We explore an abandoned house that sits beside the sea, behind years of overgrowth it hides, a decaying home with strange contents.
Upon entry we are greeted by police tape across the front porch, as we enter we find a creepy doll sitting on the chaise lounge.
A voodoo doll lies on the dining table, a mummified cat on the kitchen floor.
The rotting bedroom has a witches dress hung on the wardrobe door.
The previous inhabitants remain a mystery that left us feeling intrigued.

hate to dampen the vibe but its not a witches house its a doctors house. The winder beside the fireplace would be to open and close the vent for he fire. Mahjong is a game using small tiles, a bit like dominoes. This is a great find .. beautiful furniture

To find a home that is naturally decaying, without being destroyed is a rare find. Great video 👍🏼
You are so respectful of the locations that you explore that it is truly a pleasure to watch you.
I watched this and felt for the poor cat! Glad that it wasnt vandalised of which is a rarity now. Keep up the good work!
Poor cat 😢 The house was absolutely gorgeous, I really enjoyed this video 😊
The item you to out of the drawer in the dining room was a compass.
After watching you go through these old houses makes me think of what people would think if they went through my house years after my death.
Doctor of Divinity is a study of Christian theology and ministry
I love this house. No graffiti or vandalism just slow natural decay...this is my fave house so far!
Have a blessed weekend both of you x
A stunning location . I get sad vibes about the story of this old house. Something unpleasant must have happened there in the past. With such character, this house deserves to be restored and preserved if at all possible. A fascinating video guys. Thanks
Actually I think a bulldozer is warranted there's some bad juju in there.
@@davidroberson8030 You could try a cleanse!
Absolutely cool place ❣️ I would imagine the handle by fireplace would be used to open the flue.
In the dining room, the item in the buffet drawer is a nutcracker. The ends are used to pick tiny particles of the nutshell off of the "meat".
I noticed the pump organ. The white knobs are used to pressurize wind in or out for sound effects. ☺️
The dwellers were academic. They would have been very interesting to meet. Shame about the cat, it must have died after the property was abandoned? I often wonder what you sense, deep inside, as if the property speaks to you?
The winder handle might have been a bell-pull? I really am just guessing. Sometimes curtains were opened and closed in this way. Good to see you two beautiful souls.
Love how you both are captivated by each little trinket you find.
Servants bell, would ring down in the kitchen.
Such an amazing house, thanks for sharing with us.👍🏽
Open shut the fireplace damper to the outside fluke
Beautiful home, love all the stain glass. Awesome how many past decades are represented here. Great job !
This is definitely not a witches house. The doll on the lounge is a very old doll. When you laid the doll flat the eyes would close and the lids would become stuck, break off inside the head so the doll had no eyelids when sitting upright. The handle next to the fireplace would have been to open or close the chimney vent. The black dress hanging on the wardrobe door would be a thick heavy funeral dress the lady would have changed clothes after the service judging by the Christmas decorations it would have been winter and bitterly cold there. The doll in the plate has been set up by someone and is an old fashioned wooden doll with no clothes on. The bundle of what looked Like twigs bound together are dried or either fresh herbs and burned to purify the air after a death, Witches and Wise Women or even just us older women use them to burn and cleanse. The dead animal corpse tells me the story looks like the husband died the kids grew up and moved away, the Lady of the house maybe died but being on her own maybe was not found for days or weeks the family pet would never leave her so just laid down to die with her. Hence the police tape as this would have had to be investigated (even years back) by a Coroner. Just a beautiful old house left to decay.
Would be great if someone who save this house ND make it a museum..it's so sad to see that all that history is just rotting away 😢
Think this is one of my favorites! What a cool house with loads of history. Well done you 2!
Handle on the wall was actually used to lower and raise an original chandelier. Pre electricity, a rig system was usually run through the ceiling and down next to fireplaces so that lighting candles was easier. I know most comments are that it was to ring servants, but due to the lack of additional rooms and low basement, this home more than likely didn't have a staff of more than a housekeeper at most.
This is really interesting.. my thoughts initially where it was for a baffle plate in the flue to alter draw and to close the pot's to stop cold air entering when not in use.. I really wanna know there true purpose now🤦🙃😆
That's really interesting. I can see how that might me the case.BW
The utensil in the drawer was a nutcracker, and the 'leaflets' were flattened boxes
A once beautiful home - thanks for taking us there
Best silverware in the drawer was for cracking crabs and the thing on the side of the fireplace was to let are in and out to make the fire hot or colder.
