    The only info i found useful so far for installing ROS on rasberry pi great job. The "color" of the video is also "angry searchers" friendly which i loved it .Keep it up

      Note: I had to replace ros-foxy-desktop with ros-humble-desktop for it to find a package.

    I just want to add to this video, if you don't have Ethernet cable you can use wifi by add network file in the ssd card and then install it in your raspberry pi

    hey Kevin, I am really really new to this Robotic world and don't know much about programming, etc... love the tutorial, it's a dumb question. Do I have to plug the raspberry pi into another screen so I can follow this tutorial?

      You can setup the pi to use VNC and you can then connect to it using a VNC viewer. I’ll add this to my show idea list

    Ubuntu 22.04 for Raspberry Pi is the one that recommends ubuntu as a server now, should i download that one?

    • @kevinmcaleer28
      @kevinmcaleer28  2 роки тому +1

      I’d check the recommendation from ROS.org for the release of ROS (1 or 2) that you want to run, it changes with each release so I’m being a bit generic here!

    Great tutorial! can you use ubuntu linux and program the GPIOs of the raspberry? Is it as straight forward as when using rasbpian OS?
    What about using rasbpian and ROS?

    Hi Sir, I'm watching from Batam Island.
    So the point is...
    Q : is it possible if I buy a Raspberry Pi 400 then install OS Ubuntu 20.04 for run ROS?
    Q : does it not require large memory space to run ROS? because I know a Raspberry Pi have not large memory space.
    Thanks you for sharing your knowledge

    Thank you for the tutorial, the most was working, but I don't get the Virtual Box connection to the Rasperry running. I don't really understand the multicast configuration. Did you use a network bridge in vbox?

      yes you can, server and desktop versions are the exact same underneath. Desktop just gives you a more traditional desktop that is easier to handle if you don't know CLI.

    Hello. Thanks for good tutorial. Can install ROS on raspberry pi 2+? Q

    • @kevinmcaleer28
      @kevinmcaleer28  2 роки тому

      ROS requires a lot of memory to run, so you 'could' get it to run on a raspberry pi 2, but you'd need a whooping virtual memory file on an attached ssd as that would kill your SD card (ask me how I know!)

    I've tried a few tutorials now. I was really looking forward to yours but it's not working for me either.

      @@christophersenters2998 So when you say shuts off - does it power off and reboot, or does it stay in the command line mode? It might be a faulty SD card (I've had so many go wrong on me - I only use Sandisk or Samsung SD cards now)

      @@kevinmcaleer28 it starts booting, gets to "starting kernal" until just after it displays a date " January 1 1970 ", then begins loading or initializing [ok] in green.
      It does quite a few of those [ok] very quickly, hard for me to see. Then [failed] something ab a command from kernel command line, [DEPEND] command from kernel
      A bunch of [ok] then shuts down, and does not reboot.
      I've tried a handful of SD cards, brands and sizes. I have tried the version directly available from the RPi installer, and also the "custom" route by download and chosing that.
      64 bit version, as advised.
      I'm using a Mac to write the sd card and have had several other OS's work. So I'm quite puzzled.

      @@christophersenters2998 and how much ram does the Raspberry Pi 4 have? I’ve got a couple of raspberry pi 4s - one has a fault where none of the USB ports work (and never have), could be a faulty pi?
