Loch Lomand is a sad Scottish folk song about two friends after the war; one to be executed. Perfect for these two friends who in addition to loving metal music and doing it perfectly also teamed up to do this acoustic song exquisitely.
“That hair”!!! 😊. But his voice and the emotions he creates gave me goosebumps immediately! What a skill he has developed!!! My goodness. Thanks for this reaction
WOW! This is the first Dan Vasc cover that I've seen that isn't in his garage.... AND it's very well done! Like all his covers that I've seen.... he never ceases to impress!
Dan never disappoints- I know Metal is his preferred musical genre, but his voice is just too beautiful and this type of music showcases that quality ❤ Thank you for reacting to this beautifully done ballad.
They have been friends since childhood and started their band Fearless with Davi and Giovanni (their drummer)! Giovanni is an magnificent drummer! Dan and Gabriel do many projects and songs together! This song makes me very melancholy and you just have to love him to pieces!❤❤❤🧔🏻♀️🫡🎶♎️ remember to add Birthday wishes to Dan on October 14th!!! And keep mentioning the goal of 1mil subs. We need to get him to 1mil for Christmas 🎄
Same here, and on up through high school, too. We had a wonderful music teacher. She taught all the classes...from kindergarten through 12th grade. It was in Old Valdez, Alaska, which varied between 1,000 - 500 residents the whole time I lived there (from 1951 - 1976). So we all learned really good musical habits from her, and she kept us going onward and upward every year, from the time we were five. She LOVED to do old traditional songs, from anywhere. 😀
Love this, I am Scottish and visit Loch Lomond now and again. It really is a beautiful place and you can take a boat trip round the Loch. Love your channel. Best wishes from Bonnie Scotland.
Hello again Maria 🤗 Don't worry, you're not the only one loving the manliness, it's very refreshing these days 😂 Gabriel is his longtime childhood friend and also his bandmate. Spyglass Inn is their acoustic folk music project. The first song they did is "The Bard's Song", also very beautiful. They shot this in Minas Gerais, which is the state they live in 🇧🇷
Agreed about the manliness. It's refreshing. I'm very thankful that I live in South Dakota, where (basically speaking) men are still men (and many of them are farming the same farms their fathers farmed) and women are strong women who love their strong men (and vice versa). Both of my parents were born only 45 minutes from where my husband and I (and our youngest daughter, her husband, and their eight children) now live. We have lots of testosterone in this household, since six of the children are boys (and three are teenagers). The girls are growing up to be just as strong as their mom and grandma, because we teach them that way. We homeschool them all, and it's a great life on our small hobby farm (no crops other than a kitchen garden, but LOTS of chickens, ducks, geese, some pheasants, a few turkeys, and some guinea fowl. Oh...and cats. 😀 It's a wonderful place to live.
@@valerie_k24 It really is. It's where my parents both were raised. Then in 1951 (when I was two) they moved us to Valdez, Alaska. Alaska, for the most part, is very much like South Dakota, with strong people who help each other. My brother still lives in Valdez. The town is quite a bit larger than it was when my mom and I and my first four kids moved away in 1976, but Gary says it's still pretty much the same, people-wise, as it's always been, and that's really good! 😀
Thank you for reacting to this one! It’s one of my top 10 favourites and it’s so rare to find a reaction for it. Because of this song and Amazing Grace I’m starting to learn to play the Chromatic Harmonica.(Given to me by my Dad for my birthday this year!) The harmonica is the only instrument Dan feels confident enough in to play for UA-cam. He owns other kinds of instruments to play just for fun and mess around on.
Dan's website says the other guy is Gabriel Belozi, and that Spyglass Inn aoppers to be what Dan called this particular collaboration. Far from heavy metal, this is actually an extremely traditional performance of this Scottich classic. And of course, it's perfect.
I see mountains behind there... mountains characteristic of the south of the state of Minas Gerais, in the interior of Brazil. That must be it, most likely.
I had to look at Gabriel twice before I realized that he is the amazing guitarist from Dan's band, Fearless --- and his childhood friend. Beautiful performance.