This little house had a spooky feel, but its a natural decay beauty. So much old furniture and belongings no one has collected, its a shame. The way mother nature is taking it back is awesome, its like the furniture is melting into the floor. Enjoyed the video Sam & Jess thank you, you stay safe xx
Couldn’t agree more Tina! Yes, the holes in the floor here were terrible 😅
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching ❤️🥰
What a fantastic place ,that poor cat though I hope it didn't suffer too much 😢.
I would think that this house was once an old rectory where the vicar / Doctor lived - the handle on the wall is for called the housekeeper - Docor of Divinity is a degree in religion - great vid guys - thanks xx
Yes, servant's bell - before electric bells, it was simply a long wire run from the handle to the kitchen.
If you mean the spinning handle by the fire? That’s for opening the chimney flue, my grannies house had one :)
@@ArooDoggo your spot on bud, it's for opening the flue
The “witches” dress is probably a gown similar to a graduation gown such as would be worn by teachers in universities etc,Mah jong is a Chinese dice game, the thing from the drawer looks like a tuning fork for the piano😉
Or it may have possibly been for wear when doing church services.
Could be part of a mourning dress.
@@sarahstrong7174 Female "Lay" Preachers wore Black to Conduct Sunday school services up until the mid 70s
@@delzek1 Thats interesting. Was that just in Scotland then? Because none of my Sunday School teachers wore black robes in the 60s or 70s. They just wore ordinary fairly smart 'Sunday Best' type clothes.
Where I lived it appeared to be the case, my Family went to the White kirk ( not sure of spelling) it was also known as the "high Kirk" when I moved to England we went to the Catholic Church, the kirk was a very strict place back then you had to go as if you didn't you would be Ostracised by the Locals,
The tool in the drawer is a nutcracker, probably around 100 years old, I have the exact same one that belonged to my grandparents. The name at the top of the magazines found in the bedroom would’ve been written on by the newsagent so they would know who had ordered it. In the past you would have magazines & newspapers put by for you to collect & the shop owner wrote your name on your copy. I would imagine the house was built in the 1800’s.
This breaks my heart when you go into these places have find dead animals.
Obviously they never had close family.
Thank his I have a massive family.
A rare find indeed. Such a shame nice pieces of furniture that could be rescued left to just rot. One of the most interesting videos of late.
That "rug" is a carpet. That is how carpets were before carpets were fitted off a roll of carpeting. Carpets were woven individually.
The rusty utensil in the drawer with the pointed end on one handle looks like an old-fashioned nutcracker. You put the nut between the two handles to break the shell, then use the curved, pointed end to pick out the nutmeat. Other explorers set up the table, the white rose in the vase, the whatever it was on the plate, the thing hanging from the lamp, and such. I wish they would just leave things as they find them instead of trying to create a scene as if it was something the people who lived there had left. Seems like that happens a lot.
Yes, the table looks to have been staged by previous explorers, and the doll was placed there for sensationalism. There really isn't anything sinister about this house's past.
Just when you think you've found the best ever explore another mind blowing place ! That poor cat though , lots of love guys 🤗💖🍀⭐️
So glad you enjoyed it Sarah 🥰 Thank you for watching! Love from us both ❤️
The house looks like it would have been very elegant back when it was new and lived in.
You guy’s rock! By the way. That place looks awesome just the whole setting, location and outside landscape as well.
Respect! Yes this was a special kind of place. Glad you enjoyed the video 😃
Thank you for watching 🙏🏼
The winding handle next to the fire place may well have been for a damper in a chimney.. essentially a cast iron valve to open and close the chimney to alter the draw I guess and you can close off completely when not in use so you don't draw cold air in through the pot's into the house.. quite an unusual but clever piece of engineering for the time..
Yes, that's what I thought as we had one in our chimney when I was a child.
So many beautiful details....I would love to do this place up. Elegant...but still friendly vibes...gorgeous white trims, large windows letting in the light, rambling "secret garden"....almost like a film set of a long forgotten abode. I think there were many happy years spent here. Loved this one guys. Thank you.xx❤️🌼
That's been a beautiful house at one time . That handle on the wall is a bell for calling servants
It’s for opening the chimney flue , Urban Crow commented saying their Granny’s house had one .
Wow, so old, I wonder what happened to the family just to abandon the house. Awesome guys ❤️❤️❤️
Glad you enjoyed it! Always leave with so many questions 🧐 Thank you for watching 🥰
It is a tragedy that beautiful items in these homes can't be saved. It's disheartening to watch History decay. So much craftsmanship left to the elements.
