Some people sing the note as either 'Ri' or 'Re'. It originated from Sanskrit word Vrishabham , which became Rishabham and in Hindi Rishabh. So the short form is either Ri or Re. In western music it is sung as Re.
In Karnatic music system, most people sing it as Ri. I tend to sing it mostly as Ri. Ditto with Da or Dha originated from Daivatham.. Some people sing it as Dha some as Da.. In western music it is sung as 'la'.. The point I'm trying to make is, it is important to reach the correct shruthi or pitch.. Sa Re(Ri) Ga Ma Pa Da Ni or Do Re Me Fa So La Ti are just labels.
