I’ve been addicted to nicotine, then to sex, then to booze, then to drugs, then to all 4 at once, back to nicotine, back to porn, and now I’m sober from everything but nicotine as of current (ifykyk-of course) and I really relate to individuals such as Amy. Thank god, I have a good network of support to help me through these things. As tragic as her life was, towards the end, she still marked people like me. She left a message about life and im glad because it motivated me to find hope-not depair.. ❤

amy’s gotten me through some incredibly tough times. i think we’re very similar, addictive personalities, easily manipulated, groomed, and persuaded into things by people we love, and obsessive love to the point of self-harm. i think i may have BPD, and i wouldn’t be surprised if she had some form of that either. but i think she said it best when she said “music speaks to me like nothing else can”. i’m a huge music nerd too, and her music is legit incredible, not even mentioning her voice. oh my god. just sitting and listening to her songs and crying softly was such a healing experience for me when i was going through some of the worst of it, and i felt like, somehow, she was talking to me. like, “yeah, emotions are shit. love sucks, and men suck even more, huh? i know.” and it was so relieving to have someone that understood me like that, both artistically and emotionally, even if i didn’t even know her.

She stated several times that she did not have stage fright. Many people said also she got a huge adrenalin kick out of it. In my opinion she struggled psychologically with relationship to her family and love life and her songs reflected that, which made it hard for her to perform since she had to relive and re-tell the story over and over again and it made her sad and drink/smoke to be able to preform and relive it over and over. She needed deep therapy, but she didn't want it. So the end was inevitable