The little handle next to the fireplace was for opening & closing the flue to the fireplace. Ty for the video! Th at little thing you found in the drawer was a nut cracker, it had a pick on the end to get the nuts out. They don't make them like that anymore.
I could totally see you two buying an abandoned place and fixing it up! This place was incredible! Thank you for exploring!! 😁
This is definitely the SINGER and CHAISE LOUNGE channel. Totally transfixed, imagining I am adventuring with you guys.
A lovely home and it’s amazing it hasn’t been trashed, the stained glass is intact. 😎🇺🇸
The buttons on the organ are called "stops" and they changed the sound of the instrument. Each one had a different name. These organs were associated with the Imperial Organ Co. in London. There were so popular that there are many in America.
Robin Mc Mahon
Glad I read your post instead of just typing. The pedals you actually moved up and down to give air to the organ for sound. Tricky to play. Thx :)
WOW! SOMEONE WELL OFF LIVED THERE. THAT PLACE IS BEAUTIFUL!!
The handle might be for opening and closing the air vent for the fire .
That's what I was thinking as it was right next to the fireplace.
Call staff whit a clock/bell thingy
@@Wackscave yeah probably, didnt think of that!
no it's for the maid. x
@@belight4686 nahaaaa is for the horny butler...
What a gem it's so nice to see no vandalism
It really amazes me how you guys find places like these that are untouched, just stood still in time with things like cups and saucers, plates, cutlery, sugar bowls and milk jugs still on a table as though the owner has just popped to the shops lol This house is amazing, the furniture is beautiful and would have been so expensive back in the day, such a shame its all been left for nature to take.
Fabulous explore - so sad to see the dead cat 😢. Newsagents used to put the names of recipient on magazines and papers for the paper boy for delivery purposes, hence what looked like signatures. Wonder why the police tape was there.
I was just going to write that about the newsagents, it’s was normally the name of the house or street they wrote on the top to make it easier for the delivery boy/Girl to deliver. Incidentally, I’m so
Pleased I’m not the only onE ‘lolwho remembers this little occurrence happening.
It's a doctor's house who studied medicine and the black dressing gown was his wife's who was into witchcraft in nineteen fifty four it was common in those times I totally loved the home loved the history and antiques going back in time ❤
Amazing house. The thing on the couch in the room was a sage bundle to ward off evil. Divinity major was a biblical study at those times. The explore was wonderful and I thank you both. Please be careful in these places. Take Care and Stay Safe.
Hi you two! Another great find. The tiny cups in the beginning are for demitasse, a really strong, very sweet coffee. Usually drunk in the Middle East. Mah Jongh is a game played with stones or glass pebbles on a board with dips in it. Very strategic. Big in the Orient. Gorgeous Singer. I love how you find them in so many of these old places. I had an old foot pedal one with all attachments and loved it. Great exercise for the legs! Doctor of Divinity is the study of theology with advanced knowledge of the Bible. He was a very learned man according to the multiple doctorates he achieved. The dental looking thing in the drawer is a nutcracker, the pick part is to get the walnuts out easier after cracking open. So sad about the cat. I can imagine it never left, always waiting for it's owner to return. Though there are creepy looking things, there are simple explanations for them that don't include witchcraft. The "black witch's dress" is a mourning over cloak worn for presiding over funerals, like a priest's over gown. The Schoolgirls' Own mags were a pleasure to see again. So sad to see all the decay, but I can just imagine what a wonderful place this used to be! Sorry for going on so long, but hope I helped answer some of your questions and misconceptions. Great find! Thank you so much for sharing this!
What a beautiful familyhome this was ones filled with activity in every corner.
Mah Jong is a great game. You should give it a go sometime. A lot of fun.
The document on the piano stool is a list of the students who had passed their doctorates & were recieving their certificates at that years awards ceremony. A proud moment.
I would die to go on a venture with you guys. Loved this one. My 23 year old granddaughter and I went to see the witch museum and where they had the Salem witch trials. This was way cool. You should have a contest and pick someone to do a venture with you. Pick me! Pick me!
I just now discovered your channel and just love the content of it. keep up the awesome work!
The vintage singer sewing machine is lovely, they are one item that doesn't seem to fetch a lot for what they are... one like this in mint condition with the wooden storage base would do well to fetch £80 nowadays.. not a lot for such a wonderful piece of hand assembled/painted vintage machinery 🤷♂️
The organ is called a "pump" organ. My grandma had one similar to that. You had to constantly pump the two pedals, thereby introducing air into the pipes inside the organ to produce sound. The round knobs are called "stops" and by pulling out and pushing in various ones you could change the sound being produced. Interesting explore. . . not nearly as spooky as people try to convince us. Thank you for sharing.
