💚💜

IMHO Wendy is one of the best if not the best main vocalist from the 3rd generation GG, very close with Solar from Mamamoo while Seulgi I think is one of the best Lead vocalist from the 3rd generation. Joy also is a very strong lead vocalist which has a very distinctive vocal and very charming sounds. Irene N Yeri has rather a lovely low register that just add the final oomph especially when they are harmonizing. There's a show where they sang encore Bad Boy acapella without any music background since the audience request it and it was amazing.
SM did do a musical with its artists called “School Oz” with members from pretty much all their groups. Seulgi was one of them. And a lot of k-pop artists do musicals, not just dramas and movies.
That was such a strange time - I always got the impression that SM got their idols that weren't promoting at the time (like Yoona making a short appearance). The other sad thing was that they used One Fine Day (from the musical) to help promote the Coex Atrium, complete with SM idols showing people around - but Tao was in the original footage, so when he left, they had to reedit the video.

I watched a series of how Rebirth was made. Mystic Story and their mother company SM Ent. made a show where their artists were making a remakes of each others songs. RV did Rebirth and Mystic chose Dumb Dumb. Both songs turned out to be great. And Shindong from SuJu directed this MV (and many others).

For Milky Way, it was a project for BoA's 20th anniversary since her debut. Various SM artists including RV sang a new version of BoA's songs. Red Velvet sang Milky Way (u need to see the original version and see the difference, its amazing), this also marks as Wendy's comeback project/appearance with OT5 (all the members) after the accident. They all looked so happy, I wish I could go back go that day and just feel all the feels :'D

So glad you did this journey with Red Velvet videos. But it would be criminal if you didn't react to Perfect 10, Kingdom Come, Sunnyside Up, or Eyes Locked Hands Locked, Look (one of the few that has a dance practice vid). These are some of the best RV bsides which should have been title tracks. These will get you started, but this is just the tip of the iceberg for bsides. I mean, their title tracks are good, don't get me wrong, but their bsides are legendary.

I still think it's funny that Esosa was "not into girl groups" about the time they did Everglow's LaDiDa less than 2 years ago and now she's seeing groups like Red Velvet and Blackpink and doing series' based solely on them.
Revisited again, i think we just hv to be grateful and cherish that we have RV in our lifetime. I dunno id we can have this kind of vocalist group again in the future. They just don't produce this kind of group anymore.

The second video was the best. The vocals and the whole song are amazing. The first and third video were pretty good too, if not the greatest way to see what I've been practicing. The song on the first and third video is the best one I've heard. The song gets an A! From here on out it will never get any better or worse then the second video, unless you're looking at the more impressive first track.
Milkyway is a very lively song but reveluvs are crying the moment this was released because it's the first time we saw them as five singing in one place after a year and half of Wendy recovering for her accident.

It was not that long. It was for about 8 months. The accident happened in December 2019
@@JPLEYONKO4 it was 16 months, she didn’t officially comeback to the group until new years 2021, before that she was partially back for milky way.