You can't force an addict to get better. It has to be their idea. Believe me, I know. Everyone's Rock bottom is different. Some never hit rock bottom and end up losing their lives instead
Yes, also people want to blame everyone else for their daughter, mother, son ect being on drugs, but at the end of the day, it was their own choice, nobody forced them..they chose to do it, and yes I speak from experience..
Sometimes, when people feel guilty but don't want that to be noticeable, they shift the focus onto other things and other people. It's childhood trauma that causes the pain that is trying to be avoided by the addiction.
@@lorimiller4301 It's not always due to trauma. Some people can have really nice and "normal" lives and try it, like it, then it gets a hold of them and it becomes their way of life.
The Scottish woman in this documentary really annoys me. She was a hurting soul, she was amazing and my heart broke when I heard she died! She was so talented, I hate people who judge, they don't understand addiction.💕☹️😞😭
15:33:crack cocain/heroin,cigarette smoking ect, didn't kill Amy in the end,Alcohol/abuse/addiction killed Amy at age 27,she basically drank herself to death, she died from Alcohol poisoning
That's as wrong as it could be. She was getting clean from heroin and cocaine, having abstained for ca 2 weeks they said. Which makes your body very weak and due to bulimia etc she was weak, no nourishment or immune system. She died from alcohol poisoning in the end yes, but that not what killed her. Ultimately all her abuse and health neglecting killed her, as she gradually could keep up more
Heroin and crack likely damaged her body during the time she was addicted but she wasn't addicted to them for about a year when she died (it was largely replaced with alcohol). She was a weed addict since she was a teenager. Was an alcohol addict for years and it got much worse after Frank was released and much worse later in life. She was self harming, sometimes to an extreme extreme degree. On top of that bulimia ravaged her body since the release of Frank. She also had some minor addictions to legal drugs. Basically - she only really understood she was very addicted and wanted to get better in the last months of her life but she still wasn't sober (she wood be sober for weeks and then binge drink till unconscious for a few days). When she really realised she had a problem it was too late.
Speaking from hard won experience, to blame another for your addiction is mental. That’s like someone giving you your first cigarette then blaming them for the cancer you develop. She free today 🙏
I didn't like her music bar 2 songs but as a person she was lovely... This doc shows it really well.... So young..... Imagine wat she could have done.... RIP Amy.... The world loved her.... She had her own style of singing and a style for the way she looked.... To the hard core fans I'm sorry guys lost a beautiful talented musician.. Her music will live on.❤ ❤❤❤❤❤
Such a beautiful, talented young girl. I too hated the rehab song. As a part of my job, I worked desperately hard to rehabilitate so many drug addicts. It worked for very few, but one or two matter.
To her dad I‘d like to say: A „getting better story“ sure is worth being covered by media but the gossip media obviously are looking for scandals and offer more for that. Just look for the right media when you like a good story covered. Getting better for an addict is always a long process, never ever just withdrawl and you‘re well and done with subs abuse when you have been addicted for years since teenage years or early 20s. Being in the spotlight throughout addiction and then you‘re expected to just be perfectly fine after a rather short time of rehab is putting a lot of pressure on anyone but also addicts often have unrealistic expectations of themselves which can lead to a vicious cycle. Sadly Amy probably didn‘t have the time to figure it out slowly and sustainably due to her assumed longterm effects from different health issues, not only from substance abuse but other kind of self harming addiction like conditions as far as I‘m informed.😢 R I P unique beautiful soul and talent 🕊️ I hope you‘re smiling from above, realizing how loved and adored you are still and will always be ❤
11:15 - I'm the same way, being an author. I was also born in 1983 - and producing and selling - what creative people do - carries a different idea of succeeding than selling your time.
@@mariondiany work is selling your time, which is priceless. Once the time is gone it can’t be replaced. We all place an hourly rate on our time, and it’s usually determined by how much an employer chooses to pay.
The people just sat there capturing images of Amy carving her stomach, utterly disturbing and very uncaring too. The band members watched her stumbling etc on stage, instead of taking her away. All for the money.
I get what you guys are saying, but there’s a certain power dynamic at play, and the band members may not feel it’s their place / they have the power to step up and do something like take Amy off stage while she’s performing, despite her physical condition She is the Star, she bring in the money, she is the important one. It can be difficult when the band members are more so “employees” of a famous artist, opposed to an actual total “band” or group like The Who or The Beatles
I also was due to see Amy in my local town but she cancelled. it was the day the smoking ban came in, we went into the nearest pub when we realised she wasn’t turning up. instead of the smell of smoke we were used to in pubs, all we could smell was bad wind/shit 💩 not a good omen as it turned out. Miss you Amy RIP ❤
I always thought she was a beautiful artist and person.... I dealt with drug addiction as well... I been clean a year half n it's well worth the time it took me to get here n now.... I struggle with anxiety and PTSD and thats hard to go thru every day life and actually dealing with it sober ❤❤ i love you amy winehouse and R.I.P Beautiful soul and woman
Her dad says he couldn’t imagine being a young woman who can’t leave her house without being hounded then takes takes a camera crew over to St Lucia when she’s trying to relax and get away from it all 🤣
Tyler James was basically her carer through her addiction and kept her alive for ages and was in contact with her doctors but for some reason he is never acknowledged in these things, it's so annoying.
WAIT A DAMN MINUTE... THEY'RE DOING A STORY ABOUT AMY AND HER STRUGGLE WITH ADDICTION, ESPECIALLY VODKA AND THEN THEY DO A COMMERCIAL ABOUT ABSOLUTE VODKA... UTTERLY DISGUSTING 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
The ad below my video is a winery. I’ve worked in drug and alcohol recovery for years and a lot of people see alcohol as harmless including alcoholic, it’s so sad and maddening because it destroys and ruins lives just as bad as hard drugs.