Hi there, first time I come across your channel and first time I hear the name Dan Vasc. Yes, he has a great voice and I will definitely search for more videos from him. But, and please forgive me for saying so - he didn't do the song any justice in converting it into a pop ballad. That's taking the heart and the soul out of this song. What I mean by this will become obvious if you're willing to take 13 minutes out of your time and listen to two versions of this song I will link to at the end of this comment. The first one is to a live version of this song performed by the Scottish band Runrig with their then lead singer Donnie Munro. Runrig put rock on this old celtic folk song without cutting any roots. I was fortunate enough to see them live (though not at that venue) and it was one of _the_ defining evenings of my life in regards to music, although I'm German and don't have a single drop of Scottish blood running through my veins. The second one is from another Scottish band, The Corries. They performed it in the original intended classic celtic fashion that is simply heart wrenching. Please do yourself that favour and listen to those two versions, so you'll be able to comprehend my rather harsh critique from above and don't think I just hate on Dan Vasc. I really don't! I'm just trying to offer some perspective in honour to this song. RUNRIG - Loch Lomond (Live In Balloch): you tube com/watch?v=CHu0h9XaNcg The Corries - Loch Lomond: you tube com/watch?v=GXGVFJqSqqg Oh, and of course I subscribed to your channel and will scan though your impressive amount of content💛. Dan has said that, although he plays the instruments on his covers, he doesn't play well enough to actually play one in concert. Guess that's what Fearless is for. And his guest guitarists, like our dear, headless Victor. 😊
Manly is good. 😀 Gabriel Belozi is Dan's and Davi's good friend, who plays any type of guitar necessary within the setting of their band Fearless, except that Davi plays bass. Davi can also play other guitars. He also plays keys, and so does Dan, at least to a degree. A couple of his quite older videos show him with the keyboard when he was just starting to record. He's mentioned it in a couple of videos I heard, as well. I've just read an article where Dan talks about the guitar question. Here is the question and answer on that article. * * * * * BC: When you say you do your own instruments, do you actually play them in the recording booth or is it done on the computer via music software? D: It depends. If it’s something easy enough, I can just record myself on the guitar. But when I come up with an arrangement that surpasses my own ability to play and I’m in a hurry, I use the computer, especially MIDI Guitar. It’s a long process. * * * * * Couple more quotes from the same interview...different interviewer... * * * * * T: What type of guitars, amps, and effect pedals do you use? D: I use a really basic Condor guitar. I don’t really use anything physical beyond that. I just plug my guitar in and I simulate the rest with Guitar Rig 5. That is really rare for me to do as, more and more, I’m outsourcing my guitar work, but when I do, that’s pretty much how I work. T: Who is your favorite superhero? D: I dunno if he counts as a superhero, but Zorro! He was the inspiration for Batman, by the way! * * * * * Davi plays several other different instruments (including harmonica, as does Dan), and his knowledge of music theory is almost overwhelming! You should check out his channels. He has two--both involved with gaming. He composes GORGEOUS game music, and has done it for companies worldwide. He also sings with the band sometimes, as does Gabriel. Dan writes music, too, but mainly he's the lyricist. When talking about this outing he and Gabriel took, in order to record Loch Lomond in the proper type of setting, he says that before this video, he had never recorded anything outdoors. Plus they didn't carry any huge amount of equipment with them. One thing that they both really enjoyed, was being able to just walk on the trail and relax. He also said that it really felt good to sit and play the harmonica, out in the open air. He has never said (except for in his April 1, 2022 April Fool's Joke, that he isn't making more videos. Since he played that PRANK, he's added "Amazing Grace" on April 7, 2023, and "Where the Eagles Fly" on May 12, 2023, to the videos he's made. He and Ricardo Confessori did that project together. Ricardo wrote the music, and Dan wrote the lyrics. He DID cut back on how often he was making videos. He had been making them very regularly for a while, but that ended over two years ago. He's still put out videos, but not nearly as often. Spyglass Inn isn't a group...it's an acoustic project. There are three songs in it. The first one is "The Bard's Song." The second one is "Loch Lomond." The third one is "Lord of the Rings." I'm now headed to watch the other three of your reactions I picked up a couple of hours ago. 😀
He is, plus he's working on a full set of original songs, and he wants to do a full album of metalized traditional hymns, beginning with "How Great Thou Art." The "no videos" thing is still people getting mixed up about his April 1, 2022 prank. He isn't doing as MANY videos as he was pushing out there, for a while. He says that got really crazy, but he also has said he will never stop making videos.
Some people have been saying that, but it's not true. He's been talking about all of the new stuff that he's working like crazy on, now. He has not said a single thing about NOT making any more videos. There's original music being completed, and the MANOWAR album is getting closer to being done. Plus Dan has been wanting to make a full "traditional hymns--metalized" album, for quite some time. He says that he will probably make "How Great Thou Art" as the first song. He's talked about all of those things quite a few times, now, and not once have I heard him say a single word about not making videos any longer. On the other hand, I've seen a ton of comments from people who THINK he isn't, because he's later than they think he should have been, in creating the "next great addition." AHA! I just slapped my forehead. I think some people are just now seeing Dan's April 1 2022 video and STILL not understanding that it was his APRIL FOOLS JOKE in 2022. Here's the link. When you go to it, please read the PINNED COMMENT. Also, take note of the date when the video was posted (April 1, 2022). Then take note of the date when "Amazing Grace" was posted (April 7, 2023). He just has a terrific sense of humor. READ THE CAPTION ON THE SCREEN, WHEN THE MUSIC BEGINS! ua-cam.com/video/8GXzCVIvMH0/v-deo.htmlsi=GbzLJAJWJGV_F1Fy Also, you can get a really good picture about Dan's sense of humor, from watching his Q&A videos. Again...Dan hasn't said anything about NOT making videos except for that one APRIL 1, 2022 video, for which he PINNED his comment that ends, "...To the dismay of the enemies of Actual Heavy Metal, happy April 1st, you fools!!!!!" If you don't understand what "Rick-Rolled" means, do some digging. It will involved Rick Astley.