Never seen a bathtub that was actually long enough to lay down in
And deep. The bathtubs these days are so shallow.
Really enjoyed that one guys, love the old newspapers etc, I'd be reading till the daylight faded.
That 1951 newspaper. Oh boy! Even older than Me! LoL.
It's strange for someone in their mid 60s like me to hear 1950 -1978 being spoken about as though it's almost historic. To me, it's just a few years ago😅
Doctor or Bachelor of Divinity is usually for members of the Clergy. The old pedal organ is a classic. It is a shame to see it wasting away like that.
WTF you two amaze me. The antiques are amazing. The dead cat tops the tour. I am humored because if I explore my area in USA, someone would shoot us for trespassing. Great place! Thanks 🐟
I realise you were probably just joking but I am not sure you should have used the term 'witch'. It might actually have been very offensive to the person who lived in this house. Unfortunately it has come to have negative connotations. Though it refers in fact to widely differing people. There are some people who use the term who would seek to have power other others & not always in the best way.
There are others who are very humble & respectful people who lead lives as strict as any monk or nun, for they beleive that any type of energy they give out towards others come back to them tenfold, so they cannot afford to have angry, resentful, or violent thoughts towards others but must conciously mind their thoughts in every moment. Such are often very good people who are possessed of great creative & healing abilities. The awareness they must foster leads to much self development.
This was an interesting explore & has lead to me wondering where I am in my own development.
Hello :) I had same thoughts, but I know Sam and Jess are very respectful. I too worry about the energy I send out and the karma I'll get back. Scary ....❤️
Mah-Jongg is like a deck of cards on tiles resembling dominoes.
Another amazing explore. You guys outdo yourselves every time. Absolutely love it 💕 Keep it coming, I can’t wait to see your next adventure explore 🏚
WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE, THANKYOU FOR TAKING US THERE .
amazing find!!! the handle by the fireplace is a servants bell :) turning it would ring a bell in the kitchen or hallway.
Loved this place so amazing ,best place yet. Kinda spooky though get Karl in there to do a session 👻👻👻
That house is amazing. I'm in the US as my mum married a sailor. She graduated the university of Glasgow, I'm going to have to ask her if they offered a Dr. Of Divinity program when she attended. I have to ask, do you do any research of these homes you visit? The history would be so interesting!
I bet that home was once very beautiful, thanks for letting us come along.
Oh you're right by the water...I would love to go mudlarking in Scotland. You guys should find yourselves some sort of "treasure" from each of your explorations so you have a reminder of them. Whether it be beach glass or the bowl of a clay pipe...oh how much fun that would be! I'm so envious! LOL And Jess I think the movie you were referring to was called "the Visit"...GOOD FLICK! And Sam, Mah-Jong is actually a game so that was probably the lid from the game box! Also the thing you pulled out of the drawer in the dining room, I THINK is an old nut cracker as it has a pick on one of the handles to pick the nut from the shell once you have cracked it.
I would love to visit that beautiful old place that held wonderful memories for someone
Wow this must have been a wonderful home in its time
Yes! Just beautiful, the location too 😍
Absolutely loved this! What beautiful scenery too! Thank you both! 💜
Devinity.. The study of Christian theology.. Highest honour... Wow what a place.. And I believe it was a servants ringer/bell.... Awsome
Now this place was a very beautiful house in its day. And the land and view is gorgeous. Feel so sorry for the poor cat hate to think that some one would just leave there pet behind like that. Makes me something happened. there because of the police tape at door.
I just loved it. Again Well done Sam &Jess.❤
@11:46 the doll on the lounge had some blue in the eyes as they looked down. Then when Jesse got down on the floor next to the lounge to get a better look at the doll I noticed the blue part of the eyes were gone, just like that @11:52. Then at 13:15 the eyes had the blue back in them again. Was this the way of the camera or a real happening. The showing of this home makes one think in depth about much in life. It was certainly a beautiful home at one time.
Roof fixed, joists replaced, couple of new floors.. That could be a grand old house. There's enormous beauty underneath all that grime.
Loved this video! What an amazing house. So sad to see the decay 😥 Thank you guys for being so respectful 🙏 ❤
The stain glass windows are great. Too bad it’s in such disrepair. Good to get the back story in the comments. Another great explore. Loved it guy! Awesome!!👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Forgot to say in Scotland Women have been recognised as "Lay Preachers" for a very long time, yet were never Priests or vicars. As far as the lady who lived there is concerned I do Not believe she was a witch, it's more like when her husband died She became a bit of a Spinster hence the dark clothing. In the twenties up to the late sixties Spinsters dressed in Black as a sign of Mourning ! I'm Scot's and know a lot of folklore and traditions, but am by no means an expert.