At the edge through the end of her fame on Earth,I was going through a lot of what Amy was going through, beyond the spotlight of her talent. I was on so many drugs, but not as hard, but drinking whatever I could drink and suffering from severe anorexia with b/p tendencies. I was also self harming on multiple levels and being kicked out every 7 months before I left home 19. It also didn't help that I was in a fruitless relationship with a guy 5 years older than me, who also did drugs. He had more priors than I ever had and because I was with him, I had priors on my record before the age of 21. Amy was a true talent beyond what many probably could even understand coming up in this day and age. She was a very complicated character, but most musically and creatively adpt are. It also did not help that the tabloids and people around her helped with almost blind continuation and not saying "hey amy, what they hell?, we need to stop this shit." She needed someone to actually help pull her out of her own path for awhile, even with tough love. As a former addict, your rock bottom is your own and no one elses. From my experience as well as seeing others (7/10are dead now) for her to have recovered she needed the space to actually hit a rock bottom. They kept her, with her own vulnerabilities, just hovering and scraping rock bottom. She never had that chance to hit her own wall herself. I am thankful to have known her music, in a very rural town across the pond. I cannot imagine how she would be today and I have tried. ❤ RIP forever.
the question shouldn't be why nobody cared (enough) in her last days. It should've been how can doctors save her broken body. In the end it was her body who couldn't handle it anymore. Rest in peace beautiful Amy
@@jessica112k Indeed....a completely different area of London. Yes, they're both North London, but North London is a big area! She went to live in Camden town when she was a grown woman...
The worst addict can be treated sufficiently to avoid death. Constant medical observation is key. Even get a court order for police to forcibly keep bad people away from her. She could have been saved by outside forces, not some boyfriend or acquaintance
To think, had Amy and Blake's paths never crossed, she would still be alive today. If she met someone who has never smoked, taken drugs or alcohol in the first place, Amy wouldn't have taken drugs, and then if they eventually split or got divorced she wouldn't have taken it soo bad. Yeah Amy had the odd drink here and there but had she of met someone normal, she would've had a better chance of still being alive today.
But honestly how many normal young people are there who DON'T drink or do some type of drug even casually today? Really think. Very few. Unless they're religious or maybe super health conscious or maybe grew up with massive addiction in their own family so they stay away for that reason....she was young and Blake was close to her age. It was just unfortunate that the dude she fell heart and soul in love with was a TRUE hard addict. And I do believe she had live performing and even normal social anxiety problems and learned at some point that social drinking helped with that..and so she was vulnerable to someone who was already into hard drugs & alcoholic and it wasn't a big jump to using drugs/booze as a lifestyle from there. She was like many, many women I have known. She was a person who was vulnerable to addiction bc she became trauma bonded to an even harder addict. I feel so sad for her. Her talent made her so incredibly special. I wish she had really understood how much of a true star she was.
That isn't so, she would have most definitely still become an alcoholic, and that's what killed her. Did you not listen? Every addict gets introduced, but ultimately, they are responsible for themselves. What a poor take.
She was an addictive personality. Meaning for her addiction is very easy. Obsessive, perfectionist. All those could very much contribute to her addiction. Yes unfortunately she met this guy and obviously was introduced to substances but really she had many more problems going on for her, found escapism in the wrong things. And while that’s unfortunate it’s unfair to blame it all on one person. Yes he is partly but not entirely to blame as she was a grown person with consciousness
Blake broke her heart Literally she tried to relate to his good and bad behavior She was just more in Love with him than him with her and it Broke her heart 😢RIP Amy❤