NOOOO I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS THE END, We need another week of this! I am so glad that you guys reacted to more of these all of the songs are INSANE and PHENOMENAL, like Would U has to be one of my favorites but you guys should have checked out the Acoustic Version of it because WOW they were all so stunning (sadly Joy wasn't there) and their Vocals were Amazing (not to mention the WenRene stares). I can't get enough of Rebirth and Milkshake I always start smiling when I hear them they both are so catchy and again the Vocals are absolutely insane. And their cover of Milky Way will always have a special place in my heart I am pretty sure it was their first performance right after Wendy got back from her hiatus and as you can see they are all glowing and smiling because all of them are back together and again not to mention the Vocals and visuals just WOW!! No, I noticed that too from a few people I know who before just knew RV as a vocal group but didn't really realize how true that is. Red Velvet are truly singers. They're a group who would choose singing over anything else even Seul who's a main and just a great dancer in general would give up dancing just to sing all her life. You wouldnt realize how much effort they put on recording their songs unless you listen to their whole discography and/or watch their recording behinds, they have for years have had say on their songs and how to record it, from the background vocals to the adlibs and the layerings. They're just amazing.
I was a K-pop fan during SNSD, 2NE1, BIG BANG, Shinee days. When MVs didn't come with subtitles; when skinny jeans were all the rage. I slowly lost interest and became a casual listener as time went on, as I age. But RV's Perfect Velvet album sucked me right in. (Nothing can top RV'S Holy Trinity)
I was aware of the group and their songs prior to listening to the 2nd album. I know they had BIG hits but also misses. This was the time girl group songs started to climb and stay in the charts more so than boy groups'. And at that time RV had 2 to 3 title tracks on every Korean music charts but they weren't as notorious in terms of gaining international noise like Twice and BP. So, I guess that piqued my curiosity and went on a mini investigation.
You might've come across comments saying RV is critically acclaimed. Music critics LOOOOOOVE RV's work. They've won at KMA. Billboard crowned them as the best idol group alive and Perfect Velvet as the favorite girl group album of all time. Their latest mini sits at #2 highest rated Kpop albums on Pitchfork (1st was a boy group album from 1992). There was a critic during Russian Roulette or Dumb Dumb era who pointed out that RVs appeal to the public might also be their fatal flaw: They don't repeat concepts. If you were obsessed with their recent release, I hate to break it to you, there won't be something like it again, at least not from RV. The girls said in an interview, If we don't like their new song, it's okay. We can come back when they release the next one. They understand that people have different tastes and they won't like everything they come out with. The article also mentioned how the group stood out from other girl groups because they don't come in flashy outfits and constantly do fan service on stage. RV came to perform as artists. And THAT sentiment hit the target.
Joining the fandom never felt like a "must". Red Velvet as an entity never felt like a rabbit hole you SHOULD jump into. It doesn't feel like they want to hold you captive. And for the Kpop fandoms' cultish behavior nowadays this is surely a negative trait but for casual Kpop consumers it's just perfect. They rarely do fan service, their stage outfits sway more towards costumey. They don't follow up on their hit songs, which would be the smartest of ideas, but instead they hit you with something totally different for the next release. It's like at the end of the day what's important is people heard their songs and listen to them. That's it.
(I would like to point out that out of all the Red Velvet songs, save for the latest one, Feel My Rhythm; they never put a Red Velvet tag on any of their lyrics. they don't say it. UNLIKE LITERALLY ALL KPOP GROUPS.)
Though, I don't religiously consume everything RV, I still listen to their songs and new releases. I occasionally watch their MVs and music show encores (I prefer them singing live comfortably and in celebratory mood). I'm telling you, there won't be another Kpop group like RV ever again. In the long run, their core concept, that thing that probably caused them a bigger fan base and a bigger domestic and international success is what still makes people anticipate every RV comeback. Even in their 8th year they are still growing. I seriously can't wait for their projects this year. I'm hoping for a world tour so I can finally watch them live.
Anyone can kill it for one song or one performance; few groups can do so consistently; the fact that Red Velvet does so every time AND over such an extensive discography is unreal.
I fell in love with their velvet side, and only after that did I really start 'listening' to their red side tracks. That's when I realized that they never 'just show up': their vocals and their arrangements are on full display on every track.
Also: they didn't dominate during the "Psycho" era: Wendy fell almost 6 meters while rehearsing for an awards show 3 days after "Psycho" released. She was hospitalized for months and was unable to do any promotions for almost a year. Almost all the stages from that era are Yeri/Joy/Seulgi/Irene. That song was critically received and popular, but it didn't garner the global exposure it could have (or should have).

That's a large part of the reason behind Irene & Seulgi's "Monster"/"Naughty" sub unit - Wendy was unavailable.
Red Velvet are one of the most beautiful group in Kpop but still, their vocals is the thing that pulls you in the most.

Yessss, one of my favorites
IMHO Wendy is one of the best if not the best main vocalist from the 3rd generation GG, very close with Solar from Mamamoo while Seulgi I think is one of the best Lead vocalist from the 3rd generation. Joy also is a very strong lead vocalist which has a very distinctive vocal and very charming sounds. Irene N Yeri has rather a lovely low register that just add the final oomph especially when they are harmonizing. There's a show where they sang encore Bad Boy acapella without any music background since the audience request it and it was amazing.
Given your taste in music from what you've shared I would definitely say that "I Just" would be something you'd want to listen to from Red Velvet.
SM did do a musical with its artists called “School Oz” with members from pretty much all their groups. Seulgi was one of them. And a lot of k-pop artists do musicals, not just dramas and movies.
That was such a strange time - I always got the impression that SM got their idols that weren't promoting at the time (like Yoona making a short appearance). The other sad thing was that they used One Fine Day (from the musical) to help promote the Coex Atrium, complete with SM idols showing people around - but Tao was in the original footage, so when he left, they had to reedit the video.

I watched a series of how Rebirth was made. Mystic Story and their mother company SM Ent. made a show where their artists were making a remakes of each others songs. RV did Rebirth and Mystic chose Dumb Dumb. Both songs turned out to be great. And Shindong from SuJu directed this MV (and many others).

For Milky Way, it was a project for BoA's 20th anniversary since her debut. Various SM artists including RV sang a new version of BoA's songs. Red Velvet sang Milky Way (u need to see the original version and see the difference, its amazing), this also marks as Wendy's comeback project/appearance with OT5 (all the members) after the accident. They all looked so happy, I wish I could go back go that day and just feel all the feels :'D

So glad you did this journey with Red Velvet videos. But it would be criminal if you didn't react to Perfect 10, Kingdom Come, Sunnyside Up, or Eyes Locked Hands Locked, Look (one of the few that has a dance practice vid). These are some of the best RV bsides which should have been title tracks. These will get you started, but this is just the tip of the iceberg for bsides. I mean, their title tracks are good, don't get me wrong, but their bsides are legendary.