Fascinating! Thank you 😌
The name Spinster refers to a woman who never married. She was a widow, and they wore mourning clothes after their husbands' deaths.
@@claireb4259 that's why I said "Became a bit of a Spinster" I'm a bit old now and I know when I was young living in "Loch Elie" there was an old lady whose Husband had died in the War ,they had been married 8 days when he was killed in France, although She had been Married a very short While I remember folk used to call her "Spinster Margaret " she always wore black (I used to think she only had one dress) the true meaning of Spinster is unmarried lady exactly as you said. Yet it was common to call a lady widowed young to be called a Spinster if they never remarried and stayed single ,I only can say about the part of Scotland where I lived when young.
@@delzek1 I had a suspicion as to the meaning of "a bit of a", so I hope my reply was not too harsh. Thank you for this extra piece of knowledge. My great aunt lost her husband, after just a few days of marriage, in WWI but went on to remarry the following year. I always thought the spinsters in my family were quite interesting and had multiple interests and hobbies. Without husbands and children they had time to pursue other fulfilling roles.
Hi Claire B,I didn't think it was harsh at all.You gave the Dictionary meaning and I had Forgotten to make it Clear tbh, I'm Fascinated by Sam and Jes's Videos it's a learning curve watching some of them. As an Agoraphobic I get to see things I otherwise would not be able to see otherwise, I only comment on things I know about and if I'm unsure of my comments I try to make it clear. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do.
The handle on wall is probably to call servants
I was thinking it was to open the flute in the chimney
@@ravenwillowdragon mate, got it in one its a flue control
Excellent find. Don't fall through the floor.
I would want to take some of that stuff out of there and restore it. So beautiful. Great video.
Amazing. Thank both of you for uploading such a wonderful video. Cheers....
Yes S&J I agree with the more spiritual nature couple that lived there. You have a wonderful way of treating antiques..you Should!
There was a Doctors bag on the top of the drawers you got the Nutcracker from or next to it. Hope you guys didn't miss it.
Nut crackers made of steel.I was an antique dealer for many years.
I didn’t want you to think I was a know it all.😂🤣👍
Ah I see! Will remember that now ☺️ Thank you 🙏🏼
Beautiful house and creepy,so many funitures and decoration very an antique ,I hope the family of the owner stay and living here for keep cleans n tidy this house because so many memories in this house...🤗
The thing you thought may be a garlic crusher is indeed a nut cracker I have 2 from my grandparents. Those bone handled knives are gorgeous, I also have a couple of those. Poor kitty.
We've had a whole afternoon watching your explores and it's been amazing x thank you x
It's beautiful the drive way gates , I wish we could just use these houses I mean it's on the sea front , great find again guys
I am always curious about if you guys have ever found any squatters or anyone inside these abandoned places. Do you guys get nervous before entering?
What a gorgeous house, that poor puddy cat. Loved the stained glass windows
Great house and explore guys I am just wondering if the Cat was a Wild Cat that got trapped because you wouldn't think they would leave a Domestic Cat behind to deteriorate like that surely and when I explored there a couple of Years ago I don't remember seeing the Cat or catching it in any of my photographs
Cats are known to seek out quiet place to go and die. That may well be the case here
@@seanlawman1518 yes they are . Even if they are sick they will go off somewhere to be alone until it's well or like you said it dies.
Cats go to quiet places to pass
Wow, another hit. What a fascinating house and all the leanings towards the paranormal so intriguing, just loved it, except for the poor cat!
That handle on the wall Sam asked about, it kinda looks like something to open and close the chimney? Like a damper?
thats what i said at first look
but think winnie got it right
handle for the window shutter lathes
maybe inside the sash
That handle, when turned, most likely rang a bell in the hall or kitchen to call a servant. They were often by the fireplace & the call was often to ask the servant to 'make up' the fire.
@@sarahstrong7174 makes sense to me! We don’t have fancy features here in the US like that! Lol
This house must have been quite beautiful years ago.
Those lamp shades are rare and highly sought after. There's only one maker of those shades, they're about 120 years old. I saw same exact shades on an antiques show.
What a beautiful. home this was and very nicely furnished .I love the windows and drapes, and the lovely staircase. All over great house.Great job guys take care enjoyed it very much.👍😍❤️🇺🇸