Ive had similar struggles but i did work through them.....not knocking her because addiction and being in a relationship you don't want to even think of letting go of been there as well its a vicious cycle....she was a great singer and person....that should of been pushed to seek help 😓😓
I can relate cause i have had addiction issues and a very toxic relationship that really did damage my 20s.....and i paid the price for it....its an awful thing that she isn't here😓
Find a safe person you can trust to help you. Document what happens. There are apps that work as a secret vault to keep information away from prying eyes. A hidden camera that saves to the cloud could give you the evidence you need to get. Love yourself enough to get out with your kids and pets and go elsewhere. The second you make up your mind the universe will come together to assist you. You have a Guardian Angel all you have to do is acknowledge them and tell them you want their assistance. Then watch for the signs. Follow your urges. Trust your intuition, it's there for you. They can't stop themselves from hurting you and you have to be the one that keeps you safe. Make a plan but dont leave any evidence. A real love takes care of you. They don't harm you on purpose. Please love yourself, you're worth it. ❤
@Lisahartman805, if you live in the U.S there is help.I am sure you can find help. Family, friend. You must get out,it is dangerous to stay. I know it's so hard, but I beg you.I am so sorry. Call the police .
I understand that Blake may have introduced her to hard drugs, however, we all have choices not to take them as well. You can't blame someone for their own choice.
Exactly. Alcoholics can NEVER just walk away. Usually it's recommended they take a medication while receiving inpatient treatment and therapy to treat their alcoholism. The meds are to keep the seizures from coming on.
Listening to her father BLAME Blake and down play her behavior when everything she did was clearly a cry for help! He talks about her being stalked by Paps (when we know) HE CALLED them and camera men you brought on holiday when she was supposed to be healing, I’m sorry but the Father is responsible and he reminds me of Britney’s DAD!
I get an odd feeling about him, too. Plus, she had Daddy written on her shoulder. Even the lyric about him thinking she's fine ? Then add in the self-harm, eating disorder, relationship addiction, breast implants, etc. i get a very clear idea of what went on. Drug abuse comes from childhood trauma, and that's all that needs an explanation. If you know, sadly you know. 😢
@@lorimiller4301 What lyric? I can't stand Mitch, but I never thought it went quite that far. It's so obvious it started with him cheating on her mum, then divorce. Then her gran dying, and no one was really ever there for her after her nan. :(
I once had a boyfriend who was a drug addict. Did I ever consume drugs even though they were accessible? No. I never even tried. You cannot make someone else responsible for amys addiction. She had a choice.
Oooo. Congratulations. You weren’t hard-wired to be an addict. Do you want a ribbon or something? Bc this just comes off so pretentious and uneducated.
.. I remember 1 month ago I was feeling so stressed to the point that I drank 3 glasses of wine (note that I don't drink EVER) and I got so drunk... did it make me feel better? yes. will I do it again? no. Amy however was feeling stressed ALL THE TIME while people were telling her how lucky she is for all this success and fame ....
Just so sad that her heart ached so much for one person… I mean maybe if she had the ability to move on- she would maybe be alive today. And let’s not talk about her dad… I mean…
I wasn’t surprised to hear of her passing because she looked terrible she was a walking skeleton of herself so sad to see good talent go to waste. Hope she found peace on the other side.
As outsiders we saw her destruction and desired to rescue her. So, I cannot understand how people around her, especially her family members, discussed and discuss her addictions as something she must learn to control. She couldn’t. She was too severe of an addict. I was addicted to alcohol some years ago. My co-workers pleaded with me and one said the words my AA sponsor eventually said to me, “I will love you until you can love yourself.” The state she was in, I cannot believe her management and others did not surround her with 24 hour care. Yes, she would hate it…at first. But we probably would not be talking about her in the past tense, now.

