I'm really curious how steven spielberg will handle the geek culture in Ready Player One.. there are quite few similarities in terms of the games which are being played.
It's interesting he mentions Inside Out, The thought did cross my mind while opening this vid "Hang on, why is he catching up with this and not Inside Out?" Really enjoyed Robbie Collin's review, but would like to know Mark's thoughts
ThisAlbino He's the best thing on arguably the best show on TV, that should be enough. He goes all-out in everything he does. And he was the best thing about Pixels, which isn't saying much. He at least looked like he put some effort in to try and salvage the wreckage
The fact that it's boring doesn't forgive it it's hatefulness, because people will still see it. People just see what is on at the cinema, because they have work and kids and don't have the sort of time some have to shop around, they just see what's on at the big cinema. I mean it's not a small movie.
Got to say in quite a rare occurrence I'm disappointed with the Doctor in choosing to watch Pixels. Entertainment sure is a great source as to why I religiously watch`your reviews but my main reasoning for consistently watching them is to have more insight in the films. I saw 'The Gift' and thought Robbie Collins did a great review on the film and was excited to hear what the good Doctor had to say but instead I'm left with a video of how there was a film which very few people cared about and had nothing to say on it. If that was the case then surely from the recommendations given should you of not watched 'The Gift' which majority of the posts were for? Apparently not, instead you were treated like a monkey with people poking sticks at you and saying, 'Go on, give us one of your rants'. Instead of adding attention towards this stupid film where people will be influenced by this review to say, 'I'll go and see it to see how stupid it is' why not pay for something that deserves your money. At the end of the day Adam Sandler is the one laughing as he doesn't give a crap about anybodies opinions, he's happy to get £10 for every shitty review out there. Your reviews should influence people to go see good films that haven't the platform like Pixels, not add to the exclusivity of films with smaller platforms.
+Alan Breslin Hi Alan. Mark made a special effort to watch Pixels only because it was the number one in the top ten, so he wanted to be able to discuss it.
+Anon Maxima He stated previously to this video for the viewers of his videos to advice him on what to watch. Nothing was said about a top ten film so I stand by my previous comment. I'm a big fan of Mark Kermode's and still religiously watch his videos but if you were gonna review whatever was at number one then why make a whole video about missing out on films and then getting advice about what to watch. My point was made not to be cynical but more frustration from a fans point of view. It really doesn't matter now but it shows the quality of his reviews for me to get this frustrated.
I sort of agree, but given both some of the gender politics present in this movie (or lack thereof) and the recent info from Rose McGowan about what an audition sheet for a Sandler film included - there is more than enough reason to be annoyed by this film. They turned a woman into a trophy for a man, it is possibly the most clearly offensive thing that has shown up in a movie in the last ten years!
opsin Meh i think you are overreacting. Not everything ever has to be politically correct,a women can be a trophy for a man,a men can be a trophy for a women or for a homosexual man or watever as long as you make it funny and don't say that all women are trophies and so on and so forth.
Fair point. I was just surprised he gave Sandler a pass, particularly when he has even more offensive sounding fair to come. To be honest I'm only offended by the fact that he gets paid millions to look bored.
Glad to see you back, and VERY glad to see you caught up with this.
Ahhhh I have so missed Mark and Simon. Glad to have them back :)
I'm really curious how steven spielberg will handle the geek culture in Ready Player One.. there are quite few similarities in terms of the games which are being played.
And he's back
Mark, are you going to review Fantastic 4? We would appreciate that when you come back from holiday you review the films you missed. Thanks!
+Nicky Thompson No one needs to review Fan4stic. They just need to quietly shoot it in the head.
I'm really glad he caught up with this. I was hoping to hear his thoughts about this..."film".
It's interesting he mentions Inside Out, The thought did cross my mind while opening this vid "Hang on, why is he catching up with this and not Inside Out?" Really enjoyed Robbie Collin's review, but would like to know Mark's thoughts
I saw the poster for this and the old gamer in me really wanted this to be good. Oh well.
I loved Pixels. I just cannot get my head around the slatings it gets
It's the casual sexism for me. Other than that it's pretty fun
Since when has Peter Dinklage been this paragon of acting skill that Mark describes him as? I always just thought he was average.
steve cheevers Great in Death At A Funeral too

ThisAlbino the station agent
Why did people send him there?
There's so much interesting.
Do you just want rants?
+PauLtus B I don't want to say yes because it's such an obvious and slightly childish answer.
But yes. Yes we do.
MainlineDnB I knew it...
should have seen 'The Gift'. :)
i am so sorry kermode.
Mark uses the word "rubbish" *sooooooo* much. Just saying ;-).
***** Oh rubbish ;

The only Adam Sandler film that I have laughed was Billy Madison. He's just cashing in the cheques now.
Am I the only one that was struck by the fact that he seems to be patting himself on he back for "not even mad bro" about a movie?

I wish someone would mention that this film basically copied an episode of futurama

+Alan Breslin I'm glad your assumptions about the doctors motives were proven false.

Haha, ight ight, true that, well stated.
Should of saw the Gest.
I had to walk out. Bad bad bad film.
Pixels isn't great, but Fantastic Four is worse

opsin Agree with most of your points. Disagree with all the replies. However, don't say "clearly the most offensive thing" when A Serbian Film exists.

Anyone else enjoy Pixels? I thought it was a god film lol
