    The skin of the white sausage is like rubber. NOT meant for eating, though it wont harm you, if you do.

    Im from Bavaria. I love Weiswurst but I have to say that tourists probably eat more of it than locals. 😅 I mean, who eats so much sausage for breakfast in everyday life? I would say most Bavarians eat it maybe 4-to 5 times a year on special occasions with friends when they have a lot of time for brunch. The fact that you only eat it in the morning is a rule from very old times when the sausage went bad by lunchtime without refrigeration. Nowadays, of course, nobody has to stick to this rule, but somehow it is still practiced in society. But this is by no means a ‘normal’ breakfast here.

    Obazda, the original Bavarian specialty, is a hearty pretzel spread, handmade from mature Camembert, cream cheese, butter and plenty of paprika powder. Also popular in beer gardens, Obazda is enjoyed all year round in Bavaria and goes perfectly with pretzels and Bavarian snacks.
    It is also available in the supermarket here in Cologne / North Rhine-Westphalia.

    Munich is a great city. In general, Bavaria is our most beautiful federal state. Bavaria is something special and the people there are also special. They don't particularly love us Northern Germans, but I always enjoy being there.

    Well, there literally are pretzel-shaped sweet pastries in Germany, like „Vanillebrezeln“ (dough for those is similar to the one for doughnuts, but with a vanilla flavor, and they aren’t dipped in lye before baking… or… actually, they might even be fried like doughnuts… haven’t seen or eaten those for quite some time…)

    Yep potato dumplings are very bouncy and sticky because of the starch. How the crutons get in the middle? Simple, when you form the ball with the dumpling dough you just put them in and form the ball 😊

    4:ß1 THE " CHEESE CREAM " is correctly called ein OBAZTER, a mix of BRIE AND BLUE CHEESE
    a very traditional Bavarian Chessse
    2:57 THECLASSICAL WHITE SAUSAGE is indeed made from veil. But sugermarkets often sell a cheaper version done with pork meat mixed in and also an artificial casing
    Fun Fact. THE TRADITION of the WHITE SAUSAGE dates back to the Jewish Community in Munich wanted to eat sausages like their Christian neighbors. But since ssausages are mostly done of pork meat the Hebrew Community of Munich came up with this cosher version
    23:32 SCHWEISNSHAXE is the same like the North German EISBEIN.
    In old days the bare bones had been reworked to became the blades for Ice Skates.

      @@Pjalphareacting The skin of the white sausage is really thick and tough like rubber. You'd probably still be chewing on it the day after tomorrow 😂
      You can either cut the sausage in half and then dip the individual pieces first in sweet mustard and then suck them out of the skin. Or you can do like the lady and remove the skin completely and then eat individual pieces with the mustard. The easiest way to remove the skin is to cut the sausage lengthways, then the skin can be easily peeled off.

    • @PotsdamSenior
      @PotsdamSenior 2 місяці тому +1

      Not the only reason! Much of German cuisine originates from very poor, very rural people. Have some hard stale bread left over? You can't just throw it away, so you put it inside a dumpling, or grind it up and put it around the extremely expensive and rare piece of meat for example. You can't have food waste when you struggle to make ends meet!