Exactly! They did the same thing to Whitney Houston. Only looked at her as a drug addict when she was clearly trying. I wish people would’ve treated these two queens better 😕💔
I’m sorry I don’t agree with that. I don’t believe a genuine soulmate destroys you and you destroy them. I feel like soulmates and my experience are positive empowering forces in your life. They’re not people who corrupt you and tear you down like her guy did her.

Sad she passed away. She had RAW pure talent.

Ultimately all her abuse and health neglecting killed her, as she gradually could keep up more
@@karynamedentsi901her cause of death was alcohol poisoning no matter how you see it
Heroin and crack likely damaged her body during the time she was addicted but she wasn't addicted to them for about a year when she died (it was largely replaced with alcohol).

That poor girl needed more help than just rehab.
It says a lot about her tough. Sweet, naieve young woman. She broke our hearts with her death.
Expressive eyes, mesmerizing.
Beautiful girl
Sadly Amy probably didn‘t have the time to figure it out slowly and sustainably due to her assumed longterm effects from different health issues, not only from substance abuse but other kind of self harming addiction like conditions as far as I‘m informed.😢
R I P unique beautiful soul and talent 🕊️
I hope you‘re smiling from above, realizing how loved and adored you are still and will always be ❤

The people just sat there capturing images of Amy carving her stomach, utterly disturbing and very uncaring too. The band members watched her stumbling etc on stage, instead of taking her away. All for the money.
The band members were disgusting. Two of them were smirking. Only one went to assist her.
I get what you guys are saying, but there’s a certain power dynamic at play, and the band members may not feel it’s their place / they have the power to step up and do something like take Amy off stage while she’s performing, despite her physical condition
She is the Star, she bring in the money, she is the important one. It can be difficult when the band members are more so “employees” of a famous artist, opposed to an actual total “band” or group like The Who or The Beatles

Just saw Back to Black which was a good movie. What an incredible talent who did not have enough support to beat her demons.
Amy's father moved from a cab driver to hoping on the the fame of his dead daughter. Awful.
And he's STILL doing it 🤯
I can only sympathize with someone losing their child. There is no greater pain- have some feelings for him
I also was due to see Amy in my local town but she cancelled. it was the day the smoking ban came in, we went into the nearest pub when we realised she wasn’t turning up. instead of the smell of smoke we were used to in pubs, all we could smell was bad wind/shit 💩 not a good omen as it turned out. Miss you Amy RIP ❤

She was a baby when she passed. No one should pass at a young age!
Tyler James was basically her carer through her addiction and kept her alive for ages and was in contact with her doctors but for some reason he is never acknowledged in these things, it's so annoying.

1 of the best singers ever....phenomenal

The worst addict can be treated sufficiently to avoid death. Constant medical observation is key. Even get a court order for police to forcibly keep bad people away from her. She could have been saved by outside forces, not some boyfriend or acquaintance
Addiction steals so much from you, it's a slow killer. We need to end addiction and save the next Amy
I love her voice and style! Did know she was British?? She had an old soul! So sad!
It’s sad but he was the inspiration for Back to Black which became her iconic hit
Born on self destruct
Blake broke her heart Literally she tried to relate to his good and bad behavior She was just more in Love with him than him with her and it Broke her heart 😢RIP Amy❤

@dianaberlin4767
I've seen your comments, and your troll comment is a major projection. Grow up.
I understand that Blake may have introduced her to hard drugs, however, we all have choices not to take them as well. You can't blame someone for their own choice.
Ive worked as a cna they get seizures from alcohol withdrawal its sad
Damn
Glad you shared because I have NEVER seen that father as a positive force.

Nice work. She was a beautiful woman.
I once had a boyfriend who was a drug addict. Did I ever consume drugs even though they were accessible? No. I never even tried. You cannot make someone else responsible for amys addiction. She had a choice.
I had never done it either but I tried it with my second husband & that was the start. Addiction is a disease so please speak on things u know about.
Oooo. Congratulations. You weren’t hard-wired to be an addict. Do you want a ribbon or something? Bc this just comes off so pretentious and uneducated.
.. I remember 1 month ago I was feeling so stressed to the point that I drank 3 glasses of wine (note that I don't drink EVER) and I got so drunk... did it make me feel better? yes. will I do it again? no. Just so sad that her heart ached so much for one person… I mean maybe if she had the ability to move on- she would maybe be alive today. And let’s not talk about her dad… I mean…
I think she had childhood trauma. I also think she was humiliated about her last performance on stage and was heartbroken about Blake moving on.
I wasn’t surprised to hear of her passing because she looked terrible she was a walking skeleton of herself so sad to see good talent go to waste. Hope she found peace on the other side.
I love this woman from New Zealand thank you So much Amy forever xoxo
As outsiders we saw her destruction and desired to rescue her. So, I cannot understand how people around her, especially her family members, discussed and discuss her addictions as something she must learn to control. She couldn’t. She was too severe of an addict.
I was addicted to alcohol some years ago. My co-workers pleaded with me and one said the words my AA sponsor eventually said to me, “I will love you until you can love yourself.” The state she was in, I cannot believe her management and others did not surround her with 24 hour care. Yes, she would hate it…at first. But we probably would not be talking about her in the past tense, now.
Just so sad and she had so much life ahead of her just tragic God bless you Amy x

What a sad situation. I love her music so much. That ding dong Blake was the worst thing that ever happened to her.
