Diana Krall adds to the Mancini magic on this number. I grew up with this stuff in the Fifties and Sixties - the best of times!
I've just listened to this on another post so I'll make the same comment. "It doesn't get any better than this".
The virtually unknown singer Sue Raney from the fifties does a gorgeous treatment of this mancini classic. Dianna's treatment is gorgeous!
Diana Krall has the best piano chops going. A new thickness to her pipes. Totally nice.
Krall is a great jazz pianist (trained in part by jazz great Jimmy Rowles), but she is not playing the piano on this tune--Dave Grusin is playing the piano here.

Thank goodness Krall is keeping this kind of music and these classic compositions by Mancini and others alive. I fear in a generation or two, they will all be basically gone in a digital dustbin. Seems modern audiences cannot discern what they think elevator music is from jazz and sophisticated arranging. Time marches on.

This is my favorite rendition of 'Dreamsville'. Love the sultry voice and the jaunty rhythm---the bass line is slammin', the guitar is hot, and the piano is out of this world. And yes, give the drummer some props.

You know Jazz is generally happy and hopeful and sometimes even funny but never is it depressing. A lot of music can put you in this over-emotional fantasy. Be careful when you go there. I love the maturity and reality of Jazz!
