I may agree there, I love this song so much and the video is KILLER. A lot of people like pt 2 better, I love them both equally for their individual brilliance ❤
i’m a millennial too. i have experienced the numbness too. how could we not? but things are getting so bad. they’re taking away basic human right after basic human right. we can’t just put all our hope on the next generation. the time to fight back is now, and we need as many people that care as possible. also the end of this video i believe is a nod to the climate change activists that have set themselves on fire.
If being a climate change activist is against spraying toxic chemicals in the sky and poisoning our land, water and food. As well as GMO, bioengineering our food and putting hydrogenated oil, high fructose corn syrup and many others in all processed food I guess I am one as well. Being forced to take jabs or lose your job is another one. Turning a blind eye to China who build tremendous coal factories with no filtering restrictions, allowing the toxic dirty waste go into the air and water is a slight problem. They will think about having some restrictions in 2030 and the world powers are just fine with that. See China owns everyone, so they do as they please. But if they are worried about having to much Carbon dioxide from man then they can get bent. It is about power and control. You are the carbon the top elites want to get rid of and they are doing a great job.
PS..don't get me started about trashing land to mine Lithium and cobalt. When they are finished getting these materials dug out the entire area looks like a nuclear bomb went off. The conditions for the slaves that dig this shit up are horrendous. But the sleazy elites are pushing the electric car, it is disgusting.
Elder Millennial here, too. The amount of "blame it on the millennials" op-eds I've seen have made me rage so much. Money Game 1 & 2, and Crucify Your Culture puts it all out on the table and says "Oi! Listen 'ere!"
I believe the setting himself and the "money bag" man on fire is symbolism for burning the system down and himself ..because again he's admitting to being part of the problem. He's speaking out on CRONIE Capitalism. This is what we have now.. America and the West have forgotten capitalisms beauty because we allowed governments and businesses to corrupt it.
Wow. This comment was made 2 months ago. And this keep getting worse. I’m Gen X. I completely get it. We can’t put all our hopes on Gen Z. But man… what a crappy world we’re leaving for them. We all need to realize we’re being played against each other. It’s all of our responsibility to “rage against the dying of that light.”
I think Ren represents the government, and the hostage is us the people. Keep us blind and in fear, but then give us eyes near the end to see through a veil, our own demise. Ren (the system) then chooses not to destroy the people, but to end it self I stead. Great reaction
There are so many layers to the relationship between Ren and the "Sackman" (played by Romain Axisa). The sackman could be a politician, or a representation/place holder for Consumerism/Consumers, or a representation of Ignorance, or... ? Likewise, is Ren "just" crazy? The representation of Consumerism/Imperialism? The average person who is aware, but turns to self-imolation out of helplessness? Something else? The open-endedness is a lot of the power of the piece.
For me, it does not matter who the Sackman is (first time around I thought he would remove the mask and it would also be Ren...), the point is: Ren is SAYING all the right stuff, while DOING the wrong, hence the moment of "pointing the mirror at himself" leads to the realization so horrible that he decides the only way to end the evil is to end his life...
Ren is a great actor. His music his ideas, how it shows what he is thinking and needs to share it. He is amazing and I wish I could adopt him. :) He is a bit older than my eldest grandson, yet still younger than my two kids. Do you think he would mind? Just kidding of course. Seriously I love him and I can't go a day without at one song by Ren, even if I have heard it many many times.
I don’t have nearly enough information to answer. I’d defiantly be open to talking about it. Would you be interested in having that conversation over voice or video chat? It might make a really interesting video or podcast. Please know I mean what i say sincerely. Think about it and, if you’re interested, please send me an email: brandonscott@thatsnotacting.com
Great reaction m8! To me this speaks of the fight to wake people up, to call out the injustice and hypocrisy, to bring about change. But that fight can lead to a person becoming something just as bad as that which they are fighting. As Nietzsche put it: "Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster" - You can see that dawning realisation on Ren's face - brilliant acting! I may be way off base but it is a masterpiece regardless
"Thank God for Gen Z." I totally agree. I'm raising two of them, and they and their cohort are such smart, compassionate people! It's an honor to know them. This is a hard video to watch, though. Part 2 is worth watching.
I just found your channel today and have been sitting at my computer watching all of your Ren reactions! It is refreshing to watch someone so honest and open about your feelings about the songs as well as the wisdom you provide/a different way of looking at things. I might just sit here for another for another hour or 2 and dive in to your other content! Thank you for sharing your insight and love of music and the arts with us all! 🎶💜
@tnae We did it. He did it. He is No1 in tje UK album cjarts beating Rick Astley with a self funded and produced album. The Renegades came through. Desperately waiting for Money Game Part 3 (once youve done Part 2!). Masterpieces.
It took the 186 tries to get this one take. The last scene made me think of the Buddhist monk who immolated himself during the Vietnam war in protest. Ren turned the mirror on himself.
This is the only one of Ren's songs I actually don't like very much and I think it's in part because the video is so confronting. I love literally everything else he does. Please keep going with Ren, money game part 2 is damn clever! Would love to see you do some of the covers with the big push for his performance energy. The I shot the sheriff/ road to zion/hip.hop mash up and Warpigs are both fabulous
As a Gen Xer who left school in a northern English town gutted by Thatcherism and just in time for the collapse of the housing market I empathise with your millennial sense of disillusionment
GenXer here. You hear SO MUCH hate spewed at GenZ. (And millennials). Every generation razzes the next but I’ve NEVER seen so many people actively root against our youth. It’s insane to me. Few things piss me off quicker. I’m with you 100%… I’m hopeful. If anyone can save us, it’ll be YOU millennials and GenZ. Y’all are just DONE with peoples bullshit… DONE with the whole idea of “we need to respect other people’s opinions if we expect them to respect ours” (that’s how I was raised). NO… we DO NOT have to respect people’s opinions when they use it to cause direct harm to others. NO… we DO NOT need to respect people’s hate. That’s bullshit. I haven’t given up on Millennials… don’t give up on yourself either. You got this. We got this. You just added one more reason why this has become my new favorite reaction channel. ☮️
It's a great video, especially the reference to the Monk who self-immolated in protest about the corrupt government during the Vietnam war.
Ren has said that this is his favorite video, the one he's most proud of.
I may agree there, I love this song so much and the video is KILLER. A lot of people like pt 2 better, I love them both equally for their individual brilliance ❤
My fav hands down
I love your reactions - you're an emotional guy and it shows. "Rage against the dying of the light" - our last defiant howl
It's wild that you said that over a year ago. about 2wks ago he showed his new back tattoo and that is the poem written out around the design.

