Roches Duprat - Gouf de Capbreton

Diving the "Gouf de Capbreton". This under water canyon is 3'000m deep and we are diving the edge close to the coast where max depth is only 600m.
This is a unique submarine canyon formed by the spreading of two tectonic plates 20 million years ago during the Cretaceous, in the extension of the old Adour riverbed that once flowed into Capbreton, before the river was diverted to Bayonne in 1578 by the engineer Louis de Foix.
The Gouf offers a unique ecosystem where you can encounter abysmal creatures.
The Cap Gouf Exploration team is conducting scientific research to discover, documents and better understand this ecosystem.