My mom is 70 and I introduced her to his songs and all she had to say was "Its never going to change. Who will stop this?"
Ren can do no wrong, he's a beautiful genius with a wonderful soul. Love everything he's ever done! Thanks for a great reaction 😊

Can't wait for part 2. Great reaction.

@@jacks9624 awesome breakdown!
I believe that Sackman represents an immigrant.

Ren says he's not acting. All the characters he plays are actually different sides of him.
It’s funny. That’s exactly what real acting is 👍🏼
@@tnae I've acted as a member of a non dysfunctional family in a scene. But I've never experienced that. What is that?

Left and right we sleep in the middle.

I was in the Livestream and had a blast.
Ren, seems to ba a master of the unknown.
Pt 2 is good too.
"Thank God for Gen Z."

Thanks for subbing!

Thank you for adding your light to the world. ❤
Thanks for your reaction to this fantastic video. Ren always moves the soul.
The self immolation was in respect of the Buddhist monks who did this act as a form of protest.

That live chat was so awesome. It's so nice to see bits of it pop up over time!
Thank you for another great reaction!
My pleasure!!
Money game 3 has just been released.
Money Game Part 2 is even better.
I love this- bleak but true
I agree
Interesting that in this I saw Ren representing the “game”. When the captives could actually see, the game destroyed itself.

This is not political, it's just facts. Sad. I thought I was a critical thinker but perhaps we're all sheep except for the billionaires perhaps
I love Ren, but I'm not taking a history lesson from him.
First!
